Actually, one of the things I don't like is that they don't explain where Huo Du's power comes from. He's powerful and that's it. There are spies even in my house, even tunnels in other people's houses, and it's not explained properly. I also don't understand why he left the empress alive for so long, after what she did to his sister.

Another thing that annoys me is Le Zhi. I liked her at first, but then I just wanted her to disappear. She doesn't know what she wants out of life. Huo Du is incredibly patient with her. She wants revenge, but she shows very little of her actually going after it. The only time she's shown her actually getting revenge is with the general. And another thing, Le Zhi kept saying that she was going to kill the emperor, but you don't see her planning it or explaining how she's going to do it, and yet she's sure that she can kill the emperor. And with all this happening, she still tries to ignore her feelings for Huo Du. I say trying because how can you say that you don't like someone and then keep letting them grab you and kiss you? So she runs away and keeps talking about how he's the son of the enemy and that she wants to kill his father, and so on. In the beginning, this is valid, but this thing continues until the end of the story. I couldn't stand her asking the same question all the time, and that's when she's already slept with him. Where does that make sense?

Anyway, there are only a few chapters left to finish the story, but I can't stand reading this anymore. I saw the ending through the spoilers in the comments.

-The male lead is almost omniscient, has secret passages in every house in the capital and knows what anyone is having for breakfast but doesn't do anything besides killing a few guys? I expected some more intrigue and elaborate scheming.

-Also this is the most wheelchair friendly story I've ever read in ancient setting. The ML literally pops in from anywhere in his JADE wheelchair. Inns, secret passages, enemy houses, hot springs and even buddhist temples on top of mountains, you name it. Full accessibility.

is unrealistic and a let down. These two leave an 8 yr old orphan as emperor and swan off to live a mediocre life and that too one in which ML is a doctor, chef, confectioner, maid, housekeeper, babysitter of the FL and the primary care of their kids. No seriously he’s doing all of that, whilst she cries, plays and stands at her shop sometimes. It’s maddening and s*upid to show these two who felt the responsibility of their births and their families situations, to behave like this and not actually be the Emperor and Empress and sort out their country.

MC somehow changed into a crybaby. She cried a lot for some different reasons and honestly, it became a bit irritating over time. Also, she kept playing a push and pull game towards ML until near the end. I somehow understand ML's feeling of wanting to just die rather than being tormented by her like that.

• The emperor and empress died just like that? The empress somehow could poison the emperor for a long time but with the emperor's shrewdness and empress's lousy scheme, how could he not aware of that?
• I understand that MC and ML wanted to live a free life away from political struggle but I still didn't like their decision to throw the throne to an 8 yo child. Come on, let the poor kid had a happy childhood a little longer.

So this novel is definitely a must for those who love strong female leads and cute psychopaths male leads.

The whole fantasy of the rich and high ranking choosing to live a slow common life.... f*cking s*upid as all hell, they are nobles, and they gonna live on their own? And do the whole shabang? You serious? Just washing clothes is impossible not to mention everything else? Esp if you say the ML is doing everything, on top of being a doctor, the one who makes all the snacks in their shop, develops new recipes, manages the house -which includes laundry, cleaning, dishes, making the meals- keeping up with personal hygiene and probably helping the FL with her own hair and she just, gets f*cked and does the selling sometimes? They who don't even wash their own hands let alone anything else? Even if you say the ML was pretty independent for a person of his position, do you think he ever even came close to a kitchen or the laundry room in his life? Do you think all these are possible for one person to do on the daily? Pre electricity? And then when they do have kids, FL stays in the house and takes care of them, but the ML is then the one to educate them? Does he know clone jutsu or smth? Does he have a freeze-the-time-everywhere-excpt-in-this-room ability? Then to mention the FL who was shown to be extremely concerned about her nephew just left him, a 9yo on his own.... in the palace.... without a parental figure in sight.... what cheep concern. Then to look at her other family, her brother was shown to be a f*ckboy, who forced a girl into marriage even tho he knew she had a love she was supposed to marry, just because he liked the look of her. She then gave birth to his son, and decided to leave the son after the tragedy, but not pursue some sort of happy end with her first love.... just pick a f*cking struggle, like she was done so dirty, so so dirty. FL's entire country was made to be some sort of holy place... that's not how things work at all like, why make just her home country so 1 dimensional.... Then to mention ML's mother, no wonder he resents her tbo, s*upidity and such welcome mat like qualities are the most despicable, like your weakness kills others over and over again yet still no spine grows in your body, it's just a mass of flabby flesh and organs dragging everyone down. Can't even pity her.
