LOVED IT SO MUCH😭😭😭

if you're like me who loves slow paced novel but still an interesting story (kind off like slices of life-ish in anime) with just the right emotional moments then this novel for you as well! (If you like Kino's Journey then this is absolutely for youuuu!) While I was reading, it felt like I was watching a National Geographic Video narrating Yu Qingxian's daily life, It was fun imagining that!

The translation is okay! There were just a few edits needed to be made pronouns but it's nice... more>> and pleasant to read over all.

Spoiler

The ending is perfect! Knowing that our little zombie keeps on traveling as she wants warms me, and I was kind of worried about Ye but reading Ye and Xingyu playing games made me happy ^°^

I like the female lead in this novel; she's not overly kind but not a cold-blooded person either. The lead also doesn't care about being a powerful person so this novel is usually her just going to scenic spots and meeting new people and zombies. She has had many opportunities to upgrade but each time has shot it down; this was quite a breath of fresh air.

Thanks to the translator for introducing this novel.

I have bittersweet feelings after finishing the story. I enjoyed it but at the same time the "differentness" of this story kinda unnerves me. Imagine a slice of life story in the apocalypse setting. A bit odd but makes sense with the personality of the MC.

9/10 for me, but might not be for everyone. Bonus points for no romance.

No romance and it didn't need it. I have laughed, I have cried, this is a good novel. Anti-social girl willingly becomes a Zombie and tours China with her suitcase and camera. Taking pictures of all the neat things she finds. Truly belongs in the Reread pile for sure.

There is no romance at all and I'm not a bit disappointed. I really enjoyed reading this novel and every chapter hooked me until the very end. I don't know but is it just me? Since the MC doesn't have much emotion about many things, I didn't really feel, I'm talking about emotions, much about this novel but it is one of my favorites now. It's a chill read, well, there is a constant mention of death, but it's nothing much really.

This was the most relaxing post-apocalyptic zombie novel I've ever read. FL was a social shut-in, but after becoming a zombie during the apocalypse she decided to finally go out and travel around. She retains her consciousness/personality, doesn't need to eat, and quietly helps out humans and tames zombies during her travels.

Spoiler

Pros:

  • loved, loved, loved the giant mutant dog
  • enjoyed the other character's rebirth/transmigration/system tropes
  • FL stayed in character and was always humane, even if indifferent
  • taking photos and videos of the zombie/weather apocalypse and sharing with friends

Cons:

  • late-novel suggestions that China was a victim of foreign countries incubating and distributing the zombie virus into China, then sending foreign zombies into China, and finally obstructing China from forming international alliances to deal with the zombies (so China could only deal with its zombies domestically)
  • no explanation for why the FL zombie's combative power kept going down, even when other eventual energy-eating zombies (like her friend Zombie King) remained super strong
  • would have liked a more uplifting/glorious ending for our wonderful FL zombie, but I guess the quietly happy ending was more true to her personality

A breath of fresh air.

Though, the MTL could do some work. It gets a bit confusing at times. Thanks for the translation, regardless.

A female lead novel without romance? Thank you.

This was a bit of a gem. While it's more casual than your typical zombie apocalypse, it also portrays the mc's feelings and state of mind really well; she is clearly neurodivergent but it's not in your face. It just explains a lot.

I admire how the author wrote about MC dealing with the loss of her parents 3 years prior;

Spoiler

She was confused about her lack of feeling. Being relieved they were gone so she could finally die.

In the past, her relatives would tell her parents a dog would be more thankful than their child.

After their passing, Yu Qingxian agreed with them.

[collapse]

Not that she didn't grieve, she just didn't realize it.
Spoiler

She started taking photos for her parents to see, and traveled to all the tourist spots her parents had gone to. She would often think about them.

[collapse]

It is a bit dark too because she is always battling with the will to not live.

The way the novel ended,

Spoiler

It was a bittersweet open ending. She just returns to the lab every few years because they need her. Am I the only one feeling sad she didn't die, while being taken advantage of?

She just ignored her friends as well.

I just wish she at least found a reason to live instead of wandering around alone without much joy.

[collapse]

Some things were glossed over.
Spoiler

The special crystals that spread the virus after the bright light that killed mc's parents.

The meteorites that didn't break.

More info about MC. Why was she special?

[collapse]

Also there were some slight Chinese propaganda as per usual but it wasn't so obvious or common.

I did love this novel. The biggest reason is probably because MC is so flawed. Recommend it. <<less

I dont really post reviews or even write them in the first place but this novel is the bomb. To be honest I wasn't expecting much from this novel but I have to say it was so good!! I've never read a story like this and it definitely became one of my favorite c novel to date. I definitely recommend this to everyone who wanted to read a chill storyline. I loved the MC and the friends she made along the way. I also liked how her relationships progress with... more>> every person and Zombie she kept meeting. I don't like saying goodbyes to beloved characters but the way it was structured here in the story is very good, though a feel bittersweet it's much better than any c novels I've seen. <<less

Such a chill novel for an apocalypse genre, I really love it! Its not boring because it keeps you entertained with her journey. I can relate to her as a fellow introvert, and it makes me see things from a different perspective. Such a good read!

However, it would be better if the pronouns were consistent. I noticed that they sometimes refer to our female lead as a he, which can be confusing at times.

MC: Hey, since it's the zombie apocalypse and I'm a socially awkward introvert with no survival skills, might as well die.

But she didn't. She became a zombie instead.

Honestly, is a fun, chill read. No major dramatic points, high tension. They all happen far away from the MC's perspective. She's just walking around and seeing things.

Spoiler

While the idea of "people come and go" in Yu Qingxian's life is there, there's still some saddening scenes, like when she left T-rex at the end because she agreed on the experiment that could protect humanity. Those chapters with T-rex are heartwarming.

Stumbled upon this novel by accident and cant help but attracted by its title and cute picture featuring cheerful FMC.

Follow along FMC as she travel around her home country while being a zombie. See as she tried to survive by avoiding humans but cant resist helping any humans whenever she is able to.

Spoiler

Got teary eyes when she finally achieved her initial goal but glad she continued living her life afterwards

[collapse]

Translation is a bit janky but better than direct MTLs.

I couldnt help but get attached to FMC even though this novel is only 133 chapters long.

Will be in my re-read list. P.S, this novel is best read during rainy / snowy days. <<less

Really cute and unique travel log of a zombie during the apocalypse. The direction of this storyline is pretty similar to other apocalypse stories, but making the lead a zombie really gave it a fresh feel. It felt like a slice of life novel a little bit. Definitely recommend this read.

Intro says it all but I still found the novel vanilla-interesting. MC, Yu Qingxian, is scared of interacting with humans but she's okay with zombies. In the end, being a zombie is a good fit for MC since she's able to fulfill her longing for travel. She meets interesting humans and zombies but doesn't form a tight bond with anyone. There is some concern and slight affection only... she's kind in an indifferent way.

A chill read. It's more like she's a mob character unintentionally bumping into OP protagonists every so... more>> often.

Spoiler

After she is zombified, MC ends up touring scenic sites around the nation. This is to fulfill her wants and also to see the places that her parents had visited when they were alive. Throughout the novel, MC never got hungry cause she was able to fill up her energy through smell. She also does many good deeds without wanting recognition.

Some zombies have abilities and MC's isn't obvious. Her actual ability is to oppress other zombies, even though her combat ability is below average. She was able to influence higher level zombies and zombie kings to the benefit of humans.

In the end, she allowed humans to experiment on her to create a vaccine against the zombie virus. A vaccine was finally developed to help zombies stop eating humans. Lastly, the best of all was MC no longer desired to die.

That was quite an interesting and odd read.

Got a fair lot of laughs in, got engrossed, but it does also have rough patches.

Though enjoyable in overall, it also felt lacking, especially at the end.

Seems to have had more potential but got wasted, unless they later release more chapters that is covering those parts.

Spoiler

Near the tail end, time skips were inserted and felt rushed as well as lackluster. Some other characters and findings of MC were also pretty much just thrown aside which felt like could've been expanded upon such as Mc's meeting with Mima. Can only hope for more chapters covering whatever happened to them.

[collapse]

Also had some minor other issues such as pronouns and name mix ups but doesn't really interfere with reading that much. <<less

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this! It was a calming and relaxing experience, with a light touch of humor. While it felt a bit slow in some parts, it was still a great experience. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a laid-back and entertaining time.

I'm just going to say that I didn't expect much when I went into the novel but the translation of the writing was a lot better than I expected at some parts you might feel that it starts to drag but when you realize that it's only 133 chapters you continue going, also the thought that there's still some unsolved things to be addressed.

I cried at the end of the book and towards the end of the book as well.
I didn't dislike the female lead I did quite like her her personality however I do wish the author gave for a little more something to look forward to but I understood that this was something about her character that wouldn't change because that was the basis of the book.

TBH I'd give the story a 3.5

It's actually good and I finished it which would normally give it at least a 4.5 but there are some things I have issues with. Major spoilers ahead!!!

One: the author explained too much on certain aspects of the world but not enough or at all on other aspects.

Spoiler

why do some people have systems? What was happening to her body? Why did she have special powers but was weak? What happens when a zombie eats the meteor crystal? What did the meteor do to her when she got close? All these questions and no answers. I'm all for things happening with no explanation, but why explain the reason for the apocalypse and everyone else's powers but not the main character's as well as the reason for some other major events?

[collapse]

Two: saying it differently doesn't change the fact that you are repeating yourself.

Spoiler

we are first told that she wants to die and is only traveling to see the world since it's an apocalypse and she's a zombie. Then why is it repeated six times over? We know what she's doing and why she's doing it so please stop telling us over and over again, even if it's for plot sake. There are ways to write it so that your audience doesn't get annoyed or bored

[collapse]

Three:

Spoiler

that ending... It felt rushed, lackluster and oddly placed. We spend the whole story with her leisurely exploring the world and eating melon seeds then she goes to the base to help them find a cure then ten year time skip that she apparently doesn't remember that well and finished, time to go home everyone, thanks for reading (okay there are a few extra chapter from the other characters' pov but that doesn't change the ending)

[collapse]

I'm going to end here because it makes it seem like I dislike the story. I don't, it's really good, had no romance (which I had been looking for), had well written humor that shines through the sometimes oddly translated English, and has a slightly relatable MC. Finally a character that isn't trying hard to survive the apocalypse.

Would recommend. <<less
