Su Shi was once a platinum-level host with the highest survival rate. One day, his misdeeds of constantly shifting his blame onto others was found out and reported. Convicted of violating the rules, he was bound to an Automatic Blame Shouldering System and exiled to lower-level worlds.

Now, not only does he have to take the blame from others and shoulder it himself, he must also carry that blame and rush to his death in order to earn enough points to quickly unbind from the system.

Su Shi only wants to get rid of the system by shouldering the blame until death. However, he finds that trying to hold onto the blame is even harder than passing it on, and rushing to his death is even harder than running for his life.

As Su Shi lies dying in the protagonist’s arms with red-rimmed eyes and a weak and helpless countenance, an uninvited third guest suddenly rushes out to explain the misunderstanding for him.

Su Shi: “I beg you, just let me shoulder this blame, otherwise, it will all be a waste of effort…”

TO ANYONE WHO READS FROM THE TRANSLATOR:
I noticed that the translator, as many others, set a patreon (you get advanced access to new chapters before they're released for a set amount of money), but because I MTL some novels I take fancy to I noticed inconsistency in chapter numbers. While I opened 47th chapter in raws to continue Arc 2, I realized that in original Chinese it's already a new Arc all together. I searched and found out that the events that happen around chapter 45-47 (according to translator)... more>> are actually part of chapter 22 (according to original). I checked few raw sources and the result is the same. Thus I'd like to bring your attention to this fact, because, in all honesty, I'm not against people getting ko-fi or bonuses for their work, it's hard and it's still work, saying this as a translator myself and I don't take it upon myself to claim things (since I don't know where translator takes their raw source and the reason for cutting chapters into several parts but numbering them as full chapters), but this inconsistency still exists, so keep that in mind. It's the second time I come across such a thing. On other site I read "I Became A Virtuous Wife and Loving Mother in another Cultivation World" (a really tr*shy novel btw) which had a situation where chapters were also cut differently (the site is called Flying Lines, and they have the tendency to cut chapters like that in other novels as well), but if you want to read further of that particular novel, ANY reader should pay with the site's currency (which can be earned - slow process, requires your constant presence on the site and by spending money - fast process and by comments there I must say there's a lot of spenders to my surprise) and if there's more chapters there's no need for me to tell you that you have to spend more currency. Same with tiers. When you think you got 10 chapters and originally there was like 3, I don't think that's a fair deal. It's anyone's choice how they choose to read and if they decide to spend or be a freeloader, but I think that the spending part of the reading community should be informed of what they're getting.
You can treat my words however you'd like to. <<less

So cute!

When I say this, I'm referring to how ML is super doting to MC throughout all arcs. ML never hurts the MC and really respects the MC's opinions. Another plus is that the ML never hesitates to hug and cuddle with MC, regardless of time and location.

This novel is really just pure unadulterated sweetness — no angst (from MC anyway) and definitely no cold treatment from ML either (ML is smart so he always sees through MC's lies immediately, resulting in ML piling up the love on MC within... more>> the first few pages of the arc).

TL;DR:

Let Me Shoulder This Blame! Is really heartwarming to read and is perfect for those who just want to read something super sweet and calming. <<less

There's [ I’m Not Shouldering This Blame ] and then there's this novel. Haha ≧∇≦

The MC is doing his best at being the scapegoat/villain but it's not enough. The ML still finds him at some point...

I've decided to drop this story before even finishing the first arc so maybe take my review with a grain of salt. If anything I say doesn't bother you then I feel like you should absolutely finish this story. And the come contact me if all possible and tell me if my first impression was wrong.

I absolutely abhor the author continually mentioning that Su Shi "was once a platinum-level host with the highest survival rate" when the skills shown in the actual story are simply awful.

It would be fine, amazingly... more>> funny actually, if this was caused by some outside force like in The Villain's White Lotus Halo, but the MC makes no indication that there's anything out of the ordinary that's causing the misunderstandings. Or it would be fine, and honestly touching, if it was just the ML who realizes that the MC is not as he seems like in Holding Onto My Man, but even side characters realize the dececption so the MC just comes across as amazingly s*upid to me.

The main problem so to speak is that the system system isn't explained clearly from the start. Why was it such a bad thing that the MC pushed the blame on to others in the first place? What does shouldering the blame even mean? Does it mean being a scapegoat and taking the blame for other people's actions? Then why bother even doing "villainous" acts on your own? Just take the credit of all the other horrible things other people have done. Is it that he's supposed to be an anti- villain or hero, whose good intentions are carried out with questionable means? Or maybe it means like the otome villainesses whose evil deeds come to light after an intense struggle with the protagonist? In any case, I feel like it shouldn't be the I-work-behind-the-scenes-and-sacrifice-my-everything-for-you type of goal the MC seems to be carrying out in this fic. Heroic Death System does it so much better where the MC has to die impactful so the misunderstandings and angst all makes sense.

Honestly, I can't tell if the misunderstandings are supposed to cause humor or angst so it just leaves me feeling distant from either the MC or ML because of how incredibly s*upid they are in not understanding one another. <<less

MISLEADING REVIEWS ON N.U

so while reading reviews on N.U I found some reviews saying that " YOU NEED TO USE REAL MONEY " in order to read some novel in a app (probably the rest too that needs SP...) Idk if I will laugh or cry because that review is too misleading... first, you can earn SP through daily rewards, check-in and 1hr reading, you just have to be patient to be able to earn SP and thats what I did in order to catch up with IBVWLM, now... more>> I'm doing it for RSP since im still 100chapters behind... but if you dont have the patience to wait for daily rewards etc... that's when purchasing is an option... if you cant wait then buy SP to be able to read, but if not then wait everyday to earn almost 30sp a day which is enough a couple of chapters... it wasn't that hard waiting (ಠ益ಠ) dont just spouting that we need money to read a certain novels even saying that some Translators have patreons/kofi but didnt do any good translating and even cutting the chapters into parts, , I have read so many novels with the translator having kofi, I have never given a penny even on FL but I can still read for free... there is one thing I am gonna say, IM THANKFUL TO EVERY TRANSLATOR OUT THERE WHO SHARES NOVELS that sometimes I know they buy the raws, the translators never force readers to give them money its still our decisions if we will or not, we should be thankful to. them that they dedicated their time translating this novels for free. (im not saying thankyou to those who like to steal others work)

This one's really cute. The main character Su Shi is very obedient and hardworking. He tries his best to complete the tasks handed to him, even though they usually fail anyway lol.

I think this is the only part of the story that annoyed me from the beginning. The blurb states that he committed the misdeeds of constantly shifting blame from himself to others, but based on the personality he's shown as you read the story, obviously, he would feel too guilty to do anything like that. So, was he actually... more>> a really shitty dude, but the story suddenly decided to make him cute and diligent, or maybe what happens to him throughout the worlds happened before as well? Maybe, he didn't intentionally shift the blame, but his innocence caused people to automatically think he wasn't a bad guy and thus not the one who did bad things even if he did?

Idk, but I feel bad for him lol. <<less

There are soooo many plot holes and the feels barely patched them up for me.

Spoiler

In arc 1 alone I was bombarded by them but the one I hate most is that the MC just needed to show blood to get into the protective cover around Terence but he stabbed himself in the chest, and no one got suspicious? I mean he could've just pricked his finger.

Also if he died due to exposure to anti-matter radiation bc he stepped into the shield why did he deactivate the shield? Isn't the area totally unprotected from said radiation now?

EVEN WORSE if staying in the protective covering for a few seconds was enough to make MC cough blood till he died, despite being boosted by enough royal health potions that he could heal from a deep chest wound within a few minutes, then Terence should've died after being in the protective covering for so long WITHOUT needing MC to do anything.

ALSO ML keeps comparing MC to a child, and calls him pure as if untouched BUT if MC had to be Marshal for 4 plus years there is no way he can actually be so "pure".

ML immediately likes MC in Arc2 even tho he admits he barely knows MC. How can someone instantly like a stranger just by looking at him for a few minutes!? So much that they take precedence over a blood related younger brother who they grew up with!? THERE'S NO PLAUSIBILITY! Maybe at the end of novel it will show something like white lotus halo but im not willing to read the rest of this novel.p to find out.

[collapse]

So. Im outta here.

if you can bask in the feels without major and obvious plotholes disturbing you then this is a great novel, bc the feels are overpowering. Thats the only reason I gave this a 3. <<less

i liked this more than I thought I would. There's no ABO, 3 gender or mpreg which was fine by me. There was also no r*pe (as far as I could tell with MT) which is also a good thing. There were several tragic endings like Heroic Death System and it did seem like the MC never got to live in a totally healthy body; not in all the stories, but in most of them. The MC was all brain and very little brawn so don't expect him to punch... more>> holes in mountains or anything like that (his body is almost always sick/hurt/poisoned etc). The ML was the doting, protective caretaker type without a lot of jealousy for dramas sake, and no yandere (i was beginning to think most Chinese ML were closet psychotics with dominance issues). There is a lot of sweet and gentle moments between the two and the ML always finds him almost right away.

now lets talk about the ending. This ending was one of the more satisfying ones that I've read in a quick wear novel. Usually the endings are rushed or they lose momentum and fade out or they just kind of suck and it's usually only one or two chapters. This one was very interesting
Spoiler

though I don't understand why they want to go back to the "real" world so badly. It wasn't really clear with MT or I missed that sentence

[collapse]

I'm giving this a 4 and not a 5 because I still have some unanswered questions. Maybe it will be cleared up later in the translations and if that's the case i'll change it then. <<less

I feel like the bar for these kind of novels are so low, I tend to overlook most things. However, I want to point out how inaccurately deafness is portrayed in the entertainment arc.

Usually, deaf people do not speak softly like MC when they can't perceive the volume of their own voice, but they will speak loudly, and in some cases, have slurred words. Moreover, most (most as in like 95%) deaf people can not read lips because one's deafness does not suddenly give them that skill. If you can't... more>> read lips, they can't either.

I wish the author had taken the time to research this topic. If you inaccurately represent the entertainment industry, it's no skin off anyone's back. But as someone who studies sign language, I have a problem with people glorifying deafness it in a story. This isn't necessarily a proper review. I don't have any opinions regarding this novel, story and characterwise. Treat this more as a PSA, similar to any other one you've probably seen. In trying to be pretentious and make everything seem lovely and beautiful, novels like this one will have many shortcomings as a result. Deaf culture and sign language can be beautiful, but not in the way portrayed here. <<less

Out of all the world hopping/quick transmigration stories this is story that has the most satisfying ending for me. I'm often really displeased with rushed and half-hearted endings but this one I really loved! From the author comments it also seems that there is a sequel with one of the characters they met. I might go and read that one as well. Just need a MTL break...

The novel itself remains good, if overly full of whump (which I love, so no complaints on that front either). However I somewhat dislike the recent trend of translators taking anywhere from 5-50$ for translations of chapters they hoard for money.

If the money was donated to the author or used to purchase the rights to reading chapters, I'd understand, but obviously these sums are taken by the translators for their own use. While a little money in donations for the effort that goes into translating is fine, benefiting monetarily from... more>> someone else's work like this seems more than dodgy and well into illegal.

I used to think translating these novels is an effort of love and wanting to spread a novel you enjoyed to more people, without costing the original author anything, since their works are unlikely to reach us in another way; but the whole money-walling makes cheap mockery of the supposed "love" for these stories.

Sorry for the rant, but this seems to be an increasingly common thing in the community, and my threshold reached the limit. <<less

What to say... so far I have mixed feelings on this. On one hand I like it and the idea behind it. Having a scheming bts person that pushes everyone into pits become the hero that silently shoulders the blame for all, is interesting. I could also understand a rocky start at getting used to doing the exact opposite of his instincts but bleepity bleep bleep its painful for me. When it started, I was sincerely hoping he'd die in dishonor (weird right haah) as arc 1 kept progressing... more>> and his task kept regressing I started wishing I could transmigrate to him to kill him myself and not because of the task but because of the s*upidity. First arc made me question my morals. Second arc just started and it's not so bad. I think others would enjoy this story. I just don't know if I can hold out with my mood swings of wishing death to the MC for his points or just wanting to passionately murder him to put the MC and the reader (me) out of our misery. I rated it 3 and will continue to read and might up the score as the story progresses. If not I personally couldn't hold out but think others would like it. <<less

A classic novel about a man who only wants to die with the blame. Like, he doesn’t even care anymore, he just courts death and keeps getting misunderstood by the Ml, who pokes holes into our shou’s plans. I really pity him—it was perfect until he arrived.

I read MTL. And just finished arc one. I hated how the arc goes. Su Shi is definitely dumb enough to not know how to deal with disobedient male protagonist. He should've learn from MC in Supporting Male Lead.

I don't believe a marshal not carrying a hand gun or two, this situation of losing such landslide of point could have been prevented.

Anyway, this 1st arc is heartbreaking but it's glaringly dumb for such a seemingly clever character. I won't rate yet, I want to finish reading whole novel before I... more>> rate. I just want to rant my frustration out, lol.

Update: I cannot finish reading this novel, I only got to the fantasy 48h arc and just. It's a dumb shou x disobedient dumb gong. It's dumb. I hated it. I'm sorry. I won't rate it, because I feel that it won't be fair to the people who likes this novel. Because novel-wise it is a good story and many people will like it. I just really hated the characters (¯口¯)

Rather this, I think it's better to just read Perfect Destiny :v <<less

Well, the chapter count in the translation and raw is different, so I don't know which chapter I've finished according to the original novel's chapter count. After ch 56, there will be 4/5 more chapters to end the 2nd arc I guess. Somebody mentioned this already - this is similar to "Heroic Death System" or "How to Die as Heavy as Mount Tai". The difference is that this novel our MC's characters have to die in infamy first and get posthumous glory when the misunderstandings are resolved. The tragic... more>> undertones are there and despite the hasty romantic development, I feel sad for the ML. He has to see his lover die in front of him in a tragic and painful way and is wracked with guilt. There are quite a few plot holes but it was quite enjoyable, especially, the MC's reaction at failing to shoulder the blame was hilarious 😂

However, like many others mentioned already, the novel isn't the best example of it's genre. So, I won't urge you to read it of you have better stories to enjoy. <<less

This is one of the best QT tag novel. What I love the most is the ML is soo sweet to the MC. He doesn't force MC to love him, he just naturally love and did it in sweet way which is why I like it. If you like, "How to die as heavy as Mount Tai" or "Heroic Death System", this is a light-hearted-yet-has-its-serious-moments-mix of the two novels. Make sure you don't forget the "main characters" of every world! Karma is paid forward is all I can say, and you'll thank me when things make a lot more sense in the last arc! The story goes full circle.

The ML is the sweeeeetest, most adorable ML ever! He's always trying to 'help' the MC, even if it means clarifying all the misunderstandings and dispelling the blame... more>> our poor MC is trying so hard to shoulder.

Although it's a quick-wear novel, the worlds they hop to are well fleshed out, side characters aren't 2D but dynamic and changing. If you're left kind of lost after an arc, don't worry, most plot holes are filled in the last arc. If they aren't, they don't take away from the overall plot.

Spoiler

I seriously need a spin-off novel about [Dark] ahem, our lovely dark-villian-type-employee and the [God of light] ahem, the Main System. Like seriously, their love story is probably 9001% pure comedy!!
