yep, I just wanted to see the MC suffer and of course the harem full of yandere. What else right?

I cant belive the MC flashback on previous volume is darker than the present plot, no wonder the new heroine is nowhere found in the future, rip one of the best heroine in this series

The setting of the world intrigued me. I like this kind of story lately. Isekai mob with no cheats but knowledge of the world yada yada all that. Dark depressing world setting like any other isekai. To me any isekai with monsters whether it be fantasy or any other genre it is a depressing world actually. It is more depend on whose view. If the MC is bottom of the tier, we can see the depressing world view but if the MC is someone strong and up there then it... more>> might be some generic isekai.

My first thought of the MC is he is not human enough. He does not feel like a human. There is no relatability between me as a reader and the MC. Not like a life long servant relatability like that but as a person. He is toyed with people around him but there is no anger. He is not mad at the game itself. He just like this is depressing game world blah blah unnecessary information not contribute to the progression of the story and then he be like I just trying to survive. Then go kill the bad guy. Don't just be like I still have morals. I don't know why but when reading the MC dialogue I can't imagine the emotion he is having. Especially the monologue is not a monologue most of the time but more like info dump.

The info dump not contributing to the story progression itself. Half of the most chapters is describing unnecessary things. If you want to tell a character background, tell them just that. No need for the reasons why her background is like that. The story itself is becoming monotonous. MC get into some big event beyond his abilities, he fought with tricks and yada yada, he got very serious injuries that could kill him, he won but then he lose then FML come to the rescue and one shot everything, MC fainted, woke up and talking and volume ends all the while most of the female leads know what is happening to him and the reasons because they want him to be worthy of them yada yada.I actually don't like how the author remind the reader that the MC isekaid into depressing dark game many many times.

The fighting scene is not that bad because I can imagine and see how most of the fighting scene with move to move description of the fight. The description of characters is sufficient enough. But there is something I thought lacking in the fight itself. This is a story of youkai and exorcist but where is the talisman technique in the fight? I don't know if this is because I'm still early into the story but I hope it will appear further into it. Well 3 stars from.

    1. In the terms of comparison with other novels in this site this is truly something above them. The novel has a dedicated plot, a MC who is actually weak and doesn't have any cheats and has to work through his teeth to get stronger. Although the main character has memories of his previous life, they are mostly useless in almost all the situations except to give exposition which doesn't seem forced at all. The harem is sometimes annoying but isn't useless at all. All in all It's a pretty solid one.
    1. The writing is done perfectly down to the last bit. The author knows how to make situations tense, dramatic and climatic. Each chapter during the major event leaves you asking for more.i wish some light was shed upon... more>> more on the male characters in this work. I know this a harem and all but barely anything is given about the males.
    1. This novel isn't perfect by any means. There are problems present. The author likes to use the trope damsel in distress a lot. I think about 3 heroines fell in love with him because he saved them at the utmost last moment of despair. Gets a little bit repetitive, but it's still fine till now.
    1. The author has tried to portray MC as pure hearted individual, who will even in the face of death would still hesitate to kill a human being whether they are good or bad. Nothing wrong with that. The problem is that the author hasn't given the audience much to work out with the MCs character at the start of the work. Sure we still get a lot more clues in the future and then it confirms the MCs character, but it still feels inconsistent. I think the main reason is that the MC has actually reincarnated into the new world. Which means he was fully fledged adult or atleast someone in their 20s in the previous life. And I just personally find myself unable to believe that someone like him could exist or let alone act like him. Also there are barely any moments alone with him to light shade upon the MCs personality.
    1. The novel is readable. Not grammatically accurate all the times but much more better then your average mtl. I would advice you to read it. And bear through the Kappa war arc in the 40s or 50s. That part of the novel is pretty boring that's what I'm gonna say. But it still has one of the coolest moments present in it. So try to bear through it . I promise you you're not going to regrets reading it.

This is "Japanese-style Fantasy Depressive Erotic Game" story about MC who probably lost in reincarnation gacha and starts on insane difficulty.

He is the best husbando for all crazy womans. They are disgusting and their deep dark fantasy are scary.

Story is interesting because of world building. It also slowly show deepness of the other characters.

It starts with hate for MC; then it show that he's greedy and can't say no to mother; then we learn why he hate mc; then we learn his dark past and possible dark future; and now we question: "is he really hate mc?"

Main irony of the story is that MC know why in original story all crazy womans likes the protagonist of a game, behave similarly and brainwash self to not understand reason why every FMCs is attached to him. <<less

Review while reading the MTL: Surprisingly one of the better "That one time I tried to bang my sister but then she told me I was actually adopted and she had secret feelings for me the entire time but then we got transported into a RPG action game?! Okay! I guess we'll conquer the world" title novels.

It has cliches but cliches aren't bad since it really depends on how you use them. This one uses it kinda averagely, it's your typical otome game isekai novel, but what really carry's this... more>> novel is the setting. It's dark and gritty, you can feel how weak the MC is and how far the power gap is between him and the weakest yokai.

however while I do praise the world, the story drags on a bit later on because it becomes conflict after conflict, battle after battle with brief intermissions. That's not bad because it keeps in tone with the dark gritty setting, but the MC doesn't really grow and should not be able to survive the encounters he gets into. Hmm, I should say it is repetitive. The story is basically him getting his ass beat over and over and then getting saved by the heroines or pulling a bullsh*t comeback despite him literally having his entire body cut in half. I'm exaggerating on the body cut in half, but really, the MC should not be able to survive the encounters he gets in because the author doesn't write enough power growth to justify it.

Well, I mean there is one thing that kinda powers him up, but I'm not sure if I can call it a level up because it's not explained due to it just becoming prominent in recent chapters and he still gets his ass beat despite using it.

Overall, considering the quality of Japanese novels now, this is like a shiny button inside of dogshit. It's better than most Japanese novels, but it's worser than it's Korean/Chinese counterparts. <<less

Pretty alright for what it is. A lot of world building, almost too much. Author has a tendency to ramble a bit so pretty much everything takes a bit longer than expected. Still, an enjoyable way to pass the time. Also, major plus that the protagonist isn't thinking with his lower half.

It's interesting isekai novel with setting of old Japanese era (Edo period, I suppose?). I like the detailed descriptions and expalanations from author, albeit they tend to be too much detailed sometimes. The story is about strugglings of our poor protagonist who attracts only screwy and crazy-ass women and, tbh, it's annoying how those women treat him like a toy or pet, the selfishness of those thots is just too much.. Though, it's not surprising, given his character since he acts like a righteous hero and can't turn blind eye... more>> when someone is about to be r*ped and gangbanged. Needless to saym the dialogues between MC and female characters are amusing and followed by comedic undertone. I still hope that MC will change into more anti-hero type and be a little selfish and "free" from stalkerish b*tches around him in the near chaps, but I guess that wouldn't be a case.. <<less

Ok, first and foremost this novel is kinda ok but personally, I dislike it. One of the factor is the MC. I have already read the MC tragic background on how he was being picked up and grow to the kind person he is right now. Yet, I am not able to comprehend of the Info dump such as (the story based or world settings) which was too much to digest that I skipped the narration of the story until the POV of MC appears. Moreover, I just say that... more>> the MC was too much restricted due to being a servant that serves the damiyo family (could be wrong but let just say it is akin to the usual royal family template). He literally play the role as a mob guard without cheat in where he live in a very limited freedom and it is very suffocating to read till now. The Heroines was set to be yanderes or even worse an abomination wearing human skin (based from the novel synopsis).

The novels main attraction for me is the gritty atmosphere you're constantly put in while reading. I also am quite enjoying the new system of power seperate from cultivation or magic (even if it is lighly explained). Biggest complaint I have is translation quality. Im not sure if its edited mtl or done by an actual translator but its pretty bad in some spots of can result in some confusion throughout the story. Genders are messed up constantly, wrong names will be used, honestly at some points entire plot points... more>> will be misinterpreted because the translation is not clear. Ie/ thinking that a situation has occurred in reality when it was meant to be explained as it is something that happened in the game. Many abstract ideas I believe are also lost in translation such as explanations on exorsist techniques and concepts. In the end as you read further in the novel you can work out basically what is trying to be said, but would be nice if you could understand it right away so the novel flows properly. <<less
