Gu Yang read this youth campus novel. The male lead, Fan Yuan, had superior IQ, top grades, incomparable handsomeness, countless strengths, gentle temperament and was popular since he was a child.

But only Gu Yang, who read the novel from a God’s perspective, knew that this Fan Yuan was a person who was fake nice and was actually really ruthless.

All his gentleness and harmlessness was pretend, and all his politeness a mask.

Taking off the mask, Fan Yuan was more indifferent than anyone else.

As a fan of the book, Gu Yang fell in love with Fan Yuan’s domineering personality.

But when he woke up, the world changed.

Gu Yang arrived inside the book, was given a mission, given a golden finger, and wore a beautiful face in a prosperous time.

Mission: Capture Fan Yuan.

Golden Finger: The host can read a fairy tale every month to get a random cheat related to the fairy tale, which lasts for one month.

Gu Yang was happy, this feeling was very good. He read “The Mermaid” first to shed some tears and turn them into pearls to sell for money.

Who would have thought that after reading the story, Gu Yang dripped eye drops on his eyes, and cried for half an hour but did not see the tears turning into pearls.

In order to capture the target, he sneaked into Fan Yuan’s birthday party, and accidentally fell into his swimming pool, his legs turned into a fish tail.

Gu Yang was so frightened, his tears flowed out uncontrollably, turned into pearls and sank to the bottom of the swimming pool.

Fan Yuan happened to pass by and raised his eyebrows.

In a panic, Gu Yang jumped out of the swimming pool with a flick of his tail and pressed down Fan Yuan, flapping his tail threateningly at Fan Yuan, with a fierce look on his face; but tears kept streaming from his eyes, and the pearls smashed Fan Yuan’s face.

“Don’t talk! Don’t move! Don’t resist!”

Fan Yuan: “…” I seem to have discovered some treasure.

The story is really interesting, I love it because it's the first time I read something like this.

So I won't talk much about the plot, so you'll be curious,

But if you're looking for possessive and yandere ML with cute and sticky MC then this novel is for you.

This novel full of fluff and sweetness and... kisses.

I'm a bit confused as to why there are so many good reviews, and it's making me feel like I must've read a different novel..? I dropped this novel for a few big reasons.

1. The writing is crude and almost childish, similar to that of a Wattpad fanfiction, and I don't think it is the fault of the translator, although the translation is a bit weak itself.

The author only spent 5 short paragraphs setting up how the MC got into the novel, which to me was the first... more>> flag of bad writing. There are hardly any descriptive words or idioms used as well, which you can normally tell how good the writing is based on the usage of that. It's not very immersive to the reader because there isn't any picture being painted.

The way the story flows is also very jerky and random - something could be happening in one moment, and then suddenly another conflict/action is randomly thrown in, which to me is very disruptive and unnatural. It's like the author is setting up a mood for a scene, and then it gets totally killed because they're trying to shove a plot point into it.

2. The plot points are also weak. This had me quite disappointed because the summary of the story was very intriguing and I was excited to start reading, especially after looking at all the highly-rated reviews.

For example, the mini plot point of the fujoshi (Pan Fei) writing the fanfic of the MC and ML was incredibly strange. It's like it was just randomly inserted into the story just to cause conflict that doesn't even add much to the character development between the MC and ML.

Spoiler

I was particularly weirded out by how everyone including the author treated Pan Fei's actions like that of a normal person. You don't just write a le*d and messed up fanfic of two of your classmates (male or otherwise) who are very real people. And then when the MC and ML find out about it, they don't feel bothered at all? What? If my classmate wrote a fanfic like this about me and my desk mate/rival, I'd feel extremely uncomfortable. The author is quite out of touch with reality on this, and I think it's odd how encouraging they are about it. I understand it's just a novel and maybe this character is supposed to be some kind of self-insert for readers, but it was really weird and unnecessary.

3. The romance progression between the MC and ML is too fast-paced. I think this is not as aggravating as the other two critiques I have, because this is more up to personal preference. But I thought it was too fast how the MC and ML go from being rivals to being friends within a few chapters.

I can understand the MC's behaviour because he's a different person than the original Gu Yang, but the ML should be much more guarded against the MC considering their pretty heated history. The MC's favouribility points should not have gone up so quickly and it should've been more challenging. This was hardly an enemies to lovers progression.

....

I think all in all it's fair to give this novel a try, but for me personally I couldn't enjoy it, which is quite disappointing because I had high hopes going into this. The writing was seriously lacking and I think it could've been a promising story if it weren't for that.

(This is actually my second time writing a review for this novel because my first review got Thanos-snapped for some reason.) <<less

Reading this novel made me feel like there's a crazy for crazy, a weirdo for a weirdo.

Understanding FY's emotional burdens and coping with them has been GY's life and joy. And vice versa.. The sweetest thing for me is during that arc ... more>>
Spoiler

When Mrs. Fox's Wedding, FY had all the reasons in the world to be capable in hurting GY, (Not physically but torturing him thru the knowledge that GY love him dearl) but FY still chose not to hurt him GY. Even if he had the chance, even if he had all the reasons and the inevitable events happening because of the golden finger, FY still chose not to hurt GY. For me, that's the sweetest thing. Because love is knowing that you are truly capable of hurting the other person but choosing not to.

4.0 not bad.. This story is literary when two crazy people fall in love, I would say they crazy bcs they really don't give a ffff about everyone not absolutely not give a ffff but yeah.. Pretty much same, they keep lowering their tolerance to each other which is good the smut part ofc there's non :'' author maybe had many whoop whoop on it but the language is not good enough to make it spicy, the fantasy part actually make it spicy, but still just bite and lick and... more>> suck.. And kiss (ok it's bcs they still at HS) early romance component is good but for me it become a bit boring bcs they always at home ''play'' together and study.. And that's it.. I don't even know what their major when they in university, this novel Although have slice of life setting but it's lack many component on slice of life story, for me their possessive and obsessed to each other make the spices <<less

Read the tags and approach with an open mind! It's a pretty cute story with a very interesting premise, but I did get bored halfway through from how repetitive it felt and skimmed a large majority of the second half. Even still, there were really touching moments, so I would say it's worth the read.

I did not expect that I would love this novel! The whole journey was great. There wasn't a dull moment IMO. I love how distinct the characters are. Especially whenever they are influenced with the Golden finger. The novel is mainly focused between the ML and MC.

I highly recommend this! The translation is also good in my opinion. And it's completely translated on their website!

Like someone said it's basically a story about ML yandere + MC yandere and as expected they have love turn into a smidge of obsession.

Lots of cute bits but if you don't go for yandere... don't bother

This was a roller coaster of second-hand embarrassment and pushing through MC's and ML's outrageous PDA moments. I somehow made it through to the end aaaand... it kinda grew on me in the end and it hurts that I somehow accepted it haha.

Ultimately, not great but if you want brain dead romance and have a kink for shameless male yanderes then this may be the one for you! And no explicit scenes but they "exercise" too damn much after ML reached 100 points of affection with MC.

Wouldn't read this again... more>> but my curiosity was fulfilled so now I am done with this. Good luck my friends.

Oh. And here are the fairy tale stories. May not be in order because I don't wanna go and verify but here ya go...

I don't like the protagonists falling in love first before the ML due to how they act and try to get them to like them back. I often feel second-hand embarrassment for them and sometimes, even frustration that I end up dropping the novel. However, this one is one of the rare few that I quite like reading, despite having the trope of the MC falling first. Perhaps it's because of his cute setting and his soft yandere characteristic that complements ML's hidden domineering yandere self, who once he... more>> falls hard, he's the type to never ever let them escape from him, wanting him for himself (yk, that kind of obsession, but although he's that kind of ML, he will never hurt the MC. He can restrain himself for him.) Or perhaps it's because it has a fantasy setting, which is one of my fav genres, or maybe due to the cheat, which made this story more interesting for me and to which if not for that, I know to myself this would've gotten quite bland and boring for my taste and might've dropped it midway. But now, all is well. I ended up finishing it and it was a good read. I even ended up crying due to that one scene:

Spoiler

That bunny fairytale arc wherein the MC thought he was pregnant only to find out as the month slowly comes to an end that he wasn't and cried for the children he had been waiting for and anticipating their existence in his and ML's life. Then came the ML, who already realized and knew about the false pregnancy (and the misunderstanding that caused it) a while after MC told him he may be pregnant, but temporarily couldn't do anything about it, due to MC's expectations. Thus, he decided that until the truth arrives or such, ML will make stuffed bunnies or smth similar to that which would represent the children MC cared for, loved, and had been waiting for : (
