A painfully conspicuous master adventurer, Dale.

Due to a certain request, he set foot in a deep forest and by chance, encountered a severely underweight and thin young girl of magic lineage. Unable to leave the girl, Latina, who carried the branding of a criminal, Dale reluctantly decided to become her protector. However―

“Because Latina is too cute, I don’t want to go to work.”

―Before he realized it, he had completely gained a parent complex!?

an OP adventurer (Dale) meets a deserted demon little girl (Latina) in the forest. The plot is kind of interesting, slice of life and the development isn't that slow. There are some quite sad events and fluffy times so you might not help but smile at the cuteness of Latina and the dork action of Dale being the parent of Latina. The changes of the personality of the two leads, Dale and Latina, are well written by the changes of the times in novel. Recommended if you are looking for... more>> novels that heal your heart after reading novels with wars and fights. <<less

This story is very good and heart-warming slice of life. Just a little warning though... this story is so sweet that many readers suffered from diabetes and liver failures. Prepare insuline shot!

It has also been reported that so much cuteness may leave you with a huge smile on your face for the whole day, giving you cheek cramps

All the reviews here have pretty much pointed all the main features and the good points in the novel, so I'll be the devil's advocate and point out what is NOT good about the story.

1. Character development: None of the characters really show any character development. Dale, the main male character for instance is said to have been a character who was once cold hearted and sullen. But he changes really quickly, so quickly that it's unnatural, unless of course you can believe that 'cuteness is justice' or something. Even... more>> the author feels the same, when he admits in one of his notes that Dale became 'dere' a little to quickly.

The demon girl who gets adopted does develop, from a girl who jsquiet, unconfident and adorable to someone who is eager, intelligent and adorable. She's adorable, right from the beginning to the end. So adorable, that she isn't particularly realistic. Lots of novels don't have realistic characters, but I usually like slice of life with some realistic characters. As for the other secondary characters, dont bother looking for development. All of them (barring a mob character who hates non human races in general and isn't even named) completely fall for the kid's adorabilty attack.

Plot: This isn't really a flaw, more like something thats normal for these sort of novels. There isn't any grand goal or purpose the story. One question that remains in the novel uptil now is the identity of Latina (the demon girl) and why was she abandoned. Hints are dropped about here and there, but it isn't particularly important to the story. I only recollect one crisis that took place in the novel, and it got resolved pretty quickly. So if you are looking for a story with action and drama, a story that makes you scream, " I want more!!", then this isn't really the right novel.

Inspite of this, I enjoy this novel a lot. While I wouldn't enjoy only reading this novel and no other, the novel provides a nice change of pace and is soothing. <<less

Cute at the first and gets boring halfway. I have to stop reading because they are going to the disgusting father / daughter romance route.

Because the title says 'for my daughter' I jumped in expecting cute parent-child moments.

And for the first few chapters I was not disappointed. Latina is super cute, she is my favourite character. Dale is an OK MC, kind of dorky gary stu-ish but I don't read web novels expecting stellar character writing. Speaking of character writing, don't expect Latina to be a realistic written child. I've taken care of my younger siblings and baby cousins and I can assure you, real life children are more argh and less aww.... more>>

Character development is nonexistent, with the exception of Latina. The background characters... well, they exist at least.

World building is the standard microwavable type for fantasy webnovels. It's okay because I was hoping for a light, easy to digest reading material.

Since I got interested in this new wholesome series I started to look up a bit about it and was pleased to see news of an anime will be released soon and it even has a manga with nice art. Then immediately, I started seeing spoiler comments and it was ruined for me because I have no self-control and read them, but I'm thankful I did.

Spoiler

... Apparently they end up together. Romantically. I just can't. Latina is super cute but she's his daughter, not blood related but even the title even says so! Knowing how it will progress, I can't go on. If you have no problems with waifu rearing then this could be a new favourite for you if you are looking for a sweet story. "How I met your mother? I adopted her and raised her." or maybe not since she's not human? tldr I feel like I got clickbaited.

Still, I'm giving it stars because It's how much I enjoyed of what I read so far. I don't want to give it a low rating because that might be unfair and it really is a nice and sweet story. <<less

To the 6 vote who rate 1 star, they seriously don't have humanity. Such warm and cute story, the plot is not bad quite good slice of life, there's some chapter about dark part yet heartwarming.

Just a teenager 18 y/o who used to be cold blooded soldier become a doting parent when adopt a Demi human demon child which found in the forest. Can't blame him but he is not a lo*icon just a helpless doting father~

Starts out as an interesting variant of the OP MC but around chapter 100 it starts to devolve. The author must not have had an idea of how he was going to fill in the details from point A to point B, as it turns into a retcon to fix the age gap to apparently justify, "How can I make it acceptable for these two characters to have sex?" If we take the author at his initial word, the MC has been a "hero" for a number of years to... more>> start out, which would have put him at 15 according to the village rules of being an adult. However, the author expects us around chapter 105 to believe that he met his not-daughter only two and a half years into being a well known adventurer with what sounds like almost a decade of outside-the-village experience. <<less

It was cute when Latina was young, but as she grew the story started becoming boring and then turned into Usagi Drop.

In my opinion, Uchi no Musume is one of the best slice-of-life novels. Definitely above par, despite some initial weaknesses on Author's narrative in the beginning chapters. It's fluffy, it's developing slowly, but characters are visibly growing, and the underlying tensions which construct its main plot are also going forward at the right pace. At least, that's how it is till chapter 70.

The story started when a young man with unusual background found a little girl of different race in the middle of a dangerous forest. In the subsequent development,... more>> the young man adopted the little girl and treated her as an (extremely) doting single parent. There were (overly) sweet moments, heartwarming bonds, and some rather painful realizations.

I've got a strong vibe of Usagi Drop (the manga) here. And I can't help but waiting for every revelations that will be brought by every arc, what twists that might come about, and whether it will end in the same style that Usagi Drop did. <<less

(Spoiler) I have to say that the logical premise of the novel, from which the name is derived, ends up being total nonsense. You tell me, would an even slightly sane person decide to marry someone, make them immortal, and become a demon lord to be together with them always, all the while knowing that if they choose to become a demon lord they will have to essential abandon the person and then commit su*cide, possibly even cuckold the guy for an old flame. What kind of irrational sad*st of a character would do that? The answer is apparently Latina the person we are told is perfectly kind except for the fact that she lies, deceives, and then ultimately betrays her companion without the slightest fight. We, as readers (apparently with misogynist savior complexes) are supposed to find the whole idea of a guy fighting his ass off for a girl who can't even seem to bother romantic.

I'm usually a bit more pickier about my novels, but this had a pretty high rating so I decided to give it a go. Some of you may be sick of seeing the recycled "diabetes" comments. Don't worry, I'm not going to even start with that. I've decided to write a review this early in because a few details has been pricking the back of my mind.

Novel Pros

    • Each chapter is short. It's a lot easier to keep track of when reading on a mobile device.
    • The vocabulary and naming sense is simple and familiar (except the gods in the lore). Doesn't come off as pretentious. Fantasy settings tend to get hung up on sounding complex.
    • The writing style is enjoyable and flows well. There's a good balance of dialogue and scene description.
Novel Cons

    • The main characters are pretty much Mary Sues. You find out later that Dale is really high spec and has friends in high places. The dude apparently makes a lot of dough despite his humble home: an attic in a restaurant. Latina, his adopted daughter, checks off a lot of the boxes even early in. She's constantly described as being attractive and likeable, which gets annoying. I can only imagine the checklist growing.
    • The story gets monotonous. Sure, the plot progresses, but the bulk of the story revolves around the two's borderline obsession with each other. It doesn't feel fresh when they genuinely have new experiences because they act or react in the same manner.
    • The story doesn't really set up a buildup or backdrop to anything, only introducing information when it's immediately relevant. Rather than withholding details for a surprise, it feels as if the author is coming up with details on the fly.
Conclusion:

The novel is enjoyable for light, casual reading when you want to just pass the time. Otherwise, there's not much sustenance and complexity to the characters or plot.

There is something called too much slice of life or "fuwah" "fuwah" elements (for me at least) that the setting seems to adjust by the characters standard, resulting to extreme inconsistency that you might not notice, specially when you're on a Japanese novel reading streak.

Example:

Spoiler

The town is toooo peaceful, even for a slice of life standard, a girl getting lost in the streets on a medieval settings with nobels/adventures/swords setting you might expect something to happen to her, but no, she just meet a couple of kids and go home, the most infuriating are the adults, the author want to emphasize how mature the kid is for her age that they forgot how childish the adults are, they seem to dump every single responsibility to kid every time they wrong her and that's just the beginning.

If you are looking for a cute, fantasy story to life your spirits, look no further! Cute, adorable, character development, backstory, plot, some sadness, cute, and more cuteness.

So it's still interesting (as in cute), so try it out if you haven't already.

Apparently, they end up together? Honestly so disgusted I had to come in and post a review to express my utter disdain for the author's decision. It's one thing to have a massive age difference (what must be at least 25 years based on how the author presents the characters' histories/experiences), it's another to spend 80% of the novel showing off the MC's 'fatherly affection' only to have that somehow turn into them f***ing later on. Really adds a layer of suspicion to all of his loving looks, hugs, cuddling... more>> together, etc. Genuinely makes me wish I never bothered reading this novel in the first place so I'm posting this purely to warn potential readers!

If you're horrified connecting the novel's summary and cover page with the later daughter --> wife scenario, hit that home button and find something else. Lots of other novels with cute kids and no conflict on this site you can read. I recommend Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear, or Isekai Yururi Kikou if you want a male MC.

If you can accept this outcome and without it coloring the loving father-daughter moments, then it's... honestly still just meh at best. All characters except Latina are 1-D and have virtually NO emotional development. Even the MC goes from your standard ridiculously strong but somehow completely obtuse man to... all that but with a sudden influx of paternal love upon laying eyes on the toddler Latina. Though, taking the ending of the novel into account, gotta wonder if it was fatherly love he felt or something else...

And, if knowing the end of the story makes you excited/gets your rocks off, then I'd recommend you just go find an in*est novel to read. There are plenty out there and they'll spend more time on it than this novel, that's got too much in*est for people not wanting to read it, yet nowhere near enough for the people who do. <<less

Decent novel. Like many light novels, one of the main characters is OP. However, what sets this story apart is that him and his strength are not the focus. Rather, the little girl he picks up is. The author skips the pitfall of endlessly writing about how powerful and great the male lead is and focuses the story on the girl and how she adapts to a new environment, new people, and discrimination.

This is not a wish fulfillment story. Rather, it's a heartwarming and sweet coming of age tale that... more>> I would recommend. <<less

This story promotes g*ooming. You know I don't realy care about age gaps, as long as they met when they're both adults and capable. But this is just too much. F*cking sicko who wrote this garbage needs to be on a watchlist. Disgusting. Stories like this is what makes me reluctant about telling other people I like anime/manga/LN, don't wanna be associated with incels who likes this kind of stuff. On one we have good stories on the other end we have this... Its Usagi Drop all over again. Wish... more>> I could give it a 0 stars. <<less

Great novel.

Gotta love the early moments of the novel, and the build-up while seeing Latina grow. The cuteness that is described.

Getting to know what happens to her before meeting with Dale... Really touch you.

The ending was great. It just makes me smile after all that happens.

I 100% recommend this novel if you can get by after reading V4 as some people may not like the change in the dynamic of the main characters.

But is still a heartwarming novel to read.
