Being real, I dropped and hated it. I was hopeful that she wouldn't start falling back in love with his abusive ass, but she still did. She was so happy as a normal person, away from politics and being used as a tool by her parents and the emperor, or as a bird in a cage for the ML.

Man constantly berated her for months, sexually assaults her and she was aggressively fighting and pushing him away. And when he didnt get her attention the way he wanted, he kept her locked up in a room for months, while watching her fade from nonstop mental stress and abuse. Cause hed rather have her dead so he can look at her, rather than her happy

Basically I hate him, the angst wasn't rewarding, and the book SHOULD have ended with her being happy at her church with the children. Don't recommend at all. Idk why I kept reading it after she was taken back to him for as long as I did. <<less

in the beginning, he is am absolute ass, I will give him that. He is possessive and doesn't care at all about fl. That is until FL runs away and he thinks she might be dead. His character development after she is gone, is great. He realized how poorly he treated her. He finds her later on working at a church/orphanage, realizes how happy she is and supported her behind the scene by donating lots of money. The only reason he did "take her away" was when he realized the town was attacked by demons. He was finally kind and loving to her when they were at his estate. He helped save the children and the nanny and gave them a place to stay. Let FL think that he "kidnapped" her, but showed her kindness while she recovered. He never once told her he was sorry or how he loves her, and lets her come up with a bunch of s*upid thoughts

she, rightfully so, runs away from ML after he treated her so coldly and locked her up. But after the whole thing on when he saved her, she was dumb as shit. She kept thinking "oh how could he take me away!" "he doesn't want me anymore" "he wants to trap me as grand duchess again!" "he doesn't want me as grand duchess" she keeps running away at every chance possible and it gets so old so quick

i really am not too fond of this book. Both MCs are dumb and can't take context clues with each other. It was enjoyable, and painful, in the beginning, but the sheer thought process of the two, I couldn't take it anymore <<less

Im still on my way on reading this novel and im still holding up cause I think ML's loves for MC is questionable here. I dont understand why he suddenly loves her? Is it because she's pitiful? So this man loves a woman because she's pitiful?! It was absurd to me. I think this part is not written well. Since I had read another tragedy novel with this kind of plot, I find this novel lack in showing the reasons why ML interested on FL. When I started reading this book, I thought from the synopsis that clearly ML was an idiot, and this has been confirmed. But unlike other stories with the same premise, ML managed to redeem my "forgiveness", because he really regretted it and tried to redeem himself even though it went wrong, in the end he did everything right by letting FL go, and so she came back of their own free will.

The phrase that most impressed me in this book was when ML thought: "His feelings were not mere possessiveness.... more>> Ironically, he was so engulfed in emotions that he considered the least of his life. Love. He didn't want to own Julia, he wanted to love her." This showed that, unlike other MLs, he realized that she was not an object to possess, but someone to love!

I hope I convinced you to give our ML and this book a chance! The reading experience was wonderful, I felt all the feelings that a reading can provide, and I couldn't be more satisfied with this book. <<less

I decided to trust my gut feeling and went ahead despite reading all the negative reviews about this series and I personally think it's well-written!!

Sure it may get frustrating because of the FL's behaviour but I think precisely because of that, that the novel is much more satisfying! Both ML and FL have their reasons and ML's attitude towards her in the beginning really made me want to pull my hair out but his redemption...... chef's kiss <3

I won't say that it's so bad that it's worth dropping it but... more>> it's pretty satisfying to read with all the rollercoaster emotions running through my brain, so I'm all good kekeke <<less

I read everything but the side stories.
The story seemed interesting at first but it was very flat.
There were no cutesy, lovey dovey or remotely romantic moments between the couple.
It was a story of an awkward clumsy girl who kept bumping into things or getting into “ oh look how fragile” she is type situations. At times the ML kept her from falling, maybe that was supposed to be romantic.

I think there was an attempt at one of those generic “when they were kids they met and liked each other” back story. But like everything else, it was bland too. They met at an event when she was hiding in a closet crying. And she promised to tell him her name the next time they met. And that was it. Like really, meeting a kid once is reason enough to be in love with some d*ck of a husband.

I’m only giving it two stars instead of one because the background plot was interesting enough and the world itself seemed well thought out.

The whole bit about a week heart and the cure being the need to drink holy water was so lame. Just another way to be a omg poor girl, look how she suffers. But it reminded me of Hyatt from Excel Saga, that it was comedic. Replacing plot or substance with omg FL is coughing blood or fainting again.

If your bored and have nothing to read, give this a shot. The story is heart wrenching and is likely to make u shed some tears and make ur heart throb. The story overall is quite boring tho. Although I haven't finished it, the plot is slow and gets reused overtime.

The female lead grows to hate the ML because of his HORRIBLE treatment towards her and she try's escaping. On the other hand, the ML is a ignorant piece of ass that turns into a loving yandare overtime through character... more>> development. Both are bad at communicating about their feelings so enjoy the torture!🥲 <<less

Honestly, I have no words to express how much I love this novel. Yes, the plot is kind of typical like the FL runs away from the ML after suffering a lot but the characters are so thoughtfully created and the emotions are so raw. I love this novel especially because unlike those crazy obsessed regretful MLs in stories like this who think the way to ask forgiveness is by locking up the FL or constantly meeting them to apologize and not giving them a moment of peace, this novel's... more>> ML actually has a brain though he made use of it too late. An example of proving that statement

could be the scene where he finally finds her after searching for her like a madman but decides not to approach her because he saw how much at peace she was at that moment and he didn't want to take that away from her. Even if that meant staying away from her when he realised his feelings for her. Now this. This shows that he truly started caring for her. Heck, he even donated a large sum of money anonymously to the monastery, though that's the least he could do to make up for his mistakes but still.

And omg Cedric is such a sweetheart. I absolutely love him. He's been with our FL through thick and thin & I appreciate him so much for that. Anyways, I rly rly hope she gets a happy ending because she deserves it so so much. Pls give this novel a shot if u like angsty stories with a lot of emotional pain and heart wrenching romance. Truly this is one of the best novels I've ever read. Also thank you so much to the author and also the translators for being so consistent with the updates. I so so appreciate the hard work and effort you guys put in. Please don't drop this cus I'm already so attached to it. Anyways I highly recommend this!! <<less

This is a story about mismatched timing, ruining good things, and being so bad at feelings, you make the object of your affection suicidally depressed.

The ML has a definite chip on his should and is a salty, suspicious AH about everything and everyone. To a slightly exhausting degree. This lead him to treating his completely-besotted-with-him wife terribly for a very long time, as he was being a suspicious moron who suspects she has evil intentions, and is meant as a method of controlling him by her father and the Emperor... more>> (who actually seems pretty chill, so I'm not getting where the animosity and paranoia are coming from). His abuse before his switch flips and he starts loving her mainly takes the form of cutting, b*tchy retorts, and neglect.

He's also got a bit of fetish for dependency, control, and guilelessness. So, by the time he pulls his head out of his ass to realize, OMG, my wife is my perfect, ideal, type, and I was so mistaken about her! it is unfortunately too late, and she has gotten sick of loving him and just wants to move on. He reacts... poorly, to say the least.

He literally locks her up for suggesting they get a divorce. She is literally kept in her room. And he puts an entire surveillance team on her. Having her completely dependent on him is apparently catnip to him.

While that doesn't sound the most appealing, it is drama-packed, smacks you in the feels, and will keep you engaged in the roller coaster ride.

If you like really obsessive and possessive guys, but in stories that go far, but not too far, this one is for you. <<less

Four stars for the translation.

The story itself is predictable. I admired the FL up until about 70% percent of the book when she just became irritatingly dumb.

ML definitely had a solid character development. Willing to atone and admit he was wrong (albeit a little reluctantly in the beginning.)

ML progressed while the FL regressed which was disappointing.

Oh how I hated almost all of the characters in this story, but I have to say, something kept me from giving up on the story.

Julia is one tragic character in pursuit of happiness and her story was painful to read at times.

Fernan is selfish, manipulative, obsessive and cruel at times, but his redemption arc was well executed so in the end, this was a good novel.

I give 5 stars because of these, so if you have similar taste like me, you'd love this.

1. This story is full time romance, there is not much politics. No sub-couple, just main couple. 98% of what you read is about FL and ML.

... more>> 2. I love angst, a serious tear jerking romance, and this novel is exactly that.

3. ML and FL are forgivable for me, in the middle of reading I thought it was almost impossible to redeem ML but turns out the author made it possible.

4. The translation is completed and the translation is great, easily comprehend. Kudos to Rainofsnow team ❤️ <<less

Too many amnesia, I can't stand it! It's okay if you do it once, but not had it so often! And the story it's too dragging. Oh oh and don't get me started with Priest Cedric! I think he has no character development at all. I get confuse on why a priest like him is trapped in his own feeling. I thought his character would be wiser even though he likes FL, but nope!

I just found out this novel. It was sad and frustrating and my heart felt so heavy and stuffy from the pain throughout the chapters but I endured and finished it with a reddy eyes and runny nose haha. I could feel the pain of both main characters that my heart throbbed every chapter. The author didn't highlight the ML's history but I think, as a fan of novels for so long, I could understand how he became like that. I don't know why others would give flat low rating... more>> when they stopped reading in the middle. But I'm so happy that I finished it to the end because I don't think my heart would stay still without seeing the ending and it was worth it. Haha, and oh, there are side stories too and it has started being translated! Thank you to translator-nim and the sponsors for picking up this novel.

To all readers, if you want to cry, be happy in the end, then this novel is for you. Haha. <<less

Started off quite good. Especially love how the author choose to write the prologue. It gives you a general understanding of what to expect, and it captures your interest to keep on reading. A nice read if you're in an angsty mood.

However, in the later half of the novel, the storyline kinda fall flat. There's just too much misunderstandings for my taste. It just moved from 1 misunderstanding to another misunderstanding. The story is great, how it was written is great. It's just that there's not much fluff and 98% of this is frustrating. The situations are frustrating, the characters are frustrating, everything is frustrating. So if you want to rage and cry then read this novel. If you want fluff, turn your back, this is not for you.

I quite liked how Julia's character developed. From someone who only follow whatever people tells her to the person that risked her life truly be free. She did not do it just to go against her husband but because she wanted to be free from the people who made her suffer. I also appreciate how Fernan regretted what he did and made sure to correct his mistakes. The absolutely happy ending was definitely a bonus.

The story is the usual “MC leaves and the ML regrets so he tries to get her back” trope. What’s interesting is that the ML actually has significant character development. He actually redeems himself from the jack**s that he was. Unfortunately, this is where the MC starts to stagnate and I felt that her part was “sacrificed” to give way to the ML’s redemption.

The 2nd ML really wasn’t someone I’d root for. He honestly gave me serious Monsignor Claude Frollo vibes from the Hunchback of Notre Dame, simply because his... more>> occupation shouldn’t have had any other “vested interest” when he was with the MC. But anyway, I felt that the ending was a bit rushed to tie up some loose ends.

If you’re in the mood for some romance, angst, and action... this is a pretty easy read. <<less
