Sometimes, as we go about with our lives, we all happen to think of one specific thought at least once.

What if… I could go back to “that” time?

The funny thing is, the moment you think such a thought is the precise moment when you came back to the past, from the future.

“One more time.”

Life, once again.

I also have to disagree with Arkazzy.
This novel is meant to be a relaxing SOL about a mature MC redoing his life, not a gripping TSOG action or a Extraordinary Genius 'stock empire' novel. And I for one enjoy LOA a lot more than I would if it took a 'Me went back in time so now I'll invest in gOOgle and apple and become a multimillionaire and women are flocking to me handsome and cool and charming' type stories. Mainly bc the MC's are usually asshol- (omitted)
Following that, if you don't find slow paced novels which delves into the psychology of characters interesting you won't enjoy... more>> this. It's fundamentally the same as if you don't enjoy the premise of BL you won't enjoy the story about it. Would BL readers take the opinion of someone who hates the genre's opinion into account? I guess the review would ward off someone looking for thrills, but why they would think of reading this in the first place is a mystery.

I also hate how they mentioned SCOG. Its take on second chance is so damn terrible I can't express how much I dislike it. 5 stars to the author, 1 for the plot and MC. LOA does it much better - characters aren't one dimensional, girls aren't stuck in for the sake of building the MC's harem, MC has a freaking personality and acts his god damn AGE, and no sign of Japanese beta-ass ret*rd MC here.

As for their review of the MC - He is nowhere close to being a simple 'nice guy' - and even further from a self insert. The MC is cool headed, relatable, mature, one track minded, kind, and just so REALISTIC I would like to offer my soul to the author. I have a chant for my favourite MCs which make me forgive bastard cheater/harem collectors. Here it is: JO Minjoon! JUNG Sunwoo! HAN Maru! SHIN KyungHyun! THESE MCs are just so damn precious and cool and... you get the gist.

Anyways, I'd like to say reading this novel every morning is what keeps me going through the day. I'm so in love with this story. Thank you so much, author and translator. <<less

Not a fan. The MC got sent to the past yet there's a weird clause attached. He wont have any knowledge of stock/lottery numbers and he will slowly lose his memories as time progresses and at some point he will only get vague feelings of deja vu when events of the future occur. He has some cryptic mind reading ability so far, but it isn;t really explained or seen in use yet. What this basically tells us is that his reincarnation didn't really have any meaning as he has no... more>> way to take advantage of his foreknowledge.

This worked in Second Coming of Gluttony because not only did he see his memories during important events, he lived in a fantasy world so with the aid of his future self's emotions, he was able to strive for greatness and directly change his fate through strength. That doesn't work in the modern world and I feel like it's where this novel fails. The MC is just reliving the shitty life of a Korean high school student which is probably one of the worst in any developed country, without having access to wealth or foreknowledge. The guy himself isn't particularly smart or likable as he is just going around befriending any clown he meets and saving a weakling from bullies, standard nice guy protagonist stuff. It's utterly boring and I don't see why it deserves such high reviews. <<less

If you've read the ending like I did, you would want to taka a bucket of pure sh*it and pour it into the mouth of the author. The reason is in the spoiler.

The whole of the story all 1027 chapters are useless and redundant. All the build up, the drama, the romance, the relationships are reduced to nothing. The MC gets killed in the end. He gets reincarnated again in the epilogues to get a happy ending, but everything that happened in the main storyline becomes redundant. That is all I'm going to say.

Now, it's up to you if you want to take the risk. <<less

No Negative flaws at the moment and only praises on how the author weave the story. Progression doesn't seem slow either.

Thanks Translator!

... more>> Also, how the heck is there 2, 1 star rating just from 10 good translated chapter? Just because it doesn't fit your taste doesn't mean you can immediately rate it 1*

Edit: Alright, back to 1 star rating mostly because nothing is happening for a good 370 chapters and I have just wasted my time and dedication for a soggy cardboard tasting novel

I hope there would be an improvement in the future or a novel that is bland for 300 chapters wont sell well

Even those Chinese Power-Inflation novels have more variation than this with their repeated face slapping, woman collecting, plot armor events

Wow I never thought I would praise a Chinese novel because of this bland series <<less

This story is slice of life so if your into action just because this is seconds chance then leave and don't rate it.

Story is quite heartwarming and relaxing. Good to read when being tired from all action and suspense. MC is truly a good person and breath of fresh from all the egdy kids. I really like this and it fun to read about friendship. Also excited to read about an actor centered story for new idea. Korean novels have big plus for being easy to read and fun. Translation... more>> is good and expect frequent release since it's wuxianovel.

I rate it aound 4 but change to 5 for now cause some idiots like to rate 1 cause it too booring for them just from the few chapters. It's slice of life so please use your brain before you read or rate it. Well in this world there always those types. <<less

With regards to Arkazzy, he seems to have a different take than I do.

The reason why MC forgets his memories is because it would contradict the story. The story is about a guy struggling between the choice of studying in hopes of a better future where he can provide for his family or his dream of acting. If he could just remember the future and get rich, what’s the point? Another important thing is that in the novel multiple people have went back in time as well without their memories.... more>> Think of it as just a setting for the novel

Yea his powers of reading the mind when some conditions are fulfilled are pretty lame but it’s been 36 chapters and the pace of the story is slow. Maybe it will be more relevant in the future but for right now it’s just a gimmick.

This novel is relatable because we have all struggled before. Should I pursue what I want to do even if it’s not ideal and would be a huge detour if it fails. These are all thoughts the MC struggles with.

It’s a great read you should give it a shot. <<less

It got a very good start... but

I'm very lost with the ending... terribly lost that those hundreds of chapters I've read doesn't really matter in the end. Friendship built in school? it won't matter at the end. Career? Won't matter as well. Its like GoT where the ending doesn't make any sense.

This is a well written story but it wasn't really what I was after. If you enjoy slow-paced introspective works without fancy drama though, then this is right up your alley.

The MC gets a second chance at life and is sent back to his high school period. He is bestowed special abilities but their effects are not explicitly made known to him other than the fact that they are related to 'people'. So far he has an ambiguous mind reading ability which triggers at some moments and the specifics of... more>> the skill are yet to be fully uncovered (at least where I am up to in the novel, ch41). There also doesn't seem to be a strong focus on the skill (s) at this point - it's literally just there.

One of the contractual trade-offs for his relife is that the memories of his older self will fade though he will be aware that he is living a second life and experience deja-vu. In my opinion, this drawback takes away a lot of the potential for the relife premise. It almost invalidates the setting. What you get, essentially, is a story of highschooler with the mental age of a 45 year old and how he changes his views and approach on life. He maintains a sense of realism and lacks the youthful ignorance you would expect of a student which is completely understandable due to his situation. For the same reason, he deprives himself of many opportunities as he lives for the future and for the sake of others rather than in the present and for himself. The story places emphasis on MC's life philosophies, personal development and aim for self-improvement. Don't expect there to be immediate impactful or eye-catching events.

The author has done well in writing each character and conveying their personalities, traits and giving them depth. It is a thought-provoking work but I found it to be bland and it was difficult to maintain interest. As I said before, it is a good work but not my cup of tea. Rating it 3/5 stars due to my preference. <<less

From what I have seen, Life, Once Again has a lot of mixed reviews. A lot of criticisms come from the the lack of achievements during his second life. However, I believe that some people have misinterpreted or misunderstood the genre. There are different variations of slice of lifes. There doesn't have to be a cool MC who beats down others and achieves greatness. The main character had a chaotic life from his frequent job changes to being a travel manager to a bus driver. Once he restarted though, he... more>> could finally stop worrying a little bit and have some fun. Adventures don't always happen every second. The story is mainly based around the characters and their journeys. Frankly, a lot of these kinds of protagonists can be found in xuanhuan stories and I appreciate the nice change of pace. Another complaint is that the MC has a mind-reading ability.

Minor Spoilers

This ability is non-existent to the plot and is only used for the characterization. Throughout the story, the MC has realized that he doesn't need any more gifts other than his rebirth. Instead of using his new found ability for more gains, he wants to be independent. He treats the other characters as real human beings instead of taking advantage of them and treating them like tools for his rise to glory.

Many people have thought about their choices and how it could have gone differently. Life, Once Again isn't a power trip or a story about a man getting revenge. It's just a well written and slow-paced story with meaningful messages about a guy who got a chance to relive and improve his teenage life. The real question is, does characterization triumph over plot for you? <<less

Started off pretty good, turned to sh*t pretty fast.

There’s too much f*cking side characters bro like im not even trolling.
And the story also focuses on the side characters too f*cking much, like dont get me wrong, I love when side characters get the love but what the f*ck bro.

Why is the author so fixated on that dead b*tch? Like how many chapters is it gonna take to finish her back story, and this is for a dead character no less like come on bro.

And the story is also pretty... more>> boring, I mean I get that its a slice of life but still.

And the writing also pretty much goes like this.

“ Do you like acting?”

*insert 1 long ass f*cking paragraph contemplating about a simple question

”I cant say for sure but I am doing it for money but ive recently started to enjoy it”

*insert a long ass f*cking paragraph on why he enjoys acting and blah blah and goes of topic and shit

I may have exaggerated some stuff but 60% of the novel’s content is pretty much like that no cap.

And also the author describes sh*t in too much detail. Like im not even trolling. <<less

Started out 4 or 5 stars and now...

The translator is amazing and objectively the novel is written well. It changes POV to different charcters pretty nicely to make a more immersive world and accurately reflects alot of realities of South Korean society and life in general. Characters are also memorable.

I am fine with the pace (slow achievement, day to day narration) as someone who enjoys slice of life and novels with 1000+ chapters. However, not a fan of where the story is heading midway. Be prepared for changes in the... more>> direction of the novel well into the novel that you may or may not like. Keep in mind the author has said that the author is writing what the AUTHOR WANTS.

Another thing I am not the biggest fan is that sometimes it feels like the portrayal of values is a little off (Others might disagree). It is a little jarring when certain characters you're supposed to like (and many readers do) are dislikeable.

1. MC in real life would be a bit of an annoying, pretentious, know-it all. It's manageable because MC has acting skills and the story is from his perspective as if he really is someone who knows better.

2. There's a 27 y.o. woman that sleeps with men to get ahead in the acting world. This isn't that bad depending on your values but what I find worse is that she is practically harassing one guy and it's written in a comedic manner. She also had relations with a 1st or 2nd year high school student ewwww. That's a character you're supposed to like and most readers do. In my opinion whether you're a man or a women there should be zero harassment.

3. There is also the problem of the author portraying underage drinking as ok. Many adult mentors bring high school students (including underage ones) drinking -.-

The novel is well written, but I don't realy like the MC way of doing things. He got a new life, but he desire just a little more than what he had in his previous life. I can understand wanting to remarry his wife, but does he understand that he won't have the same daughter? Does he know how a child his born? In fact he may even have a boy and not a daughter. He even possess two super power, but he use them so few times because of... more>> his morale. I know that using on his friends or girlfriend is bad because it ruin one relashionship, but if I were I woukd already be in a casino playing poker with his ability of reading others mind. Greed is a part of a human, but this MC is selfless. Moreover he see evryone as a little kid. Even as a slice of life I don't like it so much, because if the too good moral of the MC. <<less

I know its suppose to be 'slowpaced' but really the MC really need to be decisive. This type of novel is usually relaxing and taking one step at a time but in this story's case they took it on the next level.

It became bland and uninteresting. The MC got 2 chance. The old woman told him to "HAVE FUN" this time. MC is suppose to have fun so why the hell is the MC turning his back on things he really wants to do. I know focusing on studying is... more>> important but enjoying your life is equally more important too.

As I read this story, the MC's thoughts appear to be a boring old man in his 50s for me. Its so utterly depressing <<less

This is a really nice slice-of-life novel.

I am drawn to the mature personality of the main character, and the realism of his actions. Although the beginning was a tad odd; the encounters with the angel, and seeing thought bubbles, the plot of the story really draws you in. As a reader, I find myself always looking forward to what the main character will do next, as he brings his adult years' memories and mentality into his second highschool experience.

It worries me, however, that with the original having over 1, 000+... more>> chapters, that the novel will turn stale, dry or repetitive. Only time will tell. <<less

I'm confused by the good reviews. This reads like a grumbling adult in a child's body. Instead of having a grown mentality, it's more like there's a very old-fashioned kid.

He (the MC) has ideas like, "what's there to care much about hair", "military makes you more direct", "bullying is a personal problem, none of others responsibility, they should be able to move forward themselves" (but he went on and became a white knight in the end).

Has the world not progressed in the 30 or so years more he lived?

Not having... more>> high hopes for this one. If you agree (or are not at odds) with those views, you might enjoy the story though.

I'll update the reviews when and if I read more. <<less

Okay let's get started.

This novel seems like a good read at the beginning, but sadly nothing much happens and is very slow. Characters are introduced then barely developed at all, author tries to make them seem deeper than what they really are just reused tropes and cliches. The MC should act like an adult, but he's just behaves like a ignorant old man. There was this one former bully boy who I thought would join the club, but it ends up being just forgotten like so many other characters.

the worst part is that none of this really matters and all of this is nonsense cause he will die and reincarnate again and again and the show will end on him not even joining the club which really doesn't matter anyways since he does nothing there.

I really liked this story at first as it was a fresh approach on time travel but the story becomes almost unbearable in the latter part. In a slow pace story I like certain things that makes the story interesting but the story suddenly changes to very complicated and over the top twist. The sweet romantic arc became a sad story of break up and they started forgetting each other. This is as far I read it because at some point it stopped feeling like a good read. Lastly It's... more>> just my point of view and the author is a very good one and translation is also quite good but I don't think the story is going in the right direction. <<less

Critical Rating: 4
Personal Enjoyment: 2

A bittersweet novel of what a man hopes to accomplish with another change at life.

Should you read it?
This novel is very long and difficult to digest. Don't expect anything amazing from his second chance at life either since it eventually averages out to him being slightly better off.

Personally I found this novel very difficult to pick back up if I didn't marathon through the majority of it. It is very well written and ended in a well thought out way, but I honestly cannot... more>> say I enjoyed it. <<less

While I can understand that this novel is not for everyone, and some rated this novel quite low because it is not their cup of tea, I really can't understand those rating it 2 stars saying MC should enjoy his second life and just have fun...

The whole point at the beginning of the story is the internal struggle that MC has to go through (between acting and studying)... MC mentionned that in his past life, he was struggling to feed his family, and seeing his daughter trying to save money broke his heart... As far as I know, studying in Korea is super hard and you basically have to dedicate your youth to studying in order to be succesful. As such, I find it perfectly understandable that Maru is hesitating, and I would go as far as to say that those who complained about him "not having fun" missed the point, or they simply don't understand the korean society well enough.

To the one who wrote about how unlikely it is for Maru to have the same baby again, I can only say that you didn't read the novel well enough: First, I would like to point out that this is a fantasy novel, he already got reborn, so why not ? And if I remember, at the very beginning of the story, the woman who made him reincarnate said that he could meet his wife and his daughter again in this life.

Lastly, although it is possible and perfectly understandable to not like a story, I would personally refrain from writing a review at chapter 6...

You should have noticed by now that I am really enjoying the story, to the extent that I felt obligated to write this "review" when I saw how underrated the novel is (and when I saw some of the reviews). <<less
