I really enjoy the story because of the FL's will and the actions she takes through out the story. She doesn't have a drastic change of suddenly becoming assertive nor aggressive. The build up of her finding confidence is a good pace and more realistic than a 180 change in personalities. She understands the power of her new status as the saint and she takes the advantage of it well. As those who betrayed her crawl to her to make a deal, she's unbending to make a deal that benefits... more>> them more than it benefits her. FL knows she doesn't owe anyone anything and won't give anyone the satisfaction to play fair. She's honest on how she feels about people and doesn't play the long game of putting on a show, she gets to the point to which I enjoy reading this fresh pace of not having to read chapters of a long play and the her dialogues of how she feels about revenge.

Spoiler

The king of North had asked to make a deal that will be fair for the both of them after she agrees with his plans, but she shoots him down, telling him that her being alive is more than enough for it be a fair deal and she will never make a fair deal with him. The other kings have tried to make some sort of deal with her too, but she will retort of what they put her through instead of a proper answer. She constantly reminds all the kings that she doesn't trust any of them.

The other characters in my opinion don't stand out as much. The north of duke is pretty much the only decent character in the story who tries his best to take care of the FL. There's not much info on the other saint at this moment (currently on ch 44), expect that she's depressed she didn't get chosen. The Goddess herself hasn't made a great impression so far. I hope there will be more expansions on the characters and their goals that correlate to the saint status or even outside of it too. Appearance spoiler:

Spoiler

A lot of people around the FL critic her appearance up until her ceremony as she shares the same outward traits as a demon, thus leading to her cruel treatment by everyone. The goddess explains to the FL that she is beautiful although she shares the same characteristics as the demons, as they once used to be her children too. The goddess wants to correct the bad image of black hair and red eyes as all colors are beautiful.

[collapse]

I understand that the plot overall is cliché, especially the origin story of the FL and the treatment she goes through. In terms of how she carries herself and the pace of vengeance, the read is still worth a try in my opinion. The chapters are short and it's still in the beginning stages. I hope in the future that there will be more to come to the story. <<less

Your run of the mill “I was the true saintess all along” revenge stories. Only 10 chapters have been posted but I’m already over it.

Burt, king of the north, is the obvious male lead as he is quite literally the only one that goes to check on her after the su*cide attempt mentioned in the description. The other three kings are busy chatting about the best way to use her. They’re set up to be irritating already.

Then you’ve got Remiel, the other saintess candidate. “It should have been me” type.... more>> She’s everyone’s perfect, bestest girl and can do no wrong. Generic white lotus bs bc she’s clearly a

behind closed doors but whatever.

The story already has the foundations of generic, cliche trope-y garbage imo. The chapters are also so short it’s almost not even funny. The only way I could see anyone sitting down to read this and/or awaiting updates is bc the “I’m the real saintess” revenge stories are their current obsession and they’ve got absolutely nothing else to read. The translation so far is just fine.

Rant:

Spoiler

Her backstory is also s*upidly, completely, and utterly cliche. Abused and tortured bc she’s got a “humble” background (which doesn’t make sense bc she’s introduced as a daughter of a duke from the north so unless she was adopted and I missed that detail then???) and has red eyes with black hair which is the penultimate “ominous” appearance combo the author uses when they want to needlessly abuse the FL to give her a sad backstory and cause for her revenge.

In these 10 chapters we also get a glimpse at her family and they’re cartoonishly evil, quick to have her tortured and for why??? Who knows. Probably some other unnecessary past issue. Who wants to bet it’s bc she “caused” her mother’s death simply by being born?

Like the description explains, she gets accused of trying to assassinate the other saintess candidate but I have almost no doubt that it will be a ridiculous plot line bc remiel is everyone’s beloved and most precious person and Irene is treated like absolute gutter tr*sh so how tf would she ever get the time/privacy/resources to attempt such a thing?? Anyway, no one bothers to investigate. They just throw her into the “tower of death” and let her get abused and tortured some more even tho she’s supposed to be a saintess candidate. Everyone is so sure it’s remiel so they don’t even think twice about practically killing Irene.

Cold, aloof, mysterious Duke—I mean king of the north convinces her to live by telling her she can get revenge and he’ll help her. Blah. Blah. Blah. Maybe I’ll check back in, in another 40 or so chapters, to see if any of my predictions are correct but I also doubt it bc this story already annoys me

Spoiler

also, as a side note bc I’m sure someone will call me sensitive, but the only king with an ”exotic” name Shah Naz (iirc) is portrayed as the hot headed, dumb brute who just blindly loves Remiel. To the point of openly and nearly shamelessly blaspheming the very Goddess they claim to worship and respect. Not at all looking forward to how that will develop, or the subsequent manhwa where they make him the only tan skinned character and gives him insensitive, borderline racist illustration/character design details to imply he’s SEA.
