writing was ok, worldbuilding was ok.. Extremely rushed ending.

If you like reading books seemingly written by 13 year olds, then this is right up your alley.

Whole novel is written as wish fulfillment for a young male adolescent with raging hormones. All female characters love him, even the one sentence cameo extras drop a one liner to remind you how irresistable the MC is. Everyone accepts him as the s*x crazed pen*s that he is and no one finds it strange.

A nice read. MC is shameless, lecherous with questionable morals but his interactions and journey have been very entertaining. Subplots are integrated seamlessly in the story progression and my only qualms are that the system is not fleshed out and that the ending is rushed (not a terrible ending). Having said that, I do like the author's sense of humour a lot. Overall. Was a good read and I look forward to the author's next work.

This was so fun.

The title is quite misleading since the General Wife doesn't really play a major role story-wise, but it was still so fun. The main character is flirtatious but I wouldn't really tag him with "pe*verted protagonist", and the author does a good job giving us different points of view throughout the story rather than 100% focusing on the main character alone.

The only reason is not a 5 stars is because the ending felt rushed, it was still a good ending but the author could've played around for... more>> 10-20 chapters more to add some extra depth to it, not to mention there are no side-stories after.

When you finish the story you find yourself happy but not quite satisfied yet. <<less

Well translated and entertaining novel that has an extremely rushed but somewhat satisfying ending.

The reason I took away a star from the rating is because of the extremely rushed ending of the novel which could have been stretched for a dozen or more chapters to give a detailed and conclusive epilogue. However the extremely compressed ending is still passable.

Props to the translator for making the TL Notes funny and engaging. The translator has a good grasp on the english language and its structure unlike some novel translations I have read.

The... more>> plot of the novel mostly revolves around how schemes are relevant among royalties and aristocrats even in a cultivation focused world. There are a lot of humorous moments that keeps the readers entertained.

Felt like the system in this novel was completely useless except for providing him with time freeze cards and the training chamber. Also most of the time, MC is a little s*upid and forgets to protect his family members and its only due to random deus ex machinas that they are saved time and time again.

Fish and chips but one quarter of it abruptly just filled with batter.

Humor was good, character development and interaction is not bad considering the size of the cast and batten but last 30 chapters or so seem to be the author inserting in a sudden plot end scenario, the worst was the final chapter, where it was just rounded up...

Really a good read!

The earlier chapters were not very long but they got longer with much informations.

The author is so good! Nothing to complain about this novel!

The scheming is so good, the harem is good, the adventures are fun and the end was not dragged and with good outcome.

I highly recommend!

Although the title is a bit misleading and the nocel gad little to do with the general wife its still a good read.

The MC is a lot like the MC of Evil Monarch and legend of ling tian, extremely shameless but in a fun way.

What I like the most in this novel is the power level Upper Limit for most character still in Worldly Level. So, we feel something like Wuxia Story but slightly higher in power level. Even though the world building could be more explored, but author had done his best to tell detail about main faction that involves MC.

The tactic and strategy of many characters are genius so it's really entertain us to see who is smarter in this game.

But, I think author messed the last arc. Instead of trying to... more>> get into war like strategy and make it a master piece like Three Kingdom, he chooses to make the Power Level got higher so eventually it become brute force story like typical cultivation.

Maybe that's also the reason why author rushed the ending. He seems like confuse whether to milking the story and open new world map or just ending it in current map. And here it is rushed and absurd ending come. <<less

The very start of the novel was honestly confusing. I had questions if the Main Character is smart or ret*rded. We know he was reincarnated but the way he acted was that of a child (8-10).

But the author somehow managed to make this interesting. You won't be that bored when reading it as you want to see the interactions of the MC against the world. There's also character development for the MC.

The only thing to note is that the Ending was definitely rushed but overall a fun read to pass... more>> the time. <<less

It is one if the best novels I have read. I loved everything about it and can't even remember anything that annoyed me at this point of time. Although the ending is a bit rushed but it is still complete and a satisfying one.

Honestly this one is a decent read with an okey plot and story.

However the biggest problem I'd say with this one is the simple fact that both the title and the description talks about how this will be about a cold blooded female general and a seemingly young master playboy.

While this is a small focus of the story the major part focuses on the MC and him running around scheming, slapping ppl in the face and being domineering while also working on his cultivation. When it comes to the wife... more>> who's a general she only appears to a small degree and is more like a member of the harem of which there are many, 8 in total if I remember right.

Really early on the story establishes 6 harem members for the MC and then from that point they all only appear to a small part through out the story with the female general being one of these 6 women. It honestly felt weird with how the last 20-30 chapters feel very rushed, probably due to it getting axed or author losing interest, but in the last 4-5 chapters I believe only one of these 6 initial and kinda "main" harem members is actually mentioned and the rest are only included in a line like "the MC lived happily ever after with all his wives and they all bore him a son".

So again don't actually think like me that this is gonna be a story about a young master + female general focused story since thats far from what it's about. It's more of the fairly standard chinese cultivation trope together with harem gathering plot with the MC slowly growing stronger till he becomes a god. There is also a system that gives him points everytime someone else feels a strong emotion towards him negative or positive, with it being the easiest to get negative emotions.

The chapters are fairly long compared to many other CN novels so the 307 chapters are probably more close to 400-500 chapters in a normal CN cultivation story. All in all it's a decent read if you just want something easy to read with a lot of face slapping. <<less

My Wife is a General is a standard Xianxia transmigratior young master story. It does all the tropes from disguises and hiding strength, to face slapping and using a system to power up. The system here is based off of emotional responses- specifically the more the MC trolls, the stronger he gets. Nothing new here, but it’s palatable.

Fun story, but the author ends up doing random stuff like letting the system create a hyperbolic time chamber and desktop computer, league of legends references, sports cars, nukes, and cross breeding. It... more>> gets more random, from a plot based on philosophical debate on tax reform to turning people into “top half female, bottom half boy’s body” (specifically not man).

It makes the story interesting, no doubt, but pretty s*upid. The author likes to find a new idea and abandon the old one- so it feels like you could be suddenly reading a different story in a few chapters. Cultivation and the system are pretty tr*sh so it’s ignorable- know that the author is just gonna write his power-ups no matter what.

The characters are decent for a harem fic, one note female role players, while the side characters are pretty lively and interesting. As for the Wife mentioned in the title- she’s less than 10% of the story. The author just has adhd. The MC is fairly interesting until he becomes meta xianxia protagonist... and I’ll leave it at that.

Good time waster. Disappointing and lackluster ending. Some of the arcs are just s*upid especially later on, and a bit repetitive- but hey. You don’t expect literature when you see the harem tag. <<less

First I'll address the elephant in the room and say that the title is really bad that doesn't do the novel any favours. A rough summary is that the MC reincarnates with a system that helps him cultivate and the marriage is a side plot that you could cut out of the novel without affecting the main storyline.

The ending is definitely rushed to the point that a few chapters from the end you wouldn't think your were 2 or 3 chapters away from the end. While MC's shameless behaviour is... more>> quite fun looking at it objectively if it was an antagonist I imagine most people would hate him.

Overall it's a fun story that can pass the time that would probably be read much more with a better title. A score of 4/5 is probably fair and people who like this genre will definitely enjoy it. <<less

It was an easy 5 stars for the vast majority, but the ending was the most rushed I've ever seen... the novel could probably have been almost double the length without feeling stretched. The last 30 or so chapters already felt really rushed, but even at that pace it still felt like there would be at least 30 more even at the second to last chapter. It still gets a 4 because the rest is so fun, and honestly the ending wouldn't be bad if it had at least 50... more>> more chapters...

Aside from the ending though, this is great. The MC is similar to in Otherworldly Evil Monarch (actually there are many similarities, that one was almost certainly inspiration for this) except that he's actually lustful and arrogant instead of it being mostly an act. He doesn't object when women offer themselves to him and even has them sleep with him as parts of transactions.

The focus is mainly on collecting women and political schemes, with the occasional MC showing off his strength and slaughtering weaklings. The schemes actually tend to be rather satisfying, and most of the women are interesting and remain at least somewhat relevant.

Overall, if a shameless, arrogant, and lustful MC sounds good to you, you'll probably really like this. This is one of my favorite MCs, and the only reason I can't bring myself to give it a 5 is because of how rushed the ending is. <<less

Nothing world-changing here but it was a very good binge read. Mc's personality is consistent throughout, with above average character development and subplots. Perfect change of pace filler novel that does not drag on endlessly.

Actual score 2.5/5 (I marked 2/5 since we don't get half a star).

Hmm, it's kind of like a Fengling Tianxia novel. The plot, setting, characters, and even royal court comedy are pretty similar. I think this author based his story on or learned from Fengling Tianxia's writing style (this story is 10-15 years newer, so it's certain). Whichever way, it's obviously inferior to FT's novels like Otherworldly Evil Monarch (probably the most similar of FT's novels compared to this one), but it's not bad.

However, it's just "not bad." Yes, this... more>> novel is just average. It does the comedy part well, and it doesn't have any very obvious problems as far as a random, rather uninvested reader is concerned (but if you dig into it, you'll find many problems, just as some other reviewers pointed out).

Since it's so convenient to compare it to Fengling Tianxia's novels, since this is a pretty short novel (though the chapters are actually 2-3 times longer compared to average length in other Chinese novels), and since it's actually so similar to Fengling Tianxia that I don't have motivation to write much at all, I'll keep this review pretty short.

You should treat it purely as a comedy (yes, one with face-slapping and stuff) to kill time or tackle boredom. This novel doesn't really have any value beyond that (perhaps the author is new, and will write more interesting novels in the future - he does have this potential, it would seem - but do not expect much from this story). The setting (be it the world per se or cultivation system and various ranks) is only as deep as a comedy would need. The characters are okay if you treat them as comedic, but if you treat this novel seriously, you'll find them rather shallow. Same goes for plot and its progression, though there was clearly a lot of potential in the story. The harem kind of matters little most times, and the title and the eponymous character matter even less.

However, no matter which element I think about, this novel is still a Fengling Tianxia ripoff, and I find it hard to really go into detail. I mean, darn, it just feels pointless to write a review of something that is a compact copy of another novel in more than 50% in terms of contents. Really, go read Fengling Tianxia's Otherworldly Evil Monarch, and you'll pretty much have all that you get here—a spoilt young master (which is in large part a facade) protagonist, harem (which is even pretty similar), court politics, court antics, face slapping, other spoilt young masters, similar kind of endgame crisis last arc, other comedic elements—and it'll be done better and in more detail despite being a much older novel.

Really, just read it only if you want to kill some time. <<less
