In her previous life, Zhang Yansheng wasted her life because of her scumbag father and stepmother—smoking, drinking, getting tattoos, and drag racing. Reborn back to high school, Yansheng, a rebellious girl, looks at the luxurious mansion and million-dollar cars at home… What’s with being rebellious? Isn’t it better to inherit the family business instead?

Yansheng is now determined to study hard and be a qualified heir of the family.

What about the stepmother and half-brother who are actually devils? What she wasn’t able to do in her previous life was to win the fight. So, Yansheng puts an end to her bad demeanor and follows the right path this time.

Scumbag Father: I will listen to Yanyan!

Half-brother: Sister, I won’t dare!

Half-sister: My sister is the prettiest in the entire universe!

Grandmother: Yanyan is the heir of the family!

The stepmother, with her precious son, cries bitterly, “The eldest child is obviously a daughter, so why will she inherit the family’s property? I gave birth to a son!”

Everyone says that the prince of the Yue family, Yue Song, is a cold-hearted person, cold as winter. Until that day, someone has seen his gentleness to Yansheng, gentle as water. “I want to talk to you about marriage between heirs of powerful families.”

A very nice and mature take on living your life twice. School life + character growth

MC - mature, cold and driven. She's very well developed. My heart really breaks for her because the only reason her second life goes so well is because she has the maturity and experience of her first life. She's never really had the fifteen year old experience she deserves.

I like how nuanced she is. She isn't immediately loving with her half siblings, instead she has the grown up understanding of knowing they're just kids and... more>> kids with shitty parents at that. You see her adult thought process and understand where everything went wrong initially. For the little brother, I'm also glad she knows he's a kid who can change. They're not close but she raises him far more than either parent.

(There's corporeal punishment of a child which I don't endorse but it's unfortunately common in Chinese households and MC isn't like overboard with it but fair warning for that.)

Novel is mainly MC reliving her highschool days and really understanding what her family dynamics are like and fixing what she can.

Romance is pretty subplotty. I like that MC fell in love with MLs gentleness from past and present. Very mature couple from the beginning. Steady if a little boring. The most interesting thing about their romance is MC and her aversion towards marriage. It's realistic and I like how she was always honest about it with ML and they still navigated their relationship. The fanwai is really sweet about it.

Spoiler

I like how ML let MC take her time with it, even having a kid out of wedlock and standing as a unit against their parents. MC knows what she wants and finally realising that marriage is a choice and a choice she can choose was lovely. It's a rare romance dynamic in novels and shows she really let go of everything at the end

[collapse]

Side characters are pretty good. Second? ML got way more screntime than ML lol but he became a good friend to both of them. He and MC are better in a brotherhood, MC feels way to much like his parent for them to work in this life.

TL;Dr : mature, slice of life story with good character exploration. <<less

[i have a lot to say, so this review is loooong]

this novel covered a lot of topics and hit each one out of the ball park

i was a little skeptical because the summary is just like any other reborn revenge chinese novel, but just from the first chapter alone, you can tell that this novel goes so much deeper than that.

... more>> every character had dimension, and no one was just a mindless side character or canon fodder.

zhang yansheng (our MC) met a pitiful end and was reborn. The first person she was frustrated with was herself. She regretted throwing away her whole life just to anger her father and spite his wife. So now, she wisens up and devotes her new life for self-betterment.

yue song (our ML) is great, he had my heart since the first chapter. He does come a little later in the story, but it was good timing in my eyes since MC was still figuring things out with her second chance.

xu lichen is a riot. He may have given a bad impression when he was introduced, but I promise you won't be disappointed with him later on!

her past friendship with him:

Spoiler

in her first life, they were both really close friends. Because of their similar homelife they understood each other the best. But because of terrible timing, they both experienced turmoil at a sensitive point in their life. As friends, they fed off each other's emotions which led them to skip classes, drink, and eventaully get expelled from school.

now that she's reborn, yansheng gradually began to care for him again, and soon became determined to become the reliable person they both needed in her last life. He grew to be a great friend for yanyan and their relationship dynamic developed in being a true iron-clad brotherhood! So touching :') haha

[collapse]

the main part is the conflict she brought to her family in her last life. Yansheng didn't see clearly in her last life, but now she can. Her half-sister doesn't deserve to be hated, and her half-brother isn't a lost cause. Even her father was less of a scum-father (i've seen worse) and more of a scum-husband. He is by no means competent, but he always had good intentions for his children.

now, reborn, yansheng is more sensible and acknowledges how her behavior had only harmed other people and ended herself. Now, because of the work she puts in and the progress she makes, her family is willing to support her, and help her grow into the outstanding person they knew she could be.

[for reference, the pace of the story:]

Spoiler

50 chpt for yansheng's summer before 1st year high school ➡ +50 chpt for her first year ➡ +30 chpt for 2nd and 3rd year high school ➡ +20 chpts for her in college & an epilogue (after college)

※MC and ML meet on chapter 120 :)

[collapse]

all in all, a wonderfully written story. Definitely deserves at least a 4.5☆ in my opinion

happy reading~ <<less

Underrated. Yes, our FL is a little op. But it's actually not yoo bad for the genre. I love how she reforms the lives of her half siblings and her ex bff. I love her "revenge". Love that she's not totally dependent on ML for revenge or prestige.

What I don't like is that the ending. I want more!!! Lol.

Don't expect instant, gratuitous face slapping. The face slapping and revenge, appar6are best served cold. I like the ethical premises of our fl.

Decent rebirth, don't know why the ratings are so low.

MC is not super OP except for maybe her super strength, which was never explained. I like how she does not immediately get revenge on the stepmother and her family does not automatically become a loving family. Her being repeatedly disappointing in her father was quite realistic, and her seeing her family from a new perspective after her rebirth was also interesting. She doesn't automatically become a genius, as she was a scum in her past life and was terrible at... more>> school, but her attitude is admirable and she does achieve good grades with hard work.

Romance was quite straightforward and not very romantic, but it was cute. <<less

Well, sorta split like ngl, it tried to be something but ended up missing the mark.

Like, makes MC out to be the victim of 'the wrong crowd' and she is 100% different from her plastic friends and bad boy first love, when she's completely the same. Rich kid with a messed up family, the only difference is she regressed and they didn't. It's all their fault she turned out 'crooked' when like, all of them enabled and encouraged each other, finding solace in diverging from a robotic lifestyle chinese education... more>> expects from a person. They all had incapable parents to parent them, were privileged and had bullying tendencies -MC included in the last point too-. Which one of them was a victim in it? There's also the problem of constantly tying looks to morality as dying hair, tattoos and style of original timeline MC are always mentioned as some kind of moral failing or symptom...

Spoiler

Then there is the way bad boy first love's mother is shown as being right to act the way she did to the mistress and illegitimate son, and the mistress's chara sorta broke at the end there.

[collapse]

I really loved the focus on bad boy first love and MC's relationship, and love that they remained friends, I loved ML's cousin's chara design, the sibling relationship. And in turn hated the false information about pregnancy, the idolization of young motherhood, the villainizing of women in every affair scenario shown, repeated statements about women and men being soooo far apart in strength and it not mattering if MC was a martial arts trained person in the OG timeline cause her 13yo brother could still overpower her, which is so f*cking false, casual racism, looking down on ppl who are from villages, looking down on the not rich, the way the ML kept referring to MC as a kid, as too young, yet still chasing and hooking up with her so long as he's not the one who makes the first move... There's also honest to god eugenics as a concept in it.... tho that could be just the tl.

The fact that they stayed faithful to MC's temperament bfr and after regression is good.

The score is 3* considering all that's wrong with it, bcs it legitimately tried to be solid but failed short bcs of the author's own strange world view. The tl is ok, like, it's fine there's some mistakes here and there but overall not bad. <<less

This story starts off strong with the MC putting effort into changing her future by studying hard and slowly raising in ranks at school and gaining control of her family.

And then it sort of just goes downhill with no character growth of the MC. Though the side characters get some character growth. It just ends awkwardly finished in my opinion.

Spoiler

The MC literally treats her little brother like air or a beast, still holding him accountable for his actions in her past life. Throughout the whole story, I don't really like how they treated him like throwable tr*sh or a nuisance that had to be controlled at all times or else he was just some horrible child. I understand that he was spoiled and he need to learn to behave properly and treat people politely. But all they did was beat him up if he didn't follow their rules and be tossed aside by everyone.

Also, the MC and ML's relationship makes no sense. They practically did the whole love at first sight. Then automatically understood each other perfectly with no issues. I am not even sure if there is a purpose to the ML existing besides flexing on how she got the "perfect man" to her cousin and peers.

In addition, the ML wants to get married but she keeps rejecting him due to her experience with her father. While, the ML is just willing to be understanding and patient with everything she does without asking for anything or an explanation. Even through the very odd moments she gets when dealing with stuff that happened in her past life. But she has never given him the same amount of concern whether it hurts him or not to get rejected nor will she even given him the chance to prove that he wouldn't be like her father. He is there to support her and not the other way around, which honestly seems pretty selfish. Even if I understand that she doesn't believe in marriage. I think she should at least try give more thoughts to how the ML feels.

A total gem!

It's a really well thought-out novel.

Of course it's not perfect, but it's one of the better ones I've read so far about rebirths.

I could ramble on about the things I love, but I will summarize it to these points:

    • Asian Family - Zhang clan, even though they are rich, they reflect how Asian families are. Hands down. The intricate dynamic, the complexity of relationships, the inner competition, and also unity. It's a complicated relationship.
    • FL is not vicious and too OP - she died young, and when she was reborn, she truly did get mature. But she did not suddenly become omnipotent (she did get strong somehow, but this is not an action movie, so). She DID worked hard and earned her place back. I especially liked her conversations with her grandma. Even sometimes with her Dad, because we can see how "adults" bullsht their way through life. Her bouts of self doubt. She's really just a young woman, trying to find her footing again and trying to be better.
    • Zhang Heling must be protected at all cost. That is all.
Overall, this novel is very rich in details and is complex, so it's not boring.

There's not much romance here, it's not until the 100+ chapters.

The face slapping is reasonable, and our FL doesn't waste her energy in pursuit of these face slapping events. Why tire yourself out for irrelevant people, right?

Spoiler

There's that dubious thing about her age and the male lead when they got together though, but she initiated and gave consent.

I mean like ehhh....

I liked the premise starting off turning over a new leaf and striving for excellence and all that.

I also appreciated the fact that she acknowledges that her dad sucks and doesn’t want to get close to him, and that she realizes how dumb her past mindset is.

... more>> But like also it’s kinda hard to get immersed into the story. When reading it she reads like a character, not like a person who’s story I’m getting caught up in. Like she doesn’t seem real.

With her sister she constantly brings up the fact that she’s the only who she’d tears for her at her funeral when everyone else says eff it. She mentions it serval times but is still very cold to her little sister. And I’ve read cold / awkward characters before that didn’t know how to properly express their emotions, but hers is just off putting. There’s no gentle to balance the harsh, and it’s like she’s trying to toughen her sister up, but picks the most random times to do it. And I honestly don’t understand why her little sister likes her. Besides buying a game console for her she’s pretty mean to her.

Like for example: She a 15 year old girl threw an adult woman (her stepmother) who is much taller than her across the room with one hand. Pinned her to the couch and choked her out. After which her dad is like it’s cool, shouldn’t have talked about her dead mom. Like he doesn’t even want to spank his son but is completely fine with his WIFE being choked / almost mu*dered. Everyone moved past it like that was a totally normal outburst. Like am I just supposed to slide past that?

And when she’s chastised by her father afterwards. They’re arguing about the fact her little brother stole from her, not the fact that she committed a violent crime.

And her dad after that act of over the top aggression is like yeah you should be in charge of your little brother’s education. The ONLY thing she did was spank him like he needed to be, and suddenly that makes her qualified for child rearing and raising him into a decent human being. And she also ASSAULTED his mother in front of him, wtf would you put her in charge of him. I would be scared of her committing another assault. Like this man just does not care about his children’s safety.

That’s just so unbelievably unrealistic that it was hard to take anything after that seriously.

And her dad and everyone around her. I get hell hath no fury like a reborn person realizing they wasted their life. But why is everyone so terrified of this 15 year old girl. Like she looks at her dad and his blood freezes because of the intense hate she has for him. But she looked at him in the exact same way in the past so idk why now it’s scary. She walks around like she’s in charge of everything or a character who everyone gravitates towards but really it’s only her little half sister. She also has an air of someone who walks around like they’re smarter than everyone else. But she was just a 21 year drop out who didn’t even get a high school diploma.... like ma’am bffr.

Basically I feel like the author is trying to hard to make her: different, tough, not like other girls, and independent. But they keep overshooting the mark to the point where I just look at her like some weird robot.

I really liked the idea and the premise but some realism needs to be added to the story, otherwise it’s hard to be immersed. <<less

The book has got me heated. This father is the reason people have daddy issues. This father is why boys become social issues. This father is why children run away from home. This father is the reason why men should use birth control. This father is the reason why people don't think fathers have any value as a parent in society. This father is the reason why people hate men. This father is the reason why the patriarchy sucks. The best part is the MC sees him for the hypocritical... more>> little bit*h of an excuse of a parent he is and uses him but just even reading about his thought process is f*cking infuriating. She's your daughter not your "first wife" in ancient china who had to take care of the household. It's f*ckin modern day tag ya old baby boomer. Trigger warning for those who have dad issues.

Honestly it sounds like I'm overreacting but no. Children deserve to grow up as children. The fact the father doesnt know how to do anything but put is d*ck in places to create problems that our girl has to take care of it's smh.
Spoiler

when he took her out of her class (the one she is working hard to stay in) just so she could control her half brother in a parent teacher meeting..... Oh bit*h I was like this man is the reason people think fathers are useless.

[collapse]

Anyways this book is still very good. Even though the father does do a character growth, I still don't think the MC had to be the one to basically teach to be a father. Regardless, the characters all have depth to some degree and the book is full of naunces despite the cliche premise. It's so easy to read and very enjoyable. It really is more meaty than you expect. It's like if you were to zoom into a family photo and see what you could get out of it from 3d characters. And you're surprised at how much of story they can tell you. Perfect for people who like family novels.

It's blasphemy that this book didn't have a romance tag before me. Yes I edited it. Holy sh*t the leads are so nature and good together... What ?why did no one ever? <<less

I agree with almost all of the reviews I've read for this novel, it's really a gem, a treasure read. It doesn't have that overly dramatic face slappings, the MC just deal with the trouble in an almost normal way but also her enemies will be overwhelmed by how she deals with them. The romance is also at just the right level like it's not overly sweet to the point they always throw dogfood that will sometimes make the readers cringe and almost puke with how sweet they were with... more>> each other. Her growth progress is also stable not domineering the ranks randomly in school and in this case, business world but she always steadily make progress not like other reborn novels where the MCs will take no. 1 spot wherever they are because they just became smarter and level-headed suddenly and they have a buff that knows what will happen in the future 'cause they are "reborn".

I also particularly liked how it reveals the struggle of growing up where the father is unreliable and incompetent as a father and deals with it rationally and I liked how she accepted her half siblings as siblings when she thought thoroughly and reasonably about things.

Overall, the character developments of the people in the novel are steady and have reasons with how they became like that. It's actually not boring to read it as I thought originally. The characters are not too OP except they are just rich and it's one of the nicest novel I've read 'cause it makes me feel like the plot is fresh although it's not, there's not too many scenes here that will make your blood boil and make your brain stressed. It is at most a relaxing novel to read. <<less

High 3 stars, Low 4 stars, give it a 4 because it reads well, the prose is very understandable for CNovel.

The novel has a very weak opening. Normally in the second chance genre the authors manage some gut punches that generate empathy for the protagonist. This novel the pain is there and the empathy does build but it just never hits a visceral level. The setup which is laid out in the synopsis is you have a neglected child of the first wife schemed by the mistress now second life... more>> who was setup for failure by circumstances and her own incapability of dealing with more experienced adults. She dies and gets her second chance, which is where the novel begins.

The early middle is by far the best part of the novel. It's a very nice take on the second chance and how someone might well deal with it if given the opportunity. Unfortunately the author spoils it by taking the easy way out and giving the MC a cheat that was just uncalled for. She already has the greatest cheat you could think of, the do over. Piling on doesn't make her more interesting.

What is great to see is the way she connects with her family and not only helps herself but helps them as well. The siblings are really adorable and made me want to reach into the novel and pinch their cheeks.

The late middle and end though are not so good. The MC has a personality shift that distances the reader from her and there is a pointless fight that just has you asking hasn't she won enough? Does everyone else have to suffer?

Bottom line it's pretty well written and a solid take on the second chance theme. It has a very deep take on what leads to regret in life. If you enjoy wealth p*rn give it an extra star. <<less

I like how fleshed out the father is; reminds me of mine.

Like he has is moments sometimes he's caring and sometimes he's cold-hearted. It sickens me when I see him being sad bout my mom's death and missing her (cuz I can't deny that his feelings are real) while still reconnecting with his ex-gf a month after mom died. And I don't know how to treat him so I just avoid him. I wish I was smart like MC.

A good read, a bit different from typical romance novels as MC and ML basically dont meet until half the novel is already over. Furthermore am I the only one who thinks novels where they only get pregnant/have kids in the last chapter/epiloge don't really deserve the 'pregnancy' tag

Honestly it was good apart from a few points, unfortunately those points happened to be important to me.

Classic rebirth story; MC experiences bad things and dies to turn back to her younger time. Goes on to correct her wrongs and punish the wrongs made to her in her future.

Just that it's actually just 1 thing she changes, and all the rest of the changes happen as time goes. And the way characters interact, you come to understand that just the fact that she is not her old self may even... more>> be enough and if she didn't change that 1 thing too. I did not like this. She did not do anything, but everything changed. Felt too incidental.

Also ML was too insignificant. We are told how awesome he is time and time again but he nearly did not do anything besides meet her. I don't like too overpowering, overprotective or controlling ML in general, but in this story nothing changed after they met and it felt unnecessary to include a ML that you introduced so long and did so little. <<less

The first 100 chapters were pretty good. Once the ML starts to chase the MC, I just felt so disgusted that I noped out of reading it. Dude is too old to be pursuing a teenager, it's gross. The weird alpha jokes were almost funny when referring to teenagers, but once it started referring to adults like that, it seemed cringey to me.

The main plus of this series is MC's interactions with her younger sister and her old school friend. Those relationships are actually written pretty well. But even within... more>> those relationships, some morally questionable events take place.

It's not a bad read overall, but I felt super disappointed with the romance and the moral standards of this story. <<less

It is surprisingly fun and realistic! There are bits of kind of... Chinese-author-weirdness with the writing... you know what I'm talking about, like when the frame of reference is just slightly jarring from the Western perception of things in terms of viewpoints on things like tattoos, modesty, sexism, etc.

Also a small pet peeve - the author clearly writes some pretty cool and awesome ladies into the story, but stepmother remains as a shallow gold-digging mistress throughout while dad gets some character development (scumbag to the end though! I'm glad the... more>> author didn't completely redeem him. You kind of eventually get to see him as a nuanced, developed scumbag). Still, stepmum was like only 18 when she started dating dad! That's just a kid, okay!

Otherwise though, it starts out kind of shallow and then I began to rather enjoy the unexpected depth as we continued on. A lot of characters grow and change, especially MC, and there's a surprising amount of introspection. I really liked the decision to have her only regress about 5 years - just enough to correct her mistakes, but she's still very young and has a lot of room to grow yet. Story takes a good hard look at parenting in general over MC's parents and the marriages/parenting decisions of several side characters, and I like that too.

It also has its moments of hilarity. Unfortunately, the romance is just so-so. It's alright when it's in the background and once they've been together for awhile, but when they were first getting together... ai. It felt very inorganic. However, though I felt the work had its flaws, I can't help but rate it highly. It was very enjoyable, and I like works that have unexpected depth. <<less

Enjoyed this tremendously. The gradual change in relationships, the butterfly effect of FL being more matured than her age. Very well plotted and developed characters.

This novel isn't about drama or some overarching grand villain. It's about how a slight change changes everything. It's about characters changing with it, and her world changing with her.

If you want something with faceslaps, over domineering characters, this isn't the novel for you. However if you enjoy reading about characters/relationship development whether it's between siblings, friends or lovers, then you'll enjoy this a lot.

The Good things:
1) Great character development for not only the main characters but the side characters
2) FL isn't crazy op. Aside from being more matured and having her experience in fighting brought over, she's got nothing much more
3) There's no dramatic plot twist or unneeded drama, or excessive face slapping. No dog blood drama
4) Characters are not black and white but shades of grey just like in real life. Just people looking out for their interest or acting according to their age.
5) Romance is a steady thing and more matured kind instead of the usual romance that's all passion and fire.

The bad things:
1) Romance and ML only appeared mid-way
2) It was a little strange that not more people wondered why she suddenly changed. (Although I can imagine that she wasn't close enough to anyone to notice/bother) or that tried to investigate why she changed.

A true standout in its sub-genre

I have to admit I never grow tired of reading reborn stories. Regardless of it being BG or BL, the clash between the wealthy, the scandals, the drama, the plotting, the face-slaps—delicious. Even if it's shallow, I'll still manage to take a bite. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.

But this—beyond my expectations.

It carries a similar premise to many stories, but the plot unraveled in the most unexpected of ways. It's rare to find a novel with this type of reborn plot device be so... more>> human. This is a story of truly learning from mistakes. A perspective of someone who's finally able to see the world not solely through their lens but others' as well. This is a learning experience for the FL & we're right there with her. We feel her regrets, her sentiments, her anger, frustration, apprehensions, & man am I so glad that she gets another chance in not only making her life better but others as well. She's a badass FL who actually gets her hands dirty rather than leaving up to the ML with the golden finger (as most stories usually end up).

Spoiler

The concept of marriage was dissected pretty heavily in this novel. I think the author was right to portray the FL having a sort of trauma & apprehension when it came down to the idea of marriage. Most of the time, other stories in this sub-genre would lightly brush off family trauma & go straight to marriage in the end. But FL & ML both come from weird family situations, both with marriage displayed in an abnormal manner. I'm not surprised that marriage was pushed aside & she ended up having a baby first. It just goes to show that the conventional route is never always the correct way to go. Really loved this breakdown & especially the ending conclusion to it all. It just comes full circle & I adore that.

Also, can I just note how frustrating FL's dad is? It's so irritating that he's actually a pretty multidimensional character, but is also aggravating as well. I appreciate that he's not necessarily the stereotypical scum father who is only abusive/neglectful towards his children. Rather, he holds a lot of different faces & (odd) rationales to bis behavior. Makes it interesting albeit incredibly annoying.

Overall

Except for the college arc, I reeeeeally loved it! The family drama was super engaging. The best friend's drama was both super engaging and made me emotional too! I was surprised, lol. The important characters who were given screentime had so much care from the author. I love how the perspective of the MC from her past life gave so many fascinating and new dimensions to the situation in her rebirth. All the characters in her family and her best friends were so 3 dimensional and real compared to... more>> most other web novels. I also love reading about the MC discovering these new dimensions now that she's an adult and far calmer than her volatile teen self. Ahh, it was so good and addicting to read! It is only some parts like the college arc compared to the rest that felt more lacklustre. This is probably because all the conflict between the people close to the MC has already been solved so the college arc was shorter and nothing interesting really happened. There wasn't a clear goal for the MC to strive for anymore because her family situation was very stable at the time and she had already gotten into the college she wanted. The vague goal is to be a powerful woman. The other issue I had is that the ML didn't have any conflict or bonding sessions with the MC when compared with her best friend and her family. I feel like it was still too insta-love. I still can't quite get the ML's personality. He feels like a generic perfect ML with no unique personality of his own. The best friend and other family members feel richer than him, which is sad. He doesn't get as much quality screentime either.

Writing/Translation

The translation I read is from Empress Translations. I feel that the translation is pretty good. There are some super minor mistakes in the pronouns and names but they are quite rare. The sentences flow quite well in English. It feels like it was written in English, not a translation. This means the writing is pretty good too. No choppy, awkward sentences here.

Pacing

The pacing is very good for all arcs except the last college arc where it feels like we have sped through more quickly. I feel like the MC doesn't really do any interesting things then.

Plot

The goal of the story is for the MC to make better choices in this life than in the previous one. Last time she died as just another statistic after ruining her life. Now, if she just lives for herself, she won't do too badly. We follow her from the summer vacation of middle school where she catches up on classwork, navigates her family and sets up the foundation for moving forward. She also deals with her family a lot here. Then, she enters high school, studies hard and lives the good student life she missed out on as a troubled rich kid previously. She also makes friends. And made a best friend. And deals with mean girl drama at the very beginning but that ends quickly unlike the stepmother in the last arc. She also makes her first investment! Then, when all the exciting things are concluded, she enters university, has a kid and finally gets married in the last chapter.

Themes/What Story Tried to Achieve

This really feels like a deliberate attempt at a second chance in life. The MC didn't completely change their personalities from the 1st life to the rebirth. She really did make those bad decisions so now there are a lot of reflections and thinking the MC does in her second life. Why did she do it? Was it worth it? She was such a kid then. All the regrets are reflected on and she is always sad that other people can't get a 2nd chance as well because it can really completely change their life direction the second time around.

On a side note, the reason I even chanced upon this story is that it has the Business Management tag. I really wanted to read about business and wealth making and the family drama faceslapping implied by the synopsis was just a bonus hahaha. So the few instances where the MC ventured into investing based on her 1st life's memories were interesting! It was detailed too, with added development for her grandmother and her father! It's so sad that that was the only occasion it appeared in the story when that was the whole reason I came here lolol.

Her complicated family members are so interesting to read about! I love to read about their interactions and how the MC navigates all that.

Characters

I love the MC and the characters that have a lot of screen time. They get so much character development with the MC. The MC herself is a sensible mature adult compared to everyone else so I like the perspective. She was calm when before she would have flown into a violent rage as a teen. It's also nice to see her face slapped by being so much more mature hahaha.

The side characters are all so vivid and unique. The family members are not so black and white like the father, who is a pure scumbag with no good qualities. Someone said the characters are so nuanced and I completely agree! In the eyes of a troubled teenager, the enemies are always out to get you and deserve to die but in the eyes of an adult outsider, they have good and bad, strengths and weak points. Like the cheating father who had a mistress before the wife even died but he can also be the silly overprotective dad to his kids and have wholesome mother-son memories with the MC's grandmother.

The 2nd male lead turned best bro friend, also has a history with the MC in the past but now he's only a teenager who thinks he's cool and da bomb. The first impression of him as the bad guy somehow changes throughout the story and he becomes best friends with the MC. He himself feels that he became totally friendzoned towards the MC and cannot think of her romantically anymore hahaha. During his part of the story, I actually teared up haha. I really liked his character arc.

The ML, hurmm. We meet him in the prologue, but we don't see him again until almost all of the interesting conflicts are resolved. And then there wasn't any drama for him to help or for the MC to help him so the level of connection between them that I felt was much less compared to the best friend. It's not that I want the best friend to get together with the MC, but I want the level of investment the author had in the best friend to be the same for the ML too. I don't feel close to the ML at all.

As for the bad guys, the stepmother living with the MC gave a lot of opportunities to faceslap her at home all the time. But the final one wasn't really satisfying, sadly. The others, they weren't really bad, they just had their own interests. The really scummy bad guys were taken care of too cleanly and distantly to feel any personal satisfaction. Well, this isn't really a faceslapping story most of the time anyway haha.

MC being too "young" to date the ML or the ML to be attracted to the MC is just waste. They have a 4 year age gap and only properly met each other and started dating when she was 17 they didn't do anything till she was an adult moreover her mental age was the same as him.

This rebirth story is the one that would be the most realistic I feel like. She was still the same but just with a new outlook of her past. She wasn't totally changed and she was still the same but you can say she "grew up" and became responsible mainly because she had seen the worst of life and her being better gradually saved a lot of lives.

This is a story which you should go for without pondering too much on if you've found it because you'll enjoy it a lot 😌 <<less
