This novel is a laugh-out-loud comedy masterpiece. The family relationships are heartwarming, the romance well-done, and the conspiracies and villains excellently plotted. There’s a ton of inside jokes about the genre of ancient royal court/harem novels, so if you enjoy this genre you will def get a kick out of this story.

An absolutely wonderful novel. The characters are extremely well-fleshed out. All characters have depth and reasons for their actions. Some start out as typical villain trope but show strong character and morality. I absolutely loved the fact that no one is completely good or completely bad. Those who do good are also bad and those who do bad can also do good. The families of MC and ML are adorable. No angst at all. Just MC and ML flirting with each other and on the way catching enemies

Yue Xia Die Ying has always been one of my favourite authors, her works managing to amuse me and intrigue me. This one was more on the humor side, and I loved reading every moment of it!

Hua Liuli, pale and sickly daughter of Hua military family, who absolutely cannot fight, oh no sir, not at all! And no scheming in that innocent face of hers either, how could you say that?

And her brothers, well they're all very simple and sober and staunchly loyal as well!

Combine this with the frivolous personality... more>> of the Crown Prince—who loves to spend his time on leisurely activities, and has not a care for the empire he will inherit, not a single care mind you, not even a bit—somehow makes for a disastrously hilarious couple. These two can take the world by storm!

This novel is unexpectedly a light story with comedy. It features unusual characters like a pretend-to-be-weak MC, a nice and cool-headed ML prince, and a loving emperor. Highly recommended to read.

I love this novel! It's both entertaining and insightful, characters that at first would seem similar to many other novels yet there are definitely NOT... all characters have their own personality and reasoning, and all have their good and bad sides.

The Emperor, Crown Prince and the Hua family are my most favourite characters particularly the Emperor and Hua Yingtng and Hua Liuli.

I highly recommend reading this even if at first it seems similar to many palace stories... IT ISN'T! So read it and you would laugh, you would love, have... more>> some bittersweet feelings and will laugh again. <<less

I am not going to give any spoilers. But you must read this if you want a light read of a unique and amazing Emperor and his subjects. Not to mention the intelligent Crown Prince and his Princess also deeply talented painting genius the fifth prince. 😂

It's a cute story, but the fluff is literally just that, fluff. I wish we had more after-wedding chapters, but it's okay, I guess.

The novel has so many funny sections and I like the way the FL became a lucky star. I recommend the novel for light-hearted reading. The translator Krish728 did a good justice in translating the novel.

BG romance, historical, palace intrigue, comedy, slice of life

I love this author’s historical novels. This one isn’t my favorite out of her extensive library, but it has the author’s signature unique characters, wit, and light-hearted drama. It focuses more on the intrigue and FL’s luck and ends with the marriage. There is not as much depth to the romance and characters which is probably why it took me several starts and stops to finish. However, it’s definitely a fun read if you love ancient China stories like I do.

I saw the high ratings by readers and I picked this novel up.... this novel has no twists and turns, pretty straight forward story with no depth in characters. The first impression of the characters does not vary during the entire read. I wanted to drop this from somewhere around 30-40 chapters but I still persevered and completed this in hope that might get better later since the reviews are so good which did not happen!!! The ending part is so underwhelming and short. It feels like the story was cut abruptly. However, I think it would be unfair to rate this lower just for the ending.

The story is beautifully written. The character that supported the whole plot in my opinion is the Emperor. He doesn't act according to what his enemies expect him to do, time and time again. The Hua family are great characters, but the author just mentions them in passing. We were not really given the opportunity to understand the Hua family more, especially with MC's two older brothers who were just mentioned one or two times. Well well well, another Yue Xia Die Ying's work, and of course, it's good!

At the beginning of the story I felt kinda meh, about the ML and FL, however, as the story goes a lot of things are made clear. It's cute, their relationship is smooth, the characters are loveable and there's an Emperor Chanlong, omg I love him very much. He's certainly one of the best emperors I've seen, not cruel, jealous and suspicious of his officials, he's not overbearing with the concubines nor disrespectful. Please add this book to your booklist if you love black-bellied heroes and heroines. Both of them are great as individuals and together, they make the perfect pair! I loved loved loved the heroine whose only dream was to be a frail beauty. She fooled everyone quite well and even at the end of the novel, except the ML and her BFF, and the villains, I don't think many knew of her true character.

Coming to the characters, each of them is well written. Even someone as small as an assassin... more>> gets to have hilarious closing lines! My favorite was the interaction between the ML and the fifth prince who was a bad painter but thought highly of his skills.

So, if you want to read a novel that is a laugh riot every chapter, well-written character and plot, then this is your book.

I don't know, cuz I was in MTL, as far as I know, the FL and ML didn't have any kids? But in the last chapter, ch 145, the 4th prince had a youngest grandson that can recite poems.......

Entertaining novel. The plot does have intrigue but has a light hearted feel overall.

MC, Hua Liuli, is 15/16 years old and seemingly innocent and frail, which belies her cunning and extraordinary strength. She enters the capital and inadvertently conquers it. Not only turning the scornful into her admirers but also overturning the wicked schemes of hidden enemies.

MC's romance with ML, the crown prince of Great Jin, starts off pure for both sides. So it's cute when ML falls for MC and starts his pursuit.

There are three hidden enemies who are trying to destroy the peace within the country and imperial family.

1. The Xie family from the south. They wanted to modify "the conventions of Great Jin to make the Xie family renowned once again".

2. The second princess (ML's sister). She thought her mother (who really died in childbirth) was mu*dered. She also blamed the emperor and the crown prince for the death of the man she loved.

3. The third prince of the country Daimao. He colluded with the Xie family and second princess to destroy Great Jin.
