I wanted to like this novel. I really did. The concept of a world under attack by demons, the main character seemed strong and confident, the female character he brought home was a cute elemental, I would have been ready to give it a 5/5 if it continued like that.

Unfortunately, MC couldn't decide if he was cool, a pe*vert, or just ret*rded - his reaction to a direct confession from the girl he likes is "Nah, there's no way she likes me". And that's his reaction to every female character,... more>> since they all fall in love with him. Even then, he's lecherous, but unable to do anything. It's like the author wanted to write p*rn but was a virg*n so he couldn't figure out what would happen.

This would be easily forgivable if the main focus of the story was on the killing demons, but no, the main focus is on the main character meeting new women to add to his harem while he stares at their b**bs and refuses to notice that they're in love with him.

So I guess if you like the cliche parts of japanese harem slice-of-life novels, this is for you. <<less

After reading so much so called cunning MC who in fact just a blood thirsty idiot, this series came at a refreshing feeling. The MC is so dense, but has a kind and just personality. Definitely worth read for the feeling involved, not the plot.

After few chapter, there are usually side chapters that tell the story from different perspective, but it didn't came out as boring or repetitive filler. It's fresh and opened our understanding of that character feeling. Not like the one from tilea's worries.

TLDR:even though it's has harem... more>> kinda development, it gave you warm and fuzzy feeling and not usual disgust seeing the MC conquered woman like some sort of trophy to be wed (*cough ATG cough*). <<less

Overbearingly tsundere harem members (who treat the MC with disdain only to be eternally forgiven) and an "always nice" MC makes for a pretty cookie cutter, mediocre novel.

A friendship story with more then ordinary plot. It's not OP MC becoming more OP, instead it's about not so ordinary guy with a power which might kill him in the end. Who knows this might end up as a tragedy but for now it feels like more of light hearted mystery that is gradually unraveling a plot.

3/5. Should be 2.5, but.50 is always rounded up upwards, so there you have it.

I have mixed feelings about this one. If I were to sum it up with one sentence, it isn't as bad as it first seems, but it also doesn't work hard to get gud.

Synopsis and other reviews should've already mentioned the plot, so I'll just limit myself to saying that it's basically a Chinese novel written like a Japanese would (but obviously with Chinese flavor, you know, face slapping and the like). It's basically a beta... more>> male + harem + fantasy elements story. Oh, I suppose I could mention transmigration here too.

In general, the protagonist is so dense that it's funny. Yes, just funny. At first you get annoyed with him, but if you endure it for 2-3 volumes, you just laugh at the ret*rd. Well, at some point the narration alluded to some past events that made him subconsciously reject all possibilities that someone may like him, etc., but he's still so very dense he should be capable of using black hole attacks. The explanation doesn't fully cover this, so the protagonist isn't really excused all that much.

Other than that, the protagonist is okay at first glance, but annoying in the long run. He's a goody-two-shoes, and it's especially annoying when he interacts with some female characters: they're gonna act like a stuck-up b*tch, and he's going to laugh foolishly and let them step all over him or something. There's literally only one chick that's excused for acting like this because she's mental (literally, schizophrenia and more), but the rest is just annoying together with the even more annoying protagonist.

To make matters worse, I heard that

the protagonist is gonna have a giant harem, and all those b*tches are going to be in it...

I also can't quite remember the main character having any distinct, personal goal. I think he mostly has his goals forced on him by circumstances, or he's running around doing stuff for the female characters.

Anyway, speaking of female characters, some of them are bearable, and many are annoying, but in general they're all 2D characters. Only those that live together with the protagonist have some more personality to them, but it's ain't much, either. Female characters make up for their quality with their numbers in this novel, that's the sad truth.

As for other characters, I guess only the two dragons are notable in the volumes I read. The others are kind of there, but I don't really care about them even if they have some unique characteristics (which they sometimes tend to have - one or two...). The dragons are the only ones reasonably interesting, but in the end they're just ring grandpas. Hmm, now that I think about it, there was one friend early on and another spirit friend later on that are kind of notable. Kind of.

Plot isn't too interesting. The premise has potential, and kind of is interesting, but it also is very cliché. The plot progression is kind of okayish, but the character growth is way too slow, and so is the growth of relationship. The protagonist doesn't continue to be as dense, at least in regards to some female characters, but he doesn't really do anything about what he notices even if he does, so it's meaningless imo.

Hmm, the way spirits are introduced is interesting, and the events related to them are often interesting as well. However, there are loads of cliché arcs and events, and I can't say I'm enjoying everything. In fact, this is one of the whys behind my decision to stop reading, and something that contributes to my grade.

A big gripe I have is regarding the protagonist's strength. He isn't really strong. No, the problem is that he's weak, but barely manages to become strong by using some margin abilities from the dragons. Because that isn't enough, those abilities are nerfed, and the energy they use comes from the dragon (so he himself can't produce it... and runs out of it from time to time). To add something quite spoilerish...

Basically, the guy MC transmigrates into, who is sort of like parallel world version of himself irrc, had his power sealed in him by his parents, who didn't want him to get drunk on his power (gg ret*rds, MC was bullied hard af so he could've gone to the other end of the spectrum, and become a sociopathic, psychopathic, revenge-seeking twat like those who shoot up schools in the US). But, we've got a problem even after MC replaced him: something got focked up, and the sealed power disappeared. This makes the protagonist even weaker, and he can't quite grow in strength, where it reaches the point where I'm wondering why the author even bothers writing a power fantasy story. Anyway, it's s*upid and feels even worse the more you read and learn.

What else to add? Chinese tropes like arrogant young masters and stuff, maybe? They are there, yes, but it's okay because they're Japanese lol. That's the vibe I low-key get from the author. Anyway, we have other tropes too, but nothing I want to mention in particular.

So overall, it's a kind of better, Chinese Japanese harem novel with dense protagonist. Better because Japanese harem novels with dense protagonist suck big time usually. While it's not garbage, I can't really recommend it. You can read it if you have nothing to read and want to kill some time, I guess. <<less

I honestly came looking for this story again after so long after watching Oresuki (anime) because I saw some similarities. I read this long ago when Alyschu translated it in Moonbunnycafe. It was saddening when this story stopped being translated, so I was happy to discover today that someone is continuing it. Therefore this comment is based on prior memories up to Volume 4 from what I remember.

I really love these types of stories where the main character and the other characters interactions are full of misunderstandings. By this I... more>> mean: the characters never seem to be on the same page/line of thought. For me, this makes reading this story very enjoyable. I also like the MC because despite him being strong, he is very pure, and altruistic in everything that he does. Unlike the common Chinese web-novel MC, he is very polite, and does not have the typical overbearing/self-confident/self-righteous demeanor, rather he's more like a JP LN protagonist. Closet pe*vert, very reserved, but at the same time rather dense. He draws in other characters with his kindness, and willingness to help. Another aspect of the story that I enjoy is the POV switch every now and then that dives more into the actions of the other characters.

Although it can be a bit too much at times (too s*upid: like the MC really believing he is the good sister of his female friend, just because she calls him 'good sister.' When in reality, she wants to get closer to him because she likes him), I prefer it to the former. Actually, this does seem rather cliche in anime where the character is in denial that this or that person likes him, and it can be frustrating when the signs are so obvious, but at the same time for me, thats an aspect that I enjoy all the same.

The quality of the translation itself, is also great. I always find it off putting when the translation has basic grammatical mistakes, and/or similar to a google translate but this story does not have this problem. In addition, I enjoy the plot of contracting to spirits to fight, similar to other works like 108 maidens of destiny, Sekirei, and the like. Therefore, for others that enjoy something similar, I recommend this novel~ <<less

The story is okay and the character interaction is pretty typical of a friendly Japanese good guy main character that is dense.

He does not really power up through his own means at the moment all he has so far is two dragon sprits in him that lets him use scared flames from the light dragon, this burns his soul so he is killing himself, and he also befriended a King class spirit, top level for spirits under special class, while being the lowest spirit power which means he was not actually suppose to have such a powerful spirit. He is the lowest in existence before the MC takes over the body in this world and because he also comes from another world so it kinda hints the MC gonna be looked down upon for a while

I recommend this if you like Japanese novels in general but a fair warning that the MC is dense and he does not really power up as of Volume 2 chapter 12 that I have read up to so far I might come back and edit this post once it reaches the end of Volume 3. <<less

Dense. This man is DENSE. His EQ is in the negatives. Thats the first thing you really have to get from this novel.

Now that that is out of the way I can safely say this 831 chapter ongoing webnovel is a gem that most people will skip. Since our narrator is a titanium brick you end having to infer a lot of information ; It dribbles and drabbles out, teased and hinted by the quips, thoughts, and conversations floating through our unreliable narrator's head.

The premise is Lin Xiao saves... more>> a kid from being hit by a truck and gets thrown into the ocean while in the ocean he gets hit by the passing dragons gods Freed and Yalide. They merge and now live all in the same body in a parallel world. Our super dense Lin Xiao with a new personality, new hitchikers to talk to, and new views makes for a hilariously charming harem protagonist as he navigates this amazingly developed parallel world. The world building really what keeps you hooked with this novel. Its a world that merges a human world where...

-modern has magic is common and accepted in its uses.

-A magic school as normal high school where people train to be battle magicians and battle technicians.

-A demon (underworld) world with its own culture and races temples and land masses and spirits that come and go from the human world.

-A unexplored heaven with various angels? or goddess that can give power.

-A back story that leaves you begging for more details but also makes sense logical to the situation at hand.

And an even lower demon realm that is currently cause all the problems that Lin Xiao is bumbling around and somehow solving without even really trying sometimes. While he's bumbling around he picks up girls. But since he's a brick lots of times he has pure intentions and they just follow him anyway slowing trying to chip away to make the solid brick a little less dense.

The interactions between Freed, Yalide, and LinXiao are always hilarious or interspaced with useful information. Especially since lots of times the info dumps are used to comedic effect. Like reminding him he better stop talking to the dragon gods in his head and move, since you've been staring at a girls b**bs for 3 minutes strait.

Sometimes the story can get caught up in the highschool drama portion that seem annoying but the pacing is actually quite well done. Quickly running through scenes and interactions that flow marginally well in that they as you follow Lin Xiao through out his day. From managing a home with spirit girls. To school with block head jealous boys, ridiculous teachers, and friendly principles (and more girls) To a taking care of some kidnappers at the bank (to save a girl). To jumping through a rift to pop down to the demon world (where he runs into more girls). To a crazy fight with a demon or two and back again for dinner (with the spirit girls).

I don't usually do harem novels but I make an exception for this one. <<less

The writing quality in this novel is below par in what you would find in most novels. The novel sounds like it was written by a 9-year-old with no prior writing experience (ex. They hit me, kick me, and said that my parents did not like me. I was very sad and hurt but nobody helped me. From chapter 1). The plot is pretty generic from what I can tell making there not really be a reason to read the novel as opposed to other better-written n0vels. It also doesn't... more>> help that the MC is a massive virg*n and most of the characters don't seem like real characters. Honestly, it is extremely generous to give it 3 stars. As for how to improve, I think the author or translator should have written it in the 3rd person instead of the 1st person. The reason being how much easier it is to write in 3rd person and how much easier it is to include descriptions. The only point for 1st person that is better than 3rd person is the fight scenes, yet from what I have seen, the fight scenes are mediocre. Honestly, if the writing is improved, I will change my review, but until then, this book has an extremely generic plot with bad writing and is not worth reading. <<less

Stereotypical dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to women MC. I've seen worse so that doesn't bother me, and there's hints that he was wounded by a girl in his past which causes him to be that way. The dragons giving him hell about it helps too.

I actually enjoyed reading this for awhile but finally just got sick of it. The sheer overuse of the hitting on girls that aren't interested by guy who is c*cky trope is beyond s*upid. When everyone is a scumbag it... more>> gets boring.

Also now he's barely trying to hide that he's strong, is getting c*cky, and every new girl joins the harem within a few chapters, most of the interesting bits are gone. <<less

Slow, could be better, MC is an absolute f*cking ret*rd (who the f*ck does not know what teenage girls "sell" in alleyways for hundred of thousandss of dollars/yen? This MC, that's who.)

While MC is dense, and his harem is amusingly expanding without him realizing it, it's still amusing enough to be enjoyable. But not superbly enjoyable, just funny to read.

Not bad, translation is good and story isn't incredibly bad so 4/5 or closer to 3.5/5. Could be better, but could be worse as well.

Having read the first two volumes, I will say the story's not bad, the set up's the cliche Truck-kun taking the MC to another world, in this version he ends in the body of a parallel him, weak and nerdy, bullied and dense. But not all hope is lost, in his body he carries the two Dragon Gods, who died thousands of years ago and now are attached to his soul. Both bring quite the humor and act as a voice of guidance to the MC.

About the Dragons:

both are pretty funny and quite the pair of pe*verts, love to fight with each other at any little grievance too, they usually speak with the MC through dreams and in his mind, but it never happens in an instant and the MC ends looking into the distance (or chests) meanwhile.

The MC's the cliche Japanese Harem main character, dense, hard working, no adult figure around, weak at the start and naive. Even if he's dense, I gotta say I'm not as mad as other novels/stories I have read, a lot of the times people aren't straightforward with him, but he's more often than not, asking to clear things up.
About his weakness

It's explained that his weakness is mostly from not being trained since young, so he can't use magic without the massive force in his body making all spells go berserk, luckily for him, the two dragons appear to have a way to fix it (or so they say)

In all it's not a bad novel, just another Harem, Comedy, Action, Dense Protagonist, Japanese-like story, not bad to read if you like it.
