I don’t understand the review saying the plot is very good. To be honest, the translation is quite bad... or maybe the writing itself is quite bad?

I can’t tell if it’s a translation issue or the authors writing that just makes small events hard to follow. You can grasp overall what happened in the chapter, but small details like who is saying what or who did what or what the joke is or what is being described is all very unclear. Part of it I think can be attributed to... more>> the author’s writing flying like style.

I agree that the MC is quite unlikeable. I don’t understand why San whatever the esper he’s living with really likes him- he acts up a lot and seemingly for no reason just flares up?

I’m 42 chapters in and still confused on the past of the MC’s body’s life despite the MC doing quite a lot. He does a lot of frustrating actions and the plot curves without real meaning. There’s a direction and I know what the plot is aiming towards but the way it’s getting there is so wayward it’s hard to be not be frustrated.

Even still, if it wasn’t for the writing style of the author or the translation I would’ve at least given this 3-4 stars. <<less

This story is very good, but the start is VERY weird. Basically both MC and the body MC ends up posessing are in bad situations and know like nothing about the world, in ways that are very annoying but make sense in context. It also fascinatingly introduces half the characters with violence; there are two theoretical love interests that don't punch the MC on greeting/meeting and like 4 that do. Why? I can't tell you, because the violence is basically absent in the story or romance, just the first few... more>> chapters.

The plotline is very good: MC was the best potion crafter in Korea, but was basically under house arrest/several magical contracts to be a s*ave manufacturer for a guild called Nox, specifically the guild master (who is absolutely the standard korean yandere ML oops all domestic violence). Anyways, he kills himself and tries to tear down Nox as he dies, and then wakes up in the body of a Guide who works for the government in the hospital. So we have mysteries upon mysteries: Where did Nox's guildmaster go? How is the Nox guild doing? Why does everyone in his team hate him? How did the person he's posessing die, and why did someone want him dead? How can he get his skills back, and why does the system itself seem to care about this situation? And maybe most significantly, why are espers and guides so highly controlled by the government that they are basically stuck on a prison island and can't even see their own statuses???

It is a BL story, and it's not queerbait, but MC is so uninterested that it's kinda irrelevant for most of the story. He's called attractive a lot, and just says 'thanks.' Guiding in a s*xual manner is implied to be more effective/common and he doesn't care. He wants to go make potions again. Kinda refreshing, but it depends on how much romance you wanted.

To clarify, there are dungeon gates, and several classes of awakeners. There are hunter, producer, esper, and auxiliary (guide/support) systems, with espers being much more powerful than hunters but having mental stress problems that only guides can fix. And espers & guides basically all go to the government the second they are identified, for "safety concerns" (military power). I like this distinction of espers/guides being special, while all the other hunters are just chilling doing their own thing; it mixes the two universe types amazingly well and gives reasons for the strong governmental "protection" as they are rare and valuable.

The story/worldbuilding basically puts MC in a massive elaborate cage where he has very little agency, and you watch him fight his way out: guides have their status screens controlled and can't hide information, you can't get through any of the buildings without a dedicated keycard/license, and he's stuck on a man-made island that only has planes/helicopters entering and exiting. That being said, the cage is described to be a lot more scary than it is: the first 10 chapters or so have him basically treated as a criminal, then have him dragged around with no privacy or, like, keycard access to the buildings he's moving through, but then 5 seconds later he's riding a bus around the island. Long story short, it's a cage, but it's a much better cage than he was before transmigration/possession, and it seems like he almost doesn't mind most of the time (especially once some character development makes people not hate him).

TLDR he's constantly being damseled the entire plot except he also like pulls out pepper spray and undamsel's himself the entire plot. That's it that's the draw of the story. The princess gets kidnapped, the princess drags the kidnapper through the court system and then shows up in prison with a potion to curse him for life. <<less

I loved it!

It has a similar feel to the s clases that I raised, but without the baiting. It has a really nice character development and the story keeps you engage. Is the typical story of hunters and dungeons and stuff.

Is a super slow burn and I like that is more story/character driven than romance driven, but the romance part is important to the story, is not just thrown in there just because.

Story Arc:

The series has a good body-swap event. The flow has a normal pace like the other reincarnation or possession Korean webnovels.

Good level up system. Romance:

I feel like this is yaoi (BL) and the illustration is showing a bit of its genre. People who read this type of game will normally recognize it.

Yandere male heroines are obsessed with the MC. Conclusion:

I therefore conclude to read it first. The translation is a slow, but we will expect a good pace of its content.

The series is recommended for R15.

I absolutely loved it. It has a tipical dungeon environment, but it's completely different from other novels.

A beautiful slow burning love story, not exactly a love story because the main point of the whole story how our cute and honest MC finally get his deserved dream life.

The focus is not on the fights (yes it has important roles) and just the necessary time there is more detail about theme.

Possessive and obsessive "boyfriend" candidates, but it's quite obvious who will be the winner. (Don't be mistaken, the MC is not a... more>> weakling, he is sensible but also has a strong heart)

Satisfying endig, and I think we get the answers for all of our questions.

Highly recommended, even though there is not a full english translation (but you can read the original online). <<less

The plot is a combination of the Guideverse (Espers and Guides) and the Hunterverse (Awakeners who don't need to be guided). There are also constellations, but it's only the Zodiac, and they don't function like those constellations that sponsor the Awakeners. It's an interesting premise, so I recommend giving the novel a chance.

However, do beware of the long shoveling. I was definitely not expecting the MC (Kang Euijin) to be one of the reasons of my frustration haha. It ultimately boiled down to his inability to make sound decisions at... more>> various times. Don't get me wrong, the MC is likeable in his own right. He's confident, loud, talented in his field as the only S-Class Potion Master, etc. But. He's emotionally-dull, naive to a fault, will keep important information to himself, single-minded, and likely the type to be swept away. Like an immature pre-teen. It's most likely due to his trauma and isolation. You'll find that at times, he's full of contradictions.

Also due to the nature of our MC, the Esper-side of the story kind of took the back burner. The focus on them was cut after around ch47. With loose-ends untied, obviously it bit him in the back later on.

The Male Leads

There are three of them if you include the psycho bastard who initially imprisoned him.

    1. Seong Sanha - is the real ML. Bad first impression because he literally punches MC. He apologizes hundreds of chapters later when MC and him FINALLY has the talk. Don't hate him too much, he's pretty sweet later on, just has some issues too.
    2. Han Seonjin - I initially liked him to be the main lead, but his destiny as the 2nd ML was fixed. I don't want to spoil much, but he's not all that nice. You know how it is. Some Espers can become obsessed with their guides. Plus, I couldn't get over how he was just a bystander when the original Joo Hohyeon was getting bullied.
    3. Tae Jeheon - The OG obsessed abusive psycho. We're not even sure if he really liked MC, but many people assume so.
    4. ***Honorary mention - Yeon Seungyeon - The MC's assistant. Helpful. Can cook. Nice. A bit of a wimp. He might've had a crush on MC, but generally just a very good friend who respects and admires his skills. The kind of person who you should marry instead of those three above.

Usually I don't write a review unless I finish a novel, have reached the last chapter available, am dropping the novel or putting it on hold. For this one, I am still debating which one of the later two options it is.

Thing is, the novel itself is okay, the plot seems good so far. What made me stop reading is the MC. Holy sh**, he annoys me. No idea where the clever protagonist tag comes from since he was almost scammed twice in the last few chapters alone. Dude... more>> seems to lack common sense which is kinda excusable since he was held isolated like a canary in his previous guild. But his ignorance and gullibleness still annoys the hell outta me, especially when it is paired with his inflated ego that is a result from being the best potion master before he died and switched bodies. He also has low low EQ and has straight male cancer which he often shows through angry rants containing curses and vulgar speech, a thing I especially dislike. He stubbornly verbally attacks people even when he is in a weaker position compared to his opponent, disregarding any bad consequences his outbursts could have. Other reviews have talked about the potential MLs being annoying, but for me the MC is currently the most problematic. I keep imagining him as a tiny chihuahua barking at a giant doberman when dealing with Seong San-ha.

Someone tell me, does the MC get less annoying? I really need to know to decide whether I wanna subject myself to more of this. <<less

Please don't hate me because of my review. The thing is, I really don't like stories with esper guide themes because of the excessive physical intimacy that often occurs in that genre. So, I was hesitant to read this story. However, because of the good reviews, I decided to give it a try.

Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it, even though the story itself is interesting. I have a strong dislike for male leads who are espers and require guidance, as it inevitably leads to physical intimacy with other characters. The... more>> character with the surname Han is nice, but because he is an esper who specializes in guiding other guides on how to guide, I just can't bring myself to like his character.

I apologize, but this is just my personal preference, and I mean no offense to those who like him. 😭🖐️ The character I'm rooting for is Yeon Seung-yeon, the one who partners with the MC in research or potion-making. He's a sweetie and not an esper, which makes me like him even more. 😂 As for the rest of the characters, they are all annoying and unlikable. I don't know why, but I can't say that this story is the same as "The S Class that I Raised, " except for having the same cliches characters that will eventually get obsessed to MC.

Unlike that story, some of the other characters are quite likable. However, the plot of the story is good. It's just that I'm not a fan of esper and guide theme stories.

Edit: I came across this review of mine again. Out of boredom, I read other people's reviews and finally found out who the main male lead is, and I want to say something....

The main character sucks, he really f***ing sucks. He's one of those types who appear really badass and very smart at first, but when it comes to romance, he chooses people who are 🤡, which is not a "so smart move. <<less

I honestly love this novel. Although the translation isn’t really that good, it’s still passable. Am a bit confused who’s the Ml???

I like the guy (I forgot his name) who always takes care of the MC, and the cute guy who helps the MC with her potions. The rest of the characters are soooo annoying.
