Trash of the Count’s Family

When I opened my eyes, I was inside a novel.

[The Birth of a Hero].

[The Birth of a Hero] was a novel focused on the adventures of the main character, Choi Han, a high school boy who was transported to a different dimension from Earth, along with the birth of the numerous heroes of the continent.

I became a part of that novel as the tr*sh of the Count’s family, the family that oversaw the territory where the first village that Choi Han visits is located.

The problem is that Choi Han becomes twisted after that village, and everyone in it, is destroyed by assassins.

The bigger problem is the fact that this s*upid tr*sh who I’ve become doesn’t know about what happened in the village and messes with Choi Han, only to get beaten to a pulp.

“…This is going to be a headache.”

I feel like something serious has happened to me.

But it was worth trying to make this my new life.

You know at first, I was like this story is kinda boring and I thought it was like any other transmigration stories.I think until chapter 115 I was actually thinking of dropping it but held on, damn I mean that was one of the best decisions I ever made.I mean after that point I was extremely intrigued by the story itself. The plot is extremely mind blowing. The author is amazing for thinking of such a good plot. When I first read the novel I pretty much didn't pay attention... more>> to some words (they were quite random and you think it's just a small part but no it was all the author 's foreshadowing) but when I retread them later they were connected like literally something that is just told in a few in for example ch 200 or so is later revealed to be an important part in ch 600 and so.

I first thought that the MC was like you know transmigrated protagonists from other stories where they are pretty much op from the start and no explanation is given but our MC here has a proper backstory to explain why he can remember almost every random quote in the book he read or the way he leads his people or his strategies, you name it every little detail has an explanation behind it.I was actually scared in the current arc if the novel is gonna go bad, but damn I was wrong (why did I even doubt the author in the first place?).

Overall the story is amazing and I recommend reading the novel before reading the manhwa.

Spoiler

God I love almost all of the characters.I also blame Cloeph for making me preach Caleism and lastly *takes a deep breath* Young master Cale, Raon, On, Hong, Choi Han, Eruhaben-nim, Rosalyn etc I love you all sooooo much.

Spoiler

Aaah, in the current chapters, author-nim really is giving answer to the 'if' questions. Like for example what if WS collect all of the five nature ancient powers (including blood drenced rock which was stolen by Cale) before Cale and the battle between two of them. And Cale finally said that he doesn't want slacker life (his is in SG's test of anger). Kudos to the author for the plot again and again.

edit-2 book 1 completed April 20 2022

Its been a long time since I read the main story. Currently the author is releasing side stories for book1. If I remember correctly book 2 is going to be released in June 2022. The side stories are uploaded in the nu spoiler forum. You get a side story every end of a month.I can't wait for book 2.
Spoiler

Cale finally stabbed himself in book 1. So there is no need for me to wait for the part. With book 1 ending there are more questions than answers now.

..... I was somehow under the misconception that this is a danmei novel... it's not but choi han and cale have amazing chemistry. BROMANCE IS GOOD TOO

it's an interesting read, I mean I stuck around for 73 chapters without seeing any ships but I still couldn't stop reading. That says something, right

One of my absolute favorite stories. The twists and turns are honestly so ingenious to me and I had subscribed to the religion of Cale-ism.

Honestly one of the best novels I have read and re read............ the manga adaptation however sucks and will only make sense if you have read light novel since alot of what MC does it explains his though process on what he thinks but in manga it doesnt.

MC is smart and uses it

... more>> Things that happen all connect together and are important to the future

If MC does something it becomes relevant and builds upon it in the future and makes sense

All the people around him also have their own stories and they all get development

In my opinion one of the best if not the best one I have read <<less

This novel is definitely above average. It has good dialogue, an interesting and unique plot, lots of character development. However, I became bored and disinterested with the story for one main reason that no one seems to be talking about in other reviews.

It is too repetitive.

Every battle, conflict, or mystery all play out the same. The MC uses his power with a weak body and spits up blood. Everyone feels bad for him and vows to get stronger. Then the MC becomes more powerful with a better body, still spits... more>> up blood. Everyone feels bad for him and vows to get stronger and none of them die or get seriously injured aside from the MC passing out again and again. The beginning of the story is more interesting as he intervenes in different situations without using any power. It involves unique ways to resolve conflicts by manipulating situations and people, but later in the story it is just the MC spitting up blood again and again.

The repetitive misunderstandings are also frustrating. They happen so many times just because they fail to communicate with each other to the point that many people around the MC don't actually understand their motivations or intentions. The fight scenes are also a bit to drawn out in my opinion with lengthy conversations and insults happening that just do not fit with an actual fight. It was a good way to build tension, especially in the earlier chapters but when conflicts last almost 20 chapters at a time it becomes bloated.

For the most part, this is an interesting novel with unique ideas, characters I want to know more about, and a warmhearted atmosphere that is generally missing in these types of novels. However, the repetitive nature really brings it down. The same tropes happening again and again became a chore even it was excellent entertainment in most aspects. I think that if this novel is read on a release schedule, the breaks in between hide these flaws but reading many chapters consecutively as a normal novel they are glaring. After the 20th large scale battle that is the same as the previous ones, the tension is gone and the lengthy fight scenes with characters having full conversations while a single attack makes its way over just becomes a chore.

I like this novel. I want to know more. I want to know how the ending is. But the problem is after 423 chapters I already do. The MC will spit up blood, cause a misunderstanding and everyone will live happily ever after. It is not a bad ending and I would be certainly happy with it. But I have gotten this ending to every conflict since the beginning of the story. I will probably pick this up again in half a year but if you read this and haven't read the story yet, I recommend reading it in short sections. <<less

i can say that this is my absolute favorite story! The people who gave 2 stars or less most likely didn’t read far enough to understand his behavior and good memory in the first 200+ chapters. Him wanting to live a slacker life, by getting stronger and his OP memory are all explained (eventually) and the explanation is integrated very well within the plot. There is also a manga if you need visual image of all the characters.

BTW, up to now

Absolutely amazing world-building, fleshed out characters.. As you read it, you get attached to the characters so much. Unreliable Narrator but it adds to the story and the experience. I loved every single second I spent reading this.

(If find the writing strange or if it's wrong, I'm sorry about that, I'm not English.)

It contains a certain amount of spoiler, but nothing that affects the reader's reading at the beginning.

I think this work is wonderful. Cale is an MC that makes me proud, honestly. As much as he doesn't want complications in the relaxed life he craves, every problem that comes up that could threaten his lazy future he gets in the way. I saw a lot of comments talking about his contradictions saying he wants... more>> to be a lazybones and all of a sudden he's almost dying in a corner but dear, that's his charm. He knows that if he leaves that aside a lot of people will die (as much as he hasn't finished the novel, in a certain chapter he can see further ahead of what was written), it's called a sense of responsibility which is something he feels and very. Unlike other novels in the genre, the MC clings to this world and the people in it, he doesn't see them as characters from a book but as living creatures. If those people who criticized the novel hadn't stopped reading they would have understood what I'm talking about here.

Anyway, it's a great read, with characters that you end up getting attached to as the chapters go by. The villain, who appears much later, is well developed too. If you don't like the beginning, persist and read some more, give this wonderful novel a chance. <<less

Story gets much better over time I wasn't really hooked in the beginning parts of the story but after a while I fell in love with the story and the characters. I would say give it about 50 chapters for you to like it if you don't like it by then just drop it if you don't want to waste anymore time. This is not a story with any type of romance in it so if that's one reason you choose to read this you will be disappointed also you... more>> may get frustrated with the MC not wanting to get more powerfully in the beginning but that will change over time. <<less

If you're the type of person to read for the lovable characters and their dynamics than the story or then this is a good novel for you. It's a good casual read because the words are mostly simple and straightforward. It just lightly digs into the various characters mindset and backstory, and depending on the character these get expounded later on bit by bit.

I love this so so so much T_T Cale is the best MC ever, TCF is the best novel ever in my opinion!!! Sometimes, as the story progressed, novel tends to have its own upside-down kind of flow (aka exciting-boring-exciting again-plotline) BUT I dare to say that this novel would bring nothing but excitement to you. I wonder how can it be this fun in every chapter??? I might be biased so... ANYWAY!!! The best thing about this novel is no romantic subplot, of course. No white lotus females, no... more>> annoying plot filler... ah, heaven. The characters, both males and females, are badass and complete. Every character matters. <<less

This is one of my favorite non-complete-b*llsh*t transmigration stories, it's cliche but at the same time refreshing, because even the usual face slapping isn't deadly st**id and desperately focused on for no reason. Sure to every masterpiece there are flaws, and one of both the advantages and flaws of this novel is that it's long. But I can't understand the people who give it like 1 star after barely reading anything.

Now, this is a novel that you should take your time to read. This novel has parts where you won't... more>> want to stop, but it also has parts where you just want to scroll as fast as possible to get it over with because the author is seriously just making filler and you can't really bother to care about this minor stuff when the story right behind the corner is so many times more intriguing. But you will definitely regret it if you stop too early. This kind of story is the type you should be picking up and putting down several times before suddenly both loving and hating it.

The characters are pretty well written, but because it's so long and spread so throughout it sometimes feels like we don't have enough of some and too much of others, like for example I really hope there will be more story directly with Ron and Beacrox. The character development is also pretty nice and written at a good pace considering the pace of the whole story. Although there is a sh*t load of OP characters that's not necessarily bad precisely because there are so many. Our MC, little tr*shy young master Cale is a failure as tr*sh,

Spoiler

and keeps saying that he won't sacrifice himself but does it every time. He acts like a tsundere sometimes, to be honest. But his reasons (slacker life) and how although he originally does everything to not have a bad conscience and to live in peace is what makes it really interesting as he eventually really starts to care about them all but sometimes even as he acts upon it he doesn't realize it and rather the others due. One of the best things is him being happy that he's tr*sh so he doesn't have to worry about things or him very straightforwardly saying he's tr*sh to which barely anyone believes. But the best thing is that he's not a s*upid little bit*h waiting for everything to happen on its own (completely going with the flow) and acting like a piece of wood or wallflower and actually does shit, this really deserves and is a good example of the #proactive protagonist tag

[collapse]

This novel also has a manhwa adaption, which I totally recommend, and has a gorgeous art style btw, maybe it's because it's adapted more tightly for drawing but the moving pace is much more engaging than the novel. <<less

As usual, Korean novels have less s*upid plot than Japanese isekai but at the same time they have nothing stand out either. They are not one-of-a-kind story, and will get more boring the longer you read. Some idiots said it get better after a few hundreds chapter, but it is only because first few hundred chapters are so boring that makes slightly change stand out. And a novel need a few hundreds chapter just to make readers interests is no where near a good novel, stop with that excuse. I love this novel so much. Some may complain abt the MC's scheming. But is he bad person? No. Seriously no. He maybe used many people but he never let them in danger. I love how he used his brain. I'm so amazed. Cale is likable MC (at least for me). I just love how he said he wanted a lazy life but he always encountered problems. He is not OP so he needs many people to help him.

For romance? I don't think it will be necessary. I need novel... more>> who is fully adventure. I'm woman but I love this kind of novel. I read so many novel abt romance and kind of sick with that. Especially when the ML & FL has so many misunderstanding, and end up hurting each other. Ugh so annoying.

Oh yeah, I want to say about other characters. The author never neglected other characters especially they are MC's people. All of them has their own background. Pls be patient.

So for someone who like adventure, fantasy, clever protagonist, no romance, great plot, fantastic schemer, royal friendship. This is great novel to you. <<less

This has to be one of my all time favorites. Having read this far, I have to say I’m enjoying the plot and I’ve found the characters really relatable what with all the flaws that they are shown with.

Another great point is that there’s absolutely no romance so if you hate that kind of stuff you might be able to enjoy it.

I generally don’t like stories with too much action but I have to say this one is a exception.

I've seen many reviews that complain about the slow pacing. Those people drop the story far too early into the novel and don't really know the whole picture. It's offensive because some haven't even read to the double digits or triple digits and they already judge it. The earlier chapters doesn't explain everything, and for a good reason. To explain everything so early in the novel will make the story bland. So read until you reach 200-400 before you actually complain about something.

This is the first novel that I've never... more>> dropped despite reaching chapter 427. Unlike the other novels I've read, not once had I thought to drop this because of the mystery behind the characters and the amazing plot. I'm a lazy reader so the fact that I reached chapter 427 says something.

The MC

Spoiler

He is smart, manipulative, and cunning. In the beginning, he doesn't really show any affection for anyone. He's a bit closed off and manipulates the people around him. There is a good reason for this and the answer is only shown in 300-400 chapters. However, he soon learns how to understand and love the people around him. He learns how to be genuinely kind and affectionate. In a way, this novel has a "found family" kind of vibe that begins with reluctance but ends with acceptance.

I admit that he is OP. He's OP because he gains a lot of powers. He is also really smart (again, there's a reason for this, and the clue is because of his past as Kim Rok Soo). Combining his abilities with his strategies makes him really OP as a character.

But at the same time, he's also the weakest among the group. The people around him are also OP, both his friends and enemies. While he is OP, his mind is his best weapon, not his powers. He only uses his powers when they're in a tough position, and when it involves hundreds of lives. He is physically weak and this makes the stakes higher, especially when he's up against strong enemies. The powers he has with him has consequences and this causes worry and frustration among the group.

His past as Kim Rok Soo is very important. Just because he became Cale Henituse, that doesn't mean his past ends there. If you read on to 300-400 chapters, you'll find out why he became smart and manipulative, and why he seems so calm despite having transmigrated to another world. Again, finding about Kim Rok Soo's past is an important part of the plot.

[collapse]

The plot

Spoiler

The plot does indeed start slow. It only picks up when the antagonists, as well as the main antagonist, shows up. The pacing is okay for me because once it picks up, you'll feel the MC's exhaustion because of the battles after battles he faces. In the early chapters, the author drops a few hints here and there that will become really important in the future chapters. There are a lot of plot twists in this story. It makes the plot exciting and unpredictable, because you don't know what will happen next.

And it's because the MC doesn't know what will happen next, contrary to what most people say about his knowledge of the book. He didn't finish the novel. He died before finishing it. So the complaints about him knowing the "future" doesn't really make sense because his knowledge about the book is limited and because of this, his strategies shine in the story. Just because he read the book doesn't mean he's not smart. After 100-300 chapters, his knowledge about the characters are basically useless.

[collapse]

The characters

Spoiler

There are also complaints about the minor characters becoming boring. Again, read more than the double digits because the minor characters' stories are shown later on in the story. They always come up again in the plot, and they are mostly connected with the enemy.

Everything is connected. The characters and the plot are all connected. This isn't shown early in the story but each character are involved for a reason. And that reason is the main antagonist and the MC.

What I love about the characters is they improve along with the MC. They may be strong in the beginning, but they still develop further in the story.

I've seen reviews that complain that the characters are too OP and that makes the story boring. Again, the characters and their enemies are OP. They may be seen as strong in the beginning, but their enemies are stronger than them.

[collapse]

The antagonists

Spoiler

The antagonists in the beginning are just minor antagonists. They are there to show us that there is a more dangerous enemy in the future. They show us tiny pieces of the main antagonist, clues to who he is. The antagonists later on in the story have a deeper meaning to why they became that way. They aren't just characters anymore. There is a good reason why they are willing to kill people without mercy. There is a good reason why they're crazy. And it's all because of the main antagonist.

The main antagonist doesn't appear until 300-400 chapters. He is always just mentioned as someone who is like a god to the antagonists. And when he appears, he is strong and dangerous. Again, if the MC and the minor characters are strong, the main antagonist is stronger. He is someone who doesn't care about the people around him (for a good reason). He is willing to destroy everything in his path to get what he wants.

[collapse]

So please, read until 200-400 chapters before you judge it. Don't just drop this without knowing more. Don't just judge it without knowing the full story. <<less
