Very entertaining so far! I was expecting a mindless adult-novel, but it actually picks up almost immediately and kept me entertained. Of course if you are going to read this, you need to realize it's still a CN harem-adult novel so don't go in there expecting an intricate yaoi-drama. But for what it is, it's good (as of c65).

So confused. It is clearly missing a beginning. Are we supposed to just read the summary to get the background information? Wtf?

And it's not the translator missing it or something, it really just starts way too abruptly with the dude already having died (?) and transmigrated (?) with a dragon stone (?) having saved a princess (?) and practicing a mysterious cultivation technique (?)

These are all just like tossed at you with no explanation.

Edit: Ok, so far some odd reason the author waits until chapter 13 then just does... more>> like a very brief explanation of the origin of the story. It honestly makes no sense the way they did it but whatever lol <<less

The author of Womanizing Mage does it again! This is an amazingly fun cultivation novel with elements of kingdom building, dripping with soul and passion. Highly recommended, especially if you enjoyed Womanizing Mage

Overall: The story is enjoyable and it is easier than many novels to read when using MTL. I recommend it but please continue to understand better.

  • World Building (4.5) : there is a very complete world built with a pretty complex set of political and inter species links and relationships. It can get a little confusing keeping track of the various locations at times but that is usually the exception. A map would be helpful.
  • Character development (4) : Many of the main characters are pretty well fleshed out. They have different personalities and while they don’t have a lot of depth, they aren’t shallow either.
  • MC character (4) :the early character of the MC is highly focused on getting stronger and finding women/girls that can help him during the times he is promoted to a higher level.

    He only really forces one person and that is the first one at the beginning of the book. She does accept it but it and it isn’t really r*pe, but it does walk the line. After reaching a certain level of his main cultivation method (fourth I believe), he achieves internal balance between yin and yang and no longer requires women with an extreme yin constitution. I believe there are five women he plants with his dragon will to have them have a better feeling of him. These are all early on. Two of them are younger and he has no intention of taking advantage of them. They will not join his harem until much later when they are 18 or older. Other than the first woman in the first few chapters, he is very particular about the women he sleeps with. He will not move past touching until there is a deep emotional connection between the two people and will always stop if they resist.

  • Plot (4) : The overall plot and storyline is strong. There are not many plot or character holes (see the next topic for clarification).

    the ending is the worst I have seen in a completed novel. It just ends. Out of the blue. In the middle of a major plot arc.
    There is no attempt to close any plot holes. It just ends. In fact, it is so jarring that if it is setting up for a second novel, it is doing a terrible job. There are a bunch of people that are not wrapped up, including Feng Tien, Ming Yan, Princess Mingyue, the elf princess and her retinue, the dragon clan, and pretty much the entire major plot line. Super disappointed.

I think it's a good story, I like the storyline and not to beat around the bush. The storyline also moves quickly.

But the longer I read it the more complicated the storyline became. Maybe because I read using a machine, so there are some parts that I don't understand.

I think the issue is for me it tries to be a bit of everything, action comedy ecchi romance politics, 'fief building', while just being mediocre, if even, at all of those. Also the MC is not well fleshed out. Also active harem members (not potential) are like 50% loli's as of chapter 200... The story is kind of smutty, but not good smut. Has action but those scenes aren't that enticing at all. Romance isn't really there, as it's basically mind control and characters aren't written that deep. The... more>> dukedom building is also decent.

But at the same time that's why it gets a mediocre rating, because it did have a lot of different things going on, and it didn't do awful in any of them. So it was entertaining to read.

Back to the CONS:

The MC has some personality, but not much. Also very vague morals. More on that below. MC has an obvious preference towards very young girls. 14 is 'ripe' according to him. The story imo, has a pretty dominant loli theme. At least 2 harem members, of like the 4 currently, are 14 years old. That's a 50% loli ratio. Biggest fMC focused on is probably Huan or Feng Ruoyu.

Some spoilers about Feng Ruoyu, the 12-14 year old, that is a big CON for me.

Fengrou is 12 when we meet her, she is MC's little sister-in-law. He mind controls her to fall in love, as soon as meeting her, thinking "in a few years she'll be good". A FEW. It just gets even more creepy from there. Later when she is 14, FOURTEEN, that's when MC starts inner dialoguing about her super sexually, saying she's "just ripe" and quotes like that, that will make you cringe. Watching her sleep and 'pitching a tent' in his pants quite often. Author seems to go into more s*xual details about her than most other characters (except Cat Girl, Huan).

Minor spoiler below about really low point for our MC in terms of moral values. And it's just a bit annoying cause he'll do the whole 'good guy' routine quite a bit, sometimes respects consensual s** greatly, at risk of his own life, and even genuinely risk his life for his friends or partners when they're in danger, and then he'll do this kind of stuff. I just don't know what our MC is supposed to be. Feels like MC's moral values vary based on the author's attitude he had while writing the chapter... Just not consistent.

I think it's around Chapter 150, Huo Suqi or whatever. This is where I'm like 'what is our MC's bottom line/moral values?'. A guard of this clan family makes a mistake thinking our MC scared/messed with this little girl, their clan princess or whatever (12 years old). So the guard tries to attack MC. MC easily stops it, kills guard, then demands the 12 year old girl be given to him (he sensed her 'yin' and just like the other 12 year old, wanted to groom her). Then he of course mind controls her to fall in love like all the other girls. But I'm fine with villain MC's or good MC's, but 'vague' MC's are kind of odd to me... One's that go back and forth? Like he'll spout some good moral stuff about repaying kindness with kindness or basic human decency, or risk his life for his comrades, genuinely, then he'll threaten to destroy a clan to have s** with a 12 year old... Author is obviously a loli fan, so watch out for that.

Mind you like chapter 8 or something, he's telling Yan Rou to 'get away!' from him because he can feel his Yang energy building up. So these 2 people are just not the same people. <<less
