Before becoming a widow, Hua Yang disliked almost everything about her husband. She disliked his sullen face every day, disliked him for lying on the bed full of sweat, and even disliked his lack of restraint at certain moments.

But when he really died and she became a widow, Hua Yang actually began to miss his good qualities one by one, such as his figure walking steadily in the heavy rain carrying her on his back, such as his blazing hot chest in the cold winter.

Once reborn, Hua Yang decided to be nice to him.

Reborn After Widowhood offers a fresh and unexpectedly grounded take on the rebirth trope. Unlike the typical wronged heroine out for revenge, Princess Hua Yang enters her second life not with grievances, but with regrets—many of her own making. What makes this novel stand out is its nuanced portrayal of flawed characters. Both leads are proud, stubborn, and imperfect, yet neither is vilified. Instead, the story examines how ego, miscommunication, and unspoken expectations can quietly erode a marriage.

This isn’t a tale of instant love or dramatic vengeance, but a slow,... more>> thoughtful reconstruction of trust between two people who once failed to understand each other. The romance doesn’t sweep you off your feet—it grows on you, steadily and sincerely, as the characters learn to listen, yield, and support one another. The prose is elegant and restrained, with emotional depth tucked beneath its quiet moments. I especially loved the FL’s hilarious admiration for her father-in-law and the ML’s older brothers—and the ML’s own knowledge and reactions to the said idolisation. The extras were also surprisingly rich and well thought out. Deeply satisfying.

This novel by the same author as Reborn Lady (also a gem), and she excels at character-driven stories filled with mature relationship dynamics, subtle humor, and a refreshing lack of melodrama. Her novels are truly a treat—offering not an escape from reality, but an invitation to reflect on it. In the end, this is a story about second chances—not to undo the past, but to do better because of it. <<less

This is a new twist in an old trope - unlike other reborn people our protagonist is NOT wronged at all. Heck, I think she wronged more people because of her prissiness. But she is and good person from her bones, her last life prissiness is not entirely her fault. It's ML fault for being smelly, and stubborn. But if you look at their age it's understandable for them to be so headstrong and believe themselves right all the time.

I like how or MC and ML both learn to put... more>> down their ego and play nice with each other. In the last life eventhough they are not nice to each other they at least respect each other as a person and ML never forced her on the bed and MC never forced ML to do anything just on her prestige as a princess.

Eventhough in the last life nothing actually horrible happened to our MC she still tried her best to rectify the wronged that happend previously. And even some these 'wrongs' are the fault of these people themselves for being cavalier with their health and not being a good teacher. So MC basically try to save these people from themselves. MC even with all her prissiness do all these troublesome things because she really has a good heart. That's why I like this MC. <<less

I would give this 6 stars if I could. This is a masterpiece. This is a perfect book. I actually don't know what to say.

I think the only book that is equivalent to this in my experience in depth, writing, character development, detailed information, emotionally moving characters, underrated but realistic reasonings, etc. Would be maybe silent reading but even then I think silent reading has a little bit too much drama in comparison to this one. This book is actually really chill. But a lot of things happen and it's... more>> all meaningful and not boring to read.

I don't like the ML. But I learned to appreciate and like him. I like the MC and I like how the author inadvertently discusses how equality in a relationship in ancient China can look like through her. And she is constantly used as this important foil against every other ordinary woman who has to depend on a husband. I love it. When I say I don't like the ML, I don't like his stereotype but he is not a stereotype. I actually really like him. Because the author made him more than just the typical wolf type. When he does something wrong, the MC calls him out. When the MC does something wrong, he calls her out. But they don't actually do something wrong. They do something wrong in a valid perspective of the other person. They actually aren't technically wrong but the author allows us to see so many different perspectives from different people's personalities and backgrounds. And the author allows us to understand it and allows it to move the story forward with such incredibly detailed and smart characters. And this is for every single character in this book. Not just the leads.

I genuinely cannot believe this book. This book is perfect. If you're looking for something that is not really dramatic in writing but has the emotional impact and incredibly detailed character writing, then I don't know what else to say again. Because this is it genuinely. The events are technically chill: this is really mostly about one family (chen) and how a kind, but rightfully prideful princess takes care of both her in-laws and her immediate family in her second life while getting to know her consort better. What makes me like the ML is that he is actually not always right but he's actually not wrong either. He is totally like a f*ckboy to me sometimes, But he isn't trying to pretend to be anything more than he's not while also having the confidence and intelligence to stand by the princess.

This is so long I can't even describe this book really. It's a masterpiece. If you're looking for dog blood this is not it and I'm so glad that this book is just absolutely incredible. <<less

Nothing is likeable with the MC so far. She's useless, bossy, loves to belittle people and her sole purpose so far was to open her legs to the ML.

This novel is not my cup of tea.

You can be a princess without being unreasonable and utterly disgusting. What a waste of her rebirth.

This story definitely has a message about marriage and the myth of love at first sight. While the FL and ML were definitely attracted to each other at first sight, their marriage fell apart because neither communicated their needs. With the FL being reborn and understanding her husband better, they manage to reach a compromise where they keep their pride but their needs are met. And even if they're not classically "in love", they're partners for life and I think that's just as important.

Spoiler

I think it also really makes sense for the FL to not be able to prevent her father's death. Unlike the man-made tragedies she fixed before, her father had been ruining his health even before she was born. It was only a matter of time before his body gave out, and no scheme can undo that.

It's also very good character building because we know the FL values her immediate family greatly, so even if she subconsciously knows this death is inevitable, she still has to stubbornly try.

I really enjoyed this novel!!! Also I absolutely love the ML. I had my doubts when reading the reviews but after reading the novel myself, I really like the ML. He's a rare species in CNovels.

He isn't the cold domineering CEO type. He is a rascal. A mischievous guy who talks sh*t a lot. But he respects his wife and dotes on her with his actions even if his mouth is spouting nonsense.

FL is an arrogant princess who has lived in privilege and luxury for a long time. In her... more>> second life she tones down her arrogance and becomes more involved in people's lives. She may seem annoying to some but I think her personality is refreshing. She has been born to privilege with people serving her every whim. She's royalty and she knows she's like, high ranked. She's not arrogant in that haughty way. She's just really high classed. That's the only way I can explain it. So she had a lot of conflicts with her more down to earth, rough demeanor husband but they work it out in this second lifetime and it is such a fun ride!

Its seriously a great story that made me laugh so much because of the antics between characters.

All the characters are quite distinct with their own personality quirks. The chemistry between the two leads are so great too!!! No need to say I love you, they demonstrate it through actions and care for one another.

The story has a lot about political maneuvering. How to reform the nation and the intricacies involved in it.

I love how our FL advises important people. She may be reborn but she has no golden finger and she's not omnipotent. She does what she can to change things and hope it works out. I enjoyed the journey.

Also 11/10 BEST ML. Seriously give him a chance to the end. <<less

I very much like books in which characters have visible flaws yet end up still being good at heart, and this is one of them. In other words, it's notable for both main characters being petty and sometimes dislikable! It's crystal clear why their marriage fell apart the first time around.

FL, the Princess Hua Yang, is beautiful, aloof, dignified and clever... and also germophobic, prissy, uptight, and spoiled.

ML is tall, handsome, street-smart and strong... and also insecure, unwilling to admit it, rebellious, and incapable of saying anything nice.

But she's also... more>> kind, generous, and bent on saving the people she cares about. He shows his affection through actions even while mouthing off. When he broods about things she snaps at him because she isn't a mind-reader; when she does things in secret, he gets angry and worried. Neither of them completely change the flaws in their personality even up until the end of the book, they just begin to understand and accommodate each other.

All this makes for a pretty mature, realistic-feeling romance, like a real life marriage in which no matter how much you love the other person, sometimes you get mad at them for leaving their work boots in the middle of the living room, you know? (looking at you, husband!!)

Since almost all of the main characters are also similarly well-balanced, the driving forces of conflict in the novel are mostly about friction between people, and how good, well-meaning people (and even some not-so-good ones) aren't always perfect. On the whole a very enjoyable, character-driven experience. I loved it and would recommend it! <<less

I can't even start to say how beautiful this story is.

It is a mature story about being a husband and wife, sharing joy and sorrow.

MC time travel led to the past, 3 years after ML died. MC then tried her best to change her prejudice, tried to treat ML better, and erasing her brother hate to ML's father. What she didn't know that compromising is the start of something new. MC and ML relationship slowly grew to become a real husband and wife in every sense of the word.

I love... more>> almost all the important characters here, they each have a lovely side.
    • MC is outwardly arrogant but a very very very rationale and wise princess.
    • ML sounds boorish, but in fact he is the joker of the family, very smart, cheeky and daring. He is my favorite character this time.
    • MC father is lustful but very very loving to his children. It is a rare thing to see in someone on his position.
    • MC mother in turn is the strict parent. Very wise but strict nonetheless
    • ML father is very strict, maybe more so than MC mother, but he is a rare wise and loyal minister
    • MC brother is a conondrum. He was growing up and very easily influenced. MC first life and second life is the mirror on how his personality will be if influenced by some factors. He is very loving brother, nonetheless.
They are only some of the more important characters mentioned, but they each have a depth to their characters rarely seen.

MC and ML will finally Have a child in the last chapters and I love the epilogues but the last one left me kinda hanging. <<less

It's a captivating story with good character development and smooth plot. Well-written too.

MC and her love interest are not typical likable/perfect individuals. MC is a haughty princess. Her love interest is an oaf. Each has their own fault, and that is what makes the story interesting.

I would recommend this novel for fans of ancient chinese historical stories, also those who seek stories with unforgettable pairing & fluid plot. Everything develops well until the end, though the extra chapters are really unnecessary.

i mtl-ed this to the end, and I am quite satisfied! As someone who quits a story if it gets annoyingh, me completing it means the story has been appealing enough to me

The main couple is cute, and there aren't any serious major issues that happened between them, just two people with different styles living together. He is willing to cater to her and it is quite sweet, and he knows that she shows her affection with action, rather than words.

Her relationship with her family and in-laws are both nice... more>> to see!

I prefer this type of writing style where the plot and the main couple's relationship move the story along, rather than misunderstandings. I think the 'main' villain being who it is and the motive is... Not what I would be a fan of in terms villains, but it is not unheard of in reality.

I have my minor issues with the story, but it was an entertaining read anyway! <<less

Hmm really over my expectations and can keep me hook from beginning till end

What I like

1. That bickering between FL and ML, is quite real..2 people with different standard, one is so stick to etiquette other is etiquette defier, one love cleanliness to the bone, one so rough..

They despise each other in first life but actually the both love each other but because they can't solve their difference so their relationship is not good untill one go away.. It's kinda reminder for us to try our best to meet in... more>> the mid when we has differences with our loved ones

I won't blame this to ML or FL bcuz both has their background and that's happen IRL too.. Don't focus to who right or wrong but need both has willingness to meet in the mid..

Fortunately in the second life they can adjust each other..

2. ML Confidence and shamelessness but also his ability to read situation

3. ML father situation when he think not only about the country but also the emperor.. Through this we can see the author deliver the politic problem but not in boring way.. Nor in too complicated..

We can still understand it, the dilemma and intrigued.. Not too complicated but not too shallow

And also ML father really an example on how we need to do parenting not based on our opinion about what good to our kids but also look for their character and know when to stop or less strict

4. The ending so satisfying

5. Relationship between ML and FL and their family

I don't like

Only 1 thing.. Too much repetitions about FL beauty hahahah

This is a rare kind in this plot type novel

Entertaining, insightful, funny, fluffy.. Really not regret spend few days reading this <<less

I really loved this story!😍

Thanks to the author for this story and also to the translator for all your hard work. 🤗 I especially love the funny bickering between ML & MC. So much fun banter, truly enjoyed it. ❤️ All the characters are well rounded and very realistic, along with all the intricate relationships between everyone. Very well done!👌🏻

I am so happy I was able to stumble upon this story. 🥰 Once again, thank you for this great story! 🩷

P.s: I would like all the readers to not be biased towards... more>> the ML coz of some negative reviews against him and use your own judgement after reading the story. In my case, I really really like the ML, very understanding, one of the best in novels I have read so far. 😘 Thankfully I am not someone who gets biased after reading negative reviews as I have seen many such cases, where many top liked reviews say such and such but the result is something else. So I would recommend readers to also not be influenced by any bad comments and make your own final decision.

Just give this story a try. It's really good. 🤩 <<less

This book is enjoyable. The love story is nice and the political aspects are intriguing, not dull. The main character is a princess in title, personality, and actions. She grows as a person but remains true to her original personality after being reborn. The male lead is open-minded and playful. This couple has a good physical relationship, but their love story develops gradually (slow-burn). I put in the spoiler what their relationship dynamic is for the first 80 chapters. They eventually fall in love but since the MC... more>> is a major tsundere while the ML is a very informal person, there isn't a dedicated scene where they exchange love words.

Spoiler

ML was nice to MC, but he didn't say sweet things and often say absurdities. MC thinks he's obsessed with her body, and she's not sure if that's real love. She believes that if they ever split up, ML would be with another beautiful woman. She doesn't love him but doesn't find him unpleasant anymore. Her feelings are more like satisfaction. She's happy with him because he fulfills her needs, helps her when required, and they're intimate unless she's not in the mood. They're both content with this arrangement.

[collapse]

The side stories are not as good as the main story, though. I felt like it would have been better if there was an epilogue after the main story instead of the side stories. <<less

Many other reviews have talked about what's good with this novel, so not much I can add.

A lot to love about this novel, the banters is amongst the top. Lively banters between smart but petty people, it's so refreshing!

When I say petty people, I do meant it, there are a lot of petty characters here, but their pettiness manifests in bickering instead of evilness. That's the second top good points about the novel, the characters are far from perfect, they are arrogant and pretentious, but they are magnanimous enough... more>> to correct themselves. The characterisation in this novel is superb.

The translation is amazing! It's rare to find this level of great translation. It achieves the wonderful balance between preserving the nuances of Chinese historical background and the delightful reading experience for regular readers. Kudos to This Seat Is Bored! <<less

Just started reading. Still at chapter 10 but almost dropping. Im getting irritated with the MC. She said, she wants to start anew with the ML since she reaalized her feelings to late when he died in the previous life. Then why the heck aren't you compromising. It was like he has to bow down before she submits. Did you really learn anything from the past? You married a martial artist guy, not a dandy or a price charming type and you've known it since day 1 then youll say,... more>> you should have married the 3rd brother instead of him since he was considerate to his wife. Then who hunted what you eat? You hope for a harmonious life but you cant control your mouth. It seems like the ML married an ancestor instead of a wife. I know, there's a lot of 5 stars review or probably its still early. Ill skip this one and comeback someother time when Im no longer annoyed or probably skip chapters. <<less

A solid storyline and character development, this novel definitely is a gem!

MC is reborn but she is not someone who knows everything nor having supernatural power. She tried to avoid the same problems from happening based on the scattered information she had, because in the past life she was too ignorant about many things.

ML is funny and very creative, which many times made people around him speechless.

The story ends nicely with some side stories, telling what actually happened in the past life.

Summary: Princess Hua Yang was married to a man she disdained for being unrefined, until he died on the battlefield four years after marriage. Widowed but unwilling to remarry, Hua Yang can't help but miss the man she loathed and his absence highlights his few good qualities in her memory for the next three years. Suddenly, her esteemed father-in-law, the Chief Minister, dies and shockingly, her in-laws are accused of heinous crimes. Her younger brother, the new emperor, sentences them to exile and ruins their family despite her pleas.... more>> Collapsing from fever and sorrow, Hua Yang wakes up back in time to the first few months of her marriage and decides to live differently this time. She will try to look for her husband's hidden and sparing good qualities and safeguard her in-laws. As she tries to compromise with her husband, however, she finds that perhaps as loathsome as he is, he might not be that bad!

Why I'm Considering Dropping:

I wanted to write the review now while it's still fresh in my mind. I may not choose to continue reading this novel and here's why:

I did end up reading a lot more than chapter 37. I'm currently on Chapter 168 but I am considering dropping it again for lagging on.

The ML. A lot of people here seem to really like the ML but I can't help but see him as rather childish. To be fair, MC isn't particularly mature when it comes to him either. That being said, he is still fairly respectful of her boundaries and emotions even if he likes to tease her.

My issue with him comes from the fact that he is very much a brat. ML was raised in a family with only two generations of officials, but both his father and brothers are very intelligent and capable so their family has two first rank scholars and one third rank scholar from the imperial exam. His father is the Crown Prince's tutor and one of the Emperor's most trusted and respected officials. ML is the youngest in his family and growing up, all he heard was that he had to be like his father or brothers. Petulant and enraged, he decides to give up studying literature or sitting for the imperial exams in order to become a martial artist. Luckily, he's very talented in martial arts. Unfortunately, his family does not respect him for his skills. His father, a very strict person, is always accusatory or standoffish with him. He reacts to this by purposefully agitating his father further.

I don't understand how I'm supposed to take him seriously. Man got jealous and angry that MC's eunuch was good looking. He is also constantly picking fights with his family and lusting after MC. It's funny in a way, and it's not like I dislike the ML, but he's not the ML I want to read about.

I ended up liking ML more and more later on. Especially when he and the MC start to really care for each other. The way he cares about her but also respects her and is willing to go along with her random plans. I still think he's immature, but it's an affected immaturity and recklessness. He's very proud and stubborn but bends easily for her which is cute.

His Family: They might just deserve the award for crappiest family. The entire family dislikes and looks down on him. His father treats him as a disgrace and troublemaker; his eldest brother sees him as an unreliable brat, his other brother sees him as an idiot and potential scapegoat. Only his mother is any kind of good to him.

His family isn't that bad. In fact, his relationship with his eldest brother, mother, and niblings are very sweet. I was laughing so hard at how his brother sussed out information from him. His mother remains the person who cares about him the most in the family but that's not so strange. His father still irritates me though. I don't care how much of an old fox he is or how he understands their motives, if you can react to your child getting stabbed so logically, I'm suspicious of how much you actually care about this child.

There's this whole thing about how his father is such as good Chief Minister that MC really respects him, causing friction with her husband, but I fail to see the hype. He's smart and we are told that he is capable, but he is pedantic and unfair. His discrimination against his youngest son is harsh and so awful. He's also almost sycophantic towards MC. The author may intentionally do this in order to allow the reader to pity ML, but ML's attitude is also so annoying that I'm just speechless and irritated.

To be fair, the novel actually continuously addresses these flaws in the father. There are some pretty great parts where MC or ML are lecturing the father until he has to accept it!

MC. I don't have any major issue with MC except that she's also rather silly and kind of annoying. MC disdains ML because ML is a rough guy who lacks hygiene, doesn't care much about his reputation, and very obviously lusts after her. This is all so so valid, especially the hygiene issue! That being said, when she's decided to live with him well this life, she should try to understand him and treat him seriously as her consort rather than continuing to sigh over his mannerisms and attitude in comparison to his siblings and father.

Fundamentally, this is a compatibility issue. Someone else pointed out that this novel exposes some of the pitfalls of falling in love/lust at first sight, namely that you don't actually know or respect the other person. Even then, the incompatibility of the leads is too much for my comfort. ML is, put nicely, down to earth, determined, decisive, and devoted. Put rudely, he's too rough, too stubborn, too impulsive, and too obsessed. With an MC who is proud, noble, wise, and authoritative, or too arrogant, too stuck-up, too know-it-all, and too bossy. On top of that, they keep directly triggering each other because his mannerisms when drinking or s*x trigger her trauma from watching her father r*pe someone and her preference for self-contained, scholarly people triggers his lifelong issues with his family's pressure.

What's more annoying is that it doesn't make sense how they ended up together. The novel tells us that they were arranged by the Empress, MC's mother, and the Emperor. It's stated that it may be an attempt to make sure that her father-in-law, a formidable minister, is on her brother's (Crown Prince) side. This doesn't make sense because (1) her brother's teacher is her father-in-law, which in ancient China is a very powerful connection, (2) her father-in-law is a loyalist, (3) her husband is her father-in-law's least favorite son, and (4) MC is supposed to be the most favored and beloved princess. It makes no sense that the Empress and Emperor agreed to marry off their most favored princess to the least liked and rough-mannered son of a family already loyal to them, especially when they are not a military or aristocratic family.

Again, this is addressed within the novel too. A running issue is that everyone tells ML that he's lucky that his father is so powerful or lucky that he's good looking because otherwise, there's no way he's worthy of marrying MC. It's actually pretty interesting because it is part of a larger theme in the novel where we can flip the script of typical novels where the one in power is the ML and the person who is "lucky" is the MC.

This is why I'm probably going to DNF here. Except I didn't. Eventually I did really like the relationship between the leads. It grew to become very sweet and loving. BUT, the novel gets really lagging after the Emperor dies. It's just dragging on. MC is trying to destroy the 7 major crimes that the FIL was labeled with after death, and it's just going on and on. It would be better if there had been a complete list of this crimes somewhere but it only comes up when the Princess MC is actually dealing with one. <<less

The best Cnovel I've read in a good while. Absolutely loved it!

I'm sure I'll reread it again. But I am still sad that I won't be able to read it again for the first time😭😭😭

Our FL, Hua Yang, the most favored princess of the emperor, goes back in time after her husband's death who she despised for being ungentlemanly (lustful) and unrefined (men being men) before. And she redresses her regrets so that her loved ones can have a good ending.

I loved Hua Yang's character. She was arrogant and always... more>> maintained etiquette befitting of her status. She was a tsudere through and through. She may not even say one sweet word to the ML but her love for him was obvious.

The same can be said for our ML, Chen Jingzong. Let alone, Hua Yang, even I wanted to beat him up sometimes. His antics were a delight to read. Thankfully, he didn't follow the typical male lead route. He was unserious but never joked around in major matters. Even when Hua Yang was arrogant and despised him, and he became frustrated because of it, he never took it out on her, just called her "his ancestor" 😏😏 iykyk

One thing is for sure though. 24/7 without any break, this man constantly thinks about specific bedroom sports with his ancestor🤣🤣

Many may say that the disaster of their marred life previously was solely the FL's problem or the ML's problem. But I disagree, both of them were equally stubborn and hard-mouthed and even prejudiced towards each other. The circumstances also didn't allow them to have a sweet married life.

However, in the current timeline, the sweetness more than made up for it. Be warned, the romance here isn't much in quantity that it would give you toothache but there would be some lines here and there that would send you pink bubbles. On top of that, the bickering of the couple was one of my most favorite part of the novel.

Chen Tingjian, the ML's father, was another fascinating character. His relationship with his wife, Sun shi, was delightful. This old man couldn't take a break from his fourth son😆😆

Chen Jingzong was also jealous of Hua Yang's admiration for his father and brothers. I especially enjoyed the chess games between Hua Yang and Chen Tingjian, this pair of father-in-law and daughter-in-law.

And sorry for misunderstanding our Eldest young master Chen, Chen Bozong. This man is cold on the outside but hot on the inside for his wife, Yu Xiu. For Yu Xiu, I can only say, go girl!

The third brother, Chen Xiaozong, was also slick as fox. His banter and teasing of his brothers was hilarious.

And how can I forget Empress Qi, FL's mother? I felt bad for her especially towards the end. She didn't deserve her ending in the previous life. She was the typical Asian mother though.

But Emperor Jingsun's last moments really made me cry. He can barely be considered a good but lazy emperor. He was a scumbag husband. However, undoubtedly he was a great father. His concern and affection for his daughter, Hua Yang, was genuine. Even in his dying moments, he didn't forget to care for her😭😭

Yet, at the same time, I feel complicated towards FL's brother. He was a normal teenager who got easily influenced by others. But he was also an emperor who mixed personal with professional affairs. He was the only one who didn't get his just ending. I guess, it wouldn't have been possible either way.

Qi Jin was disgusting though. I am glad that for Hua Yang, he was just a passerby all along.

Phenomenal historical Chinese web novel. Would absolutely recommend. Kudos to the translator too for doing such a great job👍🏻👍🏻 <<less

I love how "real" MC and ML's relationship was.

Their marriage wasn't perfect, even after MC's rebirth. MC didn't suddenly become virtuous and gentle wife who would unconditionally indulge ML. She still critized ML's sloppiness and roughness but she also compromised to some other things that she found agreeable. For her who always abided by the rules, this could be considered a way to express her love for him.

ML wasn't without flaw either. He was far from gentle and considerate image that MC wanted from her husband but he was very... more>> attentive towards MC. He's also very lustful but he always did it with MC's consent.

Anyway, it's a happy ending but I'm still a bit sad about father emperor and father Chen.

Spoiler

Father emperor wasn't the best ruler or husband but he was very good towards his children. His death was a saddening thing to read even more so for MC, who despite already took so many measures to change her father's fate, still failed to do it in the end.

Meanwhile, father Chen wasn't also the best father for ML but he was a very good minister. MC managed to save his life but he was getting older day by day. The farewell in the end of the story was quite heart-wrenching to read but it was also quite realistic. People got old and no one could escape death, including the seemingly omnipotent father Chen.

I'm loving this novel!! The FL and ML are such amazing characters. They complement each other and ML is so funny! While FL is cold on the outside and proud but super warm hearted but still smart and real. The ML is funny, bold, lustful but also resrpectful and caring. I love this couple, they are both bad at expressing themselves with words but are really sweet through actions. The side characters are really great as well. They each have their own personalities and flaws. The characters feel real and... more>> have a much more complex personality and characteristics which makes me love this novel more. I haven't finished reading it so I can't say about how the author will choose to end it but so far it has been a great read. Totally recommend it

edit: I finished reading it and the ending is spectacular! It ends so perfectly and it wraps up so nicely. There is no unnecessary or unresolved plot points and although I would love to hear more about the side characters I'm glad it ended as is. This is a 10 star for me (which is rare) I usually can't finish novels because they get repetitive or dragged but this one is quite perfect! Loved it <<less

It’s a great story. Honestly no flaws, among all the stories I have read, it became my favorite. I love the FL, the ML and their chemistry. The romance is bittersweet but much more sweet than bitter. The ML is among my favorite ML as well.
