Rong Qing transmigrated into the role of a big boss inside a book. Passionate, rich, and extremely good looking.

Yet this kind of big boss character, there were a total of six in the original book. All were embraced and hugged left and right by the original book’s main character Xiao Ziqi.

How can this be in accordance with the values of an upright modern society?

Rong Qing immediately sharpened his (metaphoric) sword and prepared to battle against the other big bosses. He will let them learn that although love was precious, making money was even sweeter!

During this process, he also accidentally picked up a little wolf pup cannon fodder from the original book and started his sweet, yet hilarious new life…

This is so so so so so amazing. My second favorite danmei novel ever! (With the first being 'Transmigrating into the Reborn Male Lead's Ex-Boyfriend'; to those who have read both, can you infer my tastes? Haha.) I fell absolutely in love with the main characters and had such a joyous time following his story.

The moment I began reading this, it had captured me. It's not one to be taken too seriously, as the premise is more revolving around the MC's silly pursuit of love and him flaunting his immense... more>> wealth. However, I think there can be a lot of charm in these stories, especially if you're looking for something light-hearted and hilarious. Open your mind to plot holes and nonsense, and you're sure to have a lot of exciting, face-slapping fun! SPOILERS AFTER THIS POINT!

Plot Overview:

The MC transmigrates into a danmei harem novel as one of the harem members. He immediately decides to not follow the plot and begins his hunt for a perfect little lover. The rest of the novel basically consists of him constantly smashing money, hindering the original protagonist, and chasing after the ML, who slowly warms up to his efforts.

Truth of transmigration:

The extras reveal that before the MC transmigrated into Rong Qing, there was another foreign soul occupying the body. This soul wasn't very clearly talked about, but from what I've read it is the predestined plot of the world, sent to shaped Rong Qing into the role of a harem member in the og novel and follow the plot. This soul has forced out the Original Rong Qing into the body of a cat named Sweet Pea. After 3 years of being Sweet Pea, the Original Rong Qing received a message from the system, saying that they would send a new soul into the Rong Qing body to change the body's fate. This new soul is the MC.

My thoughts on characters:

The MC, Rong Qing, exudes both the images of a feisty cutie and handsome big-boss. He's extremely versatile depending on who he's in the presence of. A spoiled sweetheart with his love interest, a shameless show-off with his friends (?), and a domineering boss to the public. Overall so vibrant and amusing.

The ML, Lin Ji, is the proclaimed cannon fodder of the original story. He's an actor who's fame is dying out, until the newly transmigrated MC invests in a show to make him the lead actor. He's hesitant and unwilling to involve himself with the MC at first, but warms up upon discovering the MC's silly and sweet interior. His personality is a bit distant to others, but he brightens with love when around the MC. I've seen quite a bit of reviews mention that his character is boring- which I can somewhat agree- but I feel that the tacit love that he holds for the MC is so moving. Maybe I'm being lured into liking him more than I should.

The supporting characters are wonderful as well. Some of my favorite scenes in this novel are the scenes in the MC's friend group chat. It's basically a group chat consisting of previous reformed tops of the protagonists, of whom the original protagonist had tried to seduce but ultimately failed due to the MC stepping in. They are some the the funniest characters in the novel, rich-boys that have withered due tho the MC's constant flaunting of wealth. The MC basically sends images showing off his love life and his expensive material items. They all basically swear up and down that they will surpass him one day, but can never resist fueling his pride.

Other notable supporting characters are Assistant He (MC's assistant) and his cat, Sweet Pea. I've seen this duo mentioned consistently and I must admit that I have also fallen for the cat-craze. As a cat owner myself, I understand feeling the unceasing need to spoil a kitty. He spends all his bonuses on getting his Sweet Pea vacations, treats, toys, etc. It seems that everyone at the MC's company is a hardcore Sweet Pea fan.

The main antagonist, the original protagonist, is a spiteful and spoiled white lotus, but honestly a pretty weak character who isn't strong enough to even get close to contending with the MC. Spoiler about his ending: he went crazy near the end and went to prison. Quickly becomes irrelevant.

Side Couples:

Chu Ke x Bodyguard A; Chu Ke is a student turned film director who was taken in by the MC to manage a branch company because MC wanted his film script. Bodyguard A is MC's main bodyguard.

Lin Yue x Yan Zheng; Lin Yue is our ML's brother, and Yan Zheng is his boyfriend. They've been together since before the MC transmigrated. Yan Zheng's name was not revealed until like 50 chapters in and he is a surgeon.

Gongsun Zibai x Mu Cheng; Rich "Uncle" Gongsun Zibai, I'm pretty unclear of what exactly he does. Mu Cheng is a Cantonese-speaking rich landlord from Guangdong whom is constant critiqued for his horrible Mandarin. I don't exactly know how a relationship formed between them, but they are both friends/had friendly relations with the MC.

He Qian x Sweet Pea (OG Rong Qing) ; This duo only appears in the extras, when it's revealed that the Sweet Pea from the entire duration of the main story has been the OG Rong Qing all along. He can shape-shift from cat to human and has been staying with He Qian even 3 years before the main story began. Read my "Truth of transmigration" section to learn more. Anyway, they soon get together when He Qian confesses that he's liked the OG Rong Qing for many years, since their school days.

These side couples have almost no significance to the main story, except for Lin Yue and Yan Zheng occasionally giving the ML advice about the MC. They don't have much screen time as couples (only as individuals), but also not so little that they are forgotten. The main couple definitely stays the stars of the show throughout the entire story. Negatives & Critiques:

The main issue that makes my feel iffy is the MC's hyper-fixation on stereotypical "bottom" and "top" roles. It gets constantly brought up and seems to disregard even any semblance of actual LGBTQ+ ideals and communities. I'm fine with the fact that his character is extremely confidant with the role of a "bottom", but he seems to always project these roles onto others. Another thing is underlying h*mophobia. This is present in a specific scene when the MC is convincing a "top" to no longer pursue the original protagonist. His excuse was that when the adopted a child, the child would be confused about having to call for two dads and would ask about where his mom was. I don't know if this reflects the authors real views, but everyone has the right to a family no matter their sexuality. It's so backwards to think that a child needs one mom and one dad in order to grow up properly. As someone who's been reading for many years, I've learned to not take many things seriously, but will always be rubbed the wrong way if something can cause the indirect stigmatization of real-life oppressed groups. I hadn't wanted this to be the biggest paragraph, but alas, it had it be said.

Conclusion:

Despite the flaws, I enjoyed this danmei a lot. Thankfully the negatives were few and far between, so I didn't have much issue making it through the novel. Be sure to read my critique section so that you don't put yourself in an uncomfortable situation midway through reading. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a quick and sweet read, following the nonsensical, rich day-to-day life of overpowered main leads. <<less

Our MC is a cutie! NOT the "weak, s*upid, white lotus" type of cute but a bit domineering? Fun and friendly cutie! Too be honest I can feel the loneliness of our MC when he is alone that is why he would pester some friends or the ML. Also MC loves money and squander money. As for the ML he is a cutie and sweet ahhh

I laughed so hard. Chapter 2, when the OG owner of the body wish to love one person. MC first thought was, all of... more>> the fone tops were with OGMC (Xiao Ziqi) he didnt even think of ML 😂 He really just have a good impression to ML because he smell nice 😂

Bored out of my wits, idk why but I used to be a major fujoshi, but these days everything just seems... Meh.

By ch 55, I already don't sense any surprise, the plot is sssoooooo ssslllloooooowww, idk why most c novels are so obsessed w/ ultra wealthy, lol. For example, every other characters would always be envious and/or try to flaunt their wealth, only to be defeated by 10x more wealth from MC (FL/ML).

Not a satisfying face slap for me, i'd rather a banter of clever words/action/scheme.

And... I think the translator... more>> did a great job, but the author seemed confused with their own characters? Slight inconsistencies about Rong Qing's character (

). To me, that smelled like an attempt to prolong the plot without regards towards Rong Qing's intelect.

And the misunderstanding amongst RQ & LJ, lmao omg, that's really reaching to a new point. They are not 12y.o. girls, why make such suspicion & inability to talk straight for >20y.o succesful, working, ultra talented males?

And... Again with the fixation that bottoms will always be bottoms. Sigh.

So bored, so tired. <<less

I LOVE THISSSSSSSSS, YOU LOT MUST READ IT IF YOU LIKE SLOW DEVELOPMENTS AND BUSINESS AS LONG AS ADORABLE SHOU AS THE PROTAGONIST!!! This is by far one of the best yaoi novel i've ever read.

The best part is that theres multiple couples with enough screentime like you see their outcome and that or you see their love story.

Although you have to be a bit patient with the main couple, they are honestly the cutest main couple i've ever read about before.

Ah *nods repeatedly* this story is one of the many reasons why I like BL QT novels more than the BG ones. I want 200 chapters more of this hillarious MC 😭 I'm glad that the story doesn't take itself seriously.

Also, it's rare that I met a novel with shippable side CPs. Usually I don't like them because they often got in the way of the OTP's romance, but here I don't even skip a tiny little bit of paragraphs written about the side CPs.

Buuut I didn't rate this a... more>> solid five stars because first, I have to agree that the MC's flaunting behaviour is annoyingly excessive and two, the reciprocation between the two leads is unbalanced.

It was sweet at the beginning but as the MC invested more money and feeling to the ML, I feel kinda disappointed that other than accompanying the MC from time to time amidst his busy schedule, the ML doesn't pay that much attention to MC. Not that I'm an attention who*e but I feel sad for the MC when his messages hasn't been returned by ML for a long time. Filming is a busy job, yes, but I do know that each shot doesn't take that much time and ML could've replied to him from time to time between shooting.

Here's an example from ch. 80

Spoiler

MC was decorating his oceanside mansion, paid thrice the normal amount for a rush job, invited ML for a banquet, gifted his precious and sought-after motorcycle for the ML and stood in front of the mansion in the cold for a long time because the ML didn't reply even after shooting.

"I came late." Lin Ji walked forward and apologized sincerely: "Did you wait for me for a long time?"

"Of course. You didn't even check how long I waited for you. Didn't even answer your phone." Bringing this up, Rong Qing instantly complained righteously.

You didn't return my text or my calls! Which caused daddy to have no appetite at all! You big scumbag!

Lin Ji also froze. He immediately replied: "You haven't eaten yet?"

You're still asking!? You still have the face to ask!? You can actually ask this outloud

[collapse]

Even his first gift to MC was a cheap handmade animal doll whilst the MC has been a thoughtful guy the whole time, he even remembered to order the assistant to buy food for ML's crew amidst a cramped overtime night.

Do remember that ML is
Spoiler

a hidden rich guy from an apparently very affluent and famous family (it'll come up in the middle of the story)

[collapse]
and has been working in the entertainment circle for 10 years. Even if he didn't earn that much, a cheap doll for the first gift was too... Cheap. Sorry for the pun. I even skipped ahead to see if their dynamics changed but it's still MC who was the more invested party in this novel.

C'mon, man. If I'm the MC who was tasked by the body's original owner to be happily married to a faithful soulmate, I wouldn't choose such inattentive guy. I would've chosen the assistant. There are hints that the assistant was quite protective of MC and was kinda interested in MC's current personality. <<less

Romcom with 75% comedy and 25% romance. Now, we all know that a lot of what passes for humor for some, is insulting to others. The same with this novel. There were many chapters that had me rofl-ing. Some where I found the humor in bad taste and some that I just didn't find amusing.

TOO GOOD! TOO FUNNY!

EXTREMELY CUTE!

MC: Funny ass protagonist. His first thoughts are about how he's a strict bottom. The most honest straightforward tsundere I've ever met. Doting af! Want the moon? Here's three, ne color each.

... more>> ML: Cute! Wolf pup! Faithfully pampered and raised into a kind, understanding, loyal, successful and manly top!

ALL of the supporting characters are each their own brand of interesting unique and funny, really makes you love them all! I even love all of the nameless fans the main couple have! Relatable!

Overall extremely funny and refreshing story, nothing to dislike. They genuinely grow to whole heartedly love each other, and show just how much they cherish and appreciate the other at all times.

It's funny! It's sweet! It's satisfying!

A small warning before anyone starts this novel, make sure you're in a place where you can disgracefully cackle away. Good lord, the first half of the novel got me cracking up constantly. The latter half is filled with sweetness and dog food.

The face slapping is satisfying, completely void of angst. MC is an extremely quirky tsundere. I wouldn't have minded if the entire novel was mainly about him and his bros flaunting their wealth, when the focus was completely back to the romancing it slightly got stagnant. The circumstances... more>> to how he transmigrated and all supernatural shenanigans are however messy and half heartedly written. I feel like the author could've elaborated more on that to give the novel a new flavour.

You normally always see read about the POV of protagonists getting spoiled by their CEOs and this table turner was quite refreshing. It's definitely worth giving a try for!

Great translations and great story narration. <<less

I will pile more praises on top of other positive reviews! This is a fun, comedic and less problematic of most CEO x Actor novel

MC is very special, he's thin skinned, very image conscious and love to flaunt! I love that he calls himself daddy and he spoils the ML a lot!

The dynamic ends up being really fun, though it's a grooming relationship, he doesn't actually mold ML to be anything, he just showers affection and hope ML turns out to be a good bet. He was also prepared to... more>> find other people if ML turned out to be disappointing top lol... thankfully ML never knew.

This is why it feels balanced, MC doesn't pressure ML to do extreme stuff, ML doesn't feel like he's below MC. They're together because they found understanding, support, and happiness in each other!

Spoiler

It's too correct how when you think about it deeply, MC doesn't have many accomplishments he made himself. I guess he can be forgiven since it's a novel world, and his networking ability and ability to make lasting relationships were why the system/original CEO chose him.... but it's still weird how people are calling him capable and accomplished despite him not really doing those CEO stuff himself. Original CEO and He Qian did most of the lifting

[collapse]

I think ML does lose a bit of personality over time and become a bit like cookie cutter ML.... but the progression was really good that I didn't notice... *ashamed

Good call on bottom seal, their relationship fermented over time and the xesual tension became really high. I admire ML for not questioning MC for seemingly dragging on the relationship for no reason.

the novel is really fun because the author didn't deliberately explain everything,
Spoiler

like what white lotus's system wants, if the book is real destiny or altered destiny, and why white lotus kept focusing on bringing Lin Ji down. So I didn't have to analyse it further, and possibly have my enjoyment ruined by dogblood. After reading a lot of system/novel transmigration novel, I think it's quite fun to have it remain a mystery and I can have my own guesses.

[collapse]

I was ready to give 5 for how much the novel entertained me and kept a fairly tight plotline and variety in a cliche genre..... but ad the chapters go on, MC's character became boiled down and author never explained more about him, which made him feel like a puppet.
Spoiler

Too bad we never find out more about MC's background or who he was before this! I even thought he was sweet pea based on how brazen and princely he is!

[collapse]

I like how the setting and pairings are made, the world is established as a danmei harem, so it's really easy to accept these people getting together. <<less

I can't bear to read the extra. I read too fast for the half of the novel because I got bored. It was pretty interesting at the start. But along the way it got really boring and somehow annoying.

I don't know why it was rated this high. It's not funny at all for me. Not entertaining at all. It was really easy to read though. Because you don't have to read all the paragraphs just to know what's this story about. Meaning the description got too repetitive and got a... more>> lot of unnecessary comments.

Honestly I regretted having to read this. I can't just dropped a novel because my principle is to read a novel until the end. No matter how bad it is.

From what I read there's no actual plot whatsoever. This just a novel that tells you a daily live of a wealthy man and his actor boyfriend. Although they became a pair much later in the story.

I totally lost my mood to read anything because of this. Well the choice is yours. Every person's preferences is different after all. <<less

I think this novel is very refreshing and hillarious. As the author notes, this novel is a silly type and not to be taken so seriously. Some reviewers say it gets repetitive, but IMHO it does not get boring.

ML and MC relationship dynamics are also very different than typical gong/shou. I love it.

I am giving this novel 4.5 based on its genre. I enjoy it very much.

I'm not going to rate this series since I didn't finish it but I can explain why I just dropped it.

While I did find the comedy good and characters decent; it just took TOO LONG! This series does not need these many chapters, it feels like it kinda drags on, especially considering the MC seems to lack EQ. It was only 90's chapters that the MC started to realize he probably liked the ML; is he brain-dead? One of my absolute favourite novels!

The story overall is very lighthearted, and not the usual plot-heavy and serious type of novels I read.

The characters are refreshing and very different from the usual tropes that I find a lot in danmei. The shou, Rong Qing, is an exuberant and flamboyant CEO who loves to exaggeratedly flaunt his money. He is very strong-headed and resilient, and in the moments where he does mess up, it's often turned into an entertaining and amusing little scene that never fails to extract a laugh out of me. His inner monologue is extremely funny and full of the most random, embarrassing shit. He often addresses himself as 'daddy' and on the occasions it does slip out, it's funny as f*ck.

The gong, Lin Ji, is a sweet and charming actor who is extremely supportive of Rong Qing's antics and isn't a forceful and overbearing iceberg like most gongs I've seen. At first, he's really shy and cute but gets used to (although he still can't really figure out what goes on in Rong Qing's head) Rong Qing's spontaneous personality, and it's really wholesome seeing how both characters dote and pamper each other.

The side characters are really funny additions to the story, and the CEO friend group is probably my favourite group of characters. Song Xian, Gao Jiaxuan, Mu Cheng and Gongsun Zibai were definitely my favourite side characters in the novel.

Spoiler

In the extras, it is shown that the original Rong Qing actually took possession of He Qian's cat which explains the gaps in the plot that weren't filled earlier. OG Rong Qing and He Qian's side ship was actually really cute and fluffy! One of my favourite parts in the book.

[collapse]

However, I will say that there are

some (minor) cons as always.

At first, Xiao Ziqi (the villain) does have a big role in the story, constantly trying to bu*t into MC and ML's business in an attempt to ruin them. Later on, as the story progresses, Xiao Ziqi is often missing and doesn't have an active part in the plot. When he does get dealt with, it's in an off-screen and swift manner that I felt was extremely anti-climactic, and just felt like a poorly done extra part only put in to conclude the villain's storyline, with not much significance at all.

The side characters that are seemingly important at first are often left behind and pop up randomly again out of nowhere (much like Zhu Xun) with not much importance attached to them, and it's usually as if they're just... there. They don't impact the plot much at all.

I picked this book up without many expectations, but it ended up becoming one of my absolute favourite novels out of tens of hundreds of danmei novels I've read before. The cons aren't very major and are easy to ignore.

Ratings:

    • Translation: 5/5
    • Plot: 3.5/5
    • Romance: 5/5
    • MC: 5/5
    • ML: 5/5
    • Side characters: 4/5
    • Comedy: 5/5
Overall: 4.6/5

There's not a lot of plot, but the comedy in this novel is absolute gold. Stays true to the authors summary. The romance, although slow, is really cute!

Lots of fluff, well-written characters, a good amount of face slapping, and the funniest MC! A very lovely and light book. The chapters amount to 155, with the rest being extras. Translations were well done and fast. The extras are some of my favourite bits. Recommended read!

I'm still at chapter 112, so about 2/3 of the way through this novel, but I wish it would go on longer. I guess I'll have to find more stories by this author.

As a side note, I wonder just how many cell phones were smashed in this story? R.I.P. To those poor innocent phones.
