He was a beautiful person, who shined brightly among others.
But he didn’t brag or act arrogant.
He was fair to everyone.
Except for his fiancée, Emilia Bern.
“I really want to be free now. I really hate you. From the bottom of my heart.”
“How many times do I have to tell you so you understand? I don’t care about that.”
“What on earth do you want?”
“The Duchess of Meyer. My wife. As you know.”
An engagement only in name, he changed when she decided to end that weary relationship.

She was r*ped by him in chapter 66 and although I commend the translators for a job well done I must say, the r*pe is described in detail, step by agonizing step.
This series progresses beautifully, with sufficient levels of world-building and lore to create a great backdrop for the drama unfolding between Emilia and Hadius' peculiar circumstances. Emilia tries to be as realistic as possible in regards to how she deals with Hadius and his mother. Her reactions are perfectly reasonable given the troubled history and the potential danger that she is in. Whilst some might take issue with Hadius 'staying mom' about what he plans to do, it makes perfect sense when you consider how any misstep can result in harm coming to Emilia and her family due to his mother and the family that she wishes to tie him to. I also like Emilia's pragmatism so far given the world around her and her relationship with Hadius up until the current events. Translation? The quality is excellent and the narrative makes the story flow easily. I'd like to commend Miki at Mystical Merries for their efforts in providing such an enjoyable read thus far. Updated Review: Chapter 69
After endruing the brooding aesthetic, the story becomes a tale of r*pe, back-stabbing and all-round sadness as Hadius shows just how little he cares about our poor MC. His treatment made sense up until the point where he actively forces himself upon her repeatedly because he cannot wrap his head around being honest and warm with the person that he supposedly is in love with. It became so infuriating and depressing that I have decided to discontionue reading this story. However, if BD*M is your fetish, feel free to go ahead and read this to see if it falls closer into the sort of material you enjoy. But alas, the hope that I had for this series have promptly left the building and headed to Bermuda.
Though I understand, the ML’s attitude is pretty frustrating. anyways I’m enjoying it a lot right now, it reminds me of Jane Austen’s “Persuasion” but gender swapped (not sure if this is the correct term to use) and also with the setting (nobility, social rules and all that jazz). You feel for the female lead as the author goes in depth (plus the translation is great too) and she goes through a lot. I like how her feelings are not without reason. I encourage anyone who likes shoujo or Josei to give it a read!
