Floating Immortal Order

Description

An Immortal does not differentiate between good and evil, nor do they care about the distinction between black and white. They do not ask what is right or wrong, and consider all living things as dogs. In spite of everything, Immortals pursue the Dao with bitter resolve.

Any being who disturbs my Dao, good or evil, will be forced to meet their karma, reduced to nothing more than ashes.

TLDR; This story isn't worth it.

I read this because I thought MC is like Gu Nan from AHEG. But turn out to be quite a dissapointing novel, MC is clearly someone who kills without care about human life but unlike Gu Nan from AHEG his routine is boring asf he just travel here & there and then cultivates. That's all.

I actually quite like the personality of the MC of this novel, he's indifferent and has no needless attachments yet he feels so natural and his character doesn't feel like he... more>> was forced to act cool because of the author's whims. He has the bearing of a real Immortal who had experience the vicissitudes of life unlike other characters where even though they're suppose to be a Millenium Old Monster but acts like a social butterfly.

He also doesn't have the Main Character halo which follows the cliches, aside from his appearance he's pretty much just a mob character, he's not offending people from time to time nor someone suddenly trying to bully him, no, Rather the other people doesn't bother him at all. But this also makes the story incredibly boring, there's not much happening in the story, author didn't bother making side-plots, I would prefer if MC do some scheming at least but there's none of that smart/schemer MC, nothing! This MC like... just think of Fang Yuan from RI but no scheming, no rival, no enemies.

This story is well written but author doesn't bother to make it fun and less chore to read. <<less

Immortal Floating Order is the type of story that can easily mislead as the plot unfolds only after more than 200 chapters. In cause, the true character of the protagonist takes a long time to shine, and the author did not hesitate to take his time.

The fact is that the book is far too short compared to what the author had as a plan to build the world.

Also, the electrical system is simply exquisite with incredible depth mixing many cultivations principles (cause and effects, reincarnation cycle, netherworld, heavens, Shinto god's).... more>> Sincerely the lore of this story is probably one of the best I have read in a long time, a disappointment that the author could not utilize to his maximum potential (he rushed the story because of personal issues)

The protagonist is like a celestial being, without any emotion, ruthless and determined, a solitary being who will live alone without any affection of any kind, who will not hesitate to cut off any cause and effect instantly.

Finally, if you like the XIanxia genre with a protagonist that behaves like a real immortal, a being that surpasses human cognition. Then this novel is for you don't hesitate much to read this story. <<less

Reading Floating Immortal Order, it feels like the main character is a genuine immortal. It cannot be understated how valuable that feeling is, nor how much more genuine it makes the story reads because of it. On top of that, the novel reads like it is of published quality. To clarify, I mean carefully drafted, edited, rewritten, and thought through. This is unlike the great majority of web novels and other such found here, where quality is nigh unheard of.

For me, reading a proper prologue, instead of some slideshow of... more>> what will happen in the future, brought immense joy and immediately set up a story I knew I would want to read. If you pay attention, it actually gives food for thought, and this applies not just to the prologue. If you like the idea of the novel, then consider this review a 'guarantee of quality', rather than a judgement of the storytelling, narrative, setting, or characters—I love them each, personally, but I can only speak for myself.

As another reviewer said, the translation quality is superb. It is evident that they put a lot of effort into translating this novel, and for that I must thank and commend them. Truly, their dedication to the work is apparent. <<less

Since I have only read the current translated chapters, I cannot say if this novel will end as something amazing nor if it will be a disappointment, however, as far as I have read, I think it is worth looking forward at how this would end.

The premise is interesting (the synopsis sounds cool) and as of chapter 16, even if it can only be considered as an instruction of the story, I want to read more. The writing and narrative make you feel as if you are reading a novel,... more>> not a "story" of a world that literally revolves around one person, although the MC has an advantage (he seems to be someone reincarnated but with lost memories, only with an innate treasure and a soul cultivation technique, at least at the start I would rather say "innate perception" more than reincarnated being, though), the way the MC himself and his circumstances are introduced doesn't give you a feeling of "bullshit", but rather of a story in a world that feels alive even though in chapter 16 the information known to the reader is almost nothing about said world. Since I have just read the 16 chapters I cannot really continue talking about the novel, but, well, this is what I thought and feel like this will end as a really worth read.

Also, I have to say that one of the reasons I think too highly of this novel is because of the translation, it is really, really, really great, 10/10, the traducer really puts efforts into it and I think it manages to convey the original meanings of the narration. Really amazing. <<less

This is not a full review, and this series isn't long enough for a Mango approval yet. But goddamn is this an amazing cultivation novel which feels real and fresh. It subverts your expectations in most places, and when it does tropes, then it does them perfectly. I can confidently say that any fan of cultivation novels should try this series. Very good commentary on what it means to be immortal, along with some veiled observations of society in general. This has no romance, and it is no nonsense. The... more>> story can feel a bit non linear but for me, that just shows the author has the balls to try different things. <<less

Very good Novel, some of the best world building out of any CN I have read. One thing worth noting is that this is made for veteran cultivation novel readers. If this is your first or second cultivation novel, you will struggle to understand some of the concepts and frankly wont enjoy it.

Link between first chapter and second chapter was a bit abrupt, but keep reading.

In my opinion, this novel stands out as one of the best. Each character leads a unique life, from beggars to formidable beings like Mo Yu. Despite their potential for cruelty, this novel distinguishes itself by exploring the lives and concerns of even the most humble characters. The plot avoids relying too heavily on advantages, as seen when a character other than the main character acquires the Water Yin technique. It captures a world where power imbalances create a tangible atmosphere. Unlike recent trends where authors often focus solely on... more>> harem or romance, this story takes a refreshing approach. It avoids the lengthy pursuit of love-related matters seen in works like "Warrior's Promise" and dispels romantic clichés similar to "Legend of the Swordsman." The author's careful consideration prevents the narrative from becoming entangled in repetitive romantic storylines. In the vast immortal world, the protagonist faces a choice between seeking immortality or succumbing to degeneracy—it's a simple choice. <<less

Personal rating: 4, 2 stars

General rating: 4, 6 stars

Alignment: Somewhere between true neutral and lawful evil, though there might be a transformation at chapter 245~ that I haven't yet seen due to the novel only being halfway translated.

Minor spoilers ahead. There is no poison in this novel. Whenever you think that there is some, give it 5 chapters and you will see that it was a mirage. The story is first about the main character trying to figure out who he was, who he is, and what he wants. To... more>> not spoil too much, he eventually decides that he has to kill some people at the top of the food chain as well as return the heavenly order to how brutal it was before.

Pros: Fairly well developed world building and interesting story. Eventually, an evil main character. Cold and detached before.

Cons: Main character's disregard for morality only tends to show up in a reactionary way. You don't get to see it that much (at least until the chapter I'm at). The fights aren't as engaging as in some of the novels I find to be top tier, there's a lack of "oompf" moments, where you yourself feel excited, though this is may be more due to my personal taste. <<less

Overall rating: 4.5/10

The author tried. What this book has going for it is a potential world. There are too many issues with how the story progresses. The story is slow, really slow. A good chunk of the book is spent on typical xianxia BS. The first 200 chapters are somewhat interesting, but also boring and makes your brain hurt. The author tried to create plot twists, but the issue is they lack a punch to them. The reader doesn't feel any excitement from the twist just surprise. There are some... more>> deus ex machina elements that get cleared up later, but these elements feel cheap regardless and make the story seem bad. The author's writing skills are not great. He can't progress the story well, has too much BS peanut gallery, and tr*sh xianxia elements in the book, which ruins the experience. The MC isn't the MC. Why? Because stuff just happens in the book. The MC never reacts.

Spoiler

He has no emotions except for some residual fear of death. Which is the point the author is trying to get across, but that happens so late that the reader feels exhausted by the ever monotonous plot that suddenly somehow changes without any foreshadowing

[collapse]

The extra stories are excellent. Although they seem like rants, they provide great insight into the world. What I wish the author did instead of wasting words on xianxia BS was to explore the glaring solutions that the world has. The questions about immortality and creatures themselves. But the author had too many personal issues, and since his audience isn't that big, it is hard to draw in people with deep thought provoking text. Instead, he opted for a more mainstream approach, which destroys this novel

This novel is enjoyable at some points, but by the end I was tired of the unnecessary peanut gallery who took 70% of the chapter. This novel had potential but the author failed really really hard. <<less

A low two or high one, maybe lower. I wanted to quit at ~300 but just decided to finish it.

The book started out pretty good with a really interesting premise, but then got worse, then worse, then worse, until it got to the final 10 chapters where I am thinking to myself how it got this bad so quickly. Characters I don't care about, plot lines that went absolutely nowhere, so many missed opportunities, and an unsatisfying end.

I think the ending is supposed to mean that ... more>>
Spoiler

the entire novel is a tribulation and you need to pass it or like, redo it or something

[collapse]

I mean the main "bad guy" isn't even dealt with in a satisfying way, I almost wish I read something like MGA instead of this, and it makes it difficult to read another one of NothingIsEternal's suggestions because the ones I have seen him recommended have turned out to be so bad. Really, just don't read this, I would rather just reread Reverend Insanity which shares quite a few similarities. <<less

Starts well, I love cold/evil MCs and was really happy to finally see a water user out thousands of novels with fire users (Please more water/ice users, I beg!)

Pacing is ridiculously slow, cultivation wise.

Spoiler

It just starts looping. MC just seems to constantly go on sect missions and never actually cultivates. Been the same cultivation level basically from the start even though he has enough resources to seclude himself for a while like he did as a kid.

Going to drop for now. Come back in a year and hope the pacing has changed. <<less

The MC is Chaotic evil, example: he travels to a random city then goes to its brothel then auction (it happens one time a year but the MC arrives on that day like all events) He sees that they are selling sl*ve girls, then he gets angry and kills all the people that were there, even the innocent ones, then he kills the leader of the city...
