A shut-in accidentally transmigrated while playing a dark R18 banned-cultivation gal game, and he brought this game panel called 《Evil God Cultivation》 with him…

The cultivation of an Evil God requires him to go to the various planes’ dungeons to complete dark missions and finish daily evil events.

“Evil Event triggered: Adopt the orphan Lin Yunyun.”

“Lin Yunyun? Orphan? Old Wang, find someone to hit Lin Yunyun’s old geezer of a father with a car! Quickly, I’m in a hurry!”

This is a story of an ambitious shut-in who, under the “persecution” of the portable game system, happily embarked on the path to become an Evil (human) God (scum).

This is pretty solid fun. It really does feel like you are reading about someone playing a game, but it's interesting and the characters are not annoying. Some of the humor even made me chuckle.

This is so funny. XD

I'm having a hard time getting into comedy novels but when it comes to this, I laugh so many times. I think my humor is really broken. The MC's whole personality is a Gamer, he treats everything as a game and people around him as NPCs even though he knows they're real.

He's like a MMORPG or GTA player, he treat human life as dirt. All people in the story treats him as unreasonable monster (ie: If I am to scale it. If MAX 'Unreasonable Meter' is... more>> 100 then MC would be 95) where he kills everything and rob everyone but he still remains goal oriented like a gamer who's completing a quests.

The side characters in the story are quite a schemer but it still has the common Chinese xianxia trope where some (not everyone) side characters acts like very annoying young masters, but this one is enjoyable to read for me because MC doesn't wait for them to finish talking, if the young masters mess with him, he just massacre their whole family. In fact the young masters here are more reasonable than the MC. It's so funny how they're trying to reason with the MC but MC treats them as just NPC yapping about their dialogues. XD

This story is written with a plan. Things that happen at the beginning still well connected in the middle, story got weaker after 400+ chaps but still good. I might finish this if it was well translated but I'm already satisfied so I just stopped. If you want to continue reading without official tl, I suggest reading it on the raw in sj. Uukanshu then use chrome translation rather than other sites.

For how much the cover shows off the demon form and the shadow daggers, Gun Nan spends over 2/3 of the novel punching people to death while tanking damage with his regen.

Honestly, the first 1/3 of the novel is probably the most fun, troubling stuff aside. You really get the vibe of a min-maxer mmo player being dropped in an expansive open world. Characters come and go, switching from enemy to ally (and usually back to enemy) on the flip of a dime. During this part he isn't op enough... more>> to plow through absolutely everything, but he uses his strength when he can take advantage of it. MC is out for his power gaming and his power gaming alone...
Spoiler

except when some stuff about his origins or something unexpected shows up. In those rare cases he may take some interest, but this only comes into play in the last 100 chapters or so.

[collapse]

Once the world of the gods comes into play around half way through the novel, you really get a taste of his ability to produce chaos. The problem is the majority of these projects he invests time into amount to nothing and are quickly abandoned for more fisticuffs. This is double for his other abilities. Some of them get completely thrown out the window after being used once or twice (hello diety form) despite being hyped up as a trump card to plan around. He's so overpowered, the strategy 99% of the time becomes do as much damage as possible to the enemy with hit and run tactics with his op body or shadow law against the opposing person's divine kingdom (and sometimes suckered punching them in the face or stomach) or outright blasting their head off with a punch.

Don't be surprised if seemingly important future npcs completely disappear from the story with a whimper. Excluding of ongoing enemies, characters that fall outside of that drop to the wayside or become enemies. Even then some of these enemies get hyped up for hundreds of chapters just to end up dying to a single punch or just forgotten as MC powers up to ridiculous realms other can only dream of achieving in 10k+ Years. Considering the sheer number of side characters in this novel, this decision was probably for the better. Forget Gu Nan remembering who star ruler #8277 is, I don't even remember after 150 chapters. You may as well directly toss chekov's gun out with these npcs, because in the long run, maybe only 2-3 characters make it past having appearances for more than half of the book. Even these "major" side characters are quickly dropped at the ending, barely mentioned again.

The ending in particular is extremely rushed. An attempt was made to try to settle things, but the ending is very open to interpretation. There's definitely still a bunch of questions lingering, but it did resolve the majority of the really pressing things.

Overall, it's kind of a fun overpowered time. It gives me overlord vibes, but with more mmo malice versus misunderstandings. Be ready for Gu Nan to do some horrible sh*t and attack people (even past and current allies) for no reason other than it's a good source of points. If you can get past that and the ending issue, it's a decent time waster. <<less

The protagonist is a psychopath. There's no getting around it. Pure evil, no emotions or empathy for anyone, positive or negative. His only goal is to power up. This is the epitome of the psychopath villain in anime who's strong and does unhinged stuff and no one can do anything about it but plot. He's like, Makima or something. But more unhinged. This type of protagonist is a breath of fresh air compared to protagonists who get angry at the flick of a switch or too emotionally invested in one... more>> thing. Oh yea, no romantic subplot either. God, I do like this novel.

Man's just a gamer and everyone else is on the chopping board as exp.

EDIT: I dropped this a while back. Don't remember exactly where, maybe at chapter 100~. It was getting a bit too faceslappy and repetitive. And he was killing and maiming people for no reason besides them inconveniencing him or being slightly rude, ostensibly just people who made him annoyed or disrespected. I felt like it completely went against his previous character that was a doormat for powering up, cared about nothing and no one besides leveling up; it felt like he was just a regular hotblooded teenager on a power trip, just another OP CN faceslapping action protagonist.

3 stars at that point because I really liked the earlier chapters. <<less

This is a dark novel.

It's amazing.

This is basically what happen when you play a game over and over again until you don't even care about the dialogues anymore and you will even go to hell just to get the last ending.

Engaging, predictable, repetitive. Consistently heavy. Not a pleasant read, but great contrast value. Has no bottom line but will help you find yours. Extreme at places, often unnecessarily dark, "evil" to the point of lacking depth and becoming one-dimensional.

Extremely fun

Very original, the more popular stories don't have the different characters and plot that this have. Not saying it is the best written thing ever but it is fun. The main character is pretty simple and I think that amplifies the side characters.İ didn't expect to like the progression, and side characters as much. The powers are interesting and simple, fights are quick and slick plot points are interesting.İ think the first 30 chapters or so (before he ascends) are pretty slow, and then it picks up fuel slowly.... more>> Give it a few chapters before dropping, it may be not that unique but it is interesting and fun. The characters may be not that unique but they are all interesting. My fave was the lesbian

so yeah I really recommend it <<less

The beginning is really great, but it definitely goes down by the end. In the beginning, it's a great story with a MC that treats the world like a game... and he's the type of player that ignores faction rep systems and always defaults to the mu*der route. A couple out-of-context examples: he draws aggro by blowing up children and later takes a loli out slaughtering, having her exterminate entire towns.

However, he goes from using tactics and multiple methods and skills to literally just punching everything to death. For around... more>> the entire second half, that's about it. It doesn't drag long enough that you'd get bored and drop it, but compared to how great the first half is...

There are tons of interesting systems and skills that get brought up early and then never touched again. It definitely feels like the author was just winging it, with no real plan aside from "MC kills stuff and gets stronger". It's still entertaining, but it had the potential to be much better imo. Ends up with a 4 because the first half is a 5, and second is a 3.

Original review at c142:

Spoiler

This is one of the best MC I've read so far, he is pretty much totally detached (seeing everyone as NPCs) and casually mu*ders people often. His only downside is total immunity to women, which plenty of people would see as another plus. The world has some things that don't really make sense yet, but the translation is still early in the story so it may be explained later. It was a great short read so far, and I'm looking forward to coming back to it when the translation is farther along.

Pretty average overall, the MC and his abilities are interesting but that's about it - all his interactions are shallow as he is focused only on getting stronger and speedrunning the entire "game". There is little to no friendship or romance or in fact any real relationship between the MC and anyone else that doesn't have to do with benefits. I would say the only thing carrying the novel is the fighting but even that is kinda shallow after the first hundred chaps where the MC keeps steamrolling everyone in... more>> the same realm yada yada.

I guess it's not bad for a guilty pleasure read as it's only ~600 chapters and the endings of all the scenes are pretty easy to guess. The MC's power is quite similar in a lot of ways to the Solo Levelling ability but eh not really that into the whole edgy shadow power ngl haha <<less

The series actually started out pretty fun, but what made it fun was the constant repetition and the fact that the little things that changed didn't differentiate enough that it ended up as a boring series. But again, to talk about the series, it is a series where the main character trolls in time, when everyone says npc and destroys the place, which can be fun to read.

If we list the shortcomings in the series

•Its repetitive nature pushes the series to a much-anticipated end

•There are characters that suddenly disappeared, I... more>> still don't know what happened.

•There are some logic errors in the series, after saying that there is no such thing in the old episodes, it is easy to say that there was such a thing, easily destroying the pleasure of reading.

To say a little about the good aspects

•The main character is goal-oriented and does not give too much importance to the side characters.

•Ability to easily overlook people

•The fact that the series offers concepts that can be interesting from time to time (they were pretty fun, although they got lost in time)

In the light of these thoughts, my score for the series is 5/10. <<less

I always avoid novels where MCs are evil or villains because most of the time they're edgy and cringe but this novel is an exception. The MC is a player straight in his core, he does not care about other people or in his case, he sees them as NPCs and when we cause havoc in GTAs, killing hundreds and thousands, we feel nothing, it's just part of the game, that's all. Besides what I like the most in this novel are the fight scenes, god knows how many cultivation... more>> novels out there that takes fights for tens of chapters, characters chattering non-stop and explaining their skills. This novel is different, the fights are abrupt and fast, no matter how strong your opponents are as long as they're caught off guard, they're dead. No life saving talismans that automatically saves them no BS power that breaks the very OP protagonists attack. Honestly, it's been a while since i've read a cultivation novel that I did not dropped midway so this is such a breathe of fresh air with its unique settings. <<less
