In the book of a certain era, there was a female lead who first took a fancy to the face of the male lead and married him forcefully. But because the male lead’s legs got injured, she wanted to escape from marriage.

During their engagement, she eloped with a young man, which resulted to the blackening value of the male lead.

When Su Jiaojiao transmigrated to this role and faced her husband’s black face, she forcefully changed her words: “Marry, how can I not want to marry!”

The next second, a mechanical sound rings in her mind: [The matchmaker system is activated, host Su Jiaojiao is bounded successfully. I wish host and husband a long life together!!]

Su Jiaojiao: “Huh?!”

Matchmaker System: [Please make a delicious meal for your husband and get his praise. You can get a bag of wheat flour after finishing.]

Su Jiaojiao dropped down a bowl of noodles and delivered them to the man in front of her.

The man slightly reluctantly said: “It’s delicious.”

Matchmaker System: [Praise is not sincere enough, please continue!]

Su Jiaojiao took half of the noodles from the man and says: “Sincerely! Otherwise, you won’t eat the remaining noodles! “

The weak, helpless and pitiful man: “It’s really delicious!”

Matchmaker System: [Task success, reward distribution in progress]

*****

Song Qinghan, whose family didn’t love him, had suffered all kinds of hardships in order to survive. One day when he broke his leg, he thought he would fall into the abyss again, but he was pulled up by a ferocious voice: “Say I love you three times, or you won’t eat it!”

Song Qinghan, with a red face and earnestly said, “I love you, my wife!”

After shouting, he buried his face in his wife’s neck and murmured, “JiaoJiao loves me so much!!” I’m too shy!

Thanks to sansukini092, I decided to MTL this and it's not that hard to read.

The FL is entertaining. She's a modern day homebody who's friendly but prefers to spend her time eating snacks at home. She's also very willful and straightforward and deals with problems very decisively, though in ways other people don't approve of. Although she's nice to people, she always puts herself first, so it's heartwarming to see her relationship with the ML as well as her cheap family blossom.

The ML is a pretty passive guy, which makes... more>> him a little boring. He's used to living by and for himself, so he's awkward at socializing and really doesn't know how to speak sweetly. He starts out brooding and quiet, but as soon as FL shows that she "changed her mind" and really does want to make the marriage work, he turns into a completely obedient henpecked husband.

The FL and ML get together very quickly, but they go slow and it's adorable seeing them develop from being shy about holding hands at night, to "sleeping together" every night. Because FL is so willful and ML just thinks being ordered around by his wife shows she cares, they develop a reputation for being a penny-pinching shrew wife and her poor s*upidly doting husband, but they don't let it affect them because they understand and love each other, and I think that really needs to be pointed out and praised.

There's no real drama here, surprisingly enough. Their relationship arc is more about seeing how their relationship develops and how they get through their day to day life together. Even plot points that seem like they would be big dramatic conflicts get solved pretty quickly and painlessly. It might be a little disappointing since none of the drama really has any dramatic faceslapping scenes.

Lastly, although I don't know what 1960s-1970s China was like, I like the side characters and world building. The characters are pretty realistic, even the antagonists. Characters like the stingy jealous sister-in-law are just treated as human, and the worse antagonists that get their comeuppance are usually just treated as getting the consequence of their own actions. The System is adorable and has a very cute relationship with the FL, it's very innocent and earnestly tries to help the development of their relationship with tasks that it purposely creates for the situation. Their child in the extra is also hilariously horrible.

All in all, I recommend this story as a sweet, light-hearted pallete cleanser. It's a good "turn off your brain" read, and it's pretty easy to MTL. <<less

Okay-ish story but I didn't like the MC much that's why I had taken away the two stars. Besides, I'm not much of a fan 70's story, however, due to this lovey-dovey couple I had read the entire story.

Fluffy and written okay. It was a smooth read but unfortunately a bit bland for me (but that is totally personal preference).

Some of the scenes felt like fillers and author could have made the story more detailed in a sense. It was an okay story but do not see myself rereading this.

The story is short and cute. Although I feel like there are some weird things and the end wasn’t as satisfying as I would’ve wanted. I still liked it overall and I would recommend it

Great novel!! As other reviewers have said, its a sweet fluffy romance with a coquettish yet fierce wife and a capable yet doting husband.

The entire story revolves around how a matchmaking system continuously issues tasks, tempting with her most desired rewards (food, medicine) to bring together a shy wife and a reserved husband to a natural state of intimacy from the initial alienation. Through these tasks they learn to support and rely on each other and develop love and affection ('cough' that kind included) a step at a time.

Overall... more>> all a fun read. Everyone gets their just dues and the couple gave a lot of people toothache (sour from the PDA).

All in all it's a {Simple. Romanctic. Short} read <<less

The story is a dull, nothing special but readable if you're bored. She had a system but it helped her instead making her do unreasonable things. The ML was also reborn but it was pointless lol. The original FL showed up a couple times, basically nonexistent. I didn't finish this even tho I was at the end. The most annoying thing was the translator's constant notes/comments, it was really unnecessary since it wasn't info to explain things in the novel. Overall wouldn't read it again or recommend it.

Ranging from ok to good, i'd say I give 3.5 rounded up to 4, even though I usually dislike "system" novels as it feels kinda forced, this one was pretty cute, not a masterpiece, but if you're bored, like novels in the chinese economic reform as setting, and have read the other more popular novels placed in this timeperiod I'd say you can give this one a try.

it's an okay read for me compared to other 70's stories might be because the story itself is not too deep

the family conflict is not too major as the FL really ruthless toward the ML's family. Anyway, the conflict is not too bad or I might say it quite worry-free?

Spoiler

the FL starts to accept ML maybe around chpt 15

First of all, I would to thank the author and the translator of this story.

I guess, I'm quite satisfied with how the plot of this story flowed. Jiaojioa is a unique and wonderfull female lead herself. She was unique in a way that she didn't need to hide her true self and act different to be like the original host of her body. Instead she accepted and embraced her new life with contentment. She didn't have any ambition nor desire to live a more glamorous and highclass life, she just... more>> want to live well and happy. Maybe this made her more human to me, which is quite different with the usual Ms. Perfect troop. The story emphizes jiaojiao's flaws as a person - her glutony, her vicious mouth (even though she was force by her mission), her greed. Nonetheless, these traits are what made her unique and what made her more lovable to the readers and to her husband, the ML.

From here, I saw that what matters in life is not the great deeds that you make or the riches that you have, but, instead, how you share and show your love to others, especially to your love ones - living your life freely, with contentment and acceptance.

Lastly, for the readers and prospective readers of this story, I hope that you enjoy and appreciate Jiaojiao's story. <<less

I actually don't really have any good feelings for the novel other than the translator's work. I feel the translator put in a lot of effort and I appreciate their work.

The novel itself isn't exactly horrible, but isn't good for someone who calls themselves a bookworm. There are quite a few gaps in the plot, and the author changes their scenario to suit the idea they had at the time (at the beginning, FL had both parents, then she somehow became a child from a single parent household, then she... more>> still had both parents in the extras. And that's just one of the examples).

The title has nothing to do with the story. The 'ML is only temporarily disabled, as he broke either one leg or both (yes, the author makes it hard to tell whether one or both) then gets well in just two-three months after he marries FL. So I don't get why this had to be mentioned in the title. Bc it happened before their wedding thus their marriage became unsure? On the good side, the interaction between ML and FL was sweet, so that saved the book from making me hate it. <<less

I read this straightly after finishing "Second Marriage in the 1970s" novel so I couldn't help but to compare both novels since they had the same setting and also a transmigrator as MC. But unlike the former, I felt a bit disappointed after reading this. I don't know, maybe because I had some expectations before reading this since the rating wasn't that bad.

The story was honestly just so so and a bit bland. There were some dramas and conflicts but they weren't particularly interesting.

Spoiler

The major one was maybe the case of child swapping that involved ML.

[collapse]

The characters were also a bit boring so they couldn't save the story much. MC was a contradictory character. In her original world, she was an introvert and had a hard time to socialize with other people but after transmigrating, she easily acted cute and easygoing and even fluently scolded other people like a shrew.

ML also didn't stand out much. He mentioned that he was reborn so he was wary of MC when he came back to the village. But after seeing MC's positive attitude, he easily attracted to MC and even trusted her like nothing ever happened in the his past life. I don't know what's the point of him being reborn since he didn't change anything after that. And the novel title was very misleading. ML wasn't disabled, he was just injured. The extra where MC and ML met again in the other timeline also wasn't written well. It was so rushed and even made me think that it was better not to make it at all. <<less

The first 60 or so translated chapters were pretty fun to read but as the story progressed, the characters went off the rails. The translator's comments are pretty much the only logical points in several chapters.

The relationship that builds between the FL and ML is very sweet and quite lighthearted. Bonus points for FL's supportive parents.

The story also deals with some heavy topics in a very hand-wavey manner.

Pre-Review Notes (while I'm waiting for extra stories to be translated, lol) :

  • FL transmigrates and wants to live a happy/fulfilling life with poor, injured husband.
  • Quite a bit of dog blood that low-key became annoying/repetitive (especially as the antagonists' actions were pretty immature and dumb). But, I guess it's good since you know the FL will face-slap them well every time.
  • The romance was definitely in the backseat. There were some nice interactions between the couple here and there but it wasn't, like, romantic. The ML is quite doting and his character had potential, being a reincarnator, but he isn't really fleshed-out (other than being a faithful/supportive husband). It's a chill romance.
  • Kinda sad that the translator didn't seem to like the story? The first translator was fine, then it was MTL (I think) for a couple of chapters and now the second translator is finishing the rest of the story. The second translator's comments in the middle of the chapter were A Lot at some point, but it definitely got better when they started putting them at the end.

The title is a bit... misleading. This is not a spoiler (i believe), the ML is actually not disabled. More like he got injured and he decided to retire back to his hometown. The doctor said that his ankle (or foot?) has a possibility of being healed but it could also end up lame if not treated properly. So how can he be disabled? He's injured.

Anyhow, this is a fluff story. Read this if you're looking for something light and something to pass time. The system's missions were focused on... more>> progressing the two lead's relationship thus the name: matchmaking system.

I find the two of them compatible. Their characters fit well because both of their personalities just match. They have this understanding of each other's intentions so they don't have misunderstandings and even help each other whenever there's a need for acting and defending. Both leads were also decisive. <<less

This story is just fluffy and wholesome~

I'm glad it didn't went into the cliched FL gets scared of oriFL snatching the ML away, and was able to love the ML wholeheartedly and sincerely. ML deserved the world plis :<<< He's just too soft and pure and uwu must protect. I like how their relationship is that of equals and both respect and support each other's decisions. This story did indeed focus more on the main couple so don't expect much character development from other characters. Also, NO LOVE TRIANGLES!!!!!! The... more>> only one who loves ML is FL and vice versa so no heartbreak second lead drama. The ML and FL has a healthy couple relationship and would always communicate to each other.

Recommended to read when u are feeling like the world is full of sh*t lol this novel is calming and soothing~ <<less

Reading this felt alot like reading the spoilers. It was too fast phased specially after they established their relationship.

Spoiler

Last 10 chapters are extras and original FL only in the extra pages. She is not a friend she is more like an after thought. The very last chapter felt unnecessary, as they return to the MC's original life and had the s*upidest falling in love story.

Story is a little slow paced but still enjoyable if it wasnt for all the translator's notes/thoughts inserted here and there throughout the chapters after chapter 30 or so. Makes me wonder if it changed translator around those chapters cuz prior to that there were no useless distractions from the translator.

The novel flows well and quite satisfying with an assertive and adaptive MC. I am never fond of golden cheats and system, but that's just me.

Something off putting is the numerous TN in the middle of the text, taking focus away from the story for irrelevant rants and unfunny comments. OK, I understand as a free translation, we can accept that, even if on some chapters the comments are like in every other paragraphs. Then the comments are moved to the end, which is good, until the they became more... more>> and more derisive of the story. I don't get it, why translate something that you look down on. <<less
