Lin Tantan was a die-hard fan of Ye Xiao, the most powerful person in the apocalypse. After her death, she went to the beginning of the apocalypse more than three hundred years ago. Her first wish was to protect Ye Xiao and his team, who were still relatively weak at this time, so that he would not go back to the original path of his teammates dying, and finally blowing himself up among the zombies.

Of course, to love someone is to love his CP together. Her second wish is to focus on protecting Ye Xiao’s vice-captain, so that these two lovers can open their hearts to each other bravely, and spend a happy life together. No more regrets.

Ye Xiao found that whenever he talked to Old Bai, that very powerful but also a little weird little girl always looked at them and smiled like an aunt. So, what was she laughing at?

After a long time, Ye Xiao blocked the little girl in a corner, kissed her forehead, and successfully saw the little girl instantly turned into a screaming chicken, and laughed in a low voice: “Who told you that Old Bai and I are a couple?”

Lin Tantan: “!!!”

What should I do if I want to fall in love with my idol?

Base-building zombie apocalyptic romance.

It's a decent story with a strong start and good finish but I felt there were some mid-late novel plots that bogged it down.

I don't really like zombie novels but this was done decent. It has all the usual tropes - powers, zombie nuclei to level up, hoardes, base-building and military politics that these kind of novels have but most aspects were done adequately. There isn't anything new but it isn't done badly.

Character wise, Tantan's a fun main character mostly. She's a bit s*upid sometimes but more... more>> in a cute way and isn't s*upid when it comes to more serious stuff. She's OP but I never felt too distracted or annoyed because the story balances it out in ways to make her feel more human. I like that her more selfless acts stem from her own selfish desires rather than just purely being a holy mother. She can be cold too and I do have mixed feelings about

Spoiler

the 'original' Tantan, admittedly I skimmed that whole arc but although she wasn't the best person, not sure I enjoyed the novel's take on her

[collapse]

Ye Xiao is alright. He's righteous and a good guy but measured and protects his own over others. He's not a bad male lead but becomes more defined by his love for Tantan later on.

Other side characters don't really get much development. I thought Ye Xiao's original squad would get more developed but after the base gets set up they kind of fade into the background. Would have liked more team dynamics but although I think they all trust and care for each other, Ye Xiao and Tantan are more emotionally dependent on each other.

The romance is pretty cute, the whole CP things interferes but is only kind of annoying and resolves in a timely manner. I'd consider them to be each others support beams, they would rather die than let anything happen to the either of them. Ye Xiao can be kind of overprotective but Tantan stands up for herself when necessary and he respects that.

Story wise I enjoyed the until maybe the 3/4 point where I started skimming until the extras (which are necessary to tie up the story btw). The story direction shifts and while the arc actually explains things like why Tantan transmigrated after her death I just didn't enjoy reading it much. I'm not sure I enjoyed the more supernatural (like non-zombie supernatural) aspects introduced.

One other thing- the slight misogyny. There's like a line where Ye Xiao is marveling at how op Tantan is and says if she wasn't disinterested in power or a girl, the brigade wouldn't be able to keep her. I read that in the original Chinese too to double check. Tantan is also really the only interesting or powerful female character in the entire novel and Ye Xiao's occasional machismo doesn't help. This isn't a deal-breaker and the rest of the novel was fine but just kind of a something I noticed. It's a decent novel and bonus if you're a fan of zombie novels, story gets a bit draggy but ties up well.

Edit: I went to find the source of that comment if you wanna judge yourself

Spoiler

他忽然又想起和白澄说过的话,如果谈谈不是个女孩子,或许不耽于轻松享受的生活,但凡有点野心,一个正阳大队根本留不住她。

He remembered what he told Bai Cheng, if Tantan were not a girl or inclined to a relaxing, enjoyable life, as long as she as she had any wild ambition, Zheng Yang brigade would be unable to keep her.

Warning : This review contains spoilers!!

At first it really is interesting, but slowly you can see that FL is too dumb that I cant help but wanna drop this novel.

Spoiler

ML clearly says he likes FL, but she insists that ML likes that Bai Bai. Also FL clearly say wanna protect ML but look, isn't that the opposite? FL has no action at all, just following the flow and have no effort.

At first it is dumb but seems cute, but if it too often isn't it makes it look more dumber but annoying to see right? Can't stand it so much!!

Also I think author forget some quite important character here. Like the one who almost kill ML comrade at the early chapter and that someone who also transmigrate like FL, dang... Author forgot about them duuhhh, she/he can put more plot for them and add more spice but no no no no, nothing.. they're like passager who so not important.

I really wanna drop this novel but I have no other novel to read so I will force myself to continue. Will be back and rewrite my review but dk when. Don't really like this novel and maybe will keep get distracted with other things..

[collapse]

Edit : Finally done but can't believe that I need 5 days to finish this novel lol. You can say this novel not good but also not bad, just so so and dont use your brain of logic while reading it. The review below will be the newest one but the review above will not be deleted cuz that still true..

So many flaw but also some good things there. I will list the bad one first :

  • First the author just forget the feeling of assistant of the FL, I forget his name. After FL say she wanna be his gf, tho FL dont know his feeling but we know as we read the inner thought of the assistant. After that buuumm, the assistant suddenly just accept FL being with ML and forget everything and became normal again. I mean that is super weird. And also I dont like how FL is thinking going to use him so ML will forget her. That so ugly even when "if" the assistant dont like her..
  • That Xie who also teleport to 300 years, he is the biggest flaw I thought. He will confused you. At the early chapter author show how he is so flustered that he suddenly transport back, his inner thought also show it and so we can assume he really some ordinary person who transport with FL. He so flustered that he choose to side with the villains and then when meet FL who same from the future as him he follow her. But suddenly at the end of chapter (not really the end) he became the teacher of FL. So the soul that in the body is not an ordinary person, then why author show that inner thought that he so flustered???? That not necessary at all, its better to only show his action. Wanna confused us the reader? But it only show how you are so amateur in this kind of novel genre.
  • The ML so smooth become so strong and when he going to break through the highest level, it is so very smooth that almost like impossible. The author really so amateur in this kind of supranatural genre.
  • FL too lazy, have no action at all even when she in animals body, she only "oh, I leave everything to ML for solutions". Yoooo, even when she in animals body I think it is still necessary for her to discuss it with ML and show how she really wanna go back to her own body.
  • Also I dont really like the kind where 2 soul in 1 body. I mean it also not fair for the original Lin Tantan who her body is occupied by FL. Although she originally is dead but still who could stand to see her body being used by other and FL life a good life while the soul of original body trapped and only watch FL life. However good and kind you are, you can't stand it so it is really reasonable that the original Lin Tantan will go mad. It will be much better if author didnt put it like this and just make FL and the body is not compatible, that much better.
The good part is :

  • ML is still so loyal with FL tho she is in animals body, it's not just a moment but takes years until FL go back to her original body. His patience with FL is so good..
  • Although FL lazy in everything, but when Zombie gone rampage she is really a big help.
  • Dont worry in the end FL will told ML the truth she's from the different world before ML know.
  • Also where the part they showed ML how FL life before is so heartbreaking, he also see her funeral, duuhh who wouldn't be sad?
  • The interaction between ML and FL also cute, moreover when ML think FL is Fujoshi who like to match him with other MALE lmao.
  • And it is a happy ending so don't worry.
Overall is 3/5 for the novel, I will not rate the translation cuz I know people wanna know the novel quality more. Maybe it's worth for people who never touch this kind of novel, Apocalypse with supernatural being. But it is really not worth for people who use to read this kind of novel. <<less

I can see why a 2 chapter translation has 2 5 stars already. The start has a very good setup. It’s heartwarming and saddening. It’s worth a read just from those 2 chapters.

No rating yet, time for me to mtl. Adding the zombies tag since it’s a zombie apocalypse novel. I have such hard time finding zombie apocalypse novels since people forget to add zombies to the tag on most novels. I will edit this review once I finish mtl - can’t wait personality.

On translation, it’s good so I will... more>> be back to read properly translated story. <<less

Sadly not recommended to read.

Novel is about a brainless overpowered pampered healer female MC who goes back to the past.

She has all 5 elemental type powers and decides to rush to save her idol ML and his (MC fantasizes) homos*xual lover.

... more>> MC meets Ml, proceeds to save Ml's friend with her future knowledge, and then does nothing else with her future knowledge.

She becomes a clueless naive healer except with OP defensive skills and hides her 5 ability powers, while ML falls in love with MC but is a naive loser who can't confess.

This continues for most of the novel, and then author ruins the story by adding the evil Zhou brothers, Zhou Li fodder and Zhou Yan antagonist fodder. Now most of the story is a suspense about what evil scheming Zhou Yan will do, except that the reader could care less. The author even directly states that Zhou Yan doesn't die when his head is half cut off because they didn't want Zhou Yan to die and to promote the plot. MC never uses her future knowledge elsewhere and ML is forever a jealous loser.

Novel falls apart into a mediocre romance novel with annoying misunderstandings and pointless fodder Zhou Yan stealing screen time. Garbage -900Hextillion/10. <<less

It makes people mind really tired!

The female lead... you can say that she is s*upid, too s*upid, folish, dumb. Just because she read in novels that the male lead and his brother in arm are couple she believed this firmly and she won't take any other answer! Like they must be together no matter what, even though she can see with her naked eyes that they are not like that, she won't take it and would keep fantasy about them and push them to each other and still firmly believe... more>> that they are a couple and they are in love, no, they must to be in love!

This is disgusting in some sence.

You just imagen that someone came and keeps trying to push you to a gay relationship with your best friend or with your cowarker, how would you feel?

It's annoying to keep reading this.

Plus, when the male lead discover that she like him but kept liying that she isn't (of course it's because she firmly think that he belong to Bai Cheng and she feels sorry as usaul that they didn't develop their relationship tell now, maybe because of her. Which for now the male lead desn't know) He get in act that he sacrfice himself for her to let her feel sorry for him, and his friends even helped him with this act, lying to her, this is another no no for me.

All in all, this relationship line and loves line is so missup, this novel become miss more and more. <<less

Maybe around a 3.5 stars.

It has it's moments, but also got a bit dry at other moments.

As someone who has seen C-ent and it's penchant for CP vs solo fans, it was kind of amusing to see the "rotten girl" image in the novel and how every absurd "candy/sugar" can be defined as CP evidence.

The FL is OP from the very beginning. However, because of her sickly past before she died in her original life, she's still pretty much an easy going homebody. She's scary when she chooses to fight,... more>> but for the most part, just takes enjoyment in being outdoors with her comradery of strange mutant animals.

It is a bit disturbing that to cure zombie infected people or animals that she has to self-mutilate herself. But the fact that she doesn't make a big deal about her missing arm, hand or fingers is a bit heart breaking.

For the most part, about the first 3/4 novels is interesting as the fight zombies and build a new base. But the plot kind of petered out once they moved to a new base and brought in the whole original body soul vs new soul, and the whole misguided monks. From then on until the end, it went kind of sideways from the original enjoyment of the plot.

Overall, it's still an interesting read and a bit different from other similar zombie Do-Over storylines. <<less

It's not bad. I MTL the rest but idk if it is done like that or it is still on going.

*Spoiler alert*

In my opinion, the conflict (Lin Tan Tan's body's owner appearance) kinda makes it over complicated. Like not really on the situation itself but the aftermath of it.

Spoiler
  • Announcing LTT just left for somewhere despite having people witness her being killed? Or died.
  • The replacement body for LTT being much more younger than the body she originally possess. It doesn't make sense, especially since almost 5? Or 4 years have passed when they announced she left.

Anyways, I feel like it's cut on the ending. I don't think it done yet.

This novel is not bad, but it does get a bit boring after it reaches the mid-point. It’s a novel with lots of plot holes and a Mary Sue MC, so I didn’t expect much in the first place, but I still enjoyed checking it out! The premise of the novel is that the FL (Lin Tantan), who comes from a futuristic society after an apocalypse, travels back in time right when the apocalypse was just beginning. She knows quite a lot about the trajectory of history from here because... more>> she’s a big fan of Ye Xiao (ML), who is considered the hero of those times. As his biggest fan, she goes looking for him and the adventure starts from there.

The FL is your typical, virg*n Mary, ditzy type. Manic pixie dream girl LOLOL. She brings light to the ML’s life and is super powerful. I didn’t mind it so much cause it made for some pretty amusing moments, but you might based on your preferences! As for the plot holes, it all comes down to the worldbuilding not being straight enough. But well, the detailed writing does make up for it, so even if some things don’t make sense, I can ignore it by focusin on other things LOLOL.

Altogether, while it might not be the best novel I’ve read, as a fan of Apocalyptic CN novels, I couldn’t resist giving it a shot! The MTL is not bad (70% readable), so I read for quite a while. Stopped because I got bored, as mentioned, but my overall view is positive. As for my final rating... I think this deserves a 3.1/5 stars! <<less

I really enjoyed reading this, especially the first few chapters. It was a fun read, but I used machine translation for the rest of the chapters, which made some aspects of the plot feel tiring. I gave it 3.5 stars.

The MC is just too good—like, she's so kind it caught me off guard. Her character stands out effortlessly, and her presence practically screams, "Yes, I am the FL and the OP MC." It's hilarious, but it totally works. The moment she helped a member of the ML's team? Unexpected and... more>> lowkey blew my mind. I mean, sure, the setup hinted at it, but I was still in awe. Her fangirling? I was cackling. Though I'm not sure if her fangirling continues in the later parts. It's honestly so fun writing this review while still reading the MTL version. Also, shoutout to the ML's team—they're an impressive bunch. Even without superpowers, every one of them is skilled and capable. They really leave a mark. <<less

I read this when it first popped up here but saw it again being recently updated and I didn't realize the reviews were so negative and everyone is saying the MC is a ditzy airhead girl. So I went back to re-MTL it again just to refresh my memory before giving my own review. I can see why most of the reviews say it is just ok because yes, the plot twists at the end is also annoying IMO but I also want to clear up one particular review that... more>> I just think is full of misunderstandings probably due to language barriers? Idk.

Spoiler
    1. Regarding the question about the assistant of the FL when MC asked him to be her pretend bf: the assistant is Mingze and this happened after MC realized ML was seriously in love with her. She was confused about her feelings but shocked because she really believed ML and Bai Cheng were supposed to be together and she broke up a couple. So she felt guilty thinking that ML only liked her because she was a girl who he was deeply indebted with after saving Mei Mei and mistook gratefulness and indebtedness as feelings of love. (I'll explain more in spoilers about this whole situation as well cause it's a bit complicated). Anyways she, just on a whim, saw that Mingze seemed to be the typical nice boy type and that usually a girl like her (who looks like the soft and easy type) would like so she blurted out if he wanted to be her bf so she can trick ML to giving up on her because Mingze seemed more believable than anyone else around her. Of course, Mingze was shocked and confused but MC immediately said she was just kidding and never mentioned it again cause after she said that, she already knew ML wasn't going to buy it anyways and she shouldn't do this kind of thing. I think this was meant to serve the next plot point because her "confession" was heard by a group of mercenaries who were trying to kidnap her. They thought ML was in love with Mingze so they kidnapped him in order to lure out MC. Later, ML used this as a "honey trap" to get MC to realize her feelings for him.
    1. The Xie who was teleported 300 years ago is probably Xu Tianjin. He was one of MC's most difficult patients but she managed to cure him so he has always been her fan. After MC died in her original world, Xu Tianjin attended her memorial service and cried so hard that he fainted and came to the parallel world with MC, also awakening in another person's body with the same name as his. Yes, he seems to be an ordinary person because after MC first cured him, he lost his gold powers and just became ordinary so the body he now has is also ordinary. He becomes more of a "person from the same hometown" as MC and serves more as a way for MC to talk about her previous life. Now, regarding him turning into MC's teacher, I do agree this is a bit weird. It turns out when Xu Tianjin was first "reborn", it was actually a person who pretended to be the future Xu Tianjin (which is most likely MC's teacher). He pretends all throughout the novel and only revealed himself towards the end at the final plot point in order to give ML a direction on how to save MC. Then he disappears from Xu Tianjin and the real Xu Tianjin comes back but he is not reborn but is literally just the actual Xu Tianjin who thought the apocalypse just broke out a month ago so he has no memory of the past few years. Honestly, I don't think this was a smart move. It would have made more sense if the teacher just used Xu Tianjin to talk to ML instead of completely taking over a body and then leaving it saying actually he never died or got reborn in the first place teehee.
    1. ML takes several years to hit max level. Overall, it took him 7-8 years from the start of the apocalypse from level 1 to 10. It took him about 2 years to be level 5-6 and then the rest to move up another 4-5 levels. I think it felt fast because the majority of the novel is just those 2 years and then only at the end, there are just about 15 chapters that squeezed in 5-6 years of him leveling up. The author doesn't go through the hardships like they did in the beginning because they're just trying to wrap up the story. Honestly, if the author had wanted to take more time and do a whole other arc of ML and his team leveling up then I think they could have. But obviously, the author thought of MC's final plot point as being the climax of the story and wanted to end it there so they just rushed the level up scenes. Cause this seems to be more of a romance than an action novel so if there's no MC to go with ML then it wouldn't really make sense for MC to be the main character.
    1. I don't think the FL is too lazy. Like I said, her final crisis is the last plot point the author wanted from the novel and it focused more on ML's thinking than MC. The whole novel was about MC up until this point and now we're seeing a bit of ML and how his feelings are. When you focus more on one character then ofc other characters start to take the backseat. Plus, MC is literally in animal form. Some animals don't even have any attack power and it did state that MC did possess other stronger animals in order to fight alongside ML occasionally. But at this point, everything is going too fast so there is barely any interaction/discussions between the 2 leads as the story just wants to wrap up.
    1. The author wanted to write a story where the main twist is two souls occupying one body. The original Lin Tan Tan is a very selfish person who has a lot of hate because her family doesn't care for her and only focuses on her brother. Her family is also very selfish and she, as a result, also became twisted and selfish. Then, the MC Lin Tan Tan takes over her body after the original already died and didn't realize the original is still there because there was no response from her. Our MC then starts to live a good life due to her own choices and actions. Because MC is a good person, then the people around her care about her and treat her well. Original Lin Tan Tan sees this and because very jealous thinking that if it wasn't for MC taking her body then she would be in the same shoes but that's not true. The original LTT doesn't have any superpowers so if MC didn't take over her body, even if original LTT survived then she would never had done anything MC did, thus, never getting what MC got. I don't agree that you should expect MC to give up what MC had due to her own efforts to the original LTT but I do agree that original LTT can be upset with another person using their body. But original LTT was more than upset, she was greedy and wanted to take over everything MC had and I think that is stealing. If MC didn't take over original LTT's body then it would just eventually decay and her soul dissipate. So I think, ever since original LTT failed to awaken and died then that should have been it. But the author threw this curve ball at us and I also don't like it. A majority of the reviewers don't think it fits with the story and I also agree. But it seems the author had this plan from the very beginning since it was hinted at.
[collapse]

And then there's another reviewer that I just can't let them continue to put out false information. This person said they finished reading the novel yet they only got to the part about Zhou Yan. Zhou Yan went offline in chapter 76. You can look it up yourself. When Zhou Yan didn't die the first time, the author literally said they needed Zhou Yan to usher in a few new characters for the next plot point and then he'll die. The author said he won't be around for long. So they didn't even get to the point when Zhou Yan truly dies and had about 100 more chapters to read (a little more than half the novel) yet said they finished it lol. I dislike this person so much. Just go to their review history and see the last several reviews they posted. It's literally all 1 star reviews mainly about female MC CN novels. This person just hates female MCs for some reason and I really think they don't even read the whole novels but just want to bring down ratings on these novels for no good reason. Thank god they stopped reviewing since 2023 and I hope they never come back, at least, stop trying to purposely give 1 star reviews just because you hate female leads. No one is forcing you to read them or pretending to read them.

Now, about my feelings on the MC, I think she is a very good girl. I don't think she is dumb or ditzy. Honestly, I think she is very smart and has suffered so much that she takes everything around her lightly. She was born with 5 superpowers and was the only person known to survive and not become mentally disable. Her superpowers are very pure and she is also very smart so she is coveted by a lot of people. But she's always going through life and death situations since her birth, barely surviving at times. So she's usually placed under intense control by the government, made to be used and act like a mascot to millions of people, and have no real freedom of her own. Her family is very kind to her and loves her very much and she loves them too. But she always knew that she was destined to die young and has accepted that at a very young age. Imagine being only 5-6 years old and knowing you're going to die before reaching adulthood. What kind of person will you be? She doesn't want to go out because going out meant mobilizing hundreds of elite soldiers just to protect her and it might even cause them to die if anything happened. So she just simply stops interacting with others except when she needs to heal patients. To her, she is just waiting to die. Honestly, I think the author did a great job explaining what kind of person MC is through all of these.

For the MC, the only thing that makes her perk up in life was Ye Xiao. To her, Ye Xiao was the only light in her short life so she poured a lot of emotions into thinking about him. He was her idol and the only thing that made her continue to strive to live. Ye Xiao's unfortunate life, struggles, and eventual death had a profound effect on MC because she probably was encouraged by him and sadden by how such a bright and talented person could be so easily lost in time. He, honestly, was MC's obsession and if you have even been obsessed about something then you can probably understand her feelings a little. Her obsession was so great that it gave her a chance to go back in time and get reborn.

Ye Xiao, our ML, is also another good guy. He's also black-bellied but not in the overbearing CEO sense. He has a sense of loyalty and justice that a lot of male characters tend to have in female lead novels. He's kind of a cookie-cutter mold, very attentive bf material, will peel nuts for you, wash your hands and face, clingy, etc. Kinda unrealistic in my opinion but whatever, that material sells. Although, this ML and MC couple cannot cook for the life of them which is pretty unusual given that usually the MLs will have some godly cooking skills (kinda refreshing tho lol). Anyways, he's the typical male lead that only loves the female and changes for the female. He does have his flaws as does the MC and he eventually schemes a bit to get her to admit her feelings (using the fall in love with your savior trap but accidentally causes him to be saved by MC instead of him saving her). He falls for the MC very early on in the novel. It's not in an unbelievable sense and you can see him gradually loving MC more and more. He tries his best for MC and overall, I think he is a very solid male character.

Their relationship is pretty sweet and loving. It's not the best I've seen but it's very good nonetheless. I would say, I agree with people saying the misunderstanding was a bit annoying. In the beginning, the MC truly believed ML and Bai Cheng loved each other in history so they're meant to be together and she shouldn't come between them as a true fan. At this time, MC has no love feelings as a woman to a man with ML. She purely loved him as a fan and is happy if he is happy. She and ML didn't know each other that well so I thought it was fine for her to think in her head that there was something between ML and Bai Cheng. She's not hurting anyone thinking like this since all she did was look at how they interacted and got happy inside herself. She didn't go up to ML and said to his face that he was meant to be with BC and then try to force them together or anything. But once ML started to fall for MC and then start to show his intentions, MC freaked out because she thought she did something wrong. The author did their best to explain why MC felt this way and I thought it was a believable explanation.

Spoiler

After MC transmigrated, things started to change slightly. The zombie rain started earlier then it did in history and mutated animals and plants appeared sooner. So she thought it might be a butterfly effect due to her making changes in the world. When the zombie tide came faster than it did previously, she felt very guilty thinking she is responsible for those people's deaths so she did her best to help save others. So when ML starts to express his feelings, she also felt very guilty for ML and BC because she thought she meddled in their relationships. She thought ML doesn't actually love her but was so grateful to her for helping save Mei Mei and helping him with other things that he mistook that gratefulness as love. Since MC believed it took several years before ML developed feelings for BC then she ruined it by inserting herself and causing ML to divert. It was only when she expressed her feelings, listened to ML's feelings, then start to try to accept ML. It didn't happen right away, but was a bit slow for MC to truly let go and accept that ML really did like her for who she was.

Even with the author's explanation, I did think the misunderstanding went on too long. I know MC is introverted and doesn't have a lot of experience with love but still, I think the author could have wrapped it up a bit sooner and save the readers some frustration.

Now, the super spoilers, some of the twists at the end that I just don't think were that great but the author really wanted to write them in.

Spoiler
    • The original Lin Tan Tan's soul was still alive in the body while MC was occupying it. When MC first took over the body, original LTT was already dead and her soul was about to disappear. Then MC said she'll finish one wish for original LTT if she wanted it. This caused the original LTT to not disappear and kept her soul alive until the wish was fulfilled. But there was no response after MC said this so MC thought she disappeared. Then after the base was established, all the characters were on the right path, most of the villains were dealt with, some Taoist priests randomly appeared and saw 2 souls in one body then determined that MC was an evil spirit who was stealing luck and going to destroy the world because history has changed.
The original LTT appears in front of MC, accuses her of stealing her body and achievements and wants to take her body back. They fight for a bit and eventually original LTT makes a wish to have her parents live well. It's not that original LTT loves her parents but she thought MC was unable to find her parents so MC will lose and she'll get her body back. However MC manages to accomplish this since the Taoist priests manages to find the parents and wanted to use them to deal with MC. Instead, they help MC win the contract and take over the soul. BUT!!!!!! Before original LTT can truly be taken offline, the senior Taoist priest preformed a ritual, sacrificed 700+ living people, and expelled MC's soul out of the body.
    • The s*upid Taoist priests are so annoying. Like, they are literally so s*upid. There are a few plot holes such as, if they were so wise and can see the future then why couldn't they predict the zombies to which the author kinda just brushed off. And then when ML tried to learn their skills in order to save MC, it was very vague what kinds of skills they can actually do and imo, were not so useful. They were the villains that popped up and went offline the quickest but they were the most annoying ones.
    • Surprise, MC's soul was expelled but it didn't die, it just went into a tree. This tree was born by a spiritual tree and replanted by MC. Her weak soul went there to recoup and with the help of her master, she eventually regained her memories. Then MC starts learning how to move her souls to different animals because the longer she stayed in one being, the weaker they start to become and will eventually die since they can't nourish her soul for too long. Thus, beginning her jobs of changing animal bodies over and over until MC finally brings her real body back.
    • The world the novel is set in is a parallel world from MC's original world. MC died in world A and her soul transmigrated to world B. So the Ye Xiao she is with is not he same Ye Xiao she was a fan of. That Ye Xiao truly died in her world and there is no way for her to go back and change that. The reader and MC won't start to think it's a parallel world until further into the novel. I honestly think this is a bit meh. I mean, it's a different concept but also pretty sad that she couldn't save the person she really wanted to save in the first place.
    • But!!!! Don't be too sad because at the very end, world A takes Ye Xiao's (from MC's original world) soul and brings it to world B in order to shake MC and ML's relationship. World A wants to take revenge on ML and take MC away but MC refuses to go with world A Ye Xiao and says she is happy with world B Ye Xiao. World A Ye Xiao is actually a very nice guy who is grateful to have a cute fan like MC and is happy for her. Then he leaves and is yelled at by world A but MC's teacher comes and takes Ye Xiao as his final disciple and they ride off into the sunset to travel through different worlds. I just, I just think it's a bit much. There's just too much info at this point and not a lot of story building.

Honestly, I think we can live without that many twists and turns. I think the author put a lot of little things into the story in the beginning but they were literally so small that you kinda have to really reach to get them. So it just makes it seem like the author tried to connect literally everything but it was too connected that it seemed forced. Especially since the ending was so rushed and all those twists were crammed into those few chapters. So I can see and understand the dissatisfaction from the readers about these. The story was great 3/4 of the way but the ending was executed too poorly in comparison. MC's past and current life was very straightforward and easy to understand so when we start to read so many complicated things then it becomes too confusing. I think if the author wanted a very complicated story then they should have done more in the beginning because we were already content with the way it was written but suddenly you wanted to throw us a curve ball?? It's not really genius, it's just a bit annoying.

But overall, the zombies, superpowers, history, characters, etc. Were all well written for the most part. The author understood the complexity of MC and ML and tried to showcase it. They explained a lot of things very well. As a zombie novel, this is very good. There are often times the author will write about very obscure characters who have no connection with any of the main characters just to build the world and I thought that was brilliant. I really liked to read about these 4th/5th parties and their little struggles among the big guys. For example, the author dedicated several paragraphs about a guy who never awakened any superpowers but became a little stronger. So he brought his elderly parents along with him to survive the apocalypse. Unfortunately, his father died along the way but he and his mother managed to make it to ML's base and become refugees. Then, with the help of the base, he managed to get a job and get his mother one too. Eventually, after working hard, he was promoted and they went from scavenging for food to living inside the base and living well. There was no need to write this but it was written to build the kind of world ML is creating. I also enjoyed how the author reuses characters. For example, some students or people MC first met at the very beginning of the apocalypse will continue to show up sporadically throughout the novel and you can see their growth. There is one person who ML saved from a police station and later you see him being the head of the interrogation team. Sometimes I don't even remember who this or that person is but the author will say this was so and so from here, etc. So I think the author wrote the story with a lot of intentions.

Despite the twists and turns at the end, I would say it's still well written. I'm just not used to those concepts the author put forth in my apocalypse novels. It's not bad, but it's just not something I expected to see when reading about zombies. It's not a solid 5 star for sure and might even be a 4 star but I personally will rate it slightly above 4 star. This is one of the better apocalypse novels and world building I've read. If the plot twists at the end is a concern for you then I don't suggest reading this cause it was a bit hard to get through lol. Overall, it was still enjoyable for the most part. <<less
