Though the story took place in the middle age of Europe, ML is more like a typical nowadays Japanese man: a strict and meticulous workaholic. MC also resembles a normal traditional Japanese lady with her faithful dedication to home, and she also quit her job to get married, which further adds to the resemblance. It's normal, considering the story is written by a Japanese author for their country's readers.

BTW, I don't think the ML is selfish, heartless, or something like that. Sentences like "I love you" or "I've fallen for you" are not much of a challenge to say if one's born and raised in the Western part of the globe. Yet to the Easterners, especially people who live in countries bordered by China like Japan, these words are too heavy. So instead, they used indirect phrases, or easier, just use intimate actions to show their feelings. There is nothing absurd to do that. In my opinion, the cool ML is far better than those tr*shy men whose mouths are full of flattery words without really meaning it, I'm serious here.

Words only last for the seconds it is spoken, but action will last far longer than that in people's mind. And I think a fine effort is far more important than a mere beautiful speech.

It's a story of two people who felt the need for each other, one likes helping out and the other just wants to be able to relax and they found companionship because of that. They didn't have marriage in mind at first, but when somebody suggested it, it became a marriage of convenience and I like the ML for spelling out what he wanted immediately. It may sound a little too blunt but that's the personality of the ML and it's a good contrast to how he became a doting husband later on. And the smut is spot on. I love it. Mutual consent and full of foreplay, where they don't do it the whole night to morning and where the female's waist don't hurt after.

I liked how the MC was a bit conscious of her own "no", stop", "not there" verbal behaviour during s*x since she did like it but it somehow just came out that way and she was worried it'd give him the wrong expression. So she mentioned that to him and I just found that talk so wholesome. I'm not particularly fond of that way of expressing oneself during s*x since it can create problems and may be misleading and stuff, so I really appreciated that the author included that :)
