Song Li was a treacherous minister in his previous life, but he was born with good looks, so he became a very popular minister and dominated the emperor’s heart. At that time, people scolded him that “the gold and jade are on the outside, but the lint is on the inside.” He just smiled and said that our family is gold and jade on the outside.

Unexpectedly, once he died, he would go back twenty years ago and become the youngest son of the Prime Minister’s Mansion who died young. The Ye family is all clean-blooded, which makes it very difficult for him, a treacherous person.

A generation of traitor was reborn as a cutie and sold cute cookies every day to earn a living

The bad rating almost made me miss out on this goodie!

It's actually a really good read if you're looking for a soothing, smooth sailing kind of novel.

Of course there are plot happenings that will make you go "huh?"

But I think there's no novel that's too perfect so this novel is good the way it is ~

PRO:

    • It's so soothing to read (I've been very sad these past days so I really liked this novel)
    • Everybody dotes on MC but it's not too overbearing or over the top. It's reasonable how they dote on him - he's cute and he's good at coaxing people.
    • I like that there wasn't angst
      Spoiler

or maybe there is a little - in the prev life, Ye Henzhi criticized MC a lot but it seems he was secretly in love with MC. In this life, he became MC's biological brother so in the end, he didn't have a romantic partner

      [collapse]
    • I like how ML was powerful but he wasn't overbearing. The last part of this novel shows the villain and the thing is, if the villain was the main character of this novel, I believe a lot of readers will support him because as they say "a villain isn't born, only created". His circumstances made him a villain, very reasonable and I'm happy about how the ML dealt with him despite his hatred
    • There are a lot of side couples
CONS:

  • There were a lot of side characters so mid part of the novel, it takes me a few seconds to remember whos who
  • I feel bad for
    Spoiler

Ye Henzhi huhuhu. He's really fated to "love" the MC, whether that's through romantic or brotherly love. He loves the MC a lot and I'm sad that he's just a side character in the end. Like this dude also needs someone who can take care of him! I hope that outside the novel's ending, he does find somebody. Afterall, everybody has a person. His father has his mother, the MC has the ML, and etc. I hope the brother has a better ending toooo

It's surprising that this story is rated lower. Perhaps it's because it's still being translated.
The conflict is not too intense, it comes from the past and history. If the author had expanded the setting and conflict further, the story would have been much more impressive. But in the end, this is something for relaxation.
The story is about redemption, or to put it more vulgarly, the salted fish life in the second life of Song Li / Ye Chongjin. Normally I don't like stories about children. However, everything here is very interesting, although the interaction between MC and ML at such a young age made me feel hot. LOL. The family relationships are very warm. The character I find most remarkable is Gu Yexi, ML's cousin.
Spoiler

She will become a general and give up her love for Lu Lin. LOL. This is an inevitable outcome for the girls who sent their hearts to the boys whose sleeves were cut off.

The political plots are written sparingly but sensibly.
The author always writes appropriately vivid descriptions. This makes the work realistic. I always appreciate that. At the same time, the translator has taken advantage of this by keeping many words in Pinyin, which makes the content easier to read.
The feeling after reading this story makes me feel light and lingering. This is a good choice if you want to relax, not too complicated. The constant praise of the MC makes it sound cliché, but it's not too annoying.

It continued to be interesting. Honestly the writing isn't bad. Having multiple characters that were reborn made things extra interesting.

I really enjoyed how everyone basically just dotes on MC. He's smart and capable on pleasing others. MC's brother is a total bro-con. And how lucky for the ML that all the potential love interests from the past life were knocked out of the running in the 2nd life by being relatives with the MC lmao.
Spoiler

And if I'm understanding the mtl correctly, they're not all born from the same time period. As in they all died at different times and were reborn at different ages. MC at the very least is reborn from birth in another body. But the other characters are reborn into their own body. And one character is from the far future but has also lived through the life he's living once. So it would be time travel and rebirth experiences.

I think one of the biggest unexpected parts was that MC's brother killed the ML in the first life (this was the timeline they weren't siblings). Also, apparently he liked MC too??? All those "criticisms" were to try and protect MC by getting him out of ML's hands. What a turn!

Some of the extra characters weren't super relevant but their side story expansions made things interesting.

I thought the family (especially the MC's brother) would stick around to the end but I was surprised by the separation. It makes sense with their family values and whatnot but I thought MC existing would stop them.

[collapse]

The last 1/3 of the story was jam packed with court intrigue. We get the backstory on how things were played out in the previous life - the conspiracy! It built up with each reveal and then ended a bit anticlimactically.

So far I really enjoy it. It's a slice of life style as we follow MC. He's clearly doted upon by his family and the ML. Each snippet is interesting. It seems that with the rebirth, although the MC is smart, he's also a bit childish from all the love he receives and ends up acting like his age at times.

Love this story!

This is very well written. The ML is possessive to the MC but on a healthy level. The only downside is that only mx MC and ML had s closure ending. I feel like the side characters deserve an extra chapters for themselves at the end about how their lives are going,
Spoiler

specially his big bro on the 2nd life, he deserves all the happiness in the world.

But all in all, I recommend this story.
