Such a great story! I wish it would go on a bit longer with more cases. I loved all the characters. MC and ML are the best. Definitely going to read it again.

So far, this novel has so many Pleasant moments that keep me falling in love in many moments.

Like how ML know MC's identity. MC's whole personality. The Romance between MC and ML. Their tender moments. And the Supporting Characters.

So many Good things in this novel. Almost everything is Good! Except of course the Villains. And the Dangers and Problems that need to be solved.

... more>> It's more than just a story of a Lawyer on Court. And it's Really Really Good!

I'm truly pleasantly surprised and very happy so far. Pray the rest of the story would give us Satisfactory! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Finished at 2 May 2023:

Reading on May, finished also on May. What a coincidence. I didn't plan this. 😆

I honestly was waiting for the right mood to read this, and I get it now. And I'm Absolutely pleased with the ending!

It definitely gave a Satisfactory ending! Everything... EVERYTHING Resolved!!! Thank GOD!!!

The story is consistent and solid. All the characters are Likable and Enjoyable!

And even some more few surprise are pleasantly good or at least Emotionally not bad. But I'm thankful with no Angst!!! THANK GOD!!!

The point is this novel is truly Worth your time and Truly Recommended!!! Just GO READ IT!!! <<less

Found this to be an enjoyable read with both a good translation and the original author doing a good job constructing an internally logical plot with decent suspense and a lovely romance. No one turning off their brains for drama here!

I did find the conclusion to the central mystery to hinge on too many coincidences, so I'm not the plot was actually successful for me, but worth a read.

I think I’ve read this one four to five times by now and I just cannot get enough of it! I love all the dynamics and the sense of humour is to my liking. It seems like a lot of chapters but it’s so much fun I read it in a day every single time. Literally my favourite ❤️

A lengthy read but beautifully written as expected of Mu Su Li. This has become one of my favorites. The translation was great, kudos to luckykoi.

The MC and ML are well matched and their interactions are humorous due to MCs teasing and quite sweet.

The world building was quite good and the plot tight.

5 stars for this amazing book.

Well-written story with good character developement, good-pacing, and presentation to technical law jargans that doesn't drive me to sleep. There's no major action or end-of-the-world suspense; just simple events that retain my interest enough to finish the novel in a few days and will re-read.

A few major points I appreciate about this novel:

  • The characters are MATURE - meaning that they are grown adults who act like grown adults. The OP aspect of MC and ML are justified because of their up-bringings and prior experiences. Any comments of naivety, outstanding luck or capabilities were played on the fact that the MC is supposed to be a "intern".
  • the realistic representation of a lawyer's life - not every case they cover is the ultimate finaly. The very first one covers the defendent
    Spoiler

    who was wrongly accused

    [collapse]
and after they complete the trial, they move on to other cases. This initially left me hanging, frustrated that the whol story wasn't concluded. Then I realized how most novels and shows focus on the primary trials to give the audience a wrap up to all cases and this is not realistic.
  • The banters. In part, it's great chemistry, but it's build on a foundation that they are both lawyers and retorts has been ingrained in their blood.

Fantastic author, no surprises here.

Really enjoyed the relationship between the main leads. I would say most of the story is carried by the mystery of the bombing before the MC unveils his true identity, and then followed by the wonderful tension between the various members of the cast.

I found myself tearing up or growing great empathy for many of the cast members, which is the hallmark of a good story.

There are a lot of mysteries and twists. Unfortunately, I wasn't as drawn into the cases/court appearances as I would have... more>> liked. Being a huge fan of Ace Attorney, I thought I would enjoy reading about the court defenses, but unfortunately, the majority of my interest was more captured by the day-to-day office politics and intern shenanigans more than the characters appearing savvy at court.

I was slightly disappointed by...

Spoiler

how the bombing case and the Sweeper's background was handled. I thought that both cases would have a stronger presence in the story, but the bombing was pretty much wrapped up in a few sentences, and the Sweeper had very little relationship with the main cast. So all of that off-screen or non-personal connection made some of the twists fall short and the climaxes were lacking as a result.

We're never told what the Sweeper's motivation was, his personality is as ambiguous as the various disguises he's worn over the years, so it was very difficult to view him as more than a 2D psychopath. Which made his character stand out as sadly flat when everyone else had been fleshed out so well.

If we could have gotten a little more of that personal connection or some kind of non-fake interaction/motivation, it would have been especially impactful during the final twist and reveal at the end.

Overall an excellently translated piece. <<less

Let me get one gripe out of my chest first before I dive into a brief review.

I wish there were more court cases in this novel. That's it. That's the only gripe.

This is a rare all-in-one story where you truly do get the genres you came for. Romance, mystery, sci-fi, comedy, etc. And all that not overly done at all. The way it's intelligently narrated was a feast for my sanity. When I like a novel, I tend to just lazily read along. When I really like a novel, I... more>> just dive in with gusto. I finished this in one sitting and didn't even skip any parts - which I tend to do when things in a story get dragging. The cases are over-arching (except for the first one) and drives the plot with no fillers to bog it down. This was quite the refreshing read and a definite favorite for me. Especially with the characters - main and supporting ones - being quite endearing. <<less

thank you so much for sharing this wonderful story to us, this novel is probably one of the best novels that I've read since I started reading Chinese novels (with eng. Translation Ofcourse! Haha!) , This is one of those novels that you've been excited to read and right after reading it completely, you would want to read it all over again, there are lots of hints that maybe those characters are off but eventually after learning the facts, you would have nothing but good feelings, like you're always be glad that those characters are infact good people that would support and join the fight against those criminals, seriously, I can't count how many times I cried ever since I started and finally reading the final chapter but, those tears were with happiness, silliness and laughter too. This is one of those novels that would give you lots of feels, and I'm glad that I read it too. Thank you!

So hey if you're planning to read this one, please do so, cause I'm sure you will love it too. 💖

Thank you translators for the translations as this is a long read. But once I had one foot in, it went by faster than I expected. For hovering at 200 chapters, I thought this would span many cases but there was only like 3 or 4 cases in it. The pacing was good so nothing felt draggy. There's not a lot of misc characters, especially per case, thankfully, as well.

I loved the whole cast of characters. Of course the main characters, special mention to young master Joe, Dr Lin... more>> and even the landlord. The way their stories kind of weaved together was really well done.

The romance moved faster than I expected but it's a really well-balanced romance.
Spoiler

The secret identity lasted way shorter than I expected. The slight hints of feelings being reciprocated was very sweet. And the subsequent relationship was even sweeter. There's deep trust between them and they stood as a unit.

[collapse]

I would have like a little more on
Spoiler

the side CP of Joe and Ke Jin. And even a little more on Jack's story because I think he's part of the story was the saddest for me.

Overall, despite the daunting length of the story, it's a very fast and satisfying read. <<less

A well written novel. The writer build and wave the story into my liking. And the romance ain't sappy sugar coated however, it doesn't lack of feeling sweet and honeyed (thanks to the bullshitting banter betwen them).

Wonderful, funny, and interesting novel, as expected from Mu Su Li. If you like bickering couples, sharp-tongued, sarcastic, and shameless characters, and mysteries, you will definitely enjoy this novel. The plot of this novel is set in the future and has a science fiction undertone; the main characters are lawyers, and the plot revolves around their investigation, which makes the story special and unique. There were arcs about different court cases that were really interesting to read.

What makes this story even more brilliant is that the characters are amazing. MC's... more>> and ML's characters are wonderful; I love when novels describe the main characters backgrounds and you can see and understand why they became the people they are today. Their separate stories were interesting. Also, it is a true joy to observe and read about MC and ML's interaction and relationship. Because the MC is silver-tongued and loves teasing people, dialogues are funny and entertaining. He can basically drive anyone crazy. Only ML has a slight immunity against his sharp tongue, but sometimes even he is helpless. Because of this, even if you don't like investigations and law-themed novels, you will still enjoy reading this story.

Mu Su Lis's writing is too good; the plot is fast-paced, and the characters are too likable; their relationships and backgrounds are complicated; sometimes you feel sad on their behalf, and sometimes you can't help but laugh out loud. It's not a small novel, but I read it really quickly; I couldn't put it down. I wouldn't say that it's Mu Su Li's best work, but it's really good. If you have read Mu Su Li's other works, you definitely know that it is worth your time, but if you have not, I truly recommend it. As you may already have guessed, I am a big Mu Su Li's fan, but this review isn't biased. This novel is definitely worth reading. <<less

This was one of the best BL novels I have read and I read more than 300.

First of all, the plot was really well thought and well executed. The side characters were not used as cannon fodders and thrown away. They were necessary for the plot. Their personalities and thoughts were not summarized but given to us in bits and pieces just like how it works in real life. Young Master Joe and the reporter were my favorites.

The MC and ML were obviously OP characters but not in a golden... more>> finger / protagonist’s halo way. They were just clever people, really and honestly clever. I loved them both. Especially the most untoxic gong award goes to Lawyer Gu. Yan Suizhi was 10/10 as a character. Maybe a little too independent, but he was able to let the love in and change his lone-wolf type closeted demeanor to a great degree. I really really enjoyed their slow burn romance.

I don’t know anything about law but the way they portrayed law looked way too professional to me. The author-sama must have done their research well if not them being already a working member in this field.

Another good thing was that there were some techs necessary for the plot that we didn’t have irl. They were explained quite logically without delving into their technical side too much. I appreciate this simplicity. No word was written excessively. I hate it when the authors just give a short summary of their world instead of slowly building their world through detailing. There’s a difference in quality between showing and telling. I hate telling when it is done too much.

I’ll give an example.

1. Telling: “So the world I transmigrated in was an ABO world where three subgenders existed, alphas, betas and omegas. Alphas are at the top of the society due to their strong physical and mental powers... ”

2. Showing: “Since the time I have transmigrated into this world I noticed that something was wrong with my nose. At first I thought I developed hypersensitivity or the original owner of this body had a heightened sense of smell. But yesterday I realized that not only I smelled some strange odours wafting from people around me, I also reacted to them in particular ways. Sometimes I was repulsed by them and wanted to either dodge or encounter them head on aggressively but did not know how to do so. But sometimes I loved the smell too much that my body started to feel hot all over... ”

I definitely prefer the second one as writing style and this novel’s writing was exactly like that, fed us bits and pieces, only explaining when necessary.

It's really good and interesting BTW the troupe is younger gong x older shou, teacher-student duo. Both of them are really sweet as well as their love being absolutely pure. The shou is so funny. His sarcasm always sends me to mars fr wkwkwkwk. Overall I enjoyed this book a lot. Just that the last 20 chapters however, I felt that author-nim dragged it a bit making me loose the "feeeeelllinggg" I had when reading the other chapters. Anyways, Its a worthy book to binge upon! You should totally give... more>> it a try <3~ <<less

Not really my type of novel, but it's certainly a good one. Well-written with fleshed-out characters. The legal system/lawyer parts weren't difficult to understand, and the face-slapping was well done. The characters weren't super interesting to me personally (not my types really), but the emotional moments in the novel definitely hit. I appreciated the comedic undertones in the novel.

A lone journey..

This novel is very well written. The author had put a great effort writing this story because everything was up to detail. It's like experiencing the story as a bystander. It was really nice reading journey. The plot was really something I didn't expect at the beginning. The twist and turns we had there were slowly and nicely taken out and solved.

Characters in this story are very memorable and loving. Their interactions, warmth in their relationships, the memories they share throughout their youth and as well as in... more>> their adulthood.. All are nicely depicted.

Translations were really nice and this will be an unforgettable reading experience.

Highly recommend! <<less

Very enjoyable, well written novel.

One of the stories with the most gripping plots I've read. The author is very skilled at building tension—case in point one of the chapters where the female acquaintance catches them in the act and had my blood pressure spiking for like 2 chapters. Did not think I would get this stressed out over genetic experimentation.

I enjoyed the relationship between the MC and ML, but I have to admit that I often got exasperated by the MC. Feel like he could have been a lot less... more>> dishonest and stubborn all the time, making it hard on the ML. The ML is obviously just an adorable cinnamon roll who might be a lil frozen.

Loved the side characters as well, there were a ton that didn't feel like they were barely in the picture. Enjoyed this immensely, wish it were longer. Thanks for the amazing translation. <<less

MC?

witty, shameless, liar, hilarious.

... more>> What makes it better? ML.

These two fit each other like a puzzle. They banter nonstop. No one is willing to back down from a fight.

In the midst, there is actually a plot. A series of cases they actually try to solve. Those cases are also interesting.

So, it's fun. MC is Fun.

But, MC's character isn't that simple. He isn't as easygoing as he shows. He is a professional liar. The depth of his personality makes me love him.

Ah, ML, he never smiles. Like, never. But, I still find him quite cute.

Till now, I can't even imagine these two kissings. I can tell ML has a deep attachment to MC. And MC thinks ML isn't bad. That's about it.

Anyway, unlike other novels where MC's character suddenly gets duller as the story progresses, here, MC never stops being awesome. Nor does Ml. <<less

There were some plot holes that I was somewhat confused about even after finishing the story, but the overall quality is so good that I can't really remember what were those holes.

Musuli is one of my favorite danmei writers and the translation here does her justice. The story deserves all the hype around it and the translators did a wonderful job bringing this gem to us.
