Madam, Your Sockpuppet is Lost Again!

Qin Ran grew up in the countryside. She disappeared for one year and lost a year of high school.

One year later, she was taken to Yuncheng by her biological mother to attend school.

Her mother said: your stepfather is from a prestigious family, your big brother is a genius, your younger sister is a top student, you must not lose their faces.

*

Everyone of status in the capital has received a warning from Cheng family’s Junye: Junye’s wife is from the countryside; she doesn’t understand the circle, doesn’t understand the current circumstances, doesn’t understand the financial markets. Her character is very… in short, please excuse me.

Until one day, Junye investigated a big shot, his subordinates looked at the sockpuppet that had come off her while she said she knew nothing about it… they sank into a bewildered silence.

It was probably a story of two big shots trying to hide their sockpuppets* so that the other didn’t feel inferior.

Sockpuppet – internet slang for hidden identity

I quite like this novel. It’s not perfect by any means, MC and ML are Mary Sues of the highest category, the writing gets messy in high tension scenes, some plots are tacked on or dropped for no reason and most mysteries are either not really solved by the end, you get more information about them... more>>
Spoiler

but the biggest mystery of the story only gets a proper conclusion in the second batch of extras

[collapse]
. To enjoy this you have to be open to suspend your disbelief completely and believe that geniuses are born and can do anything (I do mean anything) with or without hard work.

That said, there are many refreshing things in this story. The supporting cast is colorful and interesting, MC makes many friends across the arcs and even if they’re not as relevant to the current arc they’re still talked about as good friends and MC always gives them benefits without ever asking anything of them. Most relationships are very loyal and trusting, while MC is cold she’s truly kind to her friends and family and is never bothered by them even if they’re “below” her level. It’s also great that while there’s a number of green tea b*tches and they do get comeuppance, it’s never violent and most are so harmless they’re ignored. MC hardly bothers with them and it’s usually her friends or over protective ML+all the OP people in the story that quietly handle these people, usually by cutting resources to their families or exposing them
Spoiler

there’s one that actively hurts the MC right before her college exams but she just goes to prison like hours later

[collapse]
. ML protects MC unconditionally, their romance is a very slow burn but the complete trust they build over time is so nice to read so when they’re finally together it’s very satisfying even if the status quo barely changed (really they already acted like they were together for so long that it was pretty much the same after they really started dating).

Qin Ran’s biggest flaw, I’d say, is she’s very passive for most of the story. Obviously with such an OP character as a premise, making her passive was necessary for the plot to work. When we first meet her, her passiveness is explained by her having given up on life. Her grandmother is critically ill and it broke her, she’s just going to school to please her grandma in her final moments. It’s nice characterization, she’s not a complex character. We get to know a lot of stuff she can do perfectly but her core elements are her relationship grandmother and her want to make her proud.
Spoiler

After her grandma’s death, ML picks her up and helps her through everything, you can really see that she’d have shut off the world if it wasn’t for him. She becomes more active after this, discovering things about her family, studying and really trying to help all the people who were there for her. She doesn’t do much for herself, pretty much all the times she goes after something it’s for someone else but I like it because it shows how her she didn’t change much from before when she did things with no regards for her well being.

[collapse]

ML is of course OP as hell to match our MC. He’s reserved and mysterious but never has any problem opening up to MC, helping her out or showing his cards. He doesn’t really have any flaws, he’s kind to MC’s family and friends, is supportive of her every decision, their “fights” are mostly after he finds out another one of her identities but they talk calmly about it and it’s never one of those awful contrived moments in other romance stories where they feel betrayed and leave their partner. Overall a good ML, the guy of anyone’s dreams: hot, rich, powerful, genius smart, supportive, loving, will do anything for you and loves anyone you love. If anyone’s going to complain that he’s too good or that it’s unrealistic, boy this is the wrong story for you.

The story is fine, it escalates quickly and you can get lost by like 500+ characters when so many different people are involved, tons of conspiracies are all over the place, stuff happens but is forgotten soon enough because bigger stuff just happened. It’s certainly flawed but not offensive, it’s a true wish fulfillment story where everyone is perfect, things work out in the end and happy ending for everyone. It fulfills everything it set out to do so I’m not going to criticize it for that.

My biggest pet peeve is when a new arc is coming to a conclusion, MC comes out and does OP stuff in front of more people and/or lots of important supporting characters show up making new characters ogle and be like “OMG WHO IS THIS GIRL AND HOW CAN SHE DO ALL THIS/KNOW ALL THESE IMPORTANT PEOPLE??” It gets old pretty fast when it happens like 15 times and it keeps happening even in the extras. Other than that, I’m not really bothered by much. <<less

Sorry, I have to give this novel 2 star.

I like the plot idea, but the author make the story too rigid, sentences to sentences feels like it was too forced. It doesn't have a good flow like other good novel. I have to grit my teeth to continue reading but then give up because things kept appearing without any sign. Is it just my brain doesn't understand english, or the translation is bad. I don't know, but usually I can handle bad translation. It feels flat to me and I... more>> don't feel the emotions of the characters.

I don't often read novels that have hundreds (or even thousands) of chapters, cause usually they have bad plots or bad writings. I had high expectation when I found this novel because it has high rating, well I expected too much. <<less

It's not bad. I wouldn't be gushing over it. The pacing is good. The author is not too wordy, so it doesn't drag. However, I feel like I'm reading either book 2 or book 3 of a series. There's so many back story that's missing. The author hasn't elaborated on anything at this time. The who/what/when/hows are still missing even at chapter 113. Considering this is long novel, the author should at least have explained something by now to keep his/her audience engaged.

I've been looking for a chance to rate this novel! This is one of my first novels ever, and I decided that it has a special place in my heart. So this novel revolves around Qin Ran. She doesn't transmigrate, neither was she reborn (I think...). All her life (according to some idiotic people), she grew up in the countryside raised by her grandmother. She has bad grades and dropped out of school (like I said, according to some idiotic people). She is violent and good at fighting (no comment,... more>> it's kinda true). It all starts when she is in a hospital with her mom and dad. Her parents divorced a couple years back. The mom left the dad for a rich guy in the city. Their relationship with Qin Ran is strained as they weren't the ones who raised her and because they like their other daughter more. Anyway, Qin Ran is standing in the hallway with her cold and merciless look while listening to her parents fight over who's going to have to take care of Qin Ran once her grandmother dies. Ultimately, the mother, albeit reluctantly, takes her in. Granny's not dead though, or else hell on earth would be unleashed. Here, is where the ML first encounters Qin Ran. Blah, blah, blah. They go to Yunnan (? I think. It's been a while since I read this.), and Qin Ran transfers to the private school there. No one likes her. They think she's dumb. They thinks she's just a vase. But slowly, her identity as a genius is revealed (genius physics student, genius hacker, genius composer ad violinist. The list goes on and on. Ooh! Those satisfying face-slapping scenes. The face-slapping is probs my fav thing about this novel. The ML is the temporary school doctor (just for fun). They become close friends. MC and ML are quite mysterious, actually. Along the way, the readers also figure out secrets of Qin Ran's past, which I haven't figured out yet. We still haven't uncovered all her sockpuppets yet. Cheng Juan (ML) is also a bit mysterious, though not as much as Qin Ran. Anyways, at this point in the novel, the white lotus sister is almost destroyed. Her mom still don't know how to apologize. It's ironic that her step-father and step-brother are more considerate towards her than the actual sister and mother are. The father admits his mistakes, and her younger half-brother is such a cutie. He's basically a mini Qin Ran. Qin Ran storms Yunnan and Beijing with her superior skills in everything and takes over the capital with the capital's prince (ML). So basically, face-slapping? Yes. Annoying white lotus'? Yes. Cool FMC? Yes. Hot and sexy Cool Ml? Yes. Mary Sue? Yes. <<less

This story is great as well but I stopped reading it after some time (but I did finish it lol). But the story is amazing as it was a bit faster than the other genius kind of female lead stories. In some genius FL stories, they are a bit slow and focused heavily on revenge or throwing down the greedy relatives. But this one shows the development a bit fast enough.

Overall, I like the story!

Honestly, this is one of the best novels I have ever read! There are no unnecessary and s*upid complications and the character developments are quite sensible. I really like how they portray our FL Ran Ran and I’m totally in love with her! Buuut... it is really sad that I cannot find any translations beyond chapter 60: ( (I cannot understand why people are not interested in this, it’s not only original and mysterious but it is also a fresh start after all those useless FLs sticking to a... more>> ruthless and cold ML... <<less

It's like a never ending Scooby Doo unmasking a villain. It's the thing that keeps popping up in my head while reading this.

I skimmed most of it cause the plot is easy, not a lot of suspense of disbelief either.

Though the toxicity in most novels aren't here, I feel the target audience is younger.

... more>> And it's mostly dialogue from outsiders pov, and it's weird that there's an underlying hate towards women, like all the enemies were women's prejudice towards MC.

I did like that MC is strong not needing to rely on ML. But it's too strong that she's the miracle child that is able to do physics, can fight in a death underground arena, is a eSports legend, a hacker and programmer. Like you can have 2 or 3 but not all. So unreasonable. <<less

very repetitive and full of plot holes, lots of dumb situations happen just because this time FL by unknown reasons decide to leave people in crime unaffected (based on how some got their bones broken and whole life ruined, others for more serious stuff just ended up in jail or without some job or money)

also even if you can attribute lots of FL stuff to her IQ of 220, some of can't be, not even chance, like her "spent year in no rules mma, first got beaten to half... more>> death then become champion who was undefeated and feared by all" - and that happened before she took drugs or what else (also imagine, its some saitama level of ****, she fought for a year, and her punches become enough to bend steel and break concrete)

ps. At least FL are not Miracle doctor (like most of other garbage), but this negated by fact that her bf from get go are best doctor\surgeon in whole china and outside <<less

I don't know if I will read ths. I'm done with fl's who's only genius but boring when it comes of f throwing provocative words to her enemies or a counter attack by just using words to shvt her enemies up. I'm done of oh I'm genius perfect and I show you but didn't say anything to defend her self for the Pt. Sake you have mouths you it not only using your brain to show that your godly genius. Try to Use your mouth.

THO I'M OBSESSED WITH GENIUS OP... more>> MC ths kinds are kinda disappointing you know. It's kinda tiring when as a reader I am so mad for the MC that she was always belittle and I'm hoping that she can say something to those people who keeps commenting that she was a trÀsh but wtf. She didn't say anything and I'm here being impatience later losing my interest. On waiting for her to show to all that she's genius. Ok not very interesting for me anymore. Also why ths kind of FL keep staying in the place where even here so called family belittle her the hck. If I am her gonna go use my brain to become independent. <<less

Reading this, you guys should not expect it to be the same as other Chinese romance novels you've read, because before anything else, look at the genre of this novel... and yes, romance genre is NOT included.

This is just the typical face-slap-feel-good Cnovel, has slow plot develoment but it's there, you'll see if you can bare with it.

Am pretty satisfied when I read this novel, her past, the sick grandma, the although-silent-but-he's-there-all-the-way-ML. MC looks like she's alone from the start so seeing all those characters that cares about her somehow... more>> makes me feel warm when reading them... though the latter part got be a bit bored so I just skimmed it, I loved the process of the ML accompaniying the MC to help in healing her. <<less

OMG! This was my first mary-Sue novel. One of the best / favorite Chinese novels I've read so far! Characters keep on growing and are way overpowered but that makes them cool even the side characters are interesting I was 90% through before I found out how many chapters there were and I kept on reading all the way to the end. 🥰 Definitely recommend! Main character has way too many 'vests' that accidentally get revealed and could potentially end the world as they know it.

To note: FL is around 18/19 when she first met ML who was around 22ish in the book, both are born genius and inherited their each own anchestors gene pool to the maximum level. Plus she got godly strong body. But the ML was supposedly even stronger than her. bit disappointed on how she treated her baby son. I don't need overly motherhood fever, but still, just weird reading that part.

Quite a good novel for me. It was a little confusing at first with all the characters' hidden identities, and honestly what kept me on continuing to read this was because of the FL. The mystery about her, and her complex relationships with the people around her was gradually explained in the later parts of the novel.

I've finished reading the main story and now left with the extras, but all in all, the author did very well in writing it (as I can imagine that it's not easy with all... more>> the physics stuff involved.)

It's worthy of a five-star rating from me, indeed. <<less

You wont really rate this 1, 2 or 3 if you havent finished this novel. Please dont rate this 2 or 1 if you havent made it to the Capital or Beijing plot and you were still stuck in Yun Cheng saying it was boring. Only those with patience and keen eyes could tell that the novel is a gem when you started to unveil the plot in first 200 chapters. You wont have the guts to say that there is no plot when you reached in Continent M and... more>> encountered the four big majour families and 129

This story, if it isnt a very exaggerated opinion of mine. This is the best and if not the most excellent work I had encountered through all the novels I have read so far. The plots were very stimulating. There are some novels where the plots and twist were predictable to us but this novel had taken it too far. There are some twist and turns in this plot that we didnt expect. The characters in this novel werent just an accessory to let the protagonists shine more. They had their each respective roles and characters that werent just a display to this novel. If you read this novel, please dont underestimate the characters. There are no less ordinary characters surrounding the protagonists even if they seem ordinary at their introduction. The MC, she is the true epitome of indifference. While the ML. Well I couldnt say more to their character but they were really matched well. Their trust to each other is one of the finest qualities they had. Their isnt even a bit of misunderstanding that had caused their relationship a gap. What I really like about them too is how they werent too aggressive when dealing with their enemies. Anyways I wouldnt go on more with their character in this novel but you will know why they are the protagonists and had the strength that couldnt be defied. Each secrets were mindblowing and had left me speechless in this novel. Aiya. I wont really say more but if you have hesitation to read and missed this novel. I would say that it isnt the loss of author but its your loss. :)) <<less

I've been reading it in another place, but I have to say that I'm in love with this novel.

Yes, maybe the MC is too op, but I like it, it's refreshing. I had read other novels with MC that are too perfect and were so boring that I stopped reading it. But this one no.

There's no unnecessary conflicts, and it is going with a good pace.

And to be honest, I like characters that are op. I don't know why, but I like it. The problem is that most of these... more>> types of novels there is a lot of conflicts that made me bored.

So this is totally a 5-rated. <<less

when her grandma died

and after that nothing really happened for 200-300 chapters. Also the extra chapters could have been used in that time over being a extra 140 chapters.

I also thought the main characters was very flat and different from how she is described even after people try to kill her family she does nothing but put one person in jail, and when stuff is done to her she would sometimes do nothing.

There's potentially a good story hidden here, the author teases a few mysteries that could hook you up but unfortunately it fails completely when it comes to execution.

It's extremely boring to go through the chapters, the main character is so indifferent to everything that you have to wonder how and why did she even bother to acquire so many secret identities, she hates noise and trouble but doesn't bother nipping problems at the root, it's absurd.

She simply exists but is never actively pushing the story forward so it becomes a... more>> rather boring read where nothing really happens while you get teased over and over again with those so called mysteries. <<less
