After finishing this, it took me a minute to collect my thoughts.

What I’ve come up with is that, although I’m not usually a huge fan of gender swaps, this one was actually very enjoyable. I liked the fact that the author managed to keep the MC’s gender clear even when he was in the females body. It made it more believable, not to mention, I liked that the author kept the pronouns correct and only used she/her when it was in the pov of others, while in the MC’s pov... more>> it was he/him.

The second half of the novel, once he was swapped again, I did think it was pretty interesting especially the overall plot of it, but I wasn’t much of a fan of there being no explanation on why and how he was able to keep switching bodies.

Like first times a charm but second times pretty sus. Why was he able to go from body to body? Does that make him immortal, because ultimately if he died again wouldn’t he just switch bodies again? There was no where that stated the purpose for the switches was specifically due to the ML and MC’s fate towards one another. I’m very curious about that.

Anyway, aside from this, the only other real con I had about this novel was the amount of mlm couples. I love a good gay couple, but I do hate when the whole novel is filled with one straight after another “turning” gay for love. Like it’s illogical and annoying especially since it seems like most authors don’t know the term bis*xual /pans*xual and always leave it as just turning gay.

I digress, that’s a whole other subject. But I’d recommend this if you’re bored and want something angsty. There’s some decent fluff but it’s in the end so if you’re hoping for fluff please, don’t even attempt this. The author did do a great job at balancing the plot and romance tho. <<less

At first half, I kinda drag myself to finish it. But on second half, I tremendously enjoy the ride, since finally the MC can show his brilliance as a general.

ML, the emperor, may not a good person, but he's a very capable emperor. So I harbor no bad feeling towards him. Not to mention he treats MC with respect and so much love.
