'Genius' Face-Slapper in the City

This is not a novel, but a face-slapping fest. People from a sales manager to General manager of a company to Underground Boss to a Genius Doctor, all have something in common - they all pick fights with the MC over silly minor things and then get brutally face-slapped. People pick on MC for no reason with their 'martial arts' or 'money', and then get beaten by MC in both areas...

Simple fights over little trinkets lead to killing in... more>> broad day light!! - if it was ancient cultivation novel, one could still stomach this non-sensical behavior, but this is Modern Society!! MC goes around killing people, in presence of witnesses, but still no action is taken against him! Law? Is there something like that? Can we use it as a pickle?

MC is an OP Cultivator and a genius pill-refiner, so great that not only is he the greatest Martial Artist, Sword Master, but can also cure any disease from Cancer to HIV using his fancy true energy manipulation and elixir pills!! Oh, and not to forget silly females (with 'undulating' breasts) with even sillier reasons to fall for MC, despite knowing that he's married and has a kid!!

Initially, just wanted to read something where I don't need my brains, but this book actively kills the brain cells I am not even using! <<less

Totally agree with this review. To be fair though "Rebirth of the Immortal urban-cultivator, " is 100 times better than this. Thats how bad this novel is.

• • The usual way this novel progresses is, someone sees MC average-looking, dressed like a beggar and so they decide its gonna be fun to flame/swear/disdain him.

Then MC faceslaps them with his amazing cultivation, then repeat once every 10 chapters. Im not even joking. Once every 10 chapters someone disdains him for his poor clothing.

Meanwhile MC is kind of super rich, but he just doesnt bother to buy better clothes. He likes dressing like a beggar because how else is this author gonna progress his story?

• • Also the fact that this MC comes back to earth after being in another universe for 3000 years, and when he returns to earth he goes full racist makes me laugh.

I guess everyone in the cultivation world was chinese so when he returns to earth he distains anyone not chinese. Sometimes I wonder what education these novel writers have gone through in school or at home.

The correct title of the novel should be along the line of Evil Daddy In The City because that's the name of the raw. There is nothing "genius" about him because he's just a strong a cultivator who went back to earth.

This novel has decent translation and editing but there's some annoying translation errors you will find out about. The story is basically a wish-fulfillment of the author. Wronged cultivator becomes super powerful gets betrayed and goes back to Earth where barely anytime has past by. Takes care of some thugs and and eventually takes over a gang. Kicks ass and and all the powerful families of X province bow to him. No one knows what he looks like except his given title. Experts at X super duper list challenge him and he rises to the top of everyone. But there's still more super duper experts not on that list who he has to defeat. Same usual stuff.

What this novel does poorly is that it makes this imaginary China feel like they look down on every single poor person. Pretty much 99% of the people he meets looks down on him based on his clothing. Therefore, they have to treat him like crap since they disdain him. The MC will proceed to do something awe-inspiring and face-slap them, causing these people to groveling before him. The people inside the novel are also quite dumb because they all know about how strong a Master Ye from X county is, and there's description he is young and brings a child along with him. Yet somehow, those snobbish people still cannot draw any connection to the MC and think he's a different person with the same last name as Ye, who also just happens to bring a child around with him as well. I don't know if the author is just really bad at writing or he/she thinks us readers are dumb and would believe something like that.

The only thing new/decent about this novel is the young daughter of the MC. The interactions are kinda entertaining so I didn't give this novel a 2-star. The rest of this novel is rather dumb so I only recommend you read this if you have nothing else to read. <<less

Fun story for 300 or so chapters. After the family is reunited and his daughter shows up less and less, the story becomes boring and repetitive.

Basically, arrogant character shows up, treats him like garbage because of his looks, gets beaten. Higher up shows up for revenge.

Is 5 chapters too less to review a webnovel, you ask? In some cases, yes, but this is unfortunately not one of them. Genius Daddy in the City is a below-average run-of-the-mill modern cultivation novel with awkward dialogue, generic plot tropes and choppy pacing. Sure, there's a twist: the protagonist has a lolita daughter. A small level up from that one creepy lolita girlfriend protagonists in these novels seem to have, but not a big level up. I've already been introduced to the "poor family of the protagonist who another arrogant young master pisses off and gets face slapped, shocking everyone in the vicinity because our protagonist has a, you guessed it, Sage Body." Whoa, genius plot twist. I've already been introduced to our protagonist's genius plan to cure his daughter's illness (yes I'm not kidding here). The great plan? To concoct some Qi pill, apparently better than modern medicine. It's almost as if he was a genius. Wow, what an innovative plot point. Someone give our writer an award.

I know this isn't as much of a review as it is a rant, but guys, come on. You can definitely find better novels to read. And to the company translating, you too. There are plenty of better, more unique novels out there waiting to be translated. It's frankly so very disappointing. <<less

A pretty generic CN. I was hoping it would feature a lot of family elements (since 'daddy' is in the name), but the kid isn't really a major part of the story. If you like a novel where someone acts like a d*ck for two chapters and is then killed or socially ruined, there's a whole bunch of that in here.

I read because I try to delve and understand the intentions of the author. But sometimes, it really pains me to see uncreative, pride-driven, and repetitive actions of the MC.

Face-slapping is good - but it becomes stale with repetition, especially when the same concepts on how he slaps/slapped the people are the same altogether, whether he transcends up from the society, murim.

Story and plot-wise this novel is even outclassed by the one that I find it interesting (Godly Stay-at-home Dad)

I've read a lot of tr*sh novels where I need to turn my brain off but this one is different. You have to literally throw your brain away because this will destroy your brain even when turned off. If patrick and spongebob made a novel then it would probably be better than this abomination.
