MC reincarnated into a hamster and then raised by his lowkey rival! The interactions are sooo cute, really interesting how the ML is treating the human-like hamster but not realizing the hamster is special. The ML talks to the hamster (mc) and teases it. (ML is the cold dense type, while MC is the passionate normal type)

He even gave the hamster an iPad, , ,

I have paid this novel's VIP full access (and of course, through blood and tear process) only for reading it via MTL and it looks like a right decision.

At first, the story shows you a cute and silly hamster, hilarious master and his friends. But through the warm atmosphere and colorful sunshine, you will clearly see a deep hole lies beneath it. This hole contains a lot of secrets and answers to some questionable events.

Every character in this story miraculously link with each other and their revealed past will always... more>> surprise you. Fate brings them to meet and come across through simple yet complicated situation. They will always face many obstacles with a calm mind and break through it all together.

You cannot judge all of them, you cannot literally hate one of them, but you can love and be attached to most of them.

I love how Yi Shu balances all elements in this novel really well, and they are combined into a beautiful story, which full of warmth and playfulness, with a hint of tomato and melon seed taste. <<less

This novel was enjoyable until it wasn’t.

Spoiler

starting from when fishy returns to his body, the novel has gone down hill. Fishy’s intelligence went from 100 to 0 real quick. His usual quirkiness disappears, instead, he turns into this meek, docile, and s*upid fool. All of his character development disappears, and it is less and less enjoyable to see him act out the role of a “damsel in distress.” I originally liked this novel because it was different. The character had dimension to them. It didn’t feel like I was reading the generic Chinese BL story. :/ Guess not.

so much fluff!! I love them both, but there is something about a pouty hamster that tugs at the heart waaaay more than a pouty human ever could. and no naive, dumb as a box of rocks MC, which is a huge plus.

I'm a little nervous about where the story is headed, seeing as hamsters have such a short lifespan and his body had already lived part of its life when he got it (I'm guessing he has 233 day left until the end; less than a year). what will... more>> happen to our MC when his little hamster body gives out? what will happen to our ML who loves his Fishy? I wonder how big a box of tissue I'll need for this book? here's hoping for a H.E.

Edit c145

that took some turns I wasn't expecting. and is it just me or is Fishy way more dumb, naive, and submissive as a human than he was as a hamster? at least as a hamster he stood up to the ML, was clever and skeptical. human Fishy just accepts everything, including being treated as though he were a little child (or woman in Chinese culture) to be pampered and petted and totally dominated. the fluff is good but I'm disappointed in the human Fishy. And lets not get into the ML's horrible behavior... so sad this turned into a typical idiot MC+Domineering ML stereotype when it started out so unique and fresh. <<less

One of the cutest MC I have EVER came across in the BL world! The pair will give you major fluff feels. Never have I enjoyed sulking hamsters more. *Pokes that butt*

The gap moe you get from the cold ML doting on the hamster MC will shovel Meng points into your heart! I was going kyaaa kyaaa kyaaa with every chapter!

Still, this story has a plot. Hamster jewelry design, hamster diarrhea, hamster in a Ferrari, hamster given an ipad, hamster being an online gaming champ, hamster given a palace,... more>> hamster and cat love (?) I don't know, MTL was brutal.

I really can't wait for the MC to be a human again, coz the ML is really a lonely soul. But maybe that won't be happening coz... well you'll see. <<less

It was a cute start, I liked their interactions and the interesting puzzles about the mysterious designer.

Until we got back to his human body, that MC is not smart but not s*upid! It is supposed to be bad in dealing with others, betrayed by his company and his elders so he should be more careful because of it. But when he returns to his human body, he seems to have become completely idiot?
and ML do not tell him secrets and not his background and treat him like a fool in my eyes, Even if he was an idiot, he should tell him, this is the presumption of trust between the spouses, and that ML did not apologize for what he did to MC after he return to his human body, and even that he treated him again like a fool and did not tell him anything. And It is amazing that MC never noticed that someone was breaking it from behind and therefore did not accept any company, did not he watches a lot of dramas and serials?

THE CUTEST STORY EVER

Imagining cute fluffy hamster showing his bu*t in tantrum... I died. Never thought that I'll be concerned of a hamster's life this much before. 10/10 this story clears my acne and gives my skin some healthy glow.

While it's a really cute story and I've gotten quite a few laughs, I have to admit that the MC really gets on my nerves.
I know it's a popular trope to make the uke really naive (bordering on s*upid) and rarely has a will on their own or rarely acts on them, since submission is part of their nature, but this novel's uke is just too s*upid! Like brain-dead s*upid, to the point that it's actually felt a bit too forced.

It was fluffy and enjoyable until it wasn't. (Spoilers Alert!)

I started to feel off about the main characters and plot after XY regained his human body.

1. I understand that XY is a gifted designer with social shortcomings (bordering sociopath), but I can't understand why his character which is suspicious, etc. Is not angry when YJ kept so many things from him. Not to mention the inconsistently when he trusted YJ with all his heart, but did not trust him enough to share or talk about his problems. If author... more>> intended for him to be a sheltered genius, don't let him delve into the conspiracies at all. If author intended for his character to change, fine, but don't leave so many plot holes!

2. Then the male lead. Everything is seriously fine until XY became human again. Why. Is. He. Not. Treating. Xiao. Yu. As. A. Human.? I can understand if he still sees XY as a pet, but he has been in "love" with him for years. I understand if he wants to 'shelter' XY, but then he left XY is s*upid, traumatizing situations (and I can't even comprehend why the timid genius XY is still not traumatized yet) like that one time during the conference where their relationship was announced. I understand if author set him as an overbearing CEO character, but is that all his setting? That the reason he exists - just to be overbearing and bury the plotholes in the background? Then when everything is settled, the supporting characters who have been foreshadowing since the start would just dropped the fact bombs? Total turnoff.

To sum up, I can't fully brain this novel.

Now that I have ranted my anger, I feel better. Basically, whoever looking for fluff regardless of the plot, can read this novel. But those who wants a good BL, turn around and choose another. Right at this chapter, I am thinking of 75% dropping and 25% continuing this book. Perhaps, after reading to the end, I might change my views so don't take this review too seriously. Beauty is in the eye of beholder. <<less

Hm...I wonder what will become of our Fishy?! Cute story so far with a cold/mean (but doting) ML and a cute, furry body for Fishy! Lol the whole "tearing down the rival company's status while hamster" is a bit interesting (and distracts from the cute!), but hopefully it won't make the story too fluff-less!

Note: this entire thing is a spoiler

For people who want to read a story about the human-turned-hamster, I advise you to stop when you reach where I’m at: chapter 150.

For one, that’s where the assures story ends. As in the hamster-turned-back-human and CEO fall in love part (if this counts as a spoiler, I’m sorry, but it was bound to happen anyways).

So, up to about 125 (or something?), the story’s about the interaction of an overbearing CEO and his pet not-so-hamster. Aside from the fact that it sometimes was borderline... more>> beastiality, I found this section cute.

However, once MC turns human, it all goes to sh– the gutter. Haha...

Spoiler

We get info dumps about big companies. We get MC whining about his sorrows with a spiritual cat until he discovers some weird ancestral genetic hamster thing, which didn’t really need to exist.

We get ML being a typical overbearing CEO and getting revenge for his not-so-dead hamster... until he realises who MC is (stress rate 100).

We get MC being an idiot and meeting up with his plagiarising senior who clearly has bad intentions. Thankfully, ML is just about on time to save MC from something that might’ve scarred him for life.

Later, MC spills all his life’s secrets to ML, while ML decides not to tell MC anything under the excuse of “protecting” him. Of course, each time that MC discovers a truth, ML pushes the blame on his friends.

Then, MC becomes ML’s home decor for a while.

Anyways, the cat suddenly appears again with a whole new personality from at the start (much more arrogant despite being abandoned by its previous owner and forgotten).

I’ve decided I should stop here, where MC’s joining YL (ML’s company). This is because, according to everyone else, this becomes ML destroying other families/organisations with random info dumps about random aristocracies and magical gene stuff. Meanwhile, MC’s as clueless as most home decor because ML won’t tell him anything. Yeah, no.

[collapse]

But, yeah, that’s it from me. I’m not willing to go through another 100 or so chapters just to read about stuff that makes this story have a low rating.

Overall, stop by 150, and ye shall live a decent life with minimal plot holes. <<less

It started off a 5 as I had loved their fluffy interactions. The MC was haughty and adorable, but once he went back to his human form it was almost like a hamster turned into a human for the first time instead of a human returning to his body.

Ugh, I'm not one of those idiots that think bullies are cute, so this ML is super dissatisfying. Verbal abuse is still abuse, ok? And his bully tyrant actions are no better. I also don't like this type of MC who takes it all and asks for more either. Fight back if you're a hamster! You have the mind of a man. Pit that that jerk to death! In addition, and probably more to the point, the direction of the plot is super obvious from the very beginning. I won't... more>> include the obvious deduction in case other people haven't got it yet but pitting yourself is definitely not good either. Really disappointing cuz I was really looking forward to this one after reading the summary and reviews <<less

its cute, but I can't really bring myself to like the ml.
Spoiler

i just find it aggravating that he didn't apolgize directly for all the misdeeds he did to the MC. He didn't own up to wanting to sue the MC for hamster fishy's 'death', blaming it on his lawyer. He said he had a flight that was taking place the very next day, as MC was in his care, but really he has 3 private planes. He tried to make MC sign a marriage contract and used his 30m debt to persuade him into being in his company. Guess im a sucker for a caring ML because overbearing presidents aren't my thing. Hes doting to the point of suffocating. I give it a 4 at best, docking 1 star for the ML himself and for how he went about his mistakes. Its cute, completed and the story is unique.

I can't wait for the translation. I decided to mtl. The story got darker and sadder toward the end. But it has a happy ending.

The reason why I gave 5 stars. The characters was well developed including the side characters. The plot was solid with surprising twist. I love the twist. It's kind of unexpected for me. I normally able to guess the plot ahead of time but this story keep on giving me a surprise at every turn. There some family drama, power struggle plus lots of sweet and... more>> cute lovey-dovey moments between ML and MC.

Spoiler

There mentioned of child abuse, illegal genetic research, etc. Both ML and MC have a sad and terrible childhood. There a terrible secret hidden 20 years ago which affect both ML, MC and other side characters.

Final eval: Overall a cute fluffy story with an excellent translation. I can't how many hours of hamster videos and hamster mansion architect videos I've watched on Youtube when reading this book....

MC is a bit clueless/ditzy in many other areas (other than his specialty, being a design genius). It might seem like a downgrade after MC is no longer a hamster, but overall I found that part to be played up for the humor. ML also gets a few of those "dumb" moments a bit later too, so it's not... more>> completely one-sided.

I now have a soft spot for "humans-transformed-into-animals" genre. If you are a pet owner, I highly recommend. The ML is equivalent to one of those extremely passionate pet owners who takes pet photos all day long and mercilessly spoils his pet. If you liked movies like Ratatouille, I highly recommend.

The MC was once a genius designer-now-turned-hamster and...
Spoiler

his identity as an 'intelligent' hamster who can understand humans, play games, and chat online eventually gets exposed to his 'owner' and there are even more ridiculously fluffy moments between human and hamster bonding together.

[collapse]

There's a great balance to the fluffiness between human and hamster with the background mystery. The MC who was a famous chief designer, in his previous life was greatly suppressed by a mystery designer who he thought was plagiarizing his ideas. As a hamster, he becomes a bit of a detective!hamster and tries to find out the identity of that person.

There's corporate sabotage, spying, hidden identities, long-term coma patients and all kinds of dramatic reveals scattered in the fluffy background of pet owner. Nothing is dragged on for too long, this is a book made for fluff, not drama/angst. <<less

It was okay. You could probably read this if you have nothing else to do, but the novel got really boring and lackluster after a fourth of the way through, since it felt like they were just repeating the same things over and over again. I skimmed the last 50 chapters, and I was slightly disappointed since it wasn't really a satisfying ending. The plot also progresses really slow and the MC's character development was just nonexistent and his personality actually downgraded. In the beginning, he was a hardworking designer,... more>> but at the end he was just a white lotus aka a crybaby. I did like the beginning since it was really cute and the MC and ML's interactions were heartwarming. But I would recommend reading this and then dropping it or skimming through it when it feels like you are forcing your way through the chapters. <<less

Ok, this novel was super enjoyable for the first ~100 chapters.

Characters: 5/5 -> 3/5

I really liked when MC was still a hamster. At that time, he had a very distinct and strong personality, with the determination to do his best while simultaneously being adorable. ML also never really showed the stereotypes of the typical classic cold overbearing CEO but was more straight-forward and indifferent. These characters felt refreshing compared to stereotypical personalities of the cute ignorant little bottom and possessive crazy top. I also really like that their relationship was... more>> not the "love at first sight" at all, but was a gradual getting to know each other. On top of everything, their past and the fate between them slowly unveils itself.

However, after MC becomes a human, his IQ feels like it immediately went down the drain. Both MC and ML became their stereotypes, losing the strong advantages of their characters and becoming much more commonplace. MC becomes quite annoying since he is a little too dumb and more importantly way too proud, guiltlessly causing trouble for others, while ML is too secretive.

The characters are getting better now though, so I'm holding on to hope. Through everything, the side characters are pretty great, and their interactions with the ML is pretty funny. They have their own flavour, and I'm particularly curious about Nan Chan's character.

Spoiler

It interests me because it seems that although she's in the place of the typical rich girl that wants to marry the incredible ML, her personal feelings seem slightly different? Leaning towards genuine care for his being, that may be more familial than romantic, and her own powerlessness to oppose her engagement. The contradiction between what she appears to want and her own actions is strange. So far, there hasn't been that many appearances of her character though, so I'm excited to see more.

[collapse]

Plot: 4/5

Again, I really enjoyed it while he was a hamster. I think any more would have felt like it was dragging on, but the length of the story was great. In fact, even after he turned back, I don't have too many problems with the plot. However,

Spoiler

My main issue is why does he have his ability after he became human again??

[collapse]

It just seems like a foolish way the author is trying to add meng, but I don't feel it adds anything to the storyline besides making it even more incredulous and lowering feeling of realism and taking away its slice of life or modern qualities.

Writing & Translation: 5/5

No problems, thanks for the translator's work! <<less
