Before anything else, please don't care about the rating.I don't even know why it isn't high and is kinda average. Please don't mind it. They probable have the so called homophobic disease that's why some rated it badly

It ended too quickly but it was so good

It is so sweet and cute story about a master and a shadow guard (lover) then came to modern time ere later on.

Okay so what makes this novel very special than other novel is that, there is no heavy conflict, just a story about two... more>> men in love and like the story is very short and there aren't much information which I liked very much because I don't have to worry about those stuff and just enjoy the MC and ML interaction between each other and their daily life.

It's so short I wished the author wrote about ML and MC getting married. Author why... You should have ended the story after they got married I'm so sad now and feel empty inside.

The first arc was amazing and like you don't have to worry about anything and just enjoy their daily life then...

The second arc err I don't know but this one isn't as interesting as the first arc.

The first arc is just so amazing like, you can literally end the novel their, but will leave you the impression of a bad ending (I don't want to say what happened but I'm sure you know already)

Anyways please read the novel is amazing!! God it is just so good this is probably the sweetest story I've ever read.

Dont worry just relax and read it. <<less

Chapter 1-8 were really, really, really good. It's the ancient time arc of the story. The author gave us a beautful master-servant relationship with the codependecy and taboo aspects of it.

Then they go back to the modern era - I was super excited for that! And it was... decent at first, sweet even with the shadow guard deciding to help his master to overcome his sever social anxiety while exploring this new world.

Then the 'acting-in-a-drama-about-us' arc happened... it could have been amazing, it was just a bunch of fujoshi comments... more>> that resembled zero plot.

The ending is so rushed with a plot twist that is not very well explained nor foreshadowed at all ???

3 stars only because the main couple is very good, but the rest... is not very good. <<less

This is so fluffy, but also sad in some parts. I like An Jiu so much, he's so obedient and caring to his master—ah no, lover.

So sad that the story is so short. Sigh, time to find another good novel.

This is a good novel, very different from what I have been reading recently.

The story is calm and refreshing. Having such a subtle MC, the pace of the story is gentle and pretty slow. Although it did skipped scenes a lot, since it's supposed to be a short story, it's still enjoyable (Just a pity that it's a bit too short). I like how both the MC and ML treated each other so lovingly and respectfully. I had great expectations for the story as the summary is great and the idea interesting. However, I couldn't force myself to read the whole thing as it was getting more and more boring with every chapter.

The plot was all over the place, so much would happen in just one chapter (and those are short). Like one moment the MC is sitting and reading, then *boom* family dinner, then *boom* shadow guard leaves without any explanation or reason for half a month and a few sentences, then *boom* a coup,... more>> then *boom* they're in love, then *boom* someone gets stabbed. You get the idea. The lack of any wordbuilding or explanations would have been fine if at least the romance part had been good but it wasn't.

I found the MC extremely one-dimensional. His only personality trait was being afraid of being around people, his only hobbies very conveniently quqin playing and traditional medicine. Cried almost every chapter, was from 21st century and had no idea about basic stuff and so on. I felt like his only purpose in this story was to look as pitiful and possible and give the shadow guard someone to be in love with. It didn't even seem fluffy in the end, just awkward and forced. <<less

AWESOME!!

First few chapters will be little angst but later it's full of fluff.

I wonder why the author is so stingy, can't they just write some more chapters of them being together? I couldn't get enough of them.

Short and sweet. That -2 stars is because of personal preference. This is quite refreshing after a heavy, angst-y, or “needing braincells at work” novels. I've been camping at Exiled Rebels lately, just opening books I didn't read any reviews of. U should try it, not reading reviews before opening a book.✨It works magic✨

Nice story. If only things were explained. I pride myself on understanding how novels plotlines develop but I was so confused the majority of the time.. I even wondered if I skipped something. It's a nah for me.

I quite like the novel. The characters are cute and full of fluff. An Jiu is so caring and protective of Xia Qian’an. The story is quite short.

Would give 5 stars if it didn't end so abruptly.

Would recommend to read

It's a decent story with not much angst or tragedy.

Actually I read it a long time ago, but had completely forgot its plotline. Today I was just finding something short to read and I tumbled here.

It's a nice story, I liked the interactions of MC and ml. Their love story also left me feeling warm.

But it didn't made a log lasting mark in my memory, but still its a pretty nice, for a short quick read.

This is such a wonderfully sweet story. To have an MC with a social phobia meet a person with the right personality and willingness to help him gently heal and feel the closeness of love. I cried at so many places and was so happy for them. Except for a few chapters, not giving any spoilers, this is a very gentle tale. To normal people, nothing huge happens, but for someone struggling, really big things do happen. I also think it's wonderful how it shows the acceptance of the people... more>> around the MC and ML of their relationship because they care so much for the MC. Would that real people were all this empathetic and loving! I wouldn't mind one more chapter just to flesh out the happy ending more, but that's just personal. <<less

It's so fluffy!! The MC and ML are unique and their interaction also suitable with the personalities trait. The change of characters, especially AnJiu feels natural and not abrupt.

However, I personally mind the inattentiveness of detail, such as there are too little detail of Anjiu, or that when I suddenly read something along this line 'after 2 years of interaction...' and I thought "Wut?! 2 years already?" Lastly I do hope for better writen ending. Dear author, it's alright to make it longer as I, the reader, need more of... more>> this workmanship!! <<less

Sooo fluffy!

After reading a few adventure novels previously, this managed to perfectly refresh me!

The story is quite short and the ending was a bit abrupt, but I don't mind it, given that I really enjoyed the story overall.

I liked the main characters, Xia QianAn and An Jiu, they simply suit each other.

Very cute, I wish it were a bit longer (^-^)

Additionally, I wanted to point out the this group's amazing translation, ExR can never disappoint, neither with their novel choice, nor the translations! Keep it up! ｡^‿^｡

A short story with an angsty beginning and middle and with a fluffy, triumphant end.

The plot is minimal due to length but many things are implied and if you know how to read between the lines even a little bit the world of the story becomes rich and deep for your enjoyment. I didn't like how the author twisted the business world trope though. Should have stayed a one-off thing without having directors coming over with new invitations, felt unnecessary. The online comments were fine at first, I liked the... more>> anti-h*mophobia take a lot, but after a while I think they served more the function of wordcount padding rather than plot or worldbuilding.

The setting in the first half is the best element in my opinion. Settings and ambience are painted with a broad brush, yet they are very evocative, I enjoyed immersing myself in a slightly blurry world.

Finally, the characterisation started off really well, with all sorts of nuances that I really liked, but the MC got attached to ML for no reason and got wimpy very fast. He gave a very good impression at first: socially inept yet clever, reserved, and composed. I didn't like the co-dependency (which is a trope I usually enjoy) because of this positive first impression of MC's character that got ruined a bit later. ML's role development in the end felt totally unnecessary. I was like no, MC's family is powerful enough, there's no reason to have every single ML get more powerful than MC, it doesn't have to be like that.

In conclusion, I recommend this story for its soft, blurry, cozy atmosphere which matches nicely with a cloudy/rainy day or lazy evenings reads. <<less

The novel is pretty slow paced in my opinion, we see the story play out through Xia Qian'an's thoughts and interactions.

For me, I just couldn't click with it, maybe it was just because it was the beginning but it was hard for me to keep my attention on it and I felt like I was dragging my feet.

I did attempt to try and atleast reach chapter 10 before DNFing the series entirely but, when I'm not interested it's just hard for me to push through!

Nothing against the author or anything,... more>> the story is very short and the writing (atleast for me) gives off a very relaxing vibe, it's just not for me personally! <<less
