Three Joys

Description

Links are NOT allowed. Format your description nicely so people can easily read them. Please use proper spacing and paragraphs.

In this world, people are divided into three kinds.

The chang ren are just ordinary people. At the top are the xie, born with pure Yang bodies and seen as the most powerful. Then there are the kao—people with Yin bodies who can give birth regardless of their gender. They are rare, which makes them highly sought after by noble families.

When a xie and a kao come together, they bond for life and produce heir that is legacy of the their entire family.

***

Sanxi grew up neglected by the Shen family. As the son of a low-ranked concubine and a chang ren, he was treated more like a servant than a son.

His fifth sister, however, was a kao already promised to marry two xie sons from one of the capital’s most powerful clans—the Xu family. But when his sister mysteriously passes away, Sanxi is sent to the capital.

There, he learns the truth about himself: he is also a kao.

Now, he must take his sister’s place and become the shared kao wife of two illegitimate xie sons from the Xu family, along with their eldest legitimate son, a chang ren.

Amidst this journey, echoes of a mystic past linger.

The fortune teller, stroking his beard, looked at me with a knowing gaze and uttered, “Child, your destiny is unusual. In your past life, you owed three people. In this life, whether it’s good or bad, it’s all closely tied to these three people.”

In a world where fates entwine like delicate threads, can Shen Jingting navigate the intricacies of love woven into the fates of three mysterious souls?

Will they guide him toward the embrace of happiness, or will they entwine him in the shadows of sadness?

For a novel with so much smut, I wasn't expecting that much plot lol.

I picked this up, yearning for some good ABO content plus, reverse harem is my weakness... and boy was I surprised. There are some common tropes here — rich tsundere MLs, belligerent s*xual tension, terrible in-laws eventually getting their karma served etc. But overall, the pacing is good, with hardly any redundant filler chapters, and all the main characters (MC + 3 MLs) have decent character developments.

The only trigger warnings I would share are mild paedophilia, the... more>> rest are in the tags. If you're not into dub-con/non-con, the beginning of the story will be rather difficult to read, but unlike most BL novels out there, it actually serves the plot well.

In the literary sense, this is not an easy read either. The author's writing style is rather grandiose, with many idioms and flowery prose (yes, even the *coughs* smut *coughs*). Tbh, I wouldn't be able to read it without constantly googling for definitions. So I would assume translating this would not be easy. (Kudos to the translators) There are a couple of paragraphs that were so beautifully written that I just had to screenshot it.

Also, if you're worried about not getting a satisfying ending, the author actually hinted the HE in their chapter notes.

I gave it 5 stars to help increase the rating, because it's one of the better ones I've read in a while — finished it within 2 days with hardly any sleep. LOL.

Spoiler

The story only climaxes around chapter 60+ when the MC makes a drastic decision to leave. There is also 4P in this story, how it happens is rather.. interesting and tragic... I won't give away too much.

The last 10+ chapters are actually extras after a time skip.

  1. okay I don't usually leave reviews but here's my overall opinion of (I MTL-ed it cos there's only a few chapters here) It's a sad & angsty novel with quite a lot of drama and I really feel sorry for the MC. He is forced to marry 3 guys who all hv their own 'unique' temperament in replace of his half (?) sister.

    1. At the start MC was literally treated like a s3x doll for his husbands to vent & also to birth heirs to contribute to the human population. (it's kind of like omegaverse but not quite)

    2. my review of mc's 3 husbands

    - xu changfeng is the oldest & has your typical stone, cool personality and is a high ranking official. My only dissatisfaction is that he alr had a concubine (or was it wife) b4 MC came along, hence he has a kid already which annoys me cos MC deserves the best okay.

    - xu yanjing the 2nd young master. Hot tempered & rash, his only redeeming trait is that he's fckin gorgeous and I'm sorry but he's my favourite out of the three.
    Spoiler

Also he has a ton of character development, , from r2ping & flaring up randomly to being patient and asking MC for consent. Remember, consent is sexy.

    [collapse]

    - xu qihe the youngest, a wolf in sheep's clothing. He acted like a demure bunny but is actually a poisonous snake. He's arguably the worst male lead in terms of moral values.
    Spoiler

THIS MF LITERALLY CAUSED MC TO NEARLY DIE COS HE WAS JEALOUS

    [collapse]

    3. Why I didn't give 5 stars? The plot was indeed above average but I felt irritated abt how MC was so forgiving, kind, etc. Not that I'm mad about him being a genuinely nice person but
    Spoiler

the way he forgave xu qihe so easily?? like I wanted more confrontation and the 3rd male lead to be held responsible for his inhumane actions towards the servants. But apparently, he is sooooo sick since young so we shld all pity him and overlook his misdeeds.

    [collapse]

    4. In a nutshell, I still enjoyed this novel and would recommend it to ppl who enjoy dogblood (meaning angst/jealousy) & family drama!!
[27/12/2023 EDIT !!!!!!!!]

YES I REREAD THE WHOLE NOVEL AFTER 2 YEARS, this time with a proper translation and not MTL. Okay my perspective completely changed and my review is diff.

Honestly I'm still a little indignant abt the treatment of the MC and how they never actually resolved the conflicts (they kind of just glossed over it with timeskips). But I absolutely love this novel. It touches on many topics, all the characters are 3dimensional and profound. As in the author did not put a single supporting character to waste and the mls are also super well written. When I tell you I cried 3 times while reading this... I just felt like the characters are so human you know. I totally understand of all their struggles like the way they dealt with it (e.g. the 3 mls taking out their anger on mc) is obviously morally wrong, yet you can't help but empathise with both parties -- the offender and the victim. Anyway I feel like my heart got stabbed countless times by a knife while reading this IT'S A GUT-WRENCHING NOVEL FOR SURE :') In the end I still feel sorry for Sanxi, yet I've understood that "fairness or justice" is just not possible sometimes. Sanxi has been wronged by so many people in his life, yet he chooses/has no choice to to forget, forgive or live with those indelible scars. I just feel so regretful
Spoiler

about Sanxi's birth mother's death. That actually f*cking crushed my heart. Like... all the loss, pain and regret Sanxi felt.... I could literally feel it in my bones. I'm literally so, so sorry for him. It reminds me of the Hunger Games when Prim died in the end. The one thing, sole motive for all Katniss's efforts, just gone to waste. Sanxi is the same, he endured all that torment, just to find out, TWO YEARS LATER, that his mother had died shortly after he was married off... I have no words.

[collapse]
And after all this time, I stay by my "Xu Yanqing superiority" BC HE IS THE BEST ML OKAYYY. This is a true harem novel so there isn't a main ML but XYQ is literally the best one. He has the most angsty r/s with Sanxi. Let me explain myself:

1. Xu Changfeng - I'm sorry (not sorry) but I'm never forgiving him for how he treated Sanxi like the way he made him feel so unimportant and he never quite understood Sanxi. Plus he's way older than XYQ and Helang so yeah I kind of hate this guy...

2. Helang - tbh I liked his double facedness (added to his character) but he gave up too easily??? It's so odd like he was all possessive and insanely jealous but all of a sudden the fight leaves his body (after that big fight with XCF) and he becomes like a living corpse??? Hello he was so boring after that...
Spoiler

Okay but I did cry when he told Sanxi that in the next life he wants to be the only husband/one for him... LIKE YOU CANT PLAY WITH MY FEELINGS LIKE THAT HE LANGGGG

[collapse]

3. XU YANQING - yes he had anger issues but he was the only one who truly cared about Sanxi from the START. At the start: XCF married Sanxi bc of Lady Yu (his mother) and literally disliked/indifferent to Sanxi & Helang acted nice but that was just out of his inferiority complex and inherent jealousy of his brothers. Whereas XYQ demonstrated time and time again that he really holds Sanxi at the top of his heart.
Spoiler

Before you come at me and quote how he degraded Sanxi and told him to "get lost", all those things were done out of fear and insecurity. XYQ loved Sanxi so much that he couldnt stand rejection. Plus I will never forget the time when XCF was late to help Sanxi in heat and XYQ LITERALLY RISKED IT ALL TO GO AND HELP HIM. Literally the most passionate ml...

[collapse]
He's a bit of a tsundere at the start but you can see how he learns from his lessons and genuinely adores Sanxi so much it makes my heart throb. The way both XYQ and Sanxi can unspokenly understand each other... Everytime they hug I'm like crying bloody tears of angst. I need more XYQ screentimeee the author shld hv added a reconciliation scene after their "get lost" huge fight instead of f*cking turning Sanxi into some concubine expelled to the cold Palace...

Thank you for translating this novel !!! Three joys started well and ended well, it will leave a bittersweet taste in my mouth forever...

Hello, I'm RanforChu, the translator behind the novel "Three Joys" by WingYing.

Like many others, I was drawn into the story as a reader, but the limited number of chapters prompted me to step into the shoes of a translator and take on this project.

I was a bit nervous since it was my second project. The novel, packed with various elements, had me worried about accurately capturing its essence. Despite the initial jitters, navigating through the storyline turned out to be quite a fulfilling journey.

Now, switching from translator to reader, I'll... more>> share my take on "Three Joys."

Shen Jingting, or referred as Sanxi (three joys) is the main protagonist of this story.

He believed himself to be a "Chang Ren" A person who was ordinary, destined to become a merchant, travel the world and make the his life meaningful.

Growing up, he witnessed the harsh realities faced by concubines, as his mother "third aunt" was one. He experienced firsthand the immense challenges of living as "Chang ren" in his household that offered no love or status, relegating him to a position beneath even that of a s*ave.

Surrounded by such circumstances, he longed to get away from this household, away from the toxicity and live a life of his own. However, learning the death of his "kao" sister, he discovers a whole new life for himself that he didn't choose.

Considering the characters' ages, Sanxi's marriage at the tender age of 15 aligns with the societal norms of the time. In this ancient setting, his age is relatively late for marriage, especially given his "kao" gender. Typically, kao are wed early due to their rarity, compounded by the urgency driven by their unbearable menstrual known as heat cycles, which could pose life-threatening risks if not dealt promptly.

Confronted with this unexpected turn in his life, he, who once aspired to be a worldly scholar and merchant, now finds himself being a man's shared wife, despite being a man himself.

Spoiler

We later come to know that, he tolerated everything just for the safety of his mother, especially when he was being threatened by the Shen Family before his marriage.

[collapse]

Spoiler

The weight of his situation becomes even more heartbreaking when he discover the truth about his mother's death, after two whole years. It's even more heartbreaking considering how his mother actually died. In his childhood, a young Sanxi stumbled upon his sixth aunt's lifeless body in the courtyard well, having chosen to end her own life. Tragically, history repeated itself when his mother followed suit, also succumbing to the well's depths. He recalls that his mother, in moments of despair, had expressed that if not for him, she would have long jumped into the well. This traumatic childhood memory leaves an indelible mark on him, especially as he knows the emotional burdens borne by wives in the household. This awareness became an intimate part of his own existence as he, too, experienced the same emotional burden as a wife especially being a "kao" in this society.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Despite the ab*se and heartache, Sanxi holds on, driven by a belief that he could ensure a life of luxury for his mother. He clung to the notion that she harbored resentment towards her life and, possibly, towards him for being a "Chang Ren" rather than a "Xie-Kao" like his fifth sister. The hope that his prestigious marriage to the Xu family would bring prosperity to his mother shattered when the harsh truth emerged. Eventually, burdened by the weight of reality, Sanxi makes a heartbreaking decision—to follow in his mother's tragic footsteps and plunge into the river.

[collapse]

Sanxi's character is one defined by enduring hardship, sacrifice, and a profound sense of familial duty.

Spoiler

In a pivotal moment, he chooses to separate from his overbearing husbands, selfishly trying to paint himself as an ungrateful person, even knowing the situation. However, a deeper depression ensues, triggered by the revelation of his baby's gender as a "kao" like himself. This leads to his ultimate decision to break free from his three husbands and pursue his childhood dream of becoming a merchant, seeking meaning in a world beyond his constrained existence.

[collapse]

Spoiler

During his two years separation from his husbands, he still faces some nightmares,

interesting like the times, when he faces a severe illness, the pain he was going through can be parallel to the pain that his husband

Xu Changfeng was probably experiencing as we learned that he was tortured by the enemy and lost his eyes!

[collapse]

I would say, there are some plot holes, and the pacing of the story is quite fasten as it reach its climax however, I wished the author would have explored the past life, as they had stated in the novel. The connection between Sanxi and his three husbands in this present life raises questions about unresolved ties and his necessity to give back to them.

Furthermore, I would say this novel can be considered as a tragedy, but I don't want the readers to be stopped from reading it. It delves into the complexities of human emotions and the consequences of difficult choices, creating a deeply emotional experience for those who engage with it.

The story unfolds in a way that might evoke strong emotions, especially when seen through the lens of Sanxi, providing a deep and moving experience.

Moreover, the author is really great at storytelling and creating an emotional scenes. I cried too much in this story, it's definitely a soap opera worthy.

I have so many instances in this novel that had me balling like a baby!

Each and every characters in this story is a victim to their own circumstances, and there isn't a villain here, just human beings that are forced into their societal norm and expectations.

Spoiler

At the end, Sanxi realizes he still loves his husbands. He returns after two years immediately after hearing about He lang healths. The ending unfolds as a poignant and bittersweet moment. Much like years ago when Sanxi crafted a piece of art resembling a goldfish – although Xu Yanqing mistook it for a lotus flower – this artwork now hangs as a cherished heirloom. The reunion is touching, not only reuniting Sanxi with his child but also bringing him face to face with Xu Yanqing.

[collapse]

The story comes full circle, mirroring the novel's beginning with three joys arriving his home. Now, as the story ends, three joys entering his household, this time, enveloping him in love and happiness, bringing a heartfelt and emotionally resonant closure to the story.

Despite the story smutty elements, a captivating layer unfolds as the story delves into themes of generational trauma, human complexity, and love amid the intricacies of gender, status, and norms.

Our eldest ML: Xu Changfeng

He's our cold hearted macho ML.

He's the oldest, being of the age 30. He's a chang Ren.

As a chang Ren and the legitimate son of the Xu family, Xu Changfeng bears the weight of responsibilities in a world where Chang Ren are considered ordinary humans—the lowest tier compared to the esteemed Xie and Kao, perceived as blessed and destined for greatness.

Spoiler

Growing up, Xu ChangFeng faced challenges because, as a Chang Ren, he wasn't the automatic heir to the Xu Family. His mom, wanting him to achieve more than even the Xie brothers, pushed him hard, making him handle big responsibilities from a young age. Unlike the Xie brothers, who were scholarly, Xu ChangFeng chose a path in military—maybe as a way to break free from his mom's overwhelming ambitions.

[collapse]

Spoiler

His identity becomes a source of manipulation by Lady Yu, his mother, who orchestrates his life from childhood to adulthood, compelling him to achieve greatness for her own selfish motives.

[collapse]

Spoiler

She also forced him into marrying his first wife and fathering a daughter, all part of her design. Furthermore, Lady Yu includes him in a marriage with Sanxi without his consent. Originally meant to marry the Xie brothers, Sanxi becomes entangled in Lady Yu's greed.

[collapse]

Spoiler

Lady Yu's hope is that the child born from their marriage will be a son and a Xie, who can be the heir of Xu family.

She puts Xu ChangFeng through all this because he wasn't born a Xie, and thus, not a potential heir for the Xu family. It's genuinely disheartening because, despite his best efforts and attempts to understand and sympathize with his mother, she remains dissatisfied.

At first, he was kind of asshat to Sanxi, never doing it face to face and neglecting him, using him as a source of "duty" to bear an heir. This might have stemmed from his upbringing, surrounded by cunning people, leading him to assume Sanxi was no different. As the story progresses, Xu ChangFeng, initially cold and indifference, begins to thaw, and gradually, he opens up emotionally to Sanxi. For the first time in his life, love takes hold of him. This newfound emotion prompts him to take control of his own life, confronting his controlling mother, and, most importantly, becoming a protective person for Sanxi.

[collapse]

Sanxi relationship with his first husband is definitely brotherly, someone who he looks up to, and a protector.

And our second ML- Xu Yanqing.

He's our Tsundere tall king with anger issue ML!

He is 23 year old, a handsome young man with bright career as a ministry of justice in imperial palace.

The relationship between Xu Yanqing and Sanxi resembles a roller coaster ride. Given how similar their personality are, they both hate and love one another. However, as the story progresses, this tumultuous relationship transforms into a more heartfelt connection.

He changes from being a scum, to more composed calm person. But his love for arts, jokes and everything still stays the same and eventually he becomes a good person at the end and it's just so heartwarming, knowing what he had been through.

Spoiler

Before the Xie Family annexation, he was still a beast with lease around his neck. I mean yes, he was remorseful for assaulting Sanxi, and asked for consent the next time, but he still didn't shed his jealously nor impulsively when he ask Xu Changfeng to give Sanxi as some kind of object for his next heat.

[collapse]

As the story reaches its climax, Xu Yanqing undergoes significant hardships, leading to heartbreaking moments.

Spoiler

Following the Xie annexation, Xu Yanqing's maternal family faces exile due to their connection with Empress Chen's poisoning orchestrated by Concubine Xie.

This association made Madam Xie guilty, who sacrifices herself for the sake of the Xu family and her son. This devastating loss shatters Xu Yanqing, causing him to revert to his beastly nature, leading to harm inflicted on Sanxi as an outlet for his anguish. Amidst his depression, Xu Yanqing decides to let Sanxi go, recognizing the need for both of their well-being. It is said in the novel that, both of them never had a conversations or physical contact for months onwards after the incident and the last time, they did was when Xu Yanqing cried in his knee holding Sanxi, as Sanxi was about to leave the Xu residence.

However, he would still visit Sanxi with their baby in his arms to make the baby and Sanxi closer and possibly help Sanxi postpartum depression. And at the end, it's just so heartwarming cause Sanxi finally accepts his baby and Xu Yanqing with the goldfish-lotus flower chiming in the air!

[collapse]

It's more heartwarming, when in the extra, you realize how much the three husbands loved Sanxi when they gave name to their first baby.

As for our third ML- Xu Qihao

He's our Yandere beautiful black belly ML.

He's just 17, and is very much pampered with love by his whole family due to his sickness.

Sanxi and Xu Qihao's relationship unfolds with a sense of responsibility on Sanxi's part as a devoted wife to his ailing husband. Despite evident red flags in Xu Qihao's behavior, Sanxi chooses to overlook them.

However, we should be aware that with similar age, similar circumstance and how kind he treated Sanxi at first when Sanxi was neglected by his first husband and ab*sed by second, make it inevitable for Sanxi to develop deep feelings for him.

Xu Qihao seriously has inferiority issue, which drives his desire to monopolize Sanxi as he is aware that he can't overpower his two elder brothers who excels in everything that he dreams of. So, he tries to "win" Sanxi affection. The toxic blend of jealousy, desire, and obsession becomes a destructive force, causing harm to both Sanxi and Xu Qihao.

It's indeed sad that all three husbands share a reluctance to share Sanxi with each other.

The inevitability of jealousy in this complex marriage leads to misunderstandings and hurts Sanxi in the process. However, as the story progresses, it actually becomes better and there's harmony in the marriage.

Spoiler

I find it really cute that when Sanxi has some disagreement with one of his husband, he would just take his little baby and go into his own small courtyard and relax. And in this world, where having multiple concubines is normal, Sanxi remains the primary one legitimate wife of the three husbands.

[collapse]

Overall, this novel delivers a heartwarming story, seamlessly blending smut with a compelling plot. It stands out as one of the best Yaoi novels, and it's a must-read for those who appreciate a captivating and well-crafted story. <<less

I kept hoping this story would get better. That the MC would find some true happiness. Instead the MC is just ab*sed and brainwashed throughout the story. All the smut is just r*pe and noncon. I am not even going to comment on how the MC is gaslighted and has to feel thankful for all he ab*sed he received bc it could have been so much worse *rolls eyes*. This was really disappointing.

This is an extremely emotional review.

I just have to write this because there's a scenario that really drove me into tears, as there's nothing more painful than a betrayal from the person you thought you could fully trust. I was indifferent to the s*xual and physical ab*se that the MC suffered, but this one --- rendered me into an anguished cry.

It was when his remaining maid, whom he treated as a friend, confessed that she was pregnant with one of his husbands. It was also amidst the time of their family's repeated downfalls. Imagine having just received throws of stones, and when you're bruised, black and blue, this sudden news is similar to sprinkle of salt to your wounds.

Sobs. Some may find MC spineless, but that's just how he is. I don't want him to adjust to the world, I'll willingly change the world for him.

Well, it has smut and harem and the warnings are right in the tags. This is a work of fiction not real nor does it relate to the real word.

And thank you to the translators who bring out books for us to read ! Thank you for your hard work!

the MC is young a teen and have to get married to people older than him. Not only one but three. Having to serve them as a wife, and learning to please them in anyway. It doesn't get easier as MLs... more>> are difficult to get along in their own ways. You'll have to read it to find out.

The story is told first person in MC perspective. So you get to hear his thought a lot. As a teenager to well character development.

The MC was forced, nearly nothing in the ML's family was happiness. And by the 60-70 chapters did it drove us all (including me) insane. It's a rollercoaster ride. An endurance test. By the end it was satisfying. I feel so great completing the story.

The writing was good and I had nothing else to say. I've already vented it all into my list so... if you like drama and tears torturing yourselves with emotions. (´༎ຶོρ༎ຶོ`) <<less

This was unexpectedly beautiful.

first of all, the smut was well written. It was melancholic and sexy. Nasty and just my type.

second of all, the writing is not straightforward you have to read between the lines which gives it this mysterious feeling.

third of all, the plot is so bittersweet

I'm not even sure how to rate this novel tbh lol. I went in expecting the usual "no thought, head empty" harem smut, but I was served with a story full of angst, anguish, and pain. Albeit, it's a happy ending, but the journey there was quite painful if I must say so.

First person pov is also not my cup of tea too, because I feel don't like to feel like I'm part of to the MC when the "I" narration is used so much, therefore it makes me feel... more>> even more detached to the MC. I preferred to be the third eyes, not part of the first eyes. But I'm glad I've read it. It's quite a dark story.

The MC really suffers a lot, but his happy ending is well deserved. All the gongs are scum, but they developed and changed at the very end. Again, although the journey is painful, but it's something they all have to go through in order to develop. You can feel how their character grew in the extra.

I honestly really enjoy the extras.

If there's one thing I'm not satisfied with is
Spoiler

I would have wished the MC at least have a tryst with the Steward Lu. Yes, he's a eunuch, but even so he's the only good salvation during MC's dark journey.

I come for smut and hit hard by drama lol. Too much angst.

If you don't like r*pe, do not read this. It made my heart hurt and I cry every time for MC. Author write it so well how hurt it is, how the MC heart dying everytime (Normaly I'm fine with r*pe fantasy in smut novel)

I like Changfeng the most

Spoiler

I defend on him. At first Changfeng he do MC from back don't want to see each other face. I think he didn't mean he don't want to see MC face but he don't want MC to see uncontrol/emotional image of him. Try hard to keep cold and no feeling when he older anyway.

Yanqing, he always regret what he did but he cant control his emotion and mc's hard on him? So they keep hurt each other again and again. So sorry for both of them

I read this story without much expectation. I thought it would just be a short story with lots of sm*t. It turned out to be very interesting, the plot is very good, at some points it felt heavy, I felt like I had to take a break and take a deep breath before continuing reading again. But once again I remember that this story has a happy ending so I'm even more curious about how the author will cook to make it happy.

So this novel is about the MC who... more>> is a "Kao" aka omega. Because Kao in this story are very rare, he is married to three husbands who are brothers. The eldest is beta [chang-ren], the second and third is alpha [xie]

Of the three MLs, the eldest is my favorite. Maybe because I like the cold and indifferent male character who then slowly melts to his wife.

The story is well writen and the translation is very good.

This is actually a 3.7 rating, so I rounded up.

You know how we usually say, "It started well and went downhill." Well, for me, this one started out downhill and got better. There were times I thought, "I might as well drop this one." So when did it get better? When the conflicts started, meaning when we got the plot and less meat. Yeah, I saw the tags but... even when I read meaty novels, I stop after the first 2 or 3 meat scenes and look for the next... more>> or for something with plot cos the meat gets too repetitive or I might read something like that somewhere else. Anyway, meat aside... let's get into the review.

As you must have seen in the synopsis and other reviews, this is a harem novel with 3 MLs. The story follows omegaverse kinda theme with its own spin? Where 'Xie' (think alpha) men usually marry 'Kao' (omega). Then there is another one that is chang'er (ordinary person) (I am still tryna wrap my fingers around this cos after reading, I still don't understand).

They are all distinct and have their flaws tbh. I will talk bout them and give my fave and prolly tell why I chose him. It will be too spoilery so be careful before you click.

The first one:

Spoiler

He is the eldest brother. The son of the main wife of the family. Their dad has 3 wives and they each have sons. He is Xu Changfeng a 30-year old general. He is a chang'er. He wasn’t even supposed to be one of the husband cos of what he is. But his mum due to her insecure self added him to the list. At first, s*x with the MC was a struggle cos he didn’t wanna see his face, due to his past hurt. So he would snusnu face down or from the back. He was previously married and has a daughter. Don't let that deter you, they are not a problem.

[collapse]

The second one:

Spoiler

He is a hot headed bloke. Super emotional, this one. I am not supposed to start his bio with this but I couldn’t help it. He is Xu Yuanjin (a Xie). He was around 24 and works in the ministry of justice. Most of their s*x seemed forced (like r*pey) even though we know the MC will do it anyways. He also had the most fights with MC. Like when things are going well... something just happens. Though, I would say he kinda went through a lot bur damn... was he emotional. Loved his mum among all the father's wives.

[collapse]

The third one:

Spoiler

He is the third son. Named Xu Qihe. Started out quite nice and cute (was quite suspicious). But then, it happened. He ain't that nice and was wishy-washy. Yes, he was sick but still doesn’t justify his actions. Though, the twist about his sickness made my jaw drop.

[collapse]

So who is my fave?

Well, it's the first one.

Spoiler

His moments with MC were pretty intense at the beginning and very interesting later. He seems to respect the MC the most along the way. Loved them more in the first s*x scene in the extras. Also, his discussions or talks with MC were so heartwarming. He is also the husband husband. I ALSO noticed the MC seems to treat him calmly the most. And he had a scar that was quite realistic given his occupation. I felt hurt like MC when I read that part. Also loved how he didn’t make it his whole personality and keep guilt-tripping MC about it. Okay, that’s all!

[collapse]

The MC was quite persevering and believe me he tried but if I had 3 people like them, I would
Spoiler

run away too. Mans didn’t even care and left their son to them...😂😂😂😂😂

As many other reviewers said it is "good" enough novel that can "attach " reader to it immediately.

But since everyone already pointed out the good sides and plot in general. I'll point out why I wasn't satisfied with the story flow.

It was written good till the point of ... more>>
Spoiler

MC met his brother after so many years. From the moment his past started to play flashbacks, It seemed as if MC got infected by flue and was hallucinating all the flashbacks, running away suddenly without details, drawning in water and being held captive by suddenly all three brothers sitting around him at the same time. And [

Spoiler

4p r*ape scene was also soo unnatural as if he still was imagining them r*ping him all together at ones. And fast skip doctor announcing MC s pregnancy as he mentioned with 2 months date which is probably what happened to him at this point 2 months ago after his capture. And immediately the narration changed to MC giving birth

[collapse]

At this point I couldn't quite believe uf I read accurately; was everything actually real. Everything was so rushed and author seemed wanted to finish story as soon as possible and with a happy ending with that. But how to be happy after what MC went through.

Of course send him away. Stabilise his mentality by strolling around the country. Make him see few scary nightmares and forget his past get back to his husbands' house again. And that's it. The End.

[collapse]

    1. The after test from the ending wasn't the best. I have seen lot of worst novels so this still quite better. Also I didn't felt the same pace in extras. They seemed to fit into what author couldn't put in main story- actual HE atmosphere. So they tried to play happily living family in extras. But MC was quite different in it. So I couldn't imagine initial MC nor the one at the end of story to be the one in extras.

Before you start reading this novel, I'd advise you to read all the hashtag and trigger warning.

I think not everyone can stomach this story. I find this story very realistic with how I think ancient people would view someone who can give birth to good quality child.

Characters are beautifully written, the dephts, emotions, conflicts are chef kisses.

One of the most realistic story I've ever read, very interesting read

I gave up sleep and the gym to finish reading this...

This was so emotionally charged and truly heartbreaking.

There is so much angst, anger, sadness, hatred, bitterness, betrayal, and tragedy packed into these 70 chapters. Every character in this novel faces their share of misfortunes, especially the Kaos.

... more>> What I appreciated most about this novel is that the explicit scenes did not overshadow the plot or the MCs and SCs. There were some explicit scenes that I chose to skip or skim over because they were a bit much for me.

The only disappointment I have, is not seeing more happy times with Master Shen and his husbands. However, I'll accept the little shown in the extras. Knowing that he is much happier and freer than he has ever been, and that his husbands will love him endlessly into the next lifetime, makes me happy. Because he deserves all the happiness.

I certainly recommend reading this, but I must caution you: This is NOT a simple smut novel. It is VERY emotionally charged, and you may be affected more than you expect. <<less

I waited many years for this novel to be translated, RanforChu. This novel is very beautiful and it really paints a picture it's cruel and not for the faint hearted and I read that someone wrote that MC is "ab*sed and brainwash". MC thought he was a normal boy suddenly he had to abandon that thought. If I was MC I would probably unalive myself.

That is simple not the case. They even gave out one star, how unfair to this book. Only the girls that get it, get it and... more>> if you're not one of those girls then scram.

Once again I'm really thankful for the translator and they managed to translate beautifully. <<less

For the last several months, I was going through "lost interest in the middle of reading novel" sickness. I started this novel as simply just fun but I actually read it till end and feel like I need more. Before start reading see the tags to dont complain later. If you are looking for fluffy story only then its not for you. Its a HE.

I started reading the translation and then I was so curious and intrigued that I had to binge mtl the rest (sorry to the translator but you had to choose such an interesting story). I'm really looking forward to reading the translated version so that I can properly enjoy the story.

The MC has to marry three brothers, all with their own personalities, baggage and expectations for the marriage. There is a lot of conflict and a lot of pain and hurt. They behave like people, nobody is actually evil but... more>> they make bad decisions and do bad things. It was difficult to read at times, but it was worth it.

There is a lot of smut and I think this is the first time I feel that the smut helps to understand the different characters and reflects their respective relationships.

And I cried. <<less

Been trying to make a complain box where I can complain about anything but the website is too costly to buy.

Spoiler:

So, MC and managers = puppy love. The only realistic part of the story if, If they actually kissed (big ML had a wife and a kid and is 30 when they married. 2nd dude is a playboy so he definitely had experience. Let’s not talk about the youngest, he’s sick and weird. But MC had to be innocent? *Double standards*

But, MC has a character that makes it believable (the... more>> relationship between him and the manager).

As for the MLs and plot, it just makes me want to see the story of their son (?) -omega but a different word is used. Cause the Hong Li, who just left, saw a dragon printed sleeves (?) while leaving? And the translator said their is a story for the child (not Hong li) so I was hoping he could be featured more.

Putting 5 stars for translators. The story is on the same level of enjoyment as awkward by strong (a story where MC found love after being disregarded as a person by a pie*ce of sh*it=his ex-lovers of whatever years (MC even gave up his inheritance/family ties/stomach issues (drinking). Then after he got pass it, the new dude seemed to be cheating on him again (phone password changed/dressing up more/working overtime/no more intimacy... yeah (that cheating part was in the extra. When I was celebrating how awesome ML was for being there for MC who had no reason to live? Yeah) type of that feeling. It’s not bad, but I cried somewhere so the story is somewhere there. <<less
