Dimensional Sovereign. Like its name, it is one of those governing power fantasy novels involving dimensions. It follows a pretty generic path, with the MC being the lord, having to govern his land, conquering others, etc. It also involves a lot of "Korean-ness", including dislike towards the Japanese and portraying them as a cowardly chicken. However, if you somehow get past the whole nonsense, the overall story is adequately put together and the concept of having to conquer separate worlds and not just territories somehow gives this novel uniqueness. If... more>> you're obsessed with these kinds of governing power fantasy novels and want something unique yet still in your comfort zone, I would give this my recommendation. However, that is the extent with an adequately put together novel with only a new texture, and it is anything but exceptional. I would give this a 3.5~4/5. <<less

I honestly don't understand why many reviews say that the beginning is great but that it falls apart later, even the start is full-on wish fulfilment and not that well written.
Spoiler

He steals power (life force?) from others but it's fine since it's just bad guys anyway, and he is able to fight with his life on a line with a club, a bow (accurately and repeatedly shooting the eye of enemies without any training) and a sword, not even being shaken after taking an arrow in his arm...
He is also able to make a ton of money out of nowhere just by using the skills that conveniently drop from encounters.

[collapse]

There is very little even remotely believable even from the beginning of this story, the characters are not developed, the surroundings are barely described at all, everything is "conveniently for the plot and for the main character, everything works out even beyond perfection".
It does try to give a sense of tension during the fights, by having the main character get hit (and have to use a potion) every now and then and repeatedly stressing that getting hit by a direct attack would be the end of him, but at least for me it fails to achieve its purpose and just becomes a way to show off how awesome at fighting a nobody became in no time.

The writing is full of very short phrases with sound effects and thoughts or monologues everywhere as padding, which adds to the very amateurish feel of the whole thing.

Don't get me wrong, there is nothing inherently bad about any of this, it's one of those novels you read once when you are bored and never come back to after finishing it (and unless it becomes really bad in the later parts I probably will finish it because I was just searching for a complete story to waste a bit of time).
It's just that a lot of reviews led me to believe that the beginning of this was much better than it is. <<less

Actually, this is not a bad read. It's not a stellar book nor is it one of those Chinese ones where things get repetitive.

There are quite a bit of bad and harsh reviews but no one considered that it was a short book of 179 chapters. A good short read to fill in the time of boredom.

I prefer the old traditional book of the 'standard' chapters and creative writing. If you like lonnggggg reading-go for non-creative writing of Chinese novels. I'm not saying that they're that bad but 9.5/10 of... more>> them are mostly fitting the criteria. With a 'few' exceptions.

This story actually got a plot, some conspiracy, a bit of short romance, and that's it. Not bad-not great but enough to get a worthwhile look into.

Some folks giving bad reviews did not considered the standards of publishing in Korea. US is diffferent, China is different, Korea is different, and Japan is definitely different as well. Did I emphasized enough 'different'?

US usually are less than 100 chapters per book. China is like if it's not over 2000 chapters then you're scamming the readers. I'm not saying that quantity is the objective here but it's an example of the trend and culture of every country will not fit to everyone tastes.

I can only say that the author stick to the theme of the title and finish it as it was planned. That's good enough to get 4 stars. <<less

This novel starts with a good and original concept mixing a RPG theme where the MC is transported to a dream World where he can capture buildings and create a base, also his actions and development cross to the real world and vice versa (e.g. Purchasing a building in real life allows you to capture it in the dream world and increasing stats in dream world helps increase his capability in real life).

At some point however this concept is thrown out the window by the author which focused most on... more>> the dream world. Furthermore the story becomes more leveling up driven (with tons of lucky encounters) and the plot almost ceases to exist.

It's a pity because this novel possessed a lot of potential and could even reach 5 stars if the author had planned better.

Overall, this story is bellow average, but I quite enjoyed the beginning and ending of it. <<less

The idea is great, a creative twist on what would otherwise be an overused trope and very fun at first. And by at first I mean the first 10 chapters, maybe 20.

This novel is incredibly ridiculously rushed, I have never seen a more rushed novel. The pacing starts good on the first chapter. But every few chapters the pacing will accelerate, and accelerate, and accelerate again and the novel becomes more and more rushed. At the end you are having the MC jumping several whole major realms in a single... more>> chapter. Interesting side characters are dropped, conflicts are just hand-waved in an unsatisfying manner.

It is really sad because you had a potential for an exceptionally good 5/5 story. But unfortunately it doesn't deliver. I will still recommend you read it if you have some free time. Since it is so ridiculously short it won't take long to read. <<less

Good at first. Once he reached something like a pinnacle of power it became really annoying and I had to stop reading. Still, the earlier chapters are good and I don't regret reading it since it is so short. If you're looking for something to read you can see if you can find chapters of this somewhere as it got taken down (can't remember why).

I enjoy the system.

I enjoy the side characters.

The MC on the other hand is just terrible. His only redeeming feature is that he isn't picky about going to the front and fighting. This somehow was never discovered by the other sovereigns, like ever nor was it ever advised by any of their advisers. He reads more like a tr*shy Chinese character more than anything. No real aim just wanting to be stronger.

... more>> Don't mention the ABSURD amount of "luck" (read as plot armor) he needs to win.

He wins the first hard fight through plot. Ok still manageable. Then when he gets invaded, plot saves him again!!!

Edit: I'm not sure if I'm missing something or what but why does he have to rent the room beside him when he can capture it in the dream realm? I understand owning a building = taxes. After capturing the room MC gets the option to build in it, so why does he need to buy it in the real world??? <<less

Recently finished the story, and I can say that I liked it. It had great pacing (almost great*), MC was quite likeable, story itself was unique and character development was quite good too (weak were not forgotten, but they appeared rarely).

Pacing was almost great because MC level up spped was too fast - just recently he was weaker than some guy and after 5 minutes he was already like 100 times stronger than that guy. ... more>>
Spoiler

Also he skipped the transcendental stage too fast - it broke the flow. And author forgot about Anomal Phoenix. It appeared, went into MC's wings... and remained there forever.

The first ~50 chapters are a good read. A nice mix of business development in real life and leveling up his base, including minions and his own power. After he is rescued by a plot armor twist, this novell starts to degrade and with every few chapters this degrading accelerates.

The devoloping of busines in real life and the base building including all his minions and comrades, is trown in the garbage, as nothing of these matters anymore. It feels like a fast forward through anything the author has planned to... more>> write just to finish the novell as fast as possible. <<less

Dimensional Sovereign is the first Korean novel I read and completed.

I think it is an okay novel, but not a great one. It is at its best in its first half, when the protagonist must manage both his personnal development and the one of its base, followers and faction. I really enjoyed the fact that both were closely entertwined. I also liked the attention put into his followers and allies, and the way the world was structured and the power progression was implemented. Alas, in the second half, and most... more>> notably in the last quarter of the novel, most of those fine elements are neglected in favor of a power trip, and a bad to average, succintly describded one. As for the ending, while it leaves you a fine aftertaste and a will to go out and watch a movie, have a good meal at an goood eatery or call your girlfriend for an impromptu date, it is a bit too long considering the length of the story. Moreover in the final conflict, there is a lack of the significant stakes that you should normally expect in this genre, making it feel less like a thrilling life-or-death trial and more like a mere hurdle.

My final opinion is Dimensionnal Sovereign is a good, above average novel, and while it is not very good (even less great or excellent), its short length (180 chapters, 179 + prologue) ensures you won't spend too much time on the bad parts and make it a fine read you'll be able to complete in a week or two.
Thanks to Raindow Turtle (translator), Jaspaaar and LD (editor).

P.S: for those who enjoyed the mix of main character action and strategy/kingdom management in the first half of the story: I can recommend "I am the Monarch" and "Tales of the Reincarnated Lord", two solid novels of the genre (the latter has a bit of a slow start, but it gets great after that). <<less

This is a completed series as of today and I thought its time to write a (late) review. I would rate it around 4 everything being fair but to balance ppl voting low for absurd reasons I added another point to it.

Generally its fun, very few cliffhangers, very fast pace (usually when this happens some chars gets forgotten but that's very minimal here mostly background chars you won't care much), it has reasonable length and ending.

For the negative parts: you need to close your brain to enjoy it. Thinking too... more>> deeply would just annoy you. MC is lucky.. If he sees a pebble in the ground and its mentioned that means he'll use the pebble to kill his next enemy in the next chapter if not the same chapter. It adds nothing to genre and mostly a time waster.

That said I enjoyed it a lot. A big thanks to translator and editors, they really did a good job on it. All in all if you are looking for something to read or something light give it a go. Its not a novel for everyone but those who like it will like it a lot, for those who don't I recommend Shakespeare's works. <<less

Overall a really enjoyable read. Technically in 3.25 - 3.50 range.

There is an interesting mix of world building, warfare, double lives and alternate/dream dimensions. The MC works hard and is not afraid to take risks. The concepts behind the plot are fresh and entertaining, and there is a nice mix of upfront stuff that the MC has to deal with and behind the scenes stuff that makes future events more exciting.

However, the MC gains power too quickly, and while the plot was excellent at first, it has degraded and now... more>> it has a generic, OP flavor with extreme levels of luck. Seriously. The MC's luck stat is off the charts. While impressive in and of itself, it's not good for the overall storyline. <<less

This is by far one of the best novels that I have read. Its a shame that it is short, but glad, as what normally happens with alot of novels are they get too long and loose alot of what make them great. This is a novel that I can't wait for the next chapter but dread that its going to end soon. The story is great, the MC you can relate to and its all about family and strenght. You have to read it!

It's a bit wacky when you talk about it's pacing. There are times the pacing should've slowed down but suddenly quicken and vice versa.

Author could've developed more in regards to it's strategy build a base theme given that it was interesting how it developed but was a bit neglected after the author introduced another theme in the story.

Supporting characters was standard to below standard. It's almost like cheerleaders after becoming a subordinate, It would've been more interesting if a subordinate had betrayed in some cases but I guess it's what... more>> the author was going for loyalty in its max.

Story could've been better and more deeper but still an okay approach the author did.

Overall its about average to below average in my rating. Still, I enjoyed reading it till the end. <<less

Only one word:

RIDICULOUS !!!

This is the most ridiculous novel I have ever read.

If after chapter 60 or so, you lose interest, then drop it. There is not much new to be read after this point. All old characters (somehow, 90% of his comrades are all beautiful women) gets overshadowed in just a few chapters and rendered meaningless. Characters are as 1D as it gets.

However, if want to continue, then bear until the end, at least ending is somewhat decent.

Spoiler

At least, he keeps all the women in his harem happy.

It wasn’t too bad, it’s a simple power fantasy for quick and simple entertainment, you can read it in your spare time if you like that kind of thing.
it has some problems like the lack of exploration of the elements introduced to the story, but it’s nothing atrocious. In the end, I recommend you read up to chapter 15 and if you’re not interested, then just drop it.

The story had a good concept about an imaginary power-up system that affects reality. A brand new concept of KR novel. No worthy redeeming qualities in mc's character. He's a social outcast, a drop out. Premises is somewhat good. Not cause of his character but his circumstances. For that a star.

From start to somewhat 50th chapter story has a good build, I've read some unnoteworthy pieces but for this starting, it has good steady growth. Another star. From there the story goes downhill. Sad to watch that.

His growth is hurryed,... more>> side characters are one dimensional. Not even a little background info about them. Sudden power gains cause of his immense luck stat, not praiseworthy, but yeah for fantasy sure why not. Sudden enlightenment, typical. The next scenario will be dump by the author completely unexpectedly, some may say it's good, but yeah in this particular novel author wasn't able to improvise it smoothly.

NO cliffhanging scenarios, he's not capable of catching readers by surprise, for that he used info dumping here and there, some may even argue that this piece of work is amateur.

Spoiler

Female characters are waiting to be embraced, they are like roadside prostit**es waiting to be bought.

[collapse]

The story was so bland. For me, this story feels like the author was trying to fly away from reality to his imaginary world to boss around others, don't know about others but that's how I felt. The story should be wholesome. But not this one.

These are the weak points in the novel that I saw/felt.

    1. Unbalanced main character
    1. Plot structure
    1. One dimensional side characters
    1. Messed up romantic subplots, actually, there wasn't any subplot/s.
    1. Hurried ending
    1. Disruptions in story flow
I don't know whether the author saw this or not but he has good potential just needs to refine it. Try to communicate with readers more often. Listen & adapt to revies.

Good luck............ <<less

Bit of a rough start but overall very enjoyable.

The first few chapters were a little confusing probably due to a mix of poor translation (mostly notes in places that break the flow) and several other factors. But the author and translator leveled up almost as fast as the main character.

Interesting take on kingdom building with strategic RPG mechanics. How property acquisition in the real world can affect the territory of a Dreamscape & vice versa. Shame the MC here constantly bemoans about people born with "golden spoons" in their mouths, even though it feels like the MC gains a sh*t ton of "bonus luck". His progression ends up being so fast that he quickly makes his previous achievements obsolete. This novel later on gives off the impression of an over-the-top Xianxia novel, without technically being one (lack of gods,... more>> cultivation & Chinese). <<less
