“Hey, hurry up and massacre those bandits!”

“No way, I don’t want to work…”

Spending my daily life in leisure, that was my pastime—until I was summoned into another world and met a blonde loli introducing herself as Dungeon Core No. 695.

“Save my dungeon. By the way, if the dungeon core is destroyed, you’ll also go down with me as the dungeon master.”

A dungeon with a single room. Moreover, one already controlled by bandits. This is a [Checkmate] no matter how you look at it. Guess there’s nothing to do but somehow get out of this situation so that I can [Not Work]!!

By far, this is my favorite dungeon light novel. The protagonist feels like a real college student. Sloth? He is about as slothful as the average person trying to get the remote after it has fallen off their bed--as in he puts 100% more effort into doing something the 'lazy way' but is way more strenuous than just doing it. Naps? Isn't that the dream? I wish I could take a nap. 10/10 best wish fulfillment.

He is still quite oblivious, but I feel like his obliviousness comes from a lack... more>> of care. He doesn't care about the people who live near his dungeon--He cares for his friends and dungeon core waifu. His misunderstanding with Meats name is 100% Meats fault.

I like how this has a town building aspect to it, and the towns men are all likable characters. I don't really like the characters that don't live near/in the dungeon all that much (to me they feel very flat even though they can be reacuring). The only exception to this is the Hero--but even he is pretty one-note.

So far this isn't really a 'villain' in the story. BUT there is a lot of action on conflict in it. My favorite arc was the one where he traped two annoying adventures into a time loop to practice crafting his boss dungeon

Or rather, not a time loop, but instead, he practiced brainwashing magic to make them forget the last session and when after they lost an arm, he made a prosthetic and made them think it was their real arm--or even their real comrade

The worst character is 'oh my armer flys off when you hit me' weird person. I think they are the same character that is a 'trap.' reverse-trap? They show up in the latter half of the book and are annoying and wont leave

I like that the main characters aren't a horn dog (he does like women, but he's not like "boobs"). As a girl, It's very refreshing to have a non-degenerate protagonist who isn't a loser who can't even look at girls.

He does have s*aves (as expected from this genre) but they are so far friend-zones. (or is it pillow-zoned?). I doubt anything romantic will happen with them.

The best thing is

That he has ended up with his wife (yes, they are currently married).

This fic has made me laugh a lot and I deeply recommend this to others from the bottom of my heart.

I may not have a leg fetish or a pen*s but I sure see myself in this silly little man. <<less

Overall, the story is serviceable. The translation is good. The characters are passable (a cutout MC with some occasionally cute supporting character). The dungeon mechanics are fun and interesting as in most stories of this type (if a bit nonsensical at times). Altogether the story is painfully average, but fine.

Normally, I wouldn't write a review about this kind of story, but there is one element that was a huge negative to me and almost made me drop in the very first arc. It has one of the most disgustingly casual... more>> uses of r*pe that I have ever seen in a story. It involves a severely under-aged girl and a group of bandits. Reading it was frankly pretty disgusting in a way that just reflected poorly on the author as opposed to portraying the traumatic nature of the situation. This happens at the beginning of the story to an important character who sticks around for the whole story. Her name is Meat... classy right? It never gets changed for reasons that are s*upid. In hindsight, I should have dropped it right there.

Like I said, the rest of the story (up to 175) is passable, but the author can still go f*ck himself. <<less

Contrary to other reviews that score this novel poorly; a higher rating is deserved when considering the series as a whole.

I will try to keep this short:
With characters based on the seven deadly sins or virtues, Lazy Dungeon Master is a humorous and interesting light novel. If Sloth’s (the MC) laziness annoys you at first, keep in mind that from around volume 3 onwards he shows many interesting traits and his laziness is only played for laughs afterwards.

The first two volumes act as introduction material; illustrating the basics of... more>> the world and the dungeons within. Once the world building is in place, it dives into dungeon building and adventurer invasions. Clever use of tricks are used to great effect, beating strong opponents with low effort.

It is a charming, comfortable novel I would highly recommend to many. <<less

The MC is kind of terrible. His "personality quirk" is laziness. And honestly, its not entertaining and fun.

I gave it a chance for about 40 chapters. Unfortunately, the MC's habits and laziness don't become more endearing, and actually become more and more annoying. It gets boring.

His laziness quirk gets pretty old, pretty fast. It wasn't really funny or interesting in the first place either, but reading it every chapter makes it worse. The best character in this series, the loli dungeon core is barely mentioned in future chapters. Her childish... more>> cuteness actually keep me reading for a while because it was amusing. His harem, the loli s*ave, and the gluttony girl don't have much personality and are part of the generic harem stereotypes. Its honestly not fun, and has nothing much to offer.

After reading Evil God Average, I was hoping this would add something new to the genre. But it doesn't. Nothing at all. In fact, its actually more boring. Since the MC himself can't carry the novel, and the support characters (except the loli core) aren't interesting either. As much as I like the dungeon core, the irritating MC, bad support characters, underwhelming world building, makes it not worth reading.

Oh and the scene about the loli s*ave getting raped night after night was a HUGE turn off. That is the beginning of the downfall of enjoy ability of this series. No really. That happened. And it was annoyingly descriptive. I thought to myself, am I really reading this? And I was. It was in there. I don't know anyone would like reading that (outside of reading straight up hentai. Yeah, you know who you are... you pervs).

Ugh. Gross.

I rate 1/10.

Not worth reading. I suggest skipping it. <<less

Very slow at first but once MC has enough resources to build out his dungeon, it becomes very interesting quickly. For once, it’s a MC that uses his knowledge and intellect to design his dungeon and maximize efficiency instead of just bulldozing over everything with cheat skills like 90% of transported WNs. And once again, MAKE IT PASS THE FIRST DUNGEON BATTLE before forming any opinion please.

I was in the group that give it 1/2 star when I first started this WN, and God sorry! I was so wrong this novel start to shine only when you have passed the first dungeon battle, it's the whole "Asakura Yoh" policy... more>> all over again, and the LOL is comparable when you read Konosuba. I certainly won't give this 5 star (I doubt I will ever rate something at 5 star but this is definitely worth 4.5 star) the reason is how the author properly give adversaries to MC and how MC did his best to be smart (cheap?) in his approach. I simply got absorbed reading this work and now I CANNOT let it go. <<less

Don't want to waste time reviewing this.
Positive stuff:
- potential for interesting abilities and plot
- MCs schemes
- dungeon system

Negative stuff:
- MC pretty generic, boring and lifeless without a personality, life before pretty much non-existent. His quirk: whining about his need for sleep.
- MC no conscience at all, for no reason at all. I guess it's fine since a lot of light novelists do not bother explaining why their MCs have no problems with causing the deaths of innocent ppl or seeing a little girl get... more>> raped every night by the bandit boss. However, why does the MC suddenly get hypocritical when that s*x s*ave is about to die? Something like, I won't be able to sleep if I do not save her from the fire, I am Japanese after all and therefore uncomfortable with something like this (that is what he says in ch12). Seriously, after seeing her get raped so often... so fickle.
I am not bothered by cruel depictions etc, but do not try to look like a good person when you are such a piece of tr*sh.

Conclusion: Many ppl actually seem to like this novel as it apparently gets more interesting later on. However, if you hate poorly written characters and the mentioned negative aspects, then don't bother. <<less

I'm fine with lazy characters, but this MC is more of a scum character than a lazy character. ... more>>

Like he purposefully waits until after the little loli is raped before saving her, what, because he feels saving her is inconvenient? Then, when he finally does save her and turns her into his s*ave, instead of learning the other world's language himself, he goes out of his way to have the dungeon core teach the s*ave loli the language, all so he doesn't have to go through the effort to write for himself.

Then there're the "misunderstandings" that drive the "humor." I'm personally not a fan of cringe humor, even more so when the MC purposefully walks into the cringe-worthy situation. For example,

when he learns the loli s*ave was previously named "Meat" (a slang for s*x s*ave) by the former master, he makes no attempt to change it, even though he realizes the meaning. Of course, as expected, he's treated as a pedophile by every human character he meets, all for the sake of a "comedic" situation. Then when he receives his first adventurer request (cleaning toilets, wtf), the MC comes up with some convoluted lies in order to hide the fact he is good at magical toilet cleaning (who cares?) all so that he can have more "hilarious" misunderstandings? Moreover, not only does he go through so much effort to hide his "amazing (?) " abilities, but he makes it look like he left his loli s*ave to clean the toilets by herself while he played around on the town.

If you're looking for a semi-serious story, stay away from this one. It's 90% comedy, only every single comedic situation is a complete miss. Unfortunately, a great concept is wasted by poor humor. <<less

As of Chapter 72, it's been really good. The novel's all about managing a dungeon and gaining as much DP (dungeon points) as possible. Since the DM is so lazy, he does this as efficiently as he could, breaking the conventions of what normal DMs do using his knowledge from the other world. There's a bit of an overarching plot but so far, it has no bearing on the life of our lazy protag. Character interactions are pretty good as well, and I often chuckle at their reactions.

The story was better at the beginning, then just slowly degraded in quality as chapters progressed. The plot has died off, and all that remains is a sucky slice of life fantasy novel. The MC is aimless and boring, the only thing keeping the early chapters interesting was that there were conflicts for the MC to solve. However in the last 150 chapters there has been zero meaningful conflict, all that happens is a "genius" MC amazing people with otherworld goods while having a harem of soggy bread.

One of three? Jap novels I actually enjoyed reading that was not porn. While there is some generic AF adventuring it is more means of end for establishing MC in the world. Excellent novel for all dungeon management seekers. Some points like point system (omg) for dungeon and summoning food from Japan is as frigging generic as possible but still considering it is jap novel it is a real gem. Warning in quite some places weird comedy!

The series itself has an interesting premise... A dungeon master who is lazy and just wants to sleep all day. If you think that's all there is to it, you couldn't be more wrong! Laziness is the mother of Invention, one doesn't make shortcuts or invent tools because they love working. They do it because they DON'T! The MC is very smart, he finds way to do the most work with the least effort.

Also I rate his Laziness at God Level... He should totally be the Deity of Laziness,... more>> I strive to be at least half as lazy. <<less

"It's not abou the story, it's about how you get drunk in the story" well if mentioned that way, then it has a pretty messed up overall plot, at first it'll get your expectation for dark going by the scenes, then another one, is the expectation for action with the MC's OP concept versatile power, only for him to laze at the turning point expected, expectation after going to the Novel generic adventure guild, only to get a quest back home, this story betrays all your expectation, but when you... more>> let your guard down it then started a very immersive Dungeun Battle, and then turns mellow again! The intoxication acts like a pit hole, despite being overly mellow itself it suddenly drops you into a hole full with excitement. Though I don't enjoy having betrayed my expectations when I read, I think pit holes are foul play. No good! I'm turning M. <<less

Even though many people rated it lower, I still think this is a good novel. I'm not an expert by any means, but this is one of the novels where you and another person might laugh at the different jokes. The story isn't that bad to be honest, the only thing I'm not fond is probably how the MC laziness is a bit inconsistent (lazy yet keeps working). If you're gonna be lazy, be lazy all the way!!!!! Is what I wanted to say, but that probably wouldn't be very... more>> interesting.

Anyway, because this novel rating will vary between persons, you should try to read first, as it might be a good one for you.

btw as an extra: I like how the MC treats s*aves very well, and damn, he's quite good trolling people. <<less

This is really really really really boring. Like the MC is very boring, all he does is complain about how he want to sleep all the time. Why don't the MC kill himself? Note to the writer, We already know how lazy the MC is. You don't have to bring it up every f*ckING chapter.

Bandit boss bought a loli s*x s*ave. Loli girl keep getting r*pe don't know how many days. What does the MC do? He does nothing until after the bandit boss was killed and the MC took... more>> her in. Her name was Meat... Meat yeah sounds like a good name for a little girl. "MC didn't change her name" Now every town he goes to the villager thinks he is a pedo. Ha ha ha. Im dieing of laughter. -.-

If the author is having trouble with a ending for this, I got one. Meat kill the MC the end. MC will say something like I wish I can sleep forever. Meat Okay your wish is Granted. MC dies and got his wish and Meat will become the new dungeon master. Good ending right?

I rate this as a 2 stars because of 2 reason #1 The lame humor #2 Uninteresting MC. <<less

This novel is about a dungeon core that summons a boy from japan who accidently names her and becomes the dungeon master. The problem, he is super lazy and all he wants is to sleep. To be able to do that comfortably he uses his rather smart brain to quickly gain a lot of dungeon points to enhance the dungeon, get lots of foods and even starts out as an adventurer, even though he mostly does odd jobs like cleaning a bathroom with magic in the beginning, but his "adventures"... more>> will get much more interesting the more the story progresses. This novel is a rather lighthearted novel with a few dark points, one of the darkest being the r*pe of an under age s*ave beast girl, but it is done in a well written way. (Not every written world has to be a happy go lucky world)

I really recommend this story to everyone who likes to be lazy himself (kind of a paradox?), who wants something light to read with lots of funny things inbetween and who loves food. Srsly. PS: There is a loli hug pillow. Just saying. <<less

Well, uhh... This is purelyy personal problem, but... I hate first person POV.

Well, before that, let me tell you first how I even reached ch 49, and why I put it off.

At the start, the bandit arc, I really endured it, like literally endured. Yeah, but then that happens, and this happens, and shit. I don't even know how I got to where I am right now, but along the way, I get to see a raped loli who turns into innocent type loli, no wait, scratch that, I mean... more>> child, not loli, errr.... c*ck eating s*x s*ave who turns into a, uhh, I dunno, some kind of annoying maid, wait, no, bodyguard, uhh, wait wait, ah, I meant poison tester girl (new type trolol), and uhh... I guess that's all. For s*aves that is. And then there's, uhh, let's see here, overf*ckINGused skills I guess? Well, there's only two, was it clean up? The one that everybody knows and should by now be common sense in their world since it didn't suddenly pop out and ppl get brainwashed into thinking it is common, which begs the question why the hell does it feel so awkward? And the other one, it was uhh, golem create? He's pretty much using it for everything. Now here's the thing about the golem one. One thing I really like about the novel is the MC's power. I dunno where he got it tho, but it lets him understand every language orally, and can cast and modify every magic out there because the magic spells are from an ancient language that only the MC prob understands in present time. Sounds so cool right? But look at how the aithor uses this: by repeatedly using the only spell that probably exists on the entire world, I mean MC skillset, that can be modified. It looks cool that using it for, uhh, cool stuff, but is there nothing else out there? Imagine the fkin possibility of this cheat... dangit.

Now I guess to the last part, uhh yeah. The MC. Ugh, where do I start with japanese monologue with unfunny jokes that are prob hindered by culture barrier? That's ok and all, but it is so f*cking.... fk, gah, my chest itches... a lot! First person POV description is... just killing me!!!! The monologue.... save me.... there are just a lot of times where MC just kinda feel like... gaaah, how do I even explain this shitty hate I have for first person POVs. Look, I tried that death march thing, I couldn't survive past c3! And then I also tried that realist hero chronicles one. Two parts I so hated about the novel... the idol group and the f*cking cooking show! Uggghhhh, I was almost up to the latest translations, until my chest started bleeding from scratching... fuuuuu-

Well anyway, the thing I hate most about the novel, aside from being japanese (lol) is the characters. Well, not really hate, more like I can't be invested, and that just makes them all look like they speak nonesense. I like nobody in the novel, how did I even reach Inn building part.

Well anyway, before I lose it, I better go now. Ciao, Peace Out. <<less
