some of the melodrama elements here are crazy; it's so bad at times that I actually looked at the original site to see if it was labeled satire or comedy but no, it's drama. so... it's so bad it's funny sometimes?

the characters are mostly 2D, more a walking set of prescribed attributes and stereotypes than actual people, (even the MC/ML to some degree), and the villains are mostly cardboard caricatures of the arrogant, prideful, and idiotic cannon fodder variety.

as for the story itself:

rebirth is a great cheat trope when done right but it's not much of a cheat if everyone except the dog goes through it. having one or two is fine if handled right, but all the extra rebirths here just clutter up an already messy story.

there is a HUGE overuse of social media and public opinion in this, which makes me think the author is probably college aged or younger. it's use is understandable in entertainment stories because East Asian fans seem to have more control over their celebrities, but it doesn't make sense in this story because the MC isn't a celebrity.

somehow the author overlooked that fact.

business wars and old-money, high ranked families fighting online like a bunch of fresh meat 18 line actors becomes ridiculous after a while; the two sides might as well devolve into hair pull and name calling out in the middle of a busy street, ffs. I thought it would happen once or twice at most but no, it happens more in this shorter story than it does in any of the entertainment focused stories that I've read (and I've read a LOT both here and at jjwxc) !

and while the MC does face-slap, for most of the story it's reactive, meaning the other side does something first (mostly online) and the MC whitewashes himself and makes them look like an idiot. the same bad guys come back in a couple of chapters and do it all over again. and again. and again....

I threw up my hands and said "oh, for f*cks sake! seriously?!" several times while trying to read this.

in the middle, the author threw one problem after the other without pause; sometimes one problem hadn't been resolved yet and we were being introduced to the six new ones so the middle of the story was a big pile of cluttered and tangled plot points. I wont even go into the misunderstandings between the MC/ML that the author tossed in on top of an already overloaded and increasingly messy story.

and yes, some problems and plots lines were resolved later (some were lost), and yes, it's HE for the MC/ML. Sadly, I didn't care one way other by then.

Even the white lotus character deserved better. He’s immediately part of a mu*der plot & exposed for sleeping with MC’s bf in the first chapters. That’s not how it’s supposed to go.

Husband/father relies on inheritance they don’t get, wants to introduce white lotus during party that disrespects MC, MCs cheating partner is revealed by person in circle who hates them & is being played by them (I know this isn’t necessarily unique but the dialogue and the way it was set up was so identical I called this character by the other ones name), fledgling skincare company is left to MC who has unique mystical powers that create one of a kind products! So dumb in a regular modern novel
