In the book of a certain era, there was a female lead who first took a fancy to the face of the male lead and married him forcefully. But because the male lead’s legs got injured, she wanted to escape from marriage.

During their engagement, she eloped with a young man, which resulted to the blackening value of the male lead.

When Su Jiaojiao transmigrated to this role and faced her husband’s black face, she forcefully changed her words: “Marry, how can I not want to marry!”

The next second, a mechanical sound rings in her mind: [The matchmaker system is activated, host Su Jiaojiao is bounded successfully. I wish host and husband a long life together!!]

Su Jiaojiao: “Huh?!”

Matchmaker System: [Please make a delicious meal for your husband and get his praise. You can get a bag of wheat flour after finishing.]

Su Jiaojiao dropped down a bowl of noodles and delivered them to the man in front of her.

The man slightly reluctantly said: “It’s delicious.”

Matchmaker System: [Praise is not sincere enough, please continue!]

Su Jiaojiao took half of the noodles from the man and says: “Sincerely! Otherwise, you won’t eat the remaining noodles! “

The weak, helpless and pitiful man: “It’s really delicious!”

Matchmaker System: [Task success, reward distribution in progress]

*****

Song Qinghan, whose family didn’t love him, had suffered all kinds of hardships in order to survive. One day when he broke his leg, he thought he would fall into the abyss again, but he was pulled up by a ferocious voice: “Say I love you three times, or you won’t eat it!”

Song Qinghan, with a red face and earnestly said, “I love you, my wife!”

After shouting, he buried his face in his wife’s neck and murmured, “JiaoJiao loves me so much!!” I’m too shy!

If you want a sweet, well-written novel this is it for you. The male lead is such a green flag its not even funny. No r*pe, no unnecessary drama, realistic successes, sweet relationships, and a sensible female lead.

A real treasure this one.

(Update: 2nd Reread - 02/07/2023) The first time I read this I made it to the 47/135th chapter, this time, I persisted until the end. It's not a bad read, but it's a slice of life novel that is relatively uncomplicated and simple. In that way, it comes off a bit boring and nonsensical at times, but if you're not picky about that kind of thing and just want a casual read, it's fine. It's short anyway, you can probably finish it in an hour or two.

SUMMARY: The FL,... more>> Su Jiaojiao, transmigrates into the body of a cannon fodder from a book she had been reading before getting into an accident. This character had the same name as her, and was the fiancé of the male protagonist, Song Qinghan (the ML of this novel). At the start of the story, the original Su Jiaojiao's family was in chaos, with one parent wanting her to drop the engagement between him and the ML because he had come back from the army disabled, while the other wanted to stay true to the arrangements that had been made. In the end, the FL decides to stick things out and with a SYSTEM urging her and the ML's relationship on, they slowly come together.

THOUGHTS: The author was definitely a bit careless when writing this. They introduce a lot of elements (e.g., a reborn ML, a transmigrated original heroine, etc.) that aren't really relevant to the story. It's like the author completely forgot about these things. And this is just one of the bigger flaws of the story! There's also the winding nonsensical plot that jumps from here to there without any purpose or direction, and the poor prose that makes the writing very difficult to understand. Also, as an aside, the TL-er didn't help much because they commented on this pretty much every chapter, which totally ruined the atmosphere even more DX. Their work was not bad, it wasn't the cleanest, but it was definitely better than MTL. It was just that the constant disparaging comments were a bit frustrating — making a bad work look even worse as a result.

RATING: 2.85/5

All in all, I thought this novel was quite pitiful. It had lots of potential... But. Well. If you take away everything except the romance and fluff, it's not a bad slice-of-life novel. The FL was a bit overly spoiled and ridiculously s*upid at times, but she wasn't completely unlikable. If you treat it as a wholesome short story that is not meant to make big waves, it's at least bearable. BTW, if you want to give this novel a try, I recommend that you skim past the TL notes since they will only make your impression of the novel worse. <<less

It starts off pretty fun with fluff but looses steam around the 70-80th chapter. ML is dotting but not too much else and besides the immediate family (who are fairly thin in personality) side characters don’t add much to the story. The setting is watery and I would of liked more personality in the MC besides foodie who is spoiled. It’s an okay light read.

I liked the story. Jiaojiao was never a push over. She fought against her husband's unreasonable and shameless family without worrying about how her inconsequential neighbors will see her. That was such a breath of fresh air. The novels with the same transmigration theme to the past always seemed to make the protaganists compromise their beliefs to avoid rumors. Some even became hypocritical because of it. I also appreciated that the author gave Jiaojiao such loving parents. This was not the norm since this type of novel usually portray the... more>> parents as blood sucking people who sell their daughters for the sake of money. Even her interactions with her dedicated and resourceful husband was a delight to read. I would have preferred if the author added more interactions between her and her family members though but overall, it was a satisfactory read. <<less

Alright, so subjectively speaking, it's kinda good. The story isn't exactly excellent but still, if you're looking for something lighthearted with not a lot of schemes and just want to pass time, I think you'll like it. The ML and FL's daily life is sweet and full of fluff while although there's some annoying characters, they don't appear that much and is also settled properly. The FL, however, I expected her to be more composed and elegant since I assumed she has a good family background and upbringing in the... more>> modern world. Or maybe she originally is but since she's dealing with someone who doesn't follow logic, she became kind of a shrew? I don't know. Anyway, the ML is obedient (wife s*ave) so they are harmonious. Also, I kinda got annoyed a little by the translator. I mean, don't get me wrong, of course I appreciate his efforts a lot. However, his sarcastic comments about the story is kind of..... unnecessary? Yes, he's dissatisfied with the author's writing ability but I think he shouldn't comment that much in order for the readers to not be influenced by his thoughts so much?

Now, objectly speaking, the plot is rather flat, so is the characters. Also, it's also sometimes inconsistent. For example,

Spoiler

there's one time that the author said that Su Jiao Jiao came from a single family, then when she came back to the modern world, her parents are still together. And another is, the author said that Song Qinghan is illiterate since he wasn't able to attend school yet it's also said that he likes reading a lot and is rather a fast learner. So what is reading then? Picture books?

[collapse]

Then I also agree to the translator about the ending (perhaps it's the side stories' ending?) it's kinda rushed. Though their love story in the 70's ended well
Spoiler

(after all, they have a son and is successful then died of old age there)

[collapse]
but their ending in the modern world is really rushed, however I can understand that since it is after all, a spin off or just a side story.

Overall, it's 7.5/10 <<less

First, an explanation of my rating: I rate most things a 3; a 2 or a 4 means I liked the book less or more than average, and a 1 or a 5 means the book stands out as an exceptionally bad or good book.

I liked this book slightly less than average. It's the type of book I like, with a lot of tropes I enjoy, but it was still a very mediocre read. I was also annoyed by the author's h*mophobia (this shows up very briefly during a small... more>> subplot towards the end), attitude towards hitting children and domestic violence, and other values. It made it hard to get into the book. <<less

Translation: 2.5/5

Plot:2/5

... more>> IQ level: minimal

This is popcorn flick level read. MC is a modern lady that transmigrates into a book as a slightly younger lady with her same name in the 1970s. Lots of glossed over plot points, but its short and strangely captivating. Entertaining because the obstacles set themselves up and its satisfying to see the evil doers punished summarily while the MC and ML grow their relationship. There's a system, and it awards basic items, because 1970s China, for MC doing things to advance her relationship with the MC. It's fluff, comedy, relationship highs, face slapping, and soap opera plots. Spoilers here, but
Spoiler

the last bit of reverse transmigration/transmigration to cap off and restart their relationship is just too much, don't know if it was for a sequel or something, but they'd already lived a pretty satisfying life in... another dimension... at this point I have to assume, so adding another lifetime... is excessive, but unsurprising for the genre, I guess.

The translation is a bit iffy at parts, but skim-able. So quick read, entertaining, no deep thoughts necessary. HE of course. <<less

It's ok. The typical transmigration-with-system type of plot. The only thing I liked here is that the missions sent by the system depends on the situation and it is not forcing the host against their will. Except for the first few which is related to something as big as marriage, the rest are small things.

However, aside from that, this novel offerd nothing new. It's just bickering with your in-laws and separating the family. Naturally, MC will earn more money and not share them to her enemies.

In my opinion, all characterd... more>> are bland and one dimensional. I'm surprised I've read this far.

Also, some people might be annoyed at the translation. Some sentences doesn't connect with each other. And there are small details that can be considered as plot holes. In any case, these details affect the reading experience. <<less

If you want something exciting and smart this book isn't for you. This book is cute, simple, entertaining and fluffy. Nothing too complicated, nothing too serious. FL is innocent borderline st-pid but I like her because she isn't pushover. ML is awkward and stiff but he isn't your typical cold and paralysis character.

Their relationship started not with love but respect. They aren't passionate couple but sweet and steady. In the end they love each other in cute and pure way.

Tbh, their relationship makes this book feels special to me.

This is super sweet! Such a light and fluffy read. Little to no drama and misunderstanding.

They are both honest to each other so the truth was revealed later on. The last extra story (actual extra story) was very sweet! I like that reversal and fluffyness.

Spoiler

Would've loved to read about his side with system. It would definitely would've been more sweeter this time. Seeing as he would not be ashamed to do the tasks. I could imagine few scenarios already lol

Actually 2.5. Kinda of a bland and forgettable book, hits the plots points typical of this type of sent to 60's/70's/80's such as:

    • system/golden finger/hidden resources
    • Domineering wife x doting husband
    • hidden identity/baby swap
    • 2 person world/eff them kids couple
I would never read it again. If I hadn't already read over half the novel by the time I got fed up I would have DNF

the characters are bland and flat, anytime there's a moment where there's some exciting or charming with them it's like a bolt of lightning quick and gone in a flash. There was never any mention about the ML's rebirth after the initial introduction because it seems he was reborn before he met the OG FL because he never mentioned a romance with her and only was mistrustful of MC. Because the original host cuckolded him otherwise he wouldn't been okay to marry her if he knew even if MC is different. Also I find MC to be boring, lazy (claiming she's socially anxious/hermit) and hypocritical. She has no interest in developing a relationship beyond ML, even her parents are after thoughts and only because of filial piety. The few friends she had were forgotten quite quickly. She goes on and on how after kids are grown and self sufficient, parents don't have to raise them or their grandchildren and instead be cared for. Only for her to always be relying on the family, at first she did supplement them but then she more or less handed off her kid to the parents. I feel pity for her child. it didn't really have a plot it was mainly slice of life. The most trouble was related to ML's family. There wasn't any conflict with the OG fl. To be honest just on the few scenes we got with her, she and MC are similar except OG FL is more sociable. MC more or less took over OG FL's plot by being good to ML, doing business with the girl OG FL was meant to do etc. I have so many gripes with this novel. Mostly spoiler related but here's one that isn't spoilery, MC assumed she and ML would divorce after OG FL came and that she needed to rely on her knowledge to succeed in life later. But not till wayyyy later does she actually start reviewing. Like girl you should have done this sooner, just because you were a decent student in modern times won't mean you'll remember things in the past and what if the knowledge isnt the same/inconsistent.

Spoiler

concerning their child: they basically gave birth and left the baby primarily in MLs bio parents hands and mainly played with the baby. They were like that up until the 4th month. When they were OMG we're parents now. Oh no we can't leave our baby to your parents the son they raised (ML and the boy were swapped) turned out to be a hooligan. Even then they're more focused to each other. Not a fan of the kid either honest the system would have been better if he was reborn as their kid rather than a dog, because their kid was a bit of a weirdo. He was purposely peeing on others because that would be the only times his mom focus on him and talk to him. He was only a year old and they had so many expectations of a baby that made more sense for a dog. The difference in sufficiency. That's sad.

also ML was so jealous of the kid but like I said they were a two person world. MC confirmed it herself that ML is above all including their child. Once the kid goes to school he was back to the grandparents, they left him the company after he was done with school to vacation as a couple. Like you guys wanted a child take care of him. Poor guy justified their behavior because he got married and was like yeah I see why you only focused on your SO. But cmon.

the baby swap with ML not expected but made sense since it's a typical plot to Cnovels and it was a convenient way to give him a secret identity though I don't think it was necessary. Could have just made him have something to do with the military since everyone else thought he was just a soldier but he had climbed ranks before the injury and they never said how far he got. Especially since the author wasn't consistent with his job.

The extras where they go back to her time after they passed was lame and pointless since it was so short and abrupt. There were so many little inconsistencies in the story as a whole. The author isn't consistent with the ages (MC went from her OG age 25ish? To her body being 20 then it was 22 and back to 20) I don't remember how old ML is. The system would give her a time restriction for one mission and it changed 3 different times. ML was supposed to get a big pension from the government but they seemed to forget about it. And this was when MC spent money like crazy also that drove me nuts sure you have a bunch of money saved up and could last years with the current economy but you spent like crazy and barely want to work until she was an educated graduate when she was writing books. Waste of her godly tongue cheat. MCs OG parents turn into a single parent, then turned back to having both parents, or what anyone's jobs are.

i almost forgot. MC gave advice to her few "friends" that would not flow with that time period. There's a few scenes of DV in the novel and her advice (to fight back and threaten her husband and in laws with a weapon) have gotten her "friend" k1lled. If they weren't connected to MC I can only imagine how much worse it could have gone for them.

[collapse]

Like I said earlier I don't see why ML loves MC. From his POV she was awful in his first life (again we don't know if he knows about the cuckolding) and she became better. But like why did he fall for her and be a henpecked husband? In my opinion a good deal of her affection was insincere, since it was all prompted by the matching system. Sure that ended up breeding actual affection but it's based on insincerity.

I'm not bashing the translation or even the translator himself but I was growing so frustrated with them. The quality was okay. I think when translator changed and the new guy started that's when my enjoyment went down

They put footnotes that weren't real footnotes like talking about specific Chinese phrasing or words and instead commentary or complaints from them about the story or about piracy. Almost like comments on wattpad. Sometimes it's just be there middle of the story interrupting the flow. I was annoyed they didn't fully translated it citing them being underage. I don't know why they picked up the story then or bring in another translator for those scenes.

I quite enjoyed this novel. The translation is very good aside from a few small errors. The story is full of cliches, but there's nothing inherently wrong with that.

I have a few minor complaints.

Spoiler

First, I feel like he shouldn't have been magically healed. The title is "Married to a Disabled Man", not "Married to a Man Who was Injured but Got Better". I just think it would have made for a more compelling story if they actually had to live with his disability forever.

Second, I wish they had done something with their education. They studied for the gaokao, got into a good university, but then he just starts a business and she becomes an author. They both are successful, but it feels like it's just protag halo, rather than intelligence and hard work.

Third, I wish the original FL had more screen time, especially after they start working together with Ji Xuan (?).

I liked the extra chapters, especially the Uno Reverse card they pulled off. <<less

This was a very lighthearted reading. There was little angst and no obstacles in the couple growth. They had good will for each other.

Even if there was a system administrator that encouraged their bonding, there was sincerity in each action of Su JiaoJiao.

Spoiler

I enjoyed her playing "the shrew" in the Taohua Village to protect his husband's filial reputation. Also, I found it gratifying that she didn't play the weak part for the sake of family, friends, neighbors, business partner, and so retaliated in a righteously forthright way. With no guilty conscience! Even though it was mentioned that in her previous life she was socially reticent, she had character development: utterly opening up to his husband. She drew a clear line with others, even her own morher when she expressed her daughter should have more than only one child.

I almost skipped the extras, but I was delighted to find that the matchmaker system was still present and just changed the host to Song QingHan.

Spoiler

He was truly the son of heavens. He was a second rich generation young master in both lifetimes. And it was reveled that because of his obsession towards his wife, the matchmaker system came to be. I really appreciated the nonexistent interference of the original FL (Xi Shu) in the couple's relationship.

The story was interesting enough; the epilogues got a little boring for me, not bad but not very engaging. The main female took a while for me to warm up to her, she wasn't bad, but she wasn't particularly likeable either in the beginning. The author never clarifies why she was brought into that world; just that she was chosen to have the male lead fall in love with her. However, the "original" female lead of the story was pretty good herself, it wasn't like she was a horrible character,... more>> she actually gave me a better impression than the FL, so...I don't know🤷‍♀️.

Translation-wise there was a lot of mix-ups of she/he and of characters names. There was also a lot of comments from the translator within the story that got on my nerves a little; it's like having someone talk while you are trying to watch a movie. Fortunately, they eventually stopped putting it in the body of the work in the later chapters. <<less

Not really sure how to think of this one. It's not bad but it's not good either. It's like the question "You can be overwhelmed and underwhelmed but can you just be whelmed?"

In the story, there is a lot going on, yet it never really amounts to much. The MC is a transmigrator who travelled to the past and married a crippled man. She has the stereotypical sharp-tongued sister-in-law (who becomes less hateful to the MC) but has genuinely nice parents. The ML hints at being reborn (it might be... more>> a translation issue) and then quickly recovers from his injury (with the help of the MC's healing spray). The only part that has any real substance is the ML's family. Otherwise, the rest of the story just kind of goes by.

Spoiler

The ML's brother planned on raping the MC but it's never brought up. Also turns out that the ML's family isn't actually his family as his initial parents had actually stolen him while leaving their son with the ML's birth family. Turns out the swapped son is just as terrible as the kidnappers. Go figure.

[collapse]

It's a good read if you're not looking for anything complicated and just want some occasional fluff as there really wasn't a lot of that either. <<less
