Okay, so at first when I was reading this I was so confused as to why such a great story has such low reviews. But after reading it more, I sorta get it. The pacing is pretty quick, not so much breakneck pace, but quicker than your standard novel. But personally I don't think the pacing being a little fast should attribute it to waves of 1-star reviews. I believe 1-star reviews are only for the worse of worse novels. Which this novel is quite far from.

I also get why... more>> the author made the pace so fast because both the male and female lead were reborn their feelings have long ago been realized. They don't dance around one another like other couples. In this life, they both already know what they want. I think some people believe this novel to be something it isn't. This novel isn't about schemes and face slapping, it's about two lovers who had a tragic ending and got a second chance. So the novel is gonna focus more on their relationship then all the other things.

Another thing people might dislike is how old they are. The female lead is 14, while the male lead is 17, and that is the age where they get married. But you guys are looking at this from a modern perspective, which this novel is clearly not set in. In ancient China, people married as young as 15 for males and 12 for girls. Sure that's very illegal nowadays, but back then it wasn't. Another point is that both of them are mentally older, both, not just one side. Meaning they've already gone through everything, and it's just their bodies that are different.

All in all, like one commenter said this is a refreshing straightforward romance that cuts through all the bullsh*t and gets to the point. <<less

This review is only focused on the first 69 chapters, so the series might improve after that. But it has not given me any reason to continue reading further.

Firstly, regarding the age of the leads. I have no issues with that on a moral level, so that isn't even considered in this review.

My biggest issue with this series is the fact that we are seeing the perspective of the female lead. Am I mysogynistic? Not really. It's just that she is a bland piece of human... more>> flesh. From a strong female general, she now turns into a lass who just wants to watch roses and embroider pouches. The palace politics series are awesome when done right, but this is just poor.

The top consorts are enemies because... They don't like the names of their servants? The plots are just... Mere difficulties thrown at someone? This is the most characterless set of Imperial family that I have seen.

For some others, the lack of initial romance means that a wonderful quick paced drama is unfolding. For me, it just means that the author decided to side step it. Is there anything to compensate for it? Nope. Everyone around the main couple are just wooden mandarin ducks who are being controlled by the strings of destiny. That's it.

This is a very regular series, which further lacks romance elements as well. Romance might as well be filler material. All there is to their romance is a paragraph of them rolling around in the sheets, and it isn't even smut. The only reason I am not giving it a 2 is because of the rather decent first 2 chapters. That's it. Oh and also, the relationships are straight, yuri and yaoi. Plenty progressive for hollow romances.

Considering how quick paced this series is, we are yet to even see the parents of the female lead. Even through her marriage! The drama is lackluster because of the narration technique used... This just seems like an amateur author who had a good idea. That's it.
