Shen Yanming was a hardworking and talented but unlucky esports player in his previous life.

He was deceived into joining a second-rate team, narrowly missing the chance to win the World Championship trophy time and time again. Eventually, he encountered an accident that ended his professional career.

One day, he was reborn.

Since it’s useless to work hard, Shen Yanming decided to let himself go and stop putting in effort.

He registered an ID called “I’m Messing Around Again” and opened a livestream channel for random play. His fans thought he was just a comedian with no skills.

Until one day, he encountered a professional player’s alternate account, and the fans were ready to watch clueless Shen Yanming get beaten. However, by a stroke of luck, Shen Yanming unexpectedly turned the tables and defeated the opponent.

Shen Yanming was asked by his fans about his most admired professional player.

Shen Yanming: It’s Kong Shen. My greatest wish is to be nursed by Kong Shen.

Fans: Well, you don’t have a chance in this lifetime. Everyone knows that Kong Shen rarely heals anyone besides his regular teammates. Even in solo games, he switches to a DPS role.

Just as they were talking, the legendary and aloof Kong Shen entered the livestream, showering Shen Yanming with generous donations and leaving a message: Join my team, I’ll be your exclusive healer.

Shen Yanming & Fans: …

Later, Shen Yanming discovered that one by one, his previously unattainable dreams were coming true. He became the most popular rookie king and won championship trophies effortlessly.

…And he was even kissed by his Kong Shen until his legs turned weak.

1v1, male-male pairing, double rebirth, sweet romance. The Number One Healer in the Chinese Server, Gong × The King of tr*sh Talk Assassin Shou.

The Shou is always messing around, flirting every day, while the Gong is serious, getting teased until he loses his temper.

The game is completely fictional, and not playing the game won’t affect understanding the story.

Light-hearted love story with an eSports backdrop. If you're into the eSports element, I don't recommend this novel. The eSports serves mainly as a motivation and background for the two leads rather than a proper eSports novel.

It's a pretty cute love story. The beginning focuses more on the eSports and then more on the relationship. Double rebirth where ML is trying to get MC early into his flagging team to secure the championship. However, MC has some trauma from his first life and is pretty avoidant of becoming a pro.... more>> Along the way, they become special to each other.

The relationship is very cute. Despite both being reborn, when they fall in love it gives off a bubbling feeling of first love. They don't initially identify as gay and both have a coming to terms moment. It's pretty simple but I liked that it was there.

MC is more bubbly Vs ML being reticent but in the relationship they're both very cozy to each other. ML will straight up say he's jealous and ask for comfort.

My favourite characters are MC's parents who don't appear too much but are so fantastic. They're just so supportive in the aunty/uncle way of MC even if it's not the path they chose for him.

Otherwise, the novel feels a bit short in that the eSports really takes a backdrop.

Spoiler

the climactic championship fight is literally not described and is in the form of a forum post discussion.

[collapse]

Don't expect too much depth and the ending/fanwais were more light-hearted stuff. The final fanwai is kind of out of nowhere too.

Four stars for a simple cute novel that doesn't demand or give too much. <<less

Giving this a 3.8 almost 4 out of 5...

It's a cute novel but the ending was too abrupt. A pretty light read, no angst and although some problem arise MC and ML was able to resolve it within a chapter or two. I thought the championship would take a few chapters to finish but it was described in a few paragraphs.

As for the side characters, they have color of their own. I loved the interaction in their team specially with Pudding and Nightmare (almost thought they're gonna be the 2nd... more>> couple). It was also new to me to read an e-Sports novel where one of the teammates is a foreigner like Sunday. <<less

I got impatient and mtled the whole thing and let me tell you... I was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time. ML and MC are so sweet together. Their relationship was so yummy delicious. I really like how the MC was super flirty, it really added a comedic tone to the novel that I absolutely love. This novel really caught my attention that I ended up finishing it in 3-4 days. My heart dropped when I saw [end of text]. Overall, this novel is a great short read... more>> and you won’t regret reading it! 10/10 from me! <<less

another gem of a novel with rebirth// esports//2nd chance

A big yess to another review: Communication here is beautiful, honestly, and it's also a super funny, sweet and very good-feel read. 👏 10/10, recommend.

yes to a very green flag ML. A good chance for MC and ML to thorougly know each other and have a deeper relationship!! MC is outgoing and cheerful BUT despite that we do know he suffered hardship on hist 1st life that gives mhi some troubles on his 2nd life (our lil bun suffered some ptsd). It... more>> was nice that ML is there to support MC and give MC the push to move forward. An yeah truth that esports touch and more on the romance. Well they are already awesome players on their 1st life, I think it was okay on the rundown about their journey to championship. What I like on the novel is yeah they got their dreams and more importantly they finally got together with people they trust /team they deserved.

MC faced his dreams together with ml&team, ML also got his deserved team atmosphere and his sunshine, some tear jerking moment on the novel. Gosh, heyyy try try and try for that dream of yours!! <<less

Cute little lovestory with e-sport backdrop.

The emphasis lies on the love story. The e-sport is just the medium to transport it and you won't read overly detailed or technical explanation about the fights. Most fights are skipped.

The story starts when MC is already reborn for some time. Instead of using his skills and knowledge to start his journey in e- spoerts again, he is idling about. Not wanting to embark on this way again.

ML is also reborn. He is well aware that his team will decline to unexpected happenings.... more>> So he wants to preemptively get new team mates that can cushion the fall. Remembering that little guy, that went to another team and never was able to unfold his true potential...

So the story at the beginning addresses in deed a side of rebirth that you won't read often about. Further in, they heal each other. From idiolizing to becoming friends to being more.

I like that there is a real progress and that both are harmonizing with each other. The mood is just nice, ML is "spicy" but not coquettish.

The story just gave me a nice feeling and was entertaining. No masterpiece but I would recommend to read it. <<less

One of my favorite types of light e-sport stories

it has suspense but it's like no suspense. I really like stories like inj, with the full conflict that always completes an esport story, full of drama, but the slap in the face is resolved in a short and fun way

it's good to know that the concept of double rebirth here is a strong background. They gathered quite quickly though not in a hurry.

... more>> and I liked how our MC's shameless character met our calm ML. They're really cute together.

60% romance and 40% esport. The reason why I like this story so much. The matches and the concept of esports are told in a pretty concept, so it's not too heavy and tiring.

very worth to enjoy 🫶 <<less

This is one of the few esports novels that actually does the esports plot justice. The game itself seems like a mix of a lot of games (never seen it before) but the game is easy to understand. The special event mechanics is also pretty interesting and makes for some of the more fun strategies.

What really sealed the deal for me is the author’s writing style and it really enhances the ML.
Spoiler

Initially, I thought ML was really weird and my guess was he had been ab*sed as a child to develop his low empathy and poor social skills. And it’s only when MC moved into the gaming house that I realised ML might just be high functioning autistic (very regular schedule, special interests, extremely high IQ, non-existent understanding of social cues) And come to find out ML was ab*sed?

[collapse]
It was fun to understand the ML from the POV of MC.

The part about the hairdresser was really unnecessary though imo. (Think it was chapter 40?) MC and Pudding get their hair dyed at the salon and their hair had been washed so they had it wrapped up on their head in white towels. And this made them look like fair-skinned indians wearing turbans (the towels) ?? I was so shocked I went to check the raws and the translator didn’t make things up, though the translation was rather poorly done in this part so I missed the explanation about the turbans and just thought the author was being racist for no reason. Not that there is any reason to add this plot point but still. Really not sure what was the thought process.

Enjoyable e-sports novel.

First part / pre-romance was really engrossing. Different premise with two people time-traveling. Later on, it did get a bit slower, but still not bad. The misunderstandings don't drag. Overall very wholesome.

Not as good as some of the other ones, but if you're looking for fluffy with not too much angst and good balance, as well as great supporting cast, nice read overall.

Spoiler

Only things is that the bad guys kinda jump up and screw themselves over very easily, but that's also good, would have been worse to drag that on.

[collapse]

Translator made a good effort especially with the e-sports terms.

Spoiler

Game is made up, but heavily based on League of Legends. Not too hard to understand the competition. Really nice to have solo queue/duo queue translated properly. As well as other terms, so thank you.

4.3 actually it can became 4.5 or more.. But the pace is bit rushed at the end.. Idk maybe it the same problem with e-sport setting BL story, they take off with some potential, fly with spice but lending in rushed and quick way, the good poin is MC really did had way of 21 years old thinking, and ofc ML too, their interaction is sweet maybe a bit cringe lmao.. But ut touch ur heart, the contrast between their background and the real life concern like parents, although... more>> the ML's parents part is a bit unsatisfied for me (feel like just ''oh it already happen so be it'' and without continuation) the story is absolutely just between ML and MC and the shadow of side CP is blurred, still this novel is more than 4.0 so just give it a try <<less

➺ 3.5/5 🌟

This is an eSports danmei but the eSports itself is more of a backdrop setting and not the actual focus of the story. It's just there to be the driving force of the plot but this is more about the MC and ML's life and relationship. It's sweet and adorable and not too much drama. This has an element of rebirth and there's also a little revenge going on but definitely not an active revenge. The retaliation from the MC is usually not done proactively unless provoked.

The matches... more>> were mostly not detailed and the whole competition was not very elaborate. This is an average eSports danmei. Fun read but nothing new. This novel is not very long and it's not dragging so it's still worth the read if you just want a lighthearted novel to read. <<less

This novel is very cute and a very smooth read.

I confess I simply skipped all the parts that were narratives about the games or similar topics; I only read the parts I found more relevant since I'm not very interested in that.

And honestly, the dynamic between the MC and ML is very good.

I just wish the ML had had a more human, more natural reaction in the last chapters regarding his discovery about a family matter, and less like a cold and distant ML who easily overcomes any emotional turmoil.

It's fluffy and simple, the story might be a 3 star for me but the translation was great so it elevated the reading experience.

The time travel doesn't really affect the plot, there isn't enough e-sports drama, it's mainly in the background, it focus on the budding relationship of 2 straight male.

Identity crisis, family drama and blatant flirtyness.

The characters were cute but not memorable, there weren't enough scenes that made me want to reread this. This is for a casual reader who wants something fast and easy.

This novel is relatively short so you can finished in a day or 2. The game system is really simple and doesn't need explanation and you won't get to see much mechanics being explained. There's no rival teams but just some dirty players from their previous life that gets face slaps.

The highlight of the novel is definitely MC's big mouth. You can't believe he actually G.. When he spew out all these straight man stuffs that's just so yellow. He does it without even blinking. MC has a great family... more>> I am so jealous his parents is both fun and so supportive of everything about him.

ML is a piece of wood but wants to get along of everybody, cold on the outside but warm on the inside. Typical good looking and good at the game. Tr*sh mother hate her so much.

Towards the end I think the author just gave up and we got speed up without warning it like Boom we won the world championship.

Esports fans should avoid this novel maybe, it's not your cup of tea. I like it mainly the MC says alot of funny things and make it comical and hilarious in alot of situations. He beats you in the game and also beats you verbally hehe <<less

personal enjoyment: 4.25/ 5

A cute e-sports story with no angst - it was a steady progression of the MC and ML's romance. Just because the MC is reborn doesn't mean he's super OP or is hell-bent on revenge like other stories. He gets back at them but it's more of a side plot. Side characters are memorable and the relationship dynamics are sweet. Really like the MC's parents - they're funny and supportive of their son in his career and sexuality.

Rating: 4.5/5

A short and sweet e-sports love story.

Spoiler

This is a double rebirth story. In his past life, MC was a professional e-sports player. However, he got caught up in a scandal, was betrayed by his team, and died in a car accident. As for ML, his case is more like a transmigration back in time because he didn't actually die. He is also a professional e-sports player and MC'S idolized male God.

At the start of the story, MC decided to evade professional e-sports. Although he occasionally livestreamed the game, he planned to quit and "focus" on school in the future. On the otherhand, ML, armed with knowledge about the future, set out to address the future problems that would cause his team's downfall. Because he knew MC's potential, he also sought to recruit him. He created a new account and interacted with the MC. During their time online, ML tried to recruit MC multiple times--offers that MC always turned down.

One day, MC was gifted a ticket to ML's game, and the two agreed to meet up. Because MC did not know the true identity behind his online friend (he didn't believe it was ML), there was a slight misunderstanding.

Eventually, MC and ML meet IRL and they share their "rebirth" secret with each other. The relationship between the two deepened and MC agreed to join ML's team. From there, it's just e-sports with a side of romance (+getting revenge on those who hurt MC in the past). You do not need to understand the game to enjoy the story; you can skip out on the game descriptions and not miss out on the plot.

The side characters were interesting as well. The relevant side characters (Pudding, Ming Yan, and Sunday) had enough depth and personality to come alive. There is NO SIDE CP.

The ending was well-written; MC and ML share a moment together and MC reflected on his past self. However, there were loose ends to the story that caused me to take points off.

  1. The antagonists were slightly disappointing. They are your typical "low-IQ" villains. Their endings were also brushed past, even though they caused a significant impact on MC in his past life.
    1. I am especially confused with the "gay back-stabbing friend." The description of him in MC's past life and the one in the current life are vastly different. Before we actually meet the character, he was described as the "shy friend who turned depressed due to an abusive relationship." The one we actually meet is an obnoxious, jealous, and arrogant person. I am starting to think that I read things wrong due to the vast differences.
  2. ML's conflict with his family. I believe it could have been written better rather than having his mom vanish into thin air after he dissed her off. Also, I had hoped that there were more interactions between ML and his father. His father is not a "bad guy" depending on how you view the situation. The dad is actually gay, but the mom forced him to be in a relationship with her. Then came your typical "I am carrying your baby" scheme and the dad was pressured into fulfilling his paternal duties. When he found out that ML is not his biological son, he divorced the woman and left (ML never knew the truth about this until MC revealed it to him). That being said, the dad still kept in touch with ML as his secret pen pal.

If you prefer to focus more on the romance and do not care about these details, then the story will still be an enjoyable read for you.

The first arc of the novel was well executed and it was so riveting I didn’t take a break. The second arc was so-so, not much enjoyable for me and seemed too verbose. The ending was quite pleasant.

Extra Four was too peculiar.

The main selling point of this story is the people. The good guys are all so nice and I want to spend more time with them.

It’s not so much tr*sh talking king as it is shameless flirting king—MC shou likes speaking a lot of flirtatious nonsense and rambling about random things. He’s charismatic, sociable, and all-around fun person to be around.

Although there isn’t that game winning and face slapping satisfaction of some other novels I’ve read, simply because it does not delve deeply into the created game, mechanics and strategy; does not have that growth of gameplay to finally reach the top—it feels like the game was there just to create typical esports scenarios and... more>> it predominantly driven by the romantic plot, which I like, so I enjoyed.

There isn’t a clear why the leads transitioned to love but it felt natural and it was really cute. It was straightforward without overly prolonging it, and the rebirth revelation & confession scenes were funny and very adorable. Some character growth was also good—how MC managed to overcome his block early on, and ML with his family. But it wasn’t particularly built upon, kind of touch and go feels to it, which is the vibe of most of the novel.

Generally lighthearted, easy to read, no angst. Fun and funny bits all around with great (underutilized?) fleshed out side characters. Could have been twice the length and delved more into each issue and stage.

Almost almost favourite, because I like the two leads’ type of character—straight shooting, principled, strong types. <<less

I loved how progressive and open minded mc's parents were, and they encouraged him to pursue his passion in esports. The MC and ML are reincarnated, with the MC having faced cyberbullying and eventually dying in a car accident. His experiences in his past life left him reluctant to pursue the same path as he did previously, but despite his best efforts, he couldn't give up on his dream of esports. Personally, I felt that the plot was rather bland, there weren't really any stand out moments for me, but... more>> overall it was still an okay read. However, I did appreciate how the reincarnation allowed the MC to make up for his regrets in the past life, and avoid making the same mistakes and trusting in the wrong friends. I felt that the ML didn't have much of a distinctive personality, he was just the typical cold male lead. Despite the mid plot, it was still an enjoyable read due to the great translations <<less
