The novel follows many cliches, but is interesting near the start. The MC throughout the 5000 chapters has odd sudden bursts of cultivation and other times where he can’t cultivate quickly.

You can tell the author was experimenting, what with temporarily using “Demon value” to prevent the MC from breaking through too much.

But what makes this novel so frustrating is that the author never figures out how to create a reason for the MC to continue cultivation other than kidnapping his wives or someone he knows repeatedly. This is continually repeated... more>> but with absolutely no harm to said loved ones, completely draining the story of urgency or danger. If someone he cared about died it’d be a lot different.

Second, the author kept writing themself into a corner with the MC’s system upgrades that make the MC seem incredibly incompetent. Despite his Heaven Defying Cheats, the MC will allow his antagonists to escape repeatedly for reasons such as “wanting to see what happens” or wanting to monologue to them.

Even worse, around chapter 2100+ the MC completely changes character from a cautious, low-key person to someone with absolutely no self control with the excuse of him being upset about a loved one being stolen.

The addition of Fei Yan makes our MC seem to lose even more intelligence. Instead of using any of his abilities, he continually falls into all sorts of haphazard mocking.

Novel picks up around 3, 500 though so it manages to recover but it’s simply disappointing.

Honestly, the MC continually appears to be incompetent and making choices that harm those around him. At least the author decided to have the MC sometimes protect those he cares about by providing them with bodyguards or resources.

TLDR:

The greatest fault of this novel is that there is no satisfying comebacks for the MC. The author doesn’t know how to write the MC taking down his foes. Usually even if the MC was tortured several times and his family harmed, the MC will get revenge... by gladly killing the person in two lines along with the enemy going “Not Possible!” Or he might not get revenge at all, completely forgetting about the person entirely.

Example: MC’s contracted Pet Ghost Dragon gets the contract removed by this Ox Demon at a higher cultivation level and MC wants to get revenge. When the MC finally gets stronger and shows up at the Ox’s HQhe finds out the Ox took the Ghost Dragon to put one of his 12 Beast alliance leaders into the body and turned the Mc’s dragon into a tiny concentrated orb. So what does the MC do? Oh, he scolds them. The revenge? Gone. It’s very underwhelming.

Later into the novel the author gets slightly better but very clearly they don’t understand how to write a satisfying victory that makes it seem like the MC fully got revenge for the suffering he’s faced.

Look, this novel is no History’s Strongest Senior Brother or I Eat Tomatoes story. It’s no masterpiece, but it’s still an average read with 5000+ chapters. I’d recommend it to people who ran out of stories to read. <<less

edit: Read up to 719 not really much of a harem only 2 women, romance somewhat there. Women rarely mentioned as much to a point that you even forgot about them if you don't read continuously.

[Warning this novel changes, slowly transforming from a martial artist main character to a beast tamer main character. All of the main character bloodlines skill eventually become extremely restricted by time or some other conditions, turning him into a one hit wonder were he can only perform at his strongest every 3 or more days]

To me wish fulfillment novels are simple novels with op main characters who often have ridiculous cheats or talent. There great for when you don't want anything too complicated and mentally stimulating. This makes them easy... more>> to binge, as you can easily see through the plot, without the need to use your brain to figure out a whats going to happen. This formula however doesn't work when you take away the ridiculous op cheats. All your left with then is a paper thin plot with one dimensional characters. There isn nothing to keep you entertained. This author seems to be writing a wish fulfillment novel but won't fully commit. The author constantly nerfs the main character, so you end up with a main character who doesn't seem to fit wish fulfillment. This leads to the inability to draw you in which snowballs to you no longer being distracted enough to ignore all the faults of the novel.

[Be warned this main character never fights himself even duels he will use his contracted beast. It pretty annoying when he ends up fighting 3 against one in competitions. Its basically the opposite of op characters who tell others to fight against him at the same time. It wouldn't annoy me if it was just during life or death battles but in duels it just makes him look like a weak, coward, that is cheating. Honstely one very telling Part of how fake the main character is is when he says its unfair to use one contracted beast but not two others. He says this is because the the Earth Spirit and the skeleton are weapon spirits but the tree demon isn't but thats not true. The tree demon was turned into a weapon spirit which was done so that he is eternal in every way unless the main character dies just like the other 2. It just it was orignaly a tree demon while the others an earth spirt and skeleton. I'm not sure what the author was going for her maybe just to make him seem like is being magnanimous, but to the reader it just makes him look like a hypocritical poser because as readers we know. Anyway at the beginning he did fight alone but since his first contract near chapter 300 he has almost never (at one point the earth spirit died and was gone for an few hundred chapters) fought alone since, and since his contracts are almost now all immortal he probably never will. I can't count the times everytime he does this he comes up against an enemy whom kicks his but and makes him look an idiot or just am enemy like him but instead takes out hundreds of beast companions. In my opinion when a read starts hoping for the failure of a the main character the novel has a problem, amd this main character is just not likable.]

Main character gets killer bloodline which is extremely restricted to the point of being annoying. One of the skills slaughter fest would allow him to reach 4x strength during fights with enough killing. Main character upgrades bloodline to immortal executioner slaughter fest is gone. Now he has killing imprints. He can have a max of 5 imprints and can condense 3 a day. One use is using a imprint to double his strength. Sounds great until 20 chapters later when he first uses and the main character and the reader learn that he can only use it once at a time. The author has effectively evolved his bloodline to even more restrictive tr*sh gone is any possiblity for 4x strength. Also no it's not the author realizing he is to op there has been an even more absured bloodlines with no restrictions except that the heavenly dao doesn't allow them and they suffer a Tribulation when fully awakend. However tha tribulations is bs because if you a born in a semi decent location them they will pass the tribulation without any problem. The only reason ome of the people has suffered is because a plot hole. Also when I say absurd I mean it this bloodline absords qi 24/7 she can refine heaven and earth treasures in a week that push her forth 9 minor realms into a new major realm. In a similar environment 1 day or cultivation (which is just living) can be equal to 10 or more years to others. The huge plot hole is in her first lifes the location has cultivators one step away from what the tribulation original strength would require. I say it's a plot hole because in her first life her mother was able to give the main character 90% on the spot without any problem (and no thus wasn't everything they own) enough resources to reach the pinnacle of that realm just one step below the requirement for the tribulation in her first life. Yes the main characters devouring system is instantaneous but each realm requires like 100x the rescoures that others need. This fox girl while she traveled with the main character did have a 2x boost in cultivation speed however that still only like two weeks to refine treaures that could easily boost her realm many times. Also when the in her original birth territory even without resources she constantly said when ask that she would need two or three days in the main characters personal territory which has a much lower heaven and earth energy concentration. So how she never reached the required realm is beyond me.

Once again when the the main character ascends to the immoral realm the author makes everything worse. His space eyes no longer work in the immortal realm. So the main character buys his first new bloodline in a long time. Space-time immortal bloodline. The time part just like eyes of time are useless for him and are just to increase the speed of his personal world space so others can keep up with his cultivation. The space part give him a defensive skill and the ability to teleport. However unlike the space eyes in the Mortal realm the author felt need to make it so he can only teleport 3 times a day now. That's on top of losing the other abilities of the space eyes. All he did was replace space eye with something worse using ascending as an excuse to nerf him. All of the main characters bloodline skills have absured requirements or are extremely limited. One powerful skill after use he has to spends days hunting and devouring beast corpses to recharge, the killing imprint only ends up with him only use a single skill each battle at most because the battles ends before he can condense more imprints now he even changed a thing he could do previously as long a he had qi to a cooldown timer. There has only been one other bloodline with a cool down amd that was the fox girl. However as she got stronger and her bloodline awaken further

the skill went from 1 to 16 to infinite times a day. Then she got a more powerful version of the skill and the author just scraped any time requirements at the start and made it all based on qi. Now the only person with bloodline cooldowns is the main character as well as the earth spirit, tree demon, and skeleton which have become weapon spirits. Oh and the fox girls qi requirements are null as well because everyone who is contracted with him gets his beast master speed, strength etc upgrades and his undying Phoenix bloodlines fast injury healing, fast qi restoration and poison resistance. So most normal battles you don't even get to see more than one skill and its none of the powerful ones with requirement because the main character is always hesitant to use them. I say one skill because all skills of his cultivation stage for a while require devouring points, so a battle usually comes of killing intent for a buff and whatever growth skill the remain with him for a few hundred chapter before needing something better. I'd say he uses the ridiculous requirements skill less than 30 times before he sell them for devouring points because there no longer useful. That may seem like alot but most of this novels is killing and stealing loot to devour so that's a few hundred battles every few hundred chapters.

Also demon value is pointless this whole novel is just fast cultivation. The characters, non existent story, and world, none of the above are even slightly interesting. Slowing everything down just allows you to witnesses just how bad this novel is even more. I mean his choices are use a devouring point to reduce ten points (breaking through once increases it by 30%.) Wait 5 years for every 60% or find rare treasures to lower it. This effectively just, made cultivation for him far more difficult then other geniuses. The whole instant breakthrough thing is now useless. Also he can't even used his personal world time increase because he can't enter it hismelf. The fox girl has already caught up to him (without resources) because his space has upgraded to 400x faster than the real world and now she will once again start to surpass him as he is even giving her the resources he gets because he can't use them. Also the fox girl hasn't cultivates her immortal heart which will give her another massive boost to cultivation speed. From the time he entered the immortal the author has started boasting his personal worlds speed from 200x to 400x all the while now introducing demom value slowing down. So the author nerfed his skills and everything else as well. I'm guessing that his personal space accelatered time probably doesn't actually effect aging this is adding up to making the fox girl realm soar get discovered declared as a peerless genius and get taken away by some superpower. Even worse is the author is continuing to make his breakthrough have higher demon value gained ao he is continuing to make it even more difficult, while continuing to increase the speed of his worlds time with every cultivation stage imcrease making it easier for others. Anyway at this point the devouring system benefits others more than him. The sad part is this frustration is an excuse for the fox girl, a single character to keep up. The author hasn't mentioned a thing of the main characters wives, familys, or friends cultivation but is willing to change the pace of the entire novel for his beast servant fox girl. Update: At this point the main character personal space is 6400x. Fox girl whenever she wants can transform into a heavenly fox this is as strong if not stronger than the main character Kilin summon no absurd cool down required. Honstely I don't even think at this point he is purchasing real bloodlines from the system. Either that or those with the immortal Kilin bloodlime have to spend a year eating thousands of beast to restore there kilin kilin summoning skill. The system only true value what the author just nerfed fast cultivation speed, as his skills are never available because there on cooldown anyway. Main character calls himself a sword immortal but most of his strength comes from beast companions so he is more of a beast tamer. I mean even in terms of magic treasures ever since leaving his home island the author never tells us anything other than of he punches with his fist or slashes with a sword. He has 5 different contract beast right now fighting each one with the same power than him actually more because there cultivation levels are always higher than his. During fights he often is fighting the weaker enemy's. With most of his strength coming from his ever expanding group of beast companions the author himself still calls the main character a sword immortal. Update: The main character personal space time control continues to soar now reaching 20, 000x, if only he could use it himself to deal with those cooldowns. Main character should stop upgrading his Immortal executioner bloodline and only upgrade the half of the Kilin bloodline that strengthens his beast companions, the time part of the space time bloodline and the undying Phoenix bloodline because it raises both his beast companions and his own surviablighty because his own strength isnt contributing anything worthwhile. Actually its taking away as instead of wasting points on ridiculously absurd cooldown skills bloodlinew he could just upgrade the passive skills improving the beast companions while they use there non restricted powerful bloodline skills.

This author has started to continue focusing on luck as well. Not just luck finding treasures. First he gave a passive to the main character which is basically a crit in video games. Then then Kilin Summoning technique is a random attribute. Megatron has a treasure roulette transformation ability. 3 times a day he can transform into a random treasure. The main character is going to become the most unreliable cultivator in the future if everything continues to go in this direction. I don't know if its just me but hoping he gets lucky during a fight is completely unsatisfying. The entire novel continues to become more and more like a litrpg rather than a cultivation novel. It wasn't like that at the beginning. The genre seems to have changed.

Ive gotten this far is because I keep telling myself I've already spent so much time but at this point even that isn't enough of a reason for me to keep reading anymore.

If your looking for a novel that constantly surprises you than this is it because I've never been surprised so many times after thinking it can't get any worse and disappoint me anymore than this novel. <<less

The MC Kills and robs everywhere he goes and then breakthroughs. That's all what this story is about. Not much fun.

A few interesting things here and there. It's a bit decent in the early stages but after he gets the killer bloodline. He becomes more and more like a bandit. The story becomes repetitive and monotonous. Kill, rob and breakthrough one realm after another from one area to another.

A very poorly written story.

The novel is very entertaining to read, but cliches still there.

MC was a genius but he turned to a 'tr*sh' after making contact with the system, despaired, su*cide, Hail the modern MC that came from Earth.

Mysterious father with an op power along with a mother from mysterious clan bla bla... the MC would discover about the grandeur of his old man the more he xp.

the fiancée part, the MC take it calmly, he even ask for money to sign the divorce contract x'D

After that, grinding become. MC swallow stuffs and gain points, buy bloodlines, Breakthrough in the middle of fights...

The world is almost infinite.

Outer space - 9 havens - floating continents - Immortal World - Realms - Secret realms - Islands continents.

As usual the MC start in a backward area in the mortal plane, in some secret realm of one the small sects in the mortal plane Realm Domain (I forget the name).

It seems that his whole legendary journey for about 800-1000 chapters or so was only in one of the thousands secret realms.

after dominating the mortal plane, he found a way to the immortal world, and all those characters that were his friends and even masters turned useless. Immortal world - 9 heavens - Outer space. Killing lotting, swallow space rings and get ever stronger.

There a lot of realms, but it's the same mortal - Immortal - Divine - Beyond space...

The stroy is interesting if you like a fast cultivation MC, cuz this one will make you speechless.

A lot of plot armor and fast level up but it still doesn’t make any senses. He suppose to be the best in his town and his ex fiancé got accepted by some strong sect. With his fast speed chest system he still couldn’t catch up to her. Author just make up story as it go along doesn’t matter if it make silence or not. He had two years and he still can’t catch up with some crazy OP cheat for everyone to awe him. I can’t stand it anymore... more>> so I dropped it. <<less

The plot is very attractive. I only decide to read one chapter, but now I read up to the chapter 11 and still want to know how it will develop. The pace is fast. MC is optimistic and tries his best to change the current situation. I admire his attitude.

The setting is very interesting! The system can swollen everything. This book is promising. When I read the first chapter, I get hooked. I immerse myself in the world of the book. The author uses concise language to build the plot, character and event, giving a refreshing feeling. Love it, thanks to the translator. Plus, the update is stable. Very GOOD! So does the translation quality.
