A shut-in accidentally transmigrated while playing a dark R18 banned-cultivation gal game, and he brought this game panel called 《Evil God Cultivation》 with him…

The cultivation of an Evil God requires him to go to the various planes’ dungeons to complete dark missions and finish daily evil events.

“Evil Event triggered: Adopt the orphan Lin Yunyun.”

“Lin Yunyun? Orphan? Old Wang, find someone to hit Lin Yunyun’s old geezer of a father with a car! Quickly, I’m in a hurry!”

This is a story of an ambitious shut-in who, under the “persecution” of the portable game system, happily embarked on the path to become an Evil (human) God (scum).

This is a study of what would actually happen if a protagonist with the mentality of a player transmigrated into a world he considers a game. Interesting and refreshing take on isekai. All of the heartless stuff players might do in a game are playing out in reality here. The author's writing style is short and succinct; he really doesn't waste words. No romance, no harem. Overall, a fun read.

The MC: MC is rational and pragmatic. Has no compunctions about working with former enemies if their goals align, and can... more>> then become enemies again just as fast. He doesn't let arrogance get the best of him, because he knows there's always someone stronger. The world he transmigrates to actually has a few differences with the game he played, so he works to understand the truth of the world, how it functions, and how his game system fits into that. He doesn't rely solely on his game system and conducts his own experiments to better understand this world and how he can become stronger. Always goal-oriented and very proactive, there's never a boring moment with this MC.

The world: a fusion of Eastern cultivation (cultivators, realms), Western fantasy (gods, vampires, undead), and futuristic society (so much space travel). And it works really well. The characters use an interesting power system where they utilize different laws and work towards having better control over these laws. It's fun to watch the MC fight against enemies with OP laws like the law of inversion, the law of reflection, the law of space, the law of cause and effect, etc. With just his law of shadows.

Spoiler

Some examples of the MC's mentality:

    • Not paying NPCs for items/services will decrease his reputation and no NPC will do business with him anymore, so he slaughters the entire store to preserve his reputation
    • MC isn't hung-up about revenge when he's beaten, because "all players understand that as long as they keep playing, they'll eventually become stronger than anyone else in the world".
    • This quote: "Gu Nan will never help an NPC of his own volition. He will only ever do so because of missions, so the relationship between him and anyone else in this world is always a business transaction to the satisfaction of both parties. He won't consider other people's feelings, but at the same time, he won't demand anyone's loyalty either. After all, in the game world, players have long since gotten used to this kind of event - the NPC they rescued with difficulty would someday randomly drop out of their party just because of some story plot line." So he doesn't demand anyone's loyalty, as long as they can bring him results. Betrayal doesn't faze him, because he never trusted anyone to begin with
    • "Players are contradictory creatures who would kill without any guilt yet still disdain dirtying their clothes with blood."
    • "There are two types of NPC organizations: those that players can crush now, and those that players can crush later."
    • MC ignores other characters' taunts and doesn't rise to them, because players often skip the dialogues of wordy NPCs - who has time to listen when you just want to complete the mission as fast as possible? He only responds when they actively try to stop him
    • Trolls people with his blase attitude even when naming something as important as his kingdom or alias, ex. "Ying Ge's Daddy"
    • Because players were evaluated based on their actions, not words, the MC doesn't understand why people would run their mouths off in a fight instead of using that time to launch an attack
    • The MC's method of dealing with problems might seem unreasonable from a normal perspective, but in his view, NPCs that try to stop him during missions are simply humanoid monsters that pop up to attack players during missions, so of course the only logical response is to kill them
    • The MC doesn't magically remember every single little detail about the game; he doesn't have a photographic memory. Instead, he just remembers where he can look for the relevant information
    • No shame. Female character: "What, are you scared?" As long as he's a man and has pride in his strength, he'll rise up to the taun-
MC: "Yeah, it's dangerous ahead, so you can take the lead."

An incredible and unique story, here we follow our protagonist who has been transported to a video game banished back to his home world. The protagonist has a mentality that everybody is just an NPC, waiting to be killed now or later. The tasks his system gives him go before anything else. A novel with one of the most ruthless and descive protagonist (You just have to get through the first 20 chapters and then it's an incredible story). (NO ROMANCE)

If you want more reviews and dark novels, go look into my list Dark Novel + Rational/Evil MC + No romance

An absolute banger, this guy just destroys everything in his way, I mean he's one of those MCs that you'll like, not like some sort of dumbass MC which they call "ruthless" this guy is truly ruthless, and evil. Would totally recommend to anyone who enjoys RI or...

I mean the best thing is that they don't downplay the female characters, I mean like MC obviously more powerful, but one of the things I enjoy is that the female characters are also powerful and have an impact on the novel, unlike... more>> some other novels where the female characters either are there just for being the mc's wives or there for some other dumb reason. <<less

About novel : MC gets transported to game world. Even though the genre is very common but the way in which it is written is very UNIQUE and intriguing. The novel is not dark but kind of goofy (many a times you'll have fits of laughter)

MC Personality : Gu Nan treats everyone as either NPC or monster. So, for others he is cruel, unpredictable and crazy. But from perspective of players he is logical and strategic. He is also more action less talk kind of guy

Other points : Unfortunately,... more>> there are no waifus for MC though there are many interesting lolis. But imo this lack of romance is for its own god looking at mc's personality. The level up is based upon quests at lower levels, then upon kingdom building and at higher levels on hunting bosses. This makes the story less repetitive unlike other novels with same theme.

Conclusion : If you're looking for action-packed, addictive, adventurous, dynamic novel with face-slapping and fast cultivation. This is for you. <<less

It’s okay. However it constantly justifies the MCs actions as players logic which is really weird be the MC acknowledges he isn’t in a game. And also players main motive for a game is usually fun, but the MC doesn’t seem to have much fun (and it seems like he’s just a really good veteran player and not a professional player). All his class advancements are like this is the best choice with no hesitation, which make me think that the game had poor balance.

There are also some nonsensical statements... more>> like: It wasn’t a big deal at all for a player to promise one thing while simultaneously breaking that promise behind the NPC’s back... But if there had to be a promise that players would always honor, then it would certainly be: "If I promised to kill your entire family, then I’ll definitely kill your entire family."

In what game? Like I get that a game titled Evil God my have more bloodthirsty players than most but if a player says I’ll kill an NPC’s entire family if doing so will block progress in a game or if something else comes up that is more interesting players would easily ignore that promise like any other promise. The MC doesn’t care about any of the NPCs but plenty of players really do like character. Especially pretty female waifus and mascots. Unless your the type of gamer who just skips through dialogue. But it’s a VR game so that’s impossible. If you are playing a game that doesn’t let you skip through the story and hate getting involved in lore why not just switch to a game that’s pure gaming mechanics and not so Lore heavy? I could go on an on about the flaws in the player logic justification the MC has. It’s an okay story, but every time (and it happens quite frequently) the story tells me something is obvious in a gamer logic I roll my eyes. Even if some players might like the genocide route many players also like the pacifist route. And in a game like this wear you can’t just reset and have to live with the consequences of you actions genocide isn’t the obvious answer. <<less

Not bad, but plain, MC knows already knows the important information, will never lose or struggle in a fight, face slap everyone, is always right, etc...

Some situations have already repeated two or three times already, and it will continue to occur, and it's not that difficult to know what is going to happen, so... yeah.

Not really recommended, but it's not that bad, so you can try reading it.

I love how the MC is acting like a true gamer, he don't care about the npc and only go to them if he need something or start quests.

there's no romance even though there's many female characters introduced mostly lolis, guess it's the author fetish XD

well for power system there's not much u can talk about since it's your typical cultivation powet system, even though at first stages the MC can't do things like fighting those who have higher realm than him.

finally, I really liked this novel even though I... more>> got bored near the end but it got interesting again thankfully.

well that's all since I'm bad when it comes to writing a review😔 <<less

Great novel, after you get past like the first few chapters, the characters and stuff, is just great! Right now, after c22, I'm like begging for more, I would compare this to Reverend Insanity, except a bit worse, but like RI's a masterpiece, this is like, a novel that I could read after RI, cause after reading RI, I could not read any other novels, but this, this was legit!

I love MC, he's so ruthless and cruel yet he isn't seen as bloodthirsty or anything. He's literally the embodiment of how ordinary people can commit atrocities as long as their mentality and perception of the world is different.

Spoiler

And for Gu Nan, it's the fact that he's in a game world and everyone is an NPC meaning he thinks he's not even killing real people, but people who don't exist.

[collapse]

There are some characters that are memorable but that's only because they keep coming back other than that, every side character and even the MC feels flat sometimes but it's expected when the MC just kills everyone who gets in his way :p

However, that doesn't make the story boring in the least! In fact, there's so much going on and the events are very interesting and no arcs drag on for long at all which constantly keeps your attention and wanting to know what will happen next.

MC is OP but at the same time, he is also prone to getting hurt constantly and letting other people escape whether they're enemy or ally (which he doesn't mind because he is confident in himself and how to deal with NPCs that plot against him) which I find fustrating (cuz I wanna see them die) but at the same time, it's realistic cuz some of these NPCs have lived for thousands of years and have trump cards and stuff. <<less

Evil novel. With no romance or any love life or wife or anything. Parents, family..... Well sorry he left them in first 20 or so chp.

This MC is evil. But I won't say pure evil like RI fang yuan. He is more like, neutral evil

He can help others if he think he can do that without much problem and he is obviously not doing it for free. So one way or another, he got something either earlier or will get something as they decide. So he is not Spiderman. Ok

I... more>> love the ending and explanation. In this novel. That was the best selling point of it, for me personally.

Overall it's just a novel so don't expect too much logic and also expect some problems here and there. But yeah, it's a good read which I reread recently lol

In evil rating on scale of 1 to 10. I'll rate it as 6/10 (evil)

So if you want to read something dark and gritty then don't read it right now. Read it when you are ready to read a smart rational neutral MC with no fetter and who align to self benefit and evil tendencies but is not a villain who roams with the banner "I am evil"

So it's a nice novel with no Chinese number 1 or any such bs. 🙂 <<less

This novel is a work of art for evil MC lovers. In this novel we follow our MC, a former top evil god (in a game), start his journey from a mere mortal to the throne of a top evil god again (in real life).

Throughout his whole journey, because of his previous experience in the game, he treats everybody he meets as a bunch of data or NPC's whose only real goal is to give him quests, so he can earn points and become stronger (most being killed by him).

The... more>> MC is an absolutely rational being that only cares about his benefits, for that he can do anything.

Though, mostly he uses his overwhelming power to do everything, he knows how to plan and scheme too. And a good point to note is nobody's IQ is lower than 0 except MC in this novel, I wouldn't say everyone is scheming a god, but yeah, they at least have some common sense. <<less

Definitely an interesting read, though my main issue was how abrupt the beginning chapters were, most introductory information was glossed over and we immediately jumped into action, which itself wasn't a problem if you're familiar with the genre but I guess it could be better.

The MC is a gamer, through and through, and he treats the world as a game despite realizing that he's living in that world, he has no qualms on killing the people of this world (as he only sees them as NPC) or saves them were... more>> they a potential quest giver/ collaborator. It's a very refreshing take when the MC was actually so detached from his new life, he never tried to mingle with anyone out of human nature, it was all about quests and rewards. I'd definitely keep following this, it's not boring so far and the MC himself isn't an edgy villain, he's just playing a hack and slash game with friendly fire on. <<less

Honestly I wonder if I am reading the same novel everyone else is reading that are giving it such high ratings.

I am going to abstain from giving it rating.

I don't know if it is the way it is translated or the way the author intended it to be that had the translation to come out as such. Regardless, I find this very hard to read and properly follow in context. I gave the first few chapters an attempt before giving up.

I have read other CN novels as well. It is... more>> just something about the way this is narrated that is throwing me off. Kudos to those that can get pass that. <<less

The concept itself is fun, the execution is quite well done.

The only issue this novel has really is its main strenth too: the main character.

He is flat, lacking in personality.

You could say that after hundreds of chapters, "because he is a player" became a weak justification for an overall lack of care. You don't need to be good, you don't need to be attached, but he is pretty much doing a speedrun, not trying to enjoy the way through. Him calling everyone an NPC to justify his views is a... more>> bit of a straw man argument.

If he was actually evil or an antihero it would've 100% been a better read.

The main takeaway is, he lacks in personality, which makes him vastly less interesting than anyone else in this novel. This has the advantage of making the side characters all the more visible, but it also throws away a good chunk of read time to what is essentially as interesting as a bottle of water evaporating.

Don't look only at how much I criticized the main character though, he is still leagues better than any MC who claims to be evil and one chapter later already plays the good guy card. <<less

A great piece of literature. Sure it has its problem, but it’s a much better story than most other cultivation novels. It’s not a harem collector and the MC actually supports true gender equality. The right is good as well, not the best, but this is a Chinese novel at its core, so it’s to be expected. The characters come and go, but the important ones stick around and we get to see their efforts as Gu Nan evolves. But the real jewel of this novel is the MC. Never... more>> thought I’d see a truly evil character but this proved me wrong! Not caring about others and doing whatever it takes to get to the top. I’d equate him to Feng Yuan if he wasn’t so petty and prideful, which is even better! This guy will not take an insult and won’t play the insect or give face to anyone! Oh Gu Nan, when will I find another protagonist like you... <<less
