Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.Reborn to 1996, Bei Yao became a four-year-old little dumpling, living opposite the world’s catastrophic devil who had a crush on her twenty years later. Devil Pei Chuan was now five years old, with disabled legs and inferiority complex.
Later they became seventeen, Bei Yao became a “school flower” of her high school. Pei Chuan froze, clasped his wheelchair tightly, and warned her, “Don’t say you like me, or else …” Bei Yao hugged his neck and smiled sweetly at him. Pei Chuan couldn’t help but hold her waist, and his suppressed emotions broke out. Belonging to his heart for two lives, Bei Yao wanted to know what the devil was like.

Alright so I haven't read the whole novel, nor have I read it from the beginning, just randomly started reading from chapter 50 and the mtl'd 40 more chapters.
Rant alert - second half of the book
You could say that the novel focuses on disabilities and hardship that comes with them, making mistakes and redemption that comes after them (in this case the ml's being imprisoned), hardship after being released from prison, mental breakdown after your child was subjected to extreme harm. But the novel doesn't really explore any of these topics. The ml's suffering after he was kidnapped as a 4 year old, his mother's breakdown - resulting in her rejecting him because of his missing leg (???) - and all the misfortune he has gone through seem really forced, as if the FL was supposed to be the only ray of sunshine in his life. And so all his suffering happened just so he would be subjected to prejudice, his self-esteem would drop to ground levels and the FL would accept him as he is, even wait more almost 10 years for his release from prison. Which ultimately was 5 years later, but the ML lied, so the FL would falsely believe he's still in prison and gain experience in the world, to let her know that he can't provide for her, he is disabled and prison-stained all the the other bs even though he can make millions in days, can plot to marry her, making himself the safe marriage option instead of the villainous rich second generation bastard who wants to take the FL as foil to prevent danger to his lover. The only good thing the ML did was to turn himself in and then start working with the government. He tries to keep her safe, but even though he knows that a person who likely mu*dered somebody has his eyes on her, he still can't protect her and could only hire thugs to beat the guy up when he showed himself up at her mother's house. As intelligent as the ML is, he should know that when he tipped the crazy woman who's after her son's mu*derer (the big bad villain wanting to forcefully take the FL as his wife), she would force him to his death through business and shady means. Which led to the nonsensical kidnapping incident, because the big bad villain was forced to the path of no return, ugh I can't even. Ah yes, their honeymoon which was already described in one of the spoilers and I specifically read it to see if it was that bad, yes it was kinda bad. The ML couldn't restrain himself after drinking with the fl. The fl, even though was practically asleep, consented and they did the deed. Well, he did because she didn't seem to enjoy it, crying from the pain and feeling bad after eating something bad. Afterwards she falls sick for days, with high fever, doctor telling him he should clean his wife properly after. Regarding the prison and after prison hardship, there was none. The only thing there was, was him being there and characters mocking him for being disabled and in prison, which obviously doesn't really matter as the ML is a super ultra genius who could have ultimately lead a crime syndicate or something, but unfortunately turned himself in, then got turned into a government scientist. The characters don't really have that much depth and development, maybe the ML finally sees that the FL likes him for who he is, and the fact that he has a prosthetic doesn't change that (after numerous words, actions and trials proved it lol), so the development wasn't very reasonable. In my mind I always call these 2.5D characters, as they aren't as developed as some in the better descriptive novels, but are still better than the low-class jp novels characters with completely 0 development. The ml's mother also seemingly was in a trauma after her son's incident, only to turn up after years of absence to sell out his wife to the bad guy and then to throw herself in the river, like wtf. With the psychological tag I expected a bit more, instead got the ML refusing to communicate with the FL when: 1) turning himself in and revealing his identity/crimes to her, resulting in her not knowing what the heck happened for her bf to suddenly go to jail and then lose contact with him; 2) the ML strong-armed the fl's parents to permit their marriage in their moment of weakness, kinda resulting in him becoming what he hated?? I mean the villain undermined their family to have no choice but to marry the FL to him, and the ml, instead of immediately helping them, waited for the right moment in their desperation to offer a magical hand. His inferiority complex really must have hit the bottom of the well, thinking to himself that instead of slowly gaining their trust, he will kill two birds in one stone - prevent the other guy from messing around and gain approval. Neither went smoothly for him though lmao. The female lead always had to be kept in the dark and protected instead of them supporting each other when others stood in their path, with the ML always stating that she's still young etc, as if she had no mind of her own and couldn't carry the burden of her choices. I really didn't like how he never let her in on the important topics and choices - prison, marriage, and even dangers concerning her, with the FL having no choice but to meet the consequences of his choices - waiting for his sentence to end, get suddenly married, get kidnapped.
Went with high expectations regardless, but ultimately wasn't satisfied, as the author really used the ml's disability to practically turn the whole world against him, resulting in the ML becoming really unreasonable, and just plain irritating.
Even though I haven't read the whole book I agree with another review - being disabled doesn't allow you to be a d*ck to others and justify it.
- Realistic
- A boy with a tough life who thinks that he don't deserve to be loved and who isolate from others.
- A novel wich talk about consequences, self-loved and never give up in life and on yourself.
A really good novel.💓💖
