Yu Qunqing opened his eyes and found himself reborn in his own neighborhood, occupying an area of over 10,000 square meters.

At this moment, three months had passed since the natural disaster struck. The neighbors had all fled, strange creatures lurked outside the community, and a terrifying heavy rainstorm was set to arrive in three days, followed by a prolonged drought.

However, another voice echoed in Yu Qunqing’s mind:

“Ding dong! Congratulations on restarting the casual gaming system.”
“We have downloaded a match-three home decoration game for you: ‘Mediterranean Butler Elimination.'”

By completing a level, you would earn a six-pointed star to repair the fence on the first floor and resist the mutated monsters. With two six-pointed stars, you could activate the elevator and embark on a journey to a new area.

“We need some plants to decorate! Spend a six-pointed star to beautify the flower beds in the community! Choose one of the following: ‘Fiery Azalea,’ ‘Enchanting Blue Rose,’ or ‘Vibrant Morning Glory!'”

Thus, in the post-apocalyptic world, a fortress with abundant water and electricity was established, indestructible and visually pleasing.

Outside the community, a heavily injured group of survivors approached, leaning on each other for support. They looked at the pleasant temperature and the flourishing environment of the community, finally finding hope for survival in their hearts.

Later, Yu Qunqing recognized his friends from his past life among the group of survivors. At this moment, they had no strength and were at the mercy of others. However, not a single tragedy would befall them in this lifetime..

Some warnings: Cannibalism, human experimentation, mu*der, torture, body horror.

This novel is tricky to rate, so I won't.

You need a f-ton of suspension of disbelieve to get to the point where things start to make a bit of sense (around chapter 60), before that it's a huge mess.

There's no character development because central characters are reborn and have no need to change in any meaningful way.
Whoever isn't, has very little personality to begin with and even less screentime.

Bonus points for the MC, he tries to be a good person but not a goody-two-shoes, means he's extremely ruthless and brutal the moment he decides that you are against him or aren't worth the effort.
Finally a post-apocalyptic character who has the appropriate personality for his background.

The story is completely focused on MC with some ML on the side, the team aspect is minimal and most of the novel is about the game system.

It's a weird mix of biological horror and a bit of Sci-Fi that gets progressively more Sci-Fi, with lots of unique ideas and fun passages.

The problem is that it makes little sense even when things get clearer, mainly because all characters act in unbelievable ways.

I would say it's high-quality crack, not a true, serious novel.

For those who don't want to risk wasting time, here's the explanation of the story-core:

Spoiler

The monsters are alien-lifeforms, low-level ones are basically animals, which caused the mass-killings of humans.
High-level ones are generally intelligent and not against co-existing with humans, the harm they cause is unintentional, but humans can't communicate with them, so they see them as pure evil.
In short, the aliens are just trying to adept and survive.

MC's rebirth isn't rebirth but time-reversal caused by a reaction between the game system (one of the aliens) and his initial ability.
MC isn't a human anymore, he evolved far beyond human understanding and is now basically one of the aliens in terms of genetics and ability.
Most humans are in fact evolving into a new species closer to the aliens, it's a large scale evolution triggered by alien-genes.

The "book" one of the characters has in his mind isn't a vision of the future or an indicator that the whole story is a book, it's an alien manipulating him into thinking the book is real.
It's alien-novelupdates, but it lists only the most low-quality abuse-romance novels on the market.

[collapse]

My personal rating is 4 stars because it's a fun read with creative ideas, but objectively speaking, it's rather low quality in terms of professional writing.
The writer has clear potential, just a bit lacking in experience and technical skills.

This is a very strange story because the premise is so damn weird, but I still like it?

If you want a serious and dark apocalypse, this isn't going to scratch that itch-- although serious things happen and the world around is very dark, the main character has a means of upgrading that's so refreshing that it can't help but lower the stakes.

For me, who wanted an easy leveling-up story, that works well. It's almost like slice of life, but the life they're living (and the way they finance it!) is... more>> completely abnormal, so it doesn't have the dullness that slice novels can sometimes have.

MC's basically playing all those idle phone games, but to upgrade his base in the real world. I do think that the way the side characters accept the base's magic is a little belief-stretching-- the whole premise is, but their lack of concern and how quickly they go from awe to 'yes, let us get building materials for the crocodile god and also open a Starbucks' (no, really) makes them pretty cardboard and keeps feelings shallow.

Not finished, but it's a fun way to pass the time so far and I do really like the main CP and their dynamic--

Spoiler

As of Chp. 34, they have met, teamed up, and are even roommates again, but they both think the other doesn't remember them and hasn't been reborn, so the way they interact is very cute. Our ML is basically a nervous kid overthinking his crush and blurting things out like 'I want to be with you.' Our MC is somehow completely unaware and just thinks that the guy is different because he was able to 'rescue' him before too many of the bad things from their last life happened, so he doesn't take any of his awkward softness as a sign.

Leave your brain at the door, give thanks to the crocodile fairy, and it's a nice popcorn novel. <<less

I did love the first half but it got a bit boring later on.

To be honest, I love apocalypse novels and also gaming. So this novel strangely seemed to tick the boxes for me.

At the start it was really fun. I mean who didn't play some "Match 3" games? I really could relate, especially since I play "Gardenscapes" at the moment it is so true how MC is grinding levels to dress up and evolve the community.

So as mentioned in the description, MC is back to the... more>> start of the apocalypse and his ability is a system with mini games to evolve his community. First is only the Mediterranean villa game, later he gets other games too. He is playing and growing his community and saving people by the side.

It's more of a light novel. The first half was pretty fun but it got somewhat boring later on. Basically from the moment when there was a "second server" opened.... it made no sense. This is one of the biggest logic holes. Why build a food court and other stuff in the middle of nowhere without living spaces to accommodate the workers? It just made no sense to the end.

If you are looking for a sweet love novel... you will not find it here. ML is basically a following shadow. There are rare cute interactions and it is a bit dry. They get along more of an old couple way since they were a team all along.

The cutest parts might be the little krockodils and the "cat".

So...i had fun reading this and the MTL is easy to read. I would recommend reading it, if you are not looking for something deep, and can ignore some logic holes. <<less

The apocalypse is a bit original and I love how the story unfolds. Most people are very lovely and they characters are interesting, if given more length they could be more active parts if the story line. My only -star is for the lack of intimate scenes and almost no kisses 🥲 The two extra chapters are very good and give us room for imagination, however very shirt 🥲

Promising... but the MTL, while not the worst, is a bit difficult for me. I just have a difficult time focusing on it, and I keep getting lost, until, after a while, I notice that I haven't been paying attention to what I was reading XD. Maybe it's the content too? I find it interesting, but it's kinda very inclusive. Once you miss one thing, you miss everything. And there's all sorts of things going on. The MC's cheats are very... unique! And, because of this, there are tons of... more>> explanations (which is very hard to completely piece together in MTL T.T). ANYWAY SO -- I think I didn't give this a fair shot. So I've decided that, even though I've read more than half of the story, I won't be rating it. I'll just come back to reread when the TL is further along.

_________

SUMMARY: The MC, Yu Qunqing, died after being used to the fullest extent by someone he thought of as a friend as well as his brother. The next thing he knew, he woke up to the time when the apocalypse had just begun. Well, it's been at least three months. The world has already mostly gone to hell. There are various "disasters" (which is what the monsters of this novel are called) running around, and he's all alone in the apartment he had bought before the apocalypse began. In the previous life, he would have headed to the shelter and met up with his family and his brother. Later, because of his strong abilities, he was touted as the most powerful ability user by the base and was given priority on things like experimental evolution liquids. He was also forced into a team with other ability users to become the fighting force of the base.

All of this, he took in stride. His personality became somewhat skewed. But he worked hard. Until... well, he died. The MC after rebirth knows all of this, but there are severe gaps in his memories. So he can only work with what he's got. He intends to find all of his allies in the previous life. All while upgrading his community with the help of a system (the system is his ability, in a way. It forces him to play various mobile phone games to earn stars -- which he can use to buy upgrades for infrastructure). There are some conflicts along the way, of course, not just with Disasters but also with humans from other bases. But the main focus seems to be upgrading. <<less
