I’d easily say this is a good read but wouldn’t count it among my best, nor would it be the type of story that would stick to you for a long time.

I felt like there simply wasn’t enough romance throughout the whole story after what both leads went through, and I'm not sure what happened with the ending after ML decided to give up to the "temptation" of his desires, doesn't that mean he should leave the secular lifestyle?

Cried a few times reading throughout. The author writes very complex yet likeable characters, a well deserved HE for both.

There were a lot of timeskips I wish the author gave more background to, the entire novel was the mc yearning for her freedom. Also wish there were sidestories, mc and ml went through so much i just wanted to see them being happy more, maybe other jiaorens could’ve showed up, ml was really the only jiaoren throughout the entire novel. <<less

World building was done very well. If there is anything to dislike about this novel, the mystery behind the abyss monsters weren’t explored that well. It somehow interested me more than the romance.... more>>

Two years ago, I kept hearing this novel around everywhere but I wasn’t really a fan of BL. I finally ran out of enough novels to read so I decided to start on this one.

In terms of enjoyment, it certainly is not the best novel I’ve read–it was extremely frustrating having to read multiple chapters of flashbacks instead of the story focusing on the present time, but I stuck through this one.

If there was anything I disliked about this novel, it was the long flashbacks and a bunch of minor side characters. It was really frustrating that 15-20 chapters were dedicated to a single flashback. Side character names were also hard to recall because of how many there were.
