“Escape, Space, Supernatural Abilities, Sweet Romance, Dual Protagonists: An Enjoyable Story”

Shen Yu’an, a woman from the modern times with special abilities, transmigrates into the body of a small farmer girl with the same name and surname during the Great Wei Dynasty.

She though she can finally enjoy a carefree life without any missions, but the next moment, she discovers that she has been transported into a book.

Not only does she find herself in the midst of political unrest, but soon there are also massive earthquakes and locust swarms happening. Shen Yu’an decides to take her family and flee, beginning a nomadic life where the sky is their roof and the earth is their bed. Fortunately, she has her space abilities, so she has access to resources she needed along the way.

On the way, she casually picked up a young gentleman who seemed too weak to take care of himself.

The main villain seems to be pitiful on the surface, but actually very cunning. Whenever he sees someone approaching Shen Yu’an with ulterior motives, he clutches his heart and pretends to be in pain, saying “An’an, my heart hurts, can you blow on it?” or “An’an, who is that despicable man? My eyes hurt from looking at him.”

This is not my favorite of the "escape the famine with a magical space/farm" novels, but it's a pretty good one. The translation is not bad, very readable. May contain light spoilers.

My biggest complaint is the gu tribe. In my opinion, it killed the momentum, broke the immersion, and also made the setting feel way less grounded in reality.

Second biggest complaint is the psychic powers. The space is fine, it's a staple of the genre. The super strength is acceptable, even if it leans a little bit Mary Sue. Even... more>> the martial arts proficiency can be excused by her briefly-described backstory. But the psychic powers are simultaneously over-powered and under-utilized. Sometimes she'll end a conflict in an instant with her brain zap, and other times she'll beat people in public even if it's disadvantageous.

The other complaint I have is that the magic space armory is almost never brought up or used. I assume it's being saved for the final showdown with the big bad guy? Even so, I think it should have been leveraged at least a few times. <<less

The background plot is a bit inexplicable at times. FL gets soul transmigrated into the ancient times of a novel. It's not explained too clearly, but her psychic powers and space powers that she had previously are still with her in this second life. Why she had those powers in modern times, I wasn't quite clear. Not only does she have space storage powers, but an unlimited food source like from a supermarket. It's a bit confusing. Not to mention, the original host seems to have unexplained super strength as... more>> well.

Overall, it's an interesting slice of life story that mostly involve the FL and her entire family escaping from famine and trying to find a new home. All the good people get happy endings and the bad ones don't.

In terms of politics and war scenes, it's pretty vague. The story focuses mostly on the FL and her caring family and the motley crew they end up quasi adopting into their large family. Everyone is loveable, and the FL is very direct and not too scheming. The romance is extremely slow and doesn't really resolve until towards the end of the story.

There are a couple of plot points that weren't quite resolved like the Gu Clan, the astrologists, and details on the villainous 4th prince's ending so I lowered the rating. But I did enjoy the story. <<less

For the most part it was okay, although there were times that I found it slightly boring.

The male lead doesn't make his appearance until like chapter 73 or 74. Also, for a good portion of the story later on he hardly makes an appearance that I found it strange that she had come to like him in that regard, seeing how there were several other suitors to whom she spent more time with than him.

There were several important characters who just sort of melted away from the story without any... more>> clarification or conclusion as to what happened to them. The author just stops including them in the story.

Spoiler

The ending was anticlimactic, I thought there would be some epic battle between them and the 4th prince, or that Hua Mei would make an appearance, or that they would help Hua Ling, but nope. The author just makes it so the ML becomes emperor and then quickly and vaguely glosses over everthing that happens from when she brings him supplies to the border all the way to the end of the story. Then they irresponsibly tossed their work unto their kid, which I mean literally he is a kid, they have their 5 year old son running the government.

It had potential but ended up being a kind of sorry excuse for a story. <<less

It started out interesting I was planning to leave higher stars to boost up the rating but towards the end it disappointed me so much. The last 20 or so chapters were just run down of what happened to end the story

So many unnecessary plot with no conclusion

Spoiler

*Many characters from the first time line fades away no follow up once the Shen villagers reached the Capital

*The Gu clan plot was unnecessary Hua twins went back to the clan Hua sister was attacked and in a coma Hua Mei escaped and that's it no follow up that was their last appearance 🤦‍♀️ and what's the point of FL leaning the Gu it was irrelevant to the story other then using it once on insignificant character it was not mentioned again 😔

* The Qi third miss fades away without any consequences with many other characters has no conclusion 🤦‍♀️

[collapse]

Really made me regret my times 😩 <<less

It had the potential of being a great novel. The slice of life and world building was great. Unfortunately it fell short. I believe this novel was meant to be much longer than it is currently and that’s why there are so many plot holes and unexplained things. I am going to assume the author meant to resolve them slowly but then author had to finish the novel in less chapters than it was planned with a rushed ending.

The characters are most likable. FL is in a very loving family... more>> and so is ML. Despite its flaws, the story is quite interesting and I found worth reading. <<less

This story starts strong, but the ending is incredibly rushed. So many plot threads are just dropped and characters that have been built up just disappear. I still think it's worth reading, just don't expect a satisfying ending.

Such a disappointment at the end. This novel had so much potential but failed at the end because of the latest fast paced chapters without detailed endings of important characters. There were so many chapters dedicated about unwanted characters and incidents but author failed to mention about one of the important gu tribes at the end. So many plot holes. I wanted to give 2 ⭐️ but since I enjoyed 3/4th part of the book, I am giving it 3 ⭐️.

I really like this novel, it's the kind that gets you stuck after reading it for a while. I like how the MC is starting out and how she still has room to grow, I feel like with a lot of MCs that are 'overpowered' they don't really grow much be Claude they have pretty much already peaked but you get to experience it with her in this a long with a lot of other things so I would definitely recommend

3.5 but rounded down as there are a lot of little things wrong with this novel. The synopsis is also not a very good explanation of the story as the ML doesn't act at all like that in the story. I also feel like I skipped parts of the story even though I didn't.

The MC is Shen Yu'an, a woman who transmigrates from a futuristic world into one based on ancient China. Right from the beginning, she's a powerhouse. She's psychic, has a space and has taken over a rather... more>> physically strong body. She immediately adjusts to this new found life with relative ease. Her new family is quite loving and she sets out to live a rather plain life with them. This of course fails because of the ML.

The ML is Fei Yanchaun, a Prince who initially has amnesia but recovers just as quickly as the MC adjusted to this new life. He's not overly black-bellied or manipulative but he does become jealous and possessive of the MC. It just never really shows as he never has a chance to be anything but doting and supportive of her (seriously, he has full confidence in everything she does).

This story is fast-paced and a lot of things happen. Unfortunately, a lot of those things just suddenly become unimportant by the end of the novel. It would not have been so bad but it felt like these things were all leading up to something more but then nothing ever happens.

Spoiler

We're occasionally given glimpses into the villagers who went a different route than the Shen Family. Mostly, it's how their lives are gradually becoming more terrible. Eventually, we stop getting those clips but it leaves their end fates unknown.

The Original Storyline gets completely turned on its head but we never learn the fate of those characters either. Just a blurb about the scholar arranging things for the Prince and then going into the city. And either I missed his ending completely or it just isn't there.

The Gu tribe is another. There is such a build up about the MC gaining a companion Gu but then nothing ever happens with it beyond using a 'truth' Gu. Which was unneeded as the MC had already used her psychic powers once to force someone to tell the truth. Not sure why they needed the addition of the Gu for that one scene.

Following that, we're told that one of the MC's companions has slipped into a coma from a different Gu and that the culprit escaped. Then it's just forgotten.

The Fourth Prince's machinations result in him becoming Emperor. Only for the other Princes to defeat him I guess? I mean, I might have subconsciously skipped his end but it was like one moment he was Emperor and the princes were attacking him and then the next the princes were attacking the West instead.

Also the General. Repeatedly we are told that people are trying to recruit him to their side but he doesn't want to join them. That he's got one of the largest militaries in the country. He gives the appearance of neutrality (which makes sense) but then the author reminds us that he has sided with the ML. Over and over. Every time he's mentioned, that gets mentioned. In the end, the ML just tells him to continue protecting his area and that's the only thing he wants from him.

[collapse]

Overall, I did enjoy it right up until we get to the last few chapters. And then we have an ending on par with the comic version of the Last Wish with some baffling writing choices (might be the translation but given the other thing that happens, inclined not to think so).

Spoiler

The final few chapters literally have the defeat of all the Princes. The ML's parents running away so they aren't made Emperor and Empress. The ML being crowned. People trying to get concubines in with the ML and failing. The Wedding of the MC and ML. No baby for at least a year. Then a son is born super fast. The son gets raised as Crown Prince and begins overseeing political stuff when he's two. The ML and MC then go on vacation when the Crown Prince is five. They travel the world and only return when the MC gets pregnant again. Then she gives birth to dragon-phoenix twins.

It's enough to could fill another half a book but we get it in like two chapters.

[collapse]

Overall, this story had a lot of potential but the author just decided to put in 'all the things' and then ignore them. I liked it but it's not something I'll probably reread or recommend. <<less
