Chi Wen’s short life has been bumpy. Ever since he could remember things, he was already living in the orphanage, growing up without a family. Later, he entered the entertainment industry and became a first generation film emperor. However, he finally ended up in ruin. In the end, Chi Wen jumped off the top floor of a building, but did not expect that he would get a chance to open his eyes again…

Back to his infancy, Chi Wen coldly looked at the woman who was laughing s*upidly in front of him. He waited, waited until the moment she finally abandoned him.

Fu Yuanruo was transmigrated as the cannon fodder in the novel ‘First Generation Movie Queen.’ When she first transmigrated, it happened to be the plot point when the malicious cannon fodder tried to frame the female lead for the last time. After that, her evil deeds would be exposed. The whole netizens mocked, and her father angrily drove her out of the house. A former wealthy and pampered young miss fall into the mud and finally died after accidentally falling into the water…

Because of the high popularity of the original book, the author used the daughter of the original female and male lead as the protagonist for the second book. The villain who had been against the main couple of this sequel also met his just end and died tragically. After his death, the female lead let out some vague words that made readers speculated that this villain was the illegitimate son of the prequel’s cannon fodder.

After recalling the plot, Fu Yuanruo stared at the pregnancy report in her hand. She was torn: should she give birth or not?

This novel is not romance-centric but you can see traces of it throughout. It is mainly fluff and family.

I like how the FL, ML and the baby interacts. I laughed very much. I am envious of their family.

CW was presented beautifully with a mindset of an adult in a child's body. He wasn't strange or weird due to what time travel. Some novels write characters like this and it feels like people should be suspicious.

I also like the extras.... more>>
Spoiler

Chi Wen came back to original timeline and changed his fate.

There is also the short story about what happened to the novel!FYR and how she is faring in the other world

I think it's kinda love it or hate it novel. Still recommend you to try. Maybe wait until the translation is done before you get started.

In the beginning it was so cute (took me years to read until 58 I do think the translation is very slow until it's kinda losing its charm), up until 58 still OK I think.

There are parts that I dislike. I do not read between the lines so much like other reviews but I do think MC is very fortunate. Whoever becomes her will survive... more>> seriously.

All other reviews are valid. It is whether or not you care about those aspects or not. If you do, you may not like it. Say the childish behavior of wenwen, I don't really care if it is reasonable or not because it is quite cute. I cannot say much about the second half of the story since I am still at CH58 at the mercy of the translators who are extremely SLOW.

If you like a light novel (it's not that I don't like heavy drama novel. If I happen to click on it, I might got hooked and finished it. But I rather stay away from those), you should give it a try. It is enjoyable while it lasts though. <<less

I really really like the characters in this novel, Wenwen is ABSOLUTELY adorable, the FL is cool-headed and smart, and even the ML who I expected to be domineering and obsessive is actually respectful to the FL and even has his hilarious moments. There is no misunderstandings between the leads, they are ACTUALLY mature and smart adults. Plus the comments of the netizens in the novel are so funny I LOVE IT

I like how Wenwen isn't an OP child genius who acts like an adult just because he's reborn.... more>> In fact I find his childishness more realistic, reborn or not, you're still in the body of a CHILD, biological functions is still going to make feel and act like one. It was nice reading about a reincarnator that acts his age, but retains the understanding of an adult. Way more realistic than those child geniuses that can hack and set up businesses yet the adults around them seem to think it's normal??

However one flaw of the novel would be that I literally have no idea when the ML fell in love with the FL. There were no signs, we first found out about it when another character mentioned it, so there wasn't really a satisfaction of knowing when and how ML actually started to fall in love. The development of their relationship was ok— I like how the ML gave the FL time to accept him, but I just couldnt find the moment when he realised he loved her. Plus the first meeting of the FL and ML was glossed over, but that was probably the intention of the author to not put too much emphasis on the past since the FL has moved on.

Could have been better in its execution, but overall a cute story with a heartwarming portrayal of relationships (not just between our leads, but also with the supporting characters) <<less

The thing I love about this book is the relationship between FL, son and the villagers. Some parts of dialogue between ML and son are hilarious too. The first half of this book is good but the second half became so mundane that it started to get boring. The romance is sooooo slow and I seriously can't feel any sparks between the FL and ML.

Best story I've read in a long time. Thanks for translating. This is a book for relaxing and de-stressing. Very sweet and touching story about a mother who really shows great care for her son and a son with a hilarious inner self. I really like the part where Wen Wen idolizes his father when he didn't know that Si Yue is his father. But when he gets behind the secret, he scorns Si Yue for being his father with the aim to protect his naive and helpless mother from... more>> his nasty father. That is so damn cute. There is drama, but the villains get their fair share of face slapping, and as a reader one finishes the book satisfied. Overall, a round story with some great characters who are worth your time to read. <<less

This novel is really satisfying for those who are bothered by the entertainment circle cliches. It has a warm, hopeful feeling thanks to the kindness MC receives and her found family.

The plot is good and well structured, it flows nicely enough. The romance is a subplot at best but the mother-son relationship is so wholesome that it is all balanced out. Most characters aren't one-dimensional and their actions actually make sense. I'm pleased by the actions of the MC when she transmigrated, apart from accepting the loss of her former... more>> world's family too easily. This isn't an OP MC, it gets somewhat boring at times when the transmigrated soul is so confident about outsmarting and defeating all her enemies. I'd probably do the same this MC did, run like hell to avoid death and do my best to live a peaceful life while gathering some resources.
Spoiler

I also loved the way MC didn't end up as an actress! Live-streaming and being a botanist is so fitting for her!

[collapse]

I'm very happy with the character of the reborn son, he's so tsundere as a newborn baby and their mother-son relationship is so heart-warming. We get to read his thoughts often and it adds a lot to the novel. He totally becomes the best momma's boy once he realises his mother didn't mean to abandon him (
Spoiler

even though maybe she did? I'm sure it wasn't out of lack of care but the original Fu Yunruo's soul died when he was around two years old and the extra chapter did mention he was left in the orphanage before he turned a year old. Maybe she thought there was no other way out for him since she was in danger. Of course, current transmigrated MC would have never left him

[collapse]
. I felt really good about the way this novel handles the family dynamics, it avoids the common failure of most such novels where the baby is totally dropped or forgotten (with nanny, school, grandparents, etc) to focus on mommy's career or romance. Truly, the closest mother-son relationship I've read in a chinese novel.

I'm only unhappy with 3 things:

1.) The villains are so s*upid it's truly impressive. Ori-FL and Ori-ML are totally brain-dead and they simply can't help themselves from charging to bother MC every single time despite of the danger. I expected better from a green tea stepsister who was able to keep such a flawless innocent act for so many years.

2.) The ML's background is too OP. I don't hate it but it feels rather unnecessary when it it brought up. Both MC and ML had good enough careers. The way the paternity issue was handled was interesting too
Spoiler

since it turned out son had a different father in the former life and transmigrated MC had the luck of randomly jumping a hidden boss

[collapse]
.

3.) The extra chapters where the son is reborn again in the orphanage and gets revenge before waking up in the current timeline again is so... weird... really, no need for that. One rebirth is enough. <<less

I adore this wholeheartedly although the translation that I read was not as well written or coherent as the one here (but it was completed and I really am impatient). I find it a little odd but understandable that the son seems to regress, the moment he accepts his mother its like he stops trying to fight against the 'child' mindset. So a little odd but I like to think of it as if his soul is properly merging so he has memories but still has to manage a child's... more>> attention span and insecurities. Though he has become more and more of a mama's boy. His last life trauma making him a walking attachment disorder

Edit: chapter 122 THESE GRANDPARENTS ARE ADORABLE where have you been for the last 100 chapters T-T <<less

Even though it has the same old plot as many other novels, this one stands out. Both mom and son are reborn, but the mother is another person with the same name and the son came back as a baby. She's matured and hardworking, she immediately takes the baby as her own and loves him deeply. The reborn son is full of grievances and despise her because he's sure she's going to abandon him like she did in the his other life, but eventually came to love her to death... more>> when he found out the truth about why she left, this part was the saddest (and the only one) of the novel. The romance is suuuuuuper slow, almost at the end of the novel and there aren't many romantic situations, but is still very sweet. The revenge was finely resolved thanks to the help of the ML, so it was very satisfying. There are many funny moments between father and son, and super sweet moments with the mother. Wen Wen is an adult in a child's body, but even then he learnt to relax and live his childhood fully, something he didn't have the chance to in his first life. The end is kind of abrupt, I'd like to read more about other situations in the novel, I feel very sad about the FL's father, she wasn't the original so she didn't have it in her to forgive him, but I'm sure that the original would have do it. <<less

(MTL) Generally a fairly chill and heartwarming novel. Sure, there's the revenge and dog-blood drama arcs in the middle and end, but honestly, they were kinda plain. I personally didn't feel much emotion (anger, resentment, sympathy) for any of the characters that I would normally feel for other similar novels. *Shrug* Romance was slow-paced and plain, but it was definitely heartwarming. Overall, read this if you want to relax and enjoy fluff.

Read completely to chapter 78, then skimmed to 111 and now I can't continue. The MC's brain is slowly going more and more offline. She started off as a strong independent women, but slowly became the typical brainless, needs cared for MC. The big little bun is also starting to become more ridiculous.

I agree with everything RexJen said. Great start, horrible ending.

Translation was great, Thank you.

4.3 ⭐

After so many time dropping other novels, I finally finished this one particular novel... It was a good read! With only this one point I promise you that you won't be disappointed for wasting your time reading this novel!

The ending was concluded beautifully too BUT!!! There was still a missing piece that makes me to rate it under 4.5 star.

It's a late romance story, more than half the story is focused on the MC (FL) and her son. The story is more like a relationship between them... and... more>> between MC with the people around her. I like it because our MC is truly a great character. I love the village where they're living too.

I like late romance stroy, but this one feels kinda flat? Somehow the romance is too late? I understood that the romance in this novel is so logical, especially since it's about a single mother.

The ML has appeared since half of the story butttt his presence is like a thin air? I like him, he's definitely a green flag ML so I don't blame the character but the author for not giving more presence to the ML.

There's not a single butterflies-in-stomach-worthy moment at all. The romance is nowhere to be found and it was so regretful because I was hoping for a josei-like romance between the FL and ML.

I also kinda frustrated with FL & ML's son WenWen.

I know that in his first life he doesn't have a family, so he's obsessed with his mother (FL) in this current timeline but it frustrated me that he suddenly hating on ML when he knows that he's his biological father. He won't let the FL & ML to have their own quality time. WenWen can't 100℅ blame ML for what happened in the first life... Fortunately it ended up being better on the late chapter.

It was still a good read tho! <<less

Haven't finished yet– somewhat almost at the middle mark of the story.

First: BIG clap to the translator, very good TL quality although there will still be minor minor mistakes but nothing ground-breaking.

Some positive words to describe so far: adorable, slow-paced, slice-of-life.

The characters' (FL, her son, and the community as well as soon-appearing antagonists') relationships are handled pretty well and are believable, I love especially how the FL and son's relationship is (duh they're the main duo ofc) but TBH since the father appears and begins to "assimilate" into their lives..... more>> I can't help but find it irritating.

POtential MINOR SPOILERS
Spoiler

perhaps it's because like the FL and son, ive gotten used to it being just them and their close-knit community, but it feels like the ML is just bringing along trouble.

[collapse]

One BIG factor I'm going to rant about that is causing me to want to drop this (I haven't decided yet if I'm faulting the author or not) is due to the privacy concerns that comes with showbiz-lifestyle novels that include paparazzi. It's honestly a bit jarring and stressful to read as FL has her identity revealed after trying to hide herself– and not even that, her son is exposed as well! The disregard to privacy by paparazzi-like figures as well as the characters themselves is just too hair-pulling inducing.

Mind you I'm aware that these are fictional characters that aren't real, but the distress I felt the whole time is, and right now I'm seriously considering dropping this as although the story does require a suspension of disbelief (come on– an orchid gardenist having millions of fans online and topping the equaivalent of Twitch consistently? Fans actually being coherent online?), once the privacy concerns appeared I found myself struggling to make excuses to keep reading this. I'll still persist though– right now at C52.2 and it /seems/ like the end is nigh on this particular arc. If not, well you'll see that this review is not edited since *now*.

Other than that detail though, it's a good story. I just find it hard to ship the baby daddy with our beautiful strong FL right now, as so far the romance hasn't kicked off beyond mutual appreciation bonding over the son (that she still isn't aware she conceived with the help of the ML). <<less

I actually wanna pass away... while I do (somewhat) like the ML, he sure does frustrate me to the bone!!

Spoiler

while the FL's younger sister (the villainess) wouldve found out eventually, she never wouldve realized the FL was her sister upon seeing her if it wasnt for the ML who hinted/revealed the revelation!!!

(But like good for him for calling her out for being a hypocrite)

I also am so frustrated with the scene where that GREEN TEA SISTER confronts the FL with her gawd awful fiancée and the ML just stands and watches from a distance to "see how she could handle it" and "if she really did change from her past"!!! Like shut up!!

He can literally shut up with that "he took all the bad traits from her" when he was talking about their son

YOUR FAT@SS HEAD WAS PLAYING ABSENT FATHER, aint no way the ML really claiming all the good behavior traits his son has when he wasnt their to influence him🙂🙂

[collapse]

But yeah love the FL and her independent self<3🤭 She's a good mother and is truly a good person!! Love how she can stand for herself like a queen. Live laugh love women

Her son on the other hand... bruh I wanted to punt him like a football in the beginning chapters but I'm glad he finally "realizes" the "truth".

Spoiler

Instead of finding out that his mother had transmigrated, he comes to think that his mother also regressed back in time like him. And thinks that his mother never abandoned him but actually died. Which is like half of the actual truth but yk...

[collapse]

But yeah haven't finished it but it has its potential, Im just emotional and wanted to prepare those who are similar

The ML and FL are probably the best parent I have seen in c-novel. Plus FL genuinely cares for her son wenwen and don't neglect him like other FL lead who seem to forget their child exist when ML shows up. ML is also good a dad, he doesn't get jealous of his own son like other ML and don't compete with his son for FL affection. Truly a good novel and wenwen relationship with his mother is soo sweet, it's sweet enough to give you diabetes :)

@Blueraven I'm so agree with you.

  • I really dislike the ML now after he said that " All the bad parts of my son r from that woman" 🙄 what tf??! I forgive you because of you dude the fl's reborn villain s exist but did you just fvckin really insult the FL??? I mean saying th*see sh*T's without even feeling guilty after ràping the FL just wow!
  • Like as if you just mating a dog in the street?
  • FYI!! YOURE FVCKIN ABSENT! When the FL struggling while giving birth and FL didn't know where to go after she was abandoned by her tràsh family.. Because SHE'S PREG.. TO YOUR CHILD SHE BECOME DESPERATE to find shelter and where r you again at that time after releasing your lust your done. And nevermind?
I... more>> KNOW THS S ONLY FICTION BUT I DIDN'T KNOW THAT THS KIND OF SCAM AND IRRESPONSIBLEL ML STILL ATTRACTIVE TI OTHER READERS. The sh*t!?

now that the FL 's reborn villain can already walk and talk then fvckin dog ML finally sh0wed his bu*t without taking any obligation from where the fl's reborn villain born. Bro how can you still think that he's still attractive??? <<less

I really enjoyed this one, and the mtl was decent enough to read to the ending (though I've heard there are extras, which I couldn't find). The first half does really well at building the relationship between MC and re-born son, and I find his emotional arc interesting. I also think the story did a good job at still having him impacted by child-brain attention span and inability to handle intense emotions. Being re-born does not turn him into a little adult in a child's body, nor can he get... more>> other people to treat him as anything other than a child.

The second half was still enjoyable, but the sense of any tension was lost, yet it also didn't have the fluffy warmth of slice-of-life child rearing so much anymore, so while I enjoyed it, the second half lost a star for me. <<less

The first half was okay. Their time on the province was peaceful and entertaining. BUT when the second half came, it became a cliche plot with a white lotus step-sister and a domineering ex-fiance. I thought it would be a good novel since the execution of the first half was good but I became disappointed as a read until the end.

It’s meh. It was so hard for me to read until chapter 15. I keep getting distracted along the way. This novel just couldn’t hold my attention compared to other novel. While I saw people still enjoy the beginning, it was pretty hard for me to stick with this novel early on. It’s boring.

I’m not a fan of FL at all. So bland, there’s nothing interesting about her. I saw some people enjoy her interaction with her baby son. I did too but some part just feel very painful for... more>> me especially when she keep forcing to make her son wearing girl’s clothes despite him rejecting the idea. I just couldn’t enjoy or laugh at it. Probably because I personally hate it when people force me to do stuff I don’t want. I could enjoy other interactions because most of them are just a miscommunication between a baby and adult but this particular scene just feels very uncomfortable because the baby clearly expressing his rejection that even his first word as a baby is a “No”. That’s how much he rejected it but instead FL keep pushing the idea until he finally had to give up. <<less

This was an heart-warming novel. Our little villain, Wen Wen, was so cute and smart (but not overly genius like some novels). He's POV was fun to read and also made me emotional few times Actually, he's the main highlight of the novel especially his relationship to people around him.

Mama Fu Yunruo (FL), she's gentle character but strong mentality and great perseverance... You can feel how much she loved the kid and feel her fears as 1st time Mom. She was transmigrated the day Wen Wen was conceived so she... more>> really love the kid wholeheartedly as Mom. I like that she chose botany as her profession instead of acting which was common for transmigrated heroines LMAO

The romance was just added bonus but not necessarily needed tho bc the development was slow... Daddy Si Yue (ML) was a good father who got good relationship with his kid despite some Wen Wen's misunderstandings in latter parts. He was just too OP with powerful background behind him.

Too many kind characters and also dumb ones... I also sympathized the original owner Fu Yunruo was obviously not bad but circumstances and people around result to her demise. So I'm glad that past Wen Wen and OG Fu Yunruo was given justice this life.

I just felt that the ending was rush and kinda "slightly" unsatisfactory which was the only con of this novel.

Spoiler

The ending of some characters was left open-ended like OG leads (just ended after bankruptcy) and Fu Dad. Also no wedding happened for Fu Yunruo and Si Yue... I also wanted to see Wen Wen as grown up
