I, Maehara Maki, someone who couldn’t make any acquaintances or friends in high school, finally had someone to hang out with outside of school. A girl.

Her name was Asanagi-san. The boys in my class called her ‘The class’ second cutest girl’ behind her back.

On Fridays, she would refuse her best friend, Amami, ‘the cutest girl in class’ invitation just to hang out in my house with me.

Together, we played games, watched some movies, read some manga while eating junk foods like pizza and hamburgers, and chugging cola without a care in the world. To others, we may seem sloppy, but it was a precious, secret time together for Asanagi-san and myself.

this is the best, most credible romance I have ever read - without le*d handholding, without s*upid blushes, misunderstandings, unnecessary and forced drama.

The relationships of the two characters develop rhythmically at a good pace, they do not have situations typical for Japanese romances, I love her but I am not worthy of her and she probably hates me - or the most annoying thing in Angel Next Door, crying to heaven for vengeance and NTR - FL she blushes, it's a sign that you need to take the relationship back... more>> two steps because the situation is uncomfortable for her.

Apart from the chapters around 150-200, where there is a hopeless sports arc about nothing, because there is not even a breakthrough solution or progress for the plot, the whole thing is really incredibly successful, the side characters are fantastically drawn, the dynamics in the group are pleasant.

Uh... I love it and I'm on my third reread. <<less

If I were to challenge you to read this novel without having an idiotic grin on your face, you would very likely fail. This is so sweet, so fluffy. You will get diabetes.

I will start with some negative points (still 5 stars to me regardless) :

    • The story starts off with the trope "cute girl somehow takes a liking to the loner protagonist". There is an explanation given to it, but it also is fairly forced. You have to accept it.
    • The 3rd story arc (roughly chapters 130 through 180) feels very out of place, almost filler, which disappointed a lot of readers. Fortunately it gets back on track afterwards.
And now for the positive points and why I love this novel so much:

    • The interaction between the two main characters is just too cute.
    • Beyond character development I would like to mention the relationship development. So many romcoms end up with a confession or a kiss as the finale. However they go the distance here (as you can probably guess by the tags), which is so nice and refreshing. Nothing is rushed, because 252 chapters (at the time of review) is a long read. I even felt a sense of nostalgia when approaching the end and thinking back how their relationship used to be at the start.
A must read if you like fluffy romcoms with touches of drama.

This is one of the best, the world is alive and you feel like living in the shoes of the MC. The happy story is touching, and the sad story hurt so much but at the same time it’s so good. It gives me an emotional response I haven’t felt since “My happy marriage”.

You just have to be patient, the drama is but spice for the overall sweetness of this romance soup.
Since everyone here is a virg*n and want more fluff between the main couple every other chapters. I have to say that excessive kinship and s*x will rot the relationship. Speaking from experience.

I always give web novels some wiggle room when providing my thoughts, hence the five stars.

When venturing into these types of stories a majority of the time you run into the typical clichés; brain dead MC, stagnant development, ect. I find it hard to find something that naturally puts a smile on my face without major frustration before hand. This story, although it has its flaws, feels natural and is filled with plenty of sugar.

The beginning certainly needs to be better but it felt that the author has a good... more>> take on a more natural fictional romantic story development than most.

If you're looking for something fun, slightly more realistic, cute interactions then I would give this a shot. Again its not perfect but a web novel will never be that. <<less

Before the most recent arc (last 30 or so chapters I think) I would have rated 5 stars. Unfortunately the most recent arc is awful and has soured any positive feelings I had.

I honest think it would have been better to wrap up the story there then the aimless padding of the story with throw away side characters we have now

This is really cute! The leads have actual chemistry. And now that they (spoiler, I guess) got together, the plot's been fleshing them both out as characters, as well as expanding on their relationships with other characters. Just very cute.

My only complaints are that it's kind of slow at times, and also the author (or translator? I don't know) uses waaaaay too many ellipses. You can finish a sentence once in a while.

It's pretty good for a romcom but it's pretty generic and shallow.

This is somewhat different though because the girl is the group tardwrangler. Sick of tardwrangling her best friend, sje began to hang out with the MC for some absolute dumbf*ck reason like "your completely generic introduction greeting inspired me so I'll hang out with you" and then started hanging out like they knew each other for a long time with no build-up whatsoever.

My only problem with this is that it tries way too hard to make the dialogue... more>> between the two as natural and it feels off somehow and that they f*cking play Apex with controllers.

Pretty decent I'd rate 3.7/5 as slightly above average. <<less

The initial few chapters make no sense but it gets really good a few chapters in. Steady development and enough fluff.

If I find something annoying, it's the fact that the author keeps most of the important "development" off-screen. Feels like the author is trying to run away from having to describe such developments.

MC is quite likable and gets some good character development. Luckily we didn't get another pe*verted teen or even worse, a neutron star MC (*cough* Ryou *cough*).

I think the main issue a lot of people have with this is that it's compared way too much to Otonari no Tenshi. The LN/WN for OnT set a really high standard for romance light/web novels as a whole

This is a great read with lots of fluff and nice moments between the characters. Some arcs sure are weaker than others and were unenjoyable but it's not worth dropping because of that. Give it a try first.

While the first two story arc were the strongest, third onwards becomes weaker to dwelve in flirting.

I really like how the ML and FML depend on each other, but it seems the author gives a little too little shine to others.

Ok... I think this is the best time to write a review. Right now, at chapter 62 the story is at it's best till now to the point where I almost want to drop it and get my happy end since people are saying it gets worse later on... So I'll be writing this review as if it only has 62 chapters and the rest is read at your own risk...

It was friking amazing. The MC and FMC and their interactions are one on the best I've seen in a... more>> LN/WN, the personality and back story of the two are in depth and feels real and the real reason that FMC befriended MC is revealed later so don't worry about that.

Now the issue is that blonde bi*ch, the cutest girl in the class, her personality, on the other hand is just too one dimensional and every scene she appears in somehow turns into your generic LN cringey moment. And it feels more painful cuz the rest of the story is actually really good.

The reason I didn't reduce any points for that is because I've accepted that this level of cringey-ness will always be in every LN so if I couldn't handle that much I'm better off not reading them.

Now I'm going to continue reading but I won't bother to edit this because it already is a great read regardless of how bad the rest is... <<less

Cute novel and a pretty engaging read. Starts to get a boring about 100 chapters in and the drama by then is very overwhelming.
