Nie Jia lived his life with kindness and respect, yet all his actions were paid back with the cold grey walls of prison. Inside the bars, he vowed that if he ever had another life, he would be a complete villain! Beast! Scoundrel!

One day, he actually transmigrated.

System: As a villain, you have to be courageous enough to burden the task of initiating trouble, destroying the world and creating chaos. It’s an incredible responsibility, do you understand?

Nie Jia: I understand. I’ll definitely use everything I have to complete the mission tasks so everyone will die!

System: No, no….you’re the only one who will die.

Since then, Nie Jia rode away upon the road of a great villain, but every time he went close to destroying the world and completing his goal, he was always defeated by this thing called “The Protagonist’s Halo”.

Nie Jia (#‵′) : The Protagonist is a cheater, I refuse to accept this!

Until his system was actually hacked by someone….

The title really suits the novel. More on face slapping scenes. It's quite entertaining since the MC and ML are not annoying instead the villains are. Also, the characters (villain and side chara) are portrayed to be alive and capable of thinking (not 2d), despite being a data. The stories are mostly about ML appeasing MC from mc's rage (killer maniac). My rating is around 4.4, rounded it up to 5

MC's life was divulged in the first 5 chapters. A military doctor in an interstellar world. He was framed by... more>> his relative (disclosed on the last chapter) and by the prosecutors. In order to alter his psychology into a killer (to have an evidence for prosecution), he was locked and his psyche was sent to different made-up world as a villain to do inhuman things without his control (like FoD), making the MC short tempered, schizophrenic, and homicidal. Fortunately, the ML hacked that system so that the MC could have a freedom. And that's the start of the world data hopping, For MC to fulfill the villain's wish to offset the value of the accumulated criminal personality. In Arc 3, MC' is a little different (his killer psyche is magnified. And the latter arcs are about MC trying to control his homicidal tendency. Kudos for the author for the change of pace.

Spoiler

In arc3, it is heart wrenching for the ML to see that the MC change and kill, (and became apathetic to life since MC got a mental disorder). He really is a villain there so times

I guess the downside is the dog blood drama and the last 2 chapters of the last data-arc. The MC is a unreasonable killing everything just to end the data world, he should have listened to data-world MC. Well, probably, it is reasonable for a mentally disordered MC.

It is a good read QT, with a lot of fluffy moments. The plot is quite good and it can really hook you up to anticipate the next chapters. There are also a lot of face slapping here. The downside is that the ending is quite abrupt, it would be nice if there are extras after they came back to their real world. Also, the arcs are quite long but it is not the dragging type. Overall its a good read.

About MC

MC has a bipolar disorder caused by... more>> the world he experienced. He is your typical OP character with a tiny bit of sadistic strike. He is very clingy with ML and very indifferent to everyone. His 3 views are kind of crook but it's okay, ML is there to save the day.

About ML

ML is your typical OP wife s*ave. He is the last pillar of MC and the bottom line that can never be touched even a bit. He is really good to MC since he indulge MC to everything even though he knows it is wrong yet he accept it since he knows that MC can never stand his rejection.

About villians

Some have depth, others don't. The face slapping is quite fulfilling.

About the arcs

As I said they are really long.

Arc1

Spoiler

MC is a neurosurgeon while ML is a big company president. It's nice to see the process where MC starts to accept the ML slowly. The face slapping is quite nice where after everything the antagonist are left with nothing.

[collapse]

Arc 2

Spoiler

this is my fave arc.

    • Singer MC
      big company president
    • White lotus idol
      white eyed wolf younger brother/idol

It's quite a nice read where the antagonist actually have a rollercoaster of emotions. First he hates MC, the he feels guilty to the MC eventually acquiting himself and feel his superiority until he becomes helpless. Their logic is also kind of lost but that's fine since it adds to the fun.

[collapse]

Arc 3

Spoiler

emperor MC

shadow guard commander ML. There are a lot of killings here and also shows the manliness of MC hahaha

[collapse]

Arc 4

Spoiler

genius screenwriter MC

war monopoly businessman ML. The antagonist is a scum man, your typical scum man.

[collapse]

Arc 5

Spoiler

killing machine MC

commander general ML. Ugghh the most crooked arc of them all. Blood bath everywhere. Btw, this is the arc where MC lost himself since ML died infront of him.

[collapse]

Arc 6

Spoiler

they returned to reality and the antagonist is very easily solved hahaha.

So much plot. ML trying his best to save MC and MC finding his courage to truly pursue ML after what he went through.

Any who, love the progress. MC need big hugs and cuddles.

What an interesting story! It manages to be both very engaging (I found myself quite invested in knowing what happened in each arc) and yet off-putting. The author wrote perhaps one of the most pessimistic, immoral, nihilistic love stories I've ever read. The philosophy of the people in it reminded me a bit of the selfishness and "kill-the-world" mentality of The Three Body Problem. It's like a messed up version of Born To Be Rebellious.

I get the feeling that the author feels like they've been wronged at some point in... more>> their life. Starting in the 3rd arc, the author very accurately captures some of the helpless fury I remember feeling when I was trapped in an awful job where I was overworked, underappreciated, and inadequately trained but expected to perform like a seasoned employee. At that point in time, I remember feeling so wronged, needing the support of my partner to pull me up from the misery and remind me of my worth. The frustration bled into everything, not just work - I remember feeling like the world owed me something. This is what the MC is feeling, being forced to act a villain until he actually becomes one. Learning to treat the fictional characters without compassion until it becomes his actual nature. This progression, and the books depressing acceptance of it, is honestly a bit startling. I'm used to books that will imagine a light at the end of the tunnel of misery, or whisper some message of hope for people who feel the same way. I'm used to books that show us the idealized way of dealing with the injustice in the world because the reality can sometimes feel so disheartening. I feel like we need those books to remind us of the beautiful possibilities when we are often faced with the ugly reality. I'm not sure I need the message in this book, which focuses on how unconditional love can drive people to act better and constrain our destructive impulses, but only if the love accepts these impulses to begin with.

Another interesting point that this novel makes is that there is no real "right" or "wrong", just different perspectives and interests. I agree with this to some extent - if something seems unarguable, it's probably just because the argument has been silenced or strawman'ed. However, the way this story drives home that point is so depressing. I end up feeling very bad for the protagonists and the passerby's in this story. They haven't done anything inexcusable, they're honestly sometimes behaving more sensibly than the MC, but they are going to be crushed because they're opposite the mc's mission.

I found myself wanting to know more about the binding love between the MC and ml. There's no resolution or real insight into why the ML so faithfully defends the MC and loves the MC despite him developing a completely different personality. They have a childhood crush, which I find to be the most illogical kind of love. Especially if the two people haven't even been around each other for over a decade. That kind of love feels more like a lovely dream than actually love.

All morals aside, I think the ending was very abrupt, confusing, and disappointing in terms of the world building. Perhaps the author also couldn't wait to see the end of the world they built. <<less

I MTL the first arc. I love it so far.

The MC is very smart, cool and collected. The ML is loving, respectful and supportive, but not possessive. I like this ML so far, he is strong and dominating but only to his enemies. He is pretty normal to the other characters, which as we know in most QT the ML is only nice to the MC and is dominating to everyone else. But he pretty much behaves like a regular person unless you are an enemy.

The counterattack/ face slapping is... more>> pretty satisfying so far =) Nothing more than what the bad guys deserves.

There is Sugar and dog food! The overall background is set pretty early. The MC and ML lives in a interstellar world. MC was framed and was locked in a virtual world to collect his criminal data (force him to commit crimes in the virtual world). The ML hacks the system and free him from the system and lets him continue to transmigrate to make up for those villain points so that when he gets back he can be released. (ML is trying to save him)

Edit/

I finished MTL-ing the book. Its a bit short, I wish there was at least 3-5 more arcs.. I enjoyed all the worlds, the real world arc was not as good as the other arcs tho, but that's pretty typical of quick transmigrations.

4.6/5 for all the worlds, 4.3/5 overall cause the end arc was not interesting. (It's a happy ending) <<less

Loving the story and plot so far but the translator's/s' (Hollywood Novels) doing a poor job with the names. Specially in the 2nd arc where the names of the characters are switched and I need to think hard of who they were talking about. The MLs name gets changed to the scumbag sometimes and other issues.

But other than that I really love the story, typical quickwear novel but I'm hooked. The condition of the MC is reasonable and erupts rationally in the story while the love at first sight character... more>> of the ML is reasonable too considering their background in the real world. <<less

This hit me in all the feels. Its the first QT I've read that did such a wonderful job of portraying the MC's pain and confusion. Our MC had been tortured and destroyed in his original life. His quick transmigrations were meant as punishment for a crime he had never committed. He lost who he was as a result and was filled with shame and hate for the person he became. He never thought that our ML could love who he has become because he doesn't love himself.

And our ML.... more>> I don't know where to start. He's like a warm blanket that keeps you warm during the coldest winter. He was everything to our MC. He broke in to save our MC from the outside world and ended up saving the MC from himself. There are no words to describe this. I hope it gets translated so that I can read it in English. Although the MTL wasn't bad, I doubt it did justice to the authors words. <<less

The story starts off good, but really drags towards the end.

Hollywood translations tried, but man, sometimes it was unreadable. The characters names get switched around, the genders-lots of ‘she/he’ get put in the wrong place.

The ending... was really rushed. Like there were so many loose ends, the author tried to wrap it all up, but failed miserably. Like the full showdown with the last villain ended within 2 chapters, but just more questions than answers.

MC: Nie Jia

ML: Shi Chen

This is a Quick Transmigration, Yaoi, Romance, Psychological, Action novel.

... more>> MC has a mental disorder due to being forced to do villainous things by the system to increase his Criminal Personality. ML, MC's crush from real world hacks the system and starts transmigrating to 'heal' MC.

MC was a military doctor before he was wrongly accused. He is broken from inside and hates and is disgusted of himself after these villainous Stimulation Transmigration.

ML is a GREEN FLAG. He supports and loves MC unconditionally. He indulges into and dotes on MC.

ARCS
Spoiler
    • Noble Stepson
    • I'll Tell You Who's the Boss
    • The Protagonist Must Die
    • Love is a Green Light
    • Hunt down the World
[collapse]

This story revolves around MC & ML more rather than around face-slapping or being at the top if the world. It has characters and villains who has character depth rather than just being 2D.

Even though ML tries very much but he isn't able to improve MC's mental state much. And in the end MC ends up filling up the criminal personality %.

I'm a bit dissatisfied with the ending. I think that the Reunion, Heart-to-heart Explanation and Apology were just so-so and not satisfactory.

Reason for Transmigration

Spoiler

MC's mother was from a clan who can have special power in eyes when its awaken. And the trigger for awakening it was pain so MC, who had been transplanted with his mother's eyes, was forced into stimulation transmigration to awaken the power of those eyes.

[collapse]

And I just want to say that even though psychological aspect of MC was handled quite Okay in this novel. But one thing shown was ABSOLUTELY WRONG.
Spoiler

Remember in Arc 2 where ML takes the scribbled music sheet of MC to his Psychiatrist friend and asks about his opinion and the friend just looks at it and immediately diagnosis MC as a Bipolar! Like without a comprehensive assessment like doing test and studying case history, etc., just how did he come to that decisive conclusion with just one look at a scribbled sheet! And informed the family of patient so decisively without even meeting the concerned patient.

And what treatment plan did he provide? Just stay with him and make him feel needed?! Dude there are so many effective treatment plans for bipolar disorder like CBT, IPSRT, etc., at least tell him about some breathing exercises, mindfulness or meditation techniques that don't even need the presence of a psychologist or psychiatrist.

To be honest, this novel isn't as lighthearted as the synopsis indicated.
Spoiler

Throughout the whole novel is basically the MC's struggle between who he was before and who he has become. He hated the self that was cruel and heartless, unlike the simple and kindhearted self he had been. This causes him to sometimes become insecure about the ML's love for him (MC). To me, the whole novel feels fraught with tension, worrying when the MC will snap and become the person the villains in the real world wanted him to be. The ending was pretty abrupt but it was HE and it was also an end to the tension of whether the MC could accept himself and trust the ML's love for him.

This one was more a 4.5 than a straight 5, more for the rushed ending than anything else. I very much enjoy stories that are anti-story protagonists or show you that the shi*te MC and ML’s get up to during the entirety of a story are questionable because real life is a grey area rather than black and white. I enjoy the stories that have you look at something another way rather than just accept what is readily given to you. I am not a Mary/Marty Sue fan, in fact... more>> those types of stories disgust me. I am of the opinion that this one did a very good job of bringing up the questions of what is perceived as good and bad...

On the other side the author did a great job of the physicality of the MC’s vulnerabilities, the progressive shift from when he had had trauma and was left alone. The ML’s situation was weird, but I did enjoy how no matter what they saw and recognized each other right away - then slid right back into being ‘together’. That ending though... But the author does give a reason and I can very much understand if the story itself was exhausting to write. <<less

Decent face slapping, characters, plots, some arcs I like some arcs I don't, decent pace and isn't draggy. Would rate 4.7 stars at best. I am a bit biased against this novel and MC.

unsatisfying ending that leaves us with questions unanswered and plot holes to fall into.

The author is eloquent when discussing issues about politics and morality, specially the last world. The plot of every world is full, though the original world plot seemed to be a dumped of information, you will understand it. There is logic. It's hard to understand the character of ML sometimes. And also sometimes, I feel ML I don't feel the presence of the ML but it was understandable because at first the ML doesn't have his memory abd treat every world as real world plus it maybe because it is... more>> MTL. And maybe because I MTLed it, I got bored sometimes, not because it was bad, but the people's outlook, their descisions, their characters was realistically portrayed according to the background of every world. At least, I think so, haha. I appreciate the MC's character stick to his character, and didn't suddenly have compassion for people, his thoughts and character changed logically according to the events. Although the end is not dramatic and did not put a mark on me, but I feel there is no more suitable than this ending as it put my restless heart onto peace because I know MC have ML on his life, MC will now have a home. <<less

I'm not going to give a definite rating right now since I've MTL'd almost the whole novel. But my approximate score would be 4.5. The fact that most of the reviews here have a "completed" tag, despite not having enough translated chapters, shows how addictive this novel is. The MTL is also easy enough to understand the gist of the story. However, the translations are good. So, I hope it will be continued.

This novel follows the same trope as many typical QT novels. The arcs are interesting. I felt that... more>> the arcs were stretched longer than necessary, although that doesn't necessarily make the arcs boring. The MC has a chaotic personality
Spoiler

(it was translated as bipolar disorder, but I'm not very well-informed about it, so I'm not sure how accurate the depiction is.)

[collapse]
His personality plays an important role in the arcs as well as the main plot. The ending and the plot of the real world seemed a little bit like a dog-blood drama, but I liked it.

The romance is interesting in some arcs, but fairly unrealistic in some others. (I guess love-at-first-sight is a thing in QT novels, so I'm not complaining much)

Spoiler

The ML is the same in all arcs and he and the MC have actually liked each other since their teenage years, but never got to express their feelings. There is a huge conspiracy going on in their real world surrounding the MC and his origin. The ML is powerful in the virtual worlds as well as the real world.

[collapse]

The ML is very sweet to the MC and he is not the dominating CEO type but rather the doting CEO type. I like how he always seems very understanding of the MC's mental health problems and tries to solve it by staying with him.

The only thing that disappointed me was the ending, which seemed quite anticlimactic. And I was expecting some extra chapters where we get to see the MC & ML being lovey-dovey in the real world, but there aren't any! 😢😢😢 <<less

I love this. The MC is pretty unique compared to other MC's in the QT business. He is on the borderline of mentally insane and is pretty psychotic and violent.

The arcs are very long and intricate, each one feeling like their own individual novel. And there's face slapping. Plenty of face slapping.

Gave it a 4... because of the abrupt ending

Aside from that it was really good

Both of the ML and the MC were really interesting

Each and every story was equally interesting

Unlike many where you get bored at some point this isn't the case here... you actually look forward to transmigration and beating of the "protagonists"

Give it a try

It was no regret...

Very close to dropping it. In the end I skipped just the last arc and went straight to the finish.

I found this kind of boring and melodramatic but not exciting at all. I didn't like the characters in particular. Their relationship felt random and so was the plot. The world hopping felt pointless. Ending felt rushed but as if it had nothing to do with the story I read. Just not impressed.

The constant errors with names and genders also made the experience even more tedious. I feel this was a... more>> waste of time. Im generous giving it a 3. VERY generous <<less

Over all an alright read. The translation is really chunky at times and names and gender gets messed up but it's not terrible.

I did enjoy the first few arcs, even though I must agree with other reviewers, it is a bit bland, but I like not too deep plot and a healthy amount of face slapping in between my more emotional reads.

The last arc though was really rough to get through. It was very long winded, the sudden need to involve side characters and have them be a major part... more>> of the plot was slightly jarring after like five arcs of basically 2D side characters.

Spoiler

I did enjoy the friendship between the protagonist and Nie Jia but all the involvement of like An Yuan or that little girl just felt a bit much. Especially towards the end before Shi Chen died I contemplated dropping it several times.

[collapse]

Though the most disappointing part must've been the last few chapters. It was an interesting twist but incredibly rushed, made no sense at some point and honestly just gave me whiplash. It felt like the author was just as done with the novel as I was and had to finish include some bullet points in like the last 4 chapters that were supposed to explain the whole background.

Personally I feel like the real world would've deserved its own arc or at least half an arc and left me more confused then before reading it because somehow the supposed real world characters felt more 2D than the fictional string of codes in the arcs themselves.

To conclude, it wasn't the worst I've read but certainly not the best. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, I definitely won't reread it but some people might enjoy the first few arcs, like I did. <<less

Arcs 1 and 2 are actually quite poorly written, especially arc 1. There are too many things that are illogical but made to seem logical. I wanted to drop it but forced myself to continue because it would be a shame to stop in the middle.

At the beginning of the story, the writing was not good because it didn't explore enough, it was too focused on the final goal, and felt like reading a summary of a novel. But towards the end the writing style gets better.

Translations are sometimes... more>> easy to read, sometimes difficult. For example, there are several paragraphs that are repeated, making it confusing, or name errors that often occur. But at least it's still readable <<less
