- Doesn't understand basic communication skill, since he thinks avoiding all kind of normal communication with his wife, is the best solution for their awful relationship (spoiler : he's not ret*rd, he's actually a normal guy. Lmao cool guy my a55, ML you sure you're not ret*rd?).

- Always jumping to wrong conclusions with his peanut size brain.

- Angry all the time (Banner is that you?).

- Victim mentality (*betchslap* "shut the fock off and man up and DO THE REAL TALK, betch! Don't just keep narating to yourself inside your peanut size brain, but talk to your focking wife! This novel would finish in just 10 chapters if you talk!).

FEMALE LEAD :

- Doormat. (-_____-") oh god.. Woman srsly? This is modern world ffs.

- She needs to see a shrink, in real life someone like her usually suicidal. She doesn't love and care about herself and her own happiness, she always feels unworthy, ML always makes her feels like she is a shitty woman who doesn't deserve to be loved or to be touched with love (normal healthy sex).

NOVEL :

- If you're an M you're gonna love this story.

- Infuriating because their problem should be solved just by communicating/talk and clear up the s*upid misunderstandings.

- Translations quality = good.

This is MY REVIEW, I made it after reading all the available translated chapters. I don't care if you like it or not, this is my honest review.

I regret it lol, I avoid this novel but decided to read it since I run out of good novels to read. But hey you should give it a try.. Might be your cup of tea, especially if you like angst, pain, s*upid prolonged misunderstandings, ice block ML and doormat FL.

The misunderstandings is what makes this story. Like it is the main thing in this story.

The whole marriage was a farce. ML was pretending to be his half brother who is in coma. Since the company was at stake, the board and other investor will try to pull out when they haven't seen ML's half brother after his car accident. Because what would happen to a company if there's no successor.

ML was a bastard son and his father and her wife hated him. Only his half bother cared for him.

ML was disguise as his half brother.

The marriage is a secret, only the business partners are invited to fool them The marriage is real though, but the name was between the half brother and the MC.

ML thought the MC love his half brother. And MC thought that he will never love her. Since he heard him saying that.

There's lot of misunderstanding but it won't really be that untorelable to that point that you want to kill the ML. Though I really don't like earlier chapters because of ML treatment to MC. But eventually the story gets better and better. I like how the story ended. It super satisfying.

ML is super tsundere. He would rather give up his happiness/love for the MC to be happy. How he spends a lot of money for the MC, since all of the money he save was for the MC to start with. How he became an actor to be worthy of the MC. How he always helps her behind her back. How he was ruthless to those who harm the MC.

MC in the later chapters will be the one to make a move for their relationship to take a turn. Like how she's the one who initiated the divorce to ML's half brother. Like how she's the one who chases the ML when she didn't turn out to ML's valentine surprise confession proposal, because she was in coma in the hospital for 4days. How she confesses in front of live television her story and love to the ML.

When ML read the love letter that MC made years ago and confront his half brother about it. How he realize that they have been in love with each other for a long time but none tried to confess.

How they reminisce in the past by going to there high school. Trying to act what could have happen if they confess much earlier. How they miss so many years.

Earlier chapters are such a heartache, but their relationship gets eventually warmer on chapter 200ish+

I admit that I skip most of the chapters at the beginning. I just read the manga to summarize the beginning chapters.

I would really recommend the story to everyone. Though it would be better to wait more chapters like 400ish or 500ish. The story didn't reach 1000 and the chapters only short. So I could say this story is only average in length. And you wouldn't wait for that long since the translator is fast.

Edit (completed) : I would really like to recommend this story. I think the ending of this story is one of the best ending I read out there compared to other chinese modern romance. The whole ride will be like roller coaster. There will be a lot of drama, but there's also a lot of sweet moments. But it will be worth it in the end. Truly an amazing story. Thumbs up to the author.

I hope you'll give it a shot.

Okay, hear me out----WHAT THE f*ck???

The FMC is such a hollow character; she's a walking doll with the words, 'you can bully me as you like, husband', written on her forehead. I CANT FIND A STRONG POINT OF HERS MYGOSH THE AUDACITY OF THE AUTHOR TO CREATE A CHARACTER THAT SURPASSES THE LIMIT OF A MARTYR/IDIOT (this is an insult from me---you can ignore it).

I'm 42 chapters in and I can say that it's so unrealistic. Who the f*ck can tolerate being in such an abusive marriage? Love? Nah boi,... more>> all I can conjure while reading is that, her so called definition of love is close to that of obsession for someone, it's more of a longing for attention really, not love. I mean, who the f*ck is inlove if he/she outright admits there's fear in the midst of admiration?

Okay, here's my real review:

The story feels foundationless at the start, few dozens of chapters in and the main characters' personalities still feel superficial; the most I could get is the basic package of (most) every mainstream novel their is:

• Cold, aloof, jumping-to-conclusions, don't-know-how-to-clarify-things kind of MC

• Weak, pathetic, uses-the-muscly-pump-of-the body-more-than-her-brain kind of FMC

The word r*pe seems non-existent in the story and really, the whole plot feels like misunderstanding that was stretched to its limits.

It can be a good read if you're too bored to find a decent novel or if you're into 'fragile' (/weak) FMCs, but it's definitely not the type of book you could be attached and be enthusiastic and eager to read every update that comes.

My review stems from the fact that I'm not into her type of personality, others' view may differ from mine and really, it could be a good read if the FMC experience a character development instead of cowering all the way and having her arms open wide, as if always ready for all the sufferings the MC's gonna dump on her. <<less

Deadass, the title could literally be middle schoolers dealing with adult matters. They just keep everything bottled up and can't seem to have a conversation like adults. I get it that there's the honeymoon period, but they need to move on and have some honesty in the relationship. All the things they did for each other over the years are never brought up in their conversations. The female lead has a box of all the stuff right in their bedroom closet that can clear everything up. This is like Naruto... more>> fillers all over again. The author just keeps introducing new situations that cause misunderstandings and makes me want to find out what happens at the end. But the author just doesn't develop the story. 354 chapters and things just returned back to square 1, and it just pisses me off that the author doesn't know where to draw the f*cking line. There is so much r*pe, so much melodrama, and so many things that shouldn't even be used in the sense. No human being is so patient, so defenseless, and so s*upid. The leads are brilliant and successful, but that's only in name. This is just wrong. My thought towards this is the same as my thoughts towards naruto: "I came this far, so I'll see it through to the end.". Honestly, I don't expect much. <<less

Seriously?! WTF. How is this romantic? It's an abusive relationship where the FL keeps blaming herself for the ab*se she's getting. And she's getting r*ped. How is r*pe romantic? I want to effing punch the face of ML nto unrecognizable mess because clearly that's the only good thing about him and he doesn't deserve it.

Like, I give a lot of leeways to most shoujo novels because not every relationship is perfect at the beginning and this is fiction. I get that. I consider myself pretty patient with novels. I wouldn’t even mind if the writing is subpar or if the translations are not that good. Still, this... I cannot take this anymore. As much as how the ML and FL “love” each other, I would never be able to accept the ML for the FL anymore. She’s being ab*sed and all she does is endure and rationalize for the guy’s sake. For instance, he’d force himself on her and afterwards she’d wonder what words she said to make him angry. PLEASE TELL ME SOMEBODY ELSE CAN SEE WHAT’S WRONG WITH THIS. PLEASE. He repeatedly said he never stopped caring for her yet he took advantage of her body more than once. It’s inexusable.

Simply put, this story makes me want to flip my table in anger. It makes me want to punch my screen and destroy everything. So many misunderstandings! And unlike other stories, these misunderstandings don't make the story cute, they make me want to cry... This story is setting itself up to become a really good book with a great romance but right now it just makes me want to curl up in a ball and cry. I'm so annoyed! Read it if: you like emotional rollercoasters, you can tolerate caricature chinese characters and ab*se, you can bear through the angst for the late, eventual sweetness.

The author is an evil farmer. She milks you out emotionally as if you're a sentient cow. Using dysfunctional relationships, obstinate characters and eternal misunderstandings, she sucks you into the misery of this story. Eventually, you will be served humongous amounts of sugar and die of obesity in the span of 150 chapters.

I would've given it a 2 because of the author's proficiency at the... more>> art of milking out emotions, but it became 1 because she writes too fillery/bloatedly.

Despite all its flaws, despite me feeling very frustrated and disgusted at times, I still got s**ked into it and didn't drop it. And the end was sweet, at least...

The male lead is abusive and doesn't communicate his thoughts to the female lead at all. He has anger issues and needs to go to a mental hospital or see a therapist about it. A toxic melo-drama of s*upid misunderstandings. Five or Ten chapters would have been okay to end this story at, but the author likes money more than strong plot and character development. Which I don't see these qualities in this story, so I'm dropping this novel. Not worth my time and the author seriously dragged this novel out.

Edit: I feel like the people rating this novel with high ratings and dismissing why people are rating it a 2 or 1 star are hugely misunderstanding why we rated it so low. The clear reason is: ABUSIVE and TOXIC male lead. He r*peS, emotional ab*ses, and physical ab*ses (how he treats her even when he r*pes her) the female lead. I don't get how some ladies can praise this story dismissing that he mistreated and r*peD her. I'm okay with misunderstandings in romance stories, but when it becomes toxic like in this novel - IT'S NOT OKAY. <<less

I've only read up to the current chapter (18) - I feel like all their problems could be solved (or at least alleviated) if they just sat down and had a heart-to-heart. It simply does not make sense for either one of them to act the way they do.

Like, why on earth would the husband be abusive if he's cool with just no interactions with the wife for months at a time. Why would the wife internally claim to love the husband so much yet still show no caring towards... more>> him? I would get it if the husband always was an abusive as*hole but that doesn't seem to be the case.. Worst Romance, no it's should not called as romance. It so ab*se, sick, r*pe novel. I will never ever read this author novel. I really think author has thing for rapist. Tbh this is one of the best stories I've read so far. The opening and climax couldn't stop me from reading. I spent a lot of my time reading it instead doing my actual chores. The characters were eventually dragged me into their life and I could feel how hurt both of the main characters felt. Even though there are a lot of misunderstanding and hateness but as people say: No Pain No Gain. Somehow it taught me about life. Can't wait to read the next chapter.<3 <3

I completely agree with jcrsaintsI's review and it just so happened that we gave up at the same chapter.

I usually don't write reviews for stories that already have several existing ones but this has reached my limit.

I simply cannot comprehend how such contents feature the 'expression of love' of the ML, however 'tsudere', without psychological and mental disorders.

Stop insulting tsuderes by associating the ML with the word, or at least the version of ML up till chapter 147.

You DO NOT r*pe your 'loved one's over and over again, debase her, ab*se her trying to clarify that you do not have any other love interests.

You DO NOT constantly try to approach someone who has repeatedly r*ped you, physically and psychologically ab*se you in any enclosed room, period. Unless you enjoy the torture, which of course the FL express nothing of that sort, yet accepts the the ab*se as it is and blames herself for 'triggering' the ab*ser instead.

Even the author pens down that the FL is aware that she is constantly giving him the power to hurt her for goodness' sake.

There are total 3 couples involved and all ends with happy ending (kind of) but XJM and SXS is my favorite couple. I got love-have relationship with them.

I thought Korea Drama is already dramatic but nope, this one worse. How can there be sooooo much misunderstanding!

Just finished the whole novel with my limited understanding of chinese (I'm proud of myself lol)

While reading, I want to stop it but I can't. I know that I need to stop reading and do daily chores but I can't. It's like being put under the spell by author. Too much frustration that you will want to know when will they clear out misunderstanding and so on.

But I didn't regret spending total 5 days to finish the whole novel. :D

This is a story that absolutely thrives on melodrama so if you're into that sort of story then this might be more enjoyable. However, I'm not much of a fan of melodrama and I find this story frustrating and at times uncomfortable to read.

From the very first chapter, it's obvious that the main characters are in a toxic relationship. The husband is both emotionally and physically abusive to the point where the wife quakes when he's near and can't look him in the eyes. Things only get worse over time... more>> at story goes on.

We find out that both characters have had a longstanding crush on each other for years and that various mistakes and misunderstandings meant they just kept passing each other by. I can only assume the sunk cost fallacy is hard at play here because the husband's extreme jealousy leads to some (thankfully glossed over) dubcon scenes that leave the wife battered and bruised all over and she still keeps coming back.

The misunderstandings are really deep, DEEP. But that's the intention of the author. it was made like that, stated in the description itself, you can't complain about the second-main topic of the novel "misunderstanding" that is like complaining and rating a novel with 1 stars because you hate harem and that novel is "HAREM".

The MCs feel for each other since they meet, love at first sight. They wanted to be together so hard but couldn't due to the misunderstandings and the fact that their personalities are screwed... more>> up. (ML is cold, but he deeply cares about the FM, not saying anything about that, though). The FM screwed up everything in the chapter 1 with what she said, things would have turned in a different way, the novel would have ended in less than 10 chapters, no, the novel would have been a one-shot novel if the words she has chosen were different.

The ML is a bit overboard though... when he is jealous, he forces himself on her, venting his feelings, treating her like she was nothing but a sl*t prepared for him.

Don't worry, the chapters are really short (600 words), so, even if the novel has so many misunderstandings, you can read the chapters really fast and the plot never stays in the same place for 1000000 chapters like in other novels.

The misunderstandings aren't that hurtful, they prevent their relationship to make progress but it doesn't screw everything up (Like she is kidnaped after a tantrum in home or something like that, it never happens).

Try to fast-read the novel and the pain in the heart for the misunderstandings won't kill you.

Btw, I want to say something about the description:

'You are not allowed to touch me in public. You are not allowed to tell anyone that I'm your wife. You are not allowed to tell anyone that we stay together.' it was like she completely hates their relationship.

"On their marital night, she had told Lu Jinnian that she won't be a hindrance, won't affect his lifestyle, and won't let the public know about their relationship.

She also added that since they weren't a real couple, they couldn't consummate."

But the ML answered with "You better remember your words"

Their misunderstandings have their own reasons though, since the beginning of their relationship when they were young, they were always working, not to get into a relationship with each other, instead, working hard to make themselves "worth" of the other, they focused on make themselves worth, not to grow up their relationship. They planned to confess once they think that they are now worthly.

The ML was poor, he was working hard to get money and protect her.

The FL wanted to stay by his side, she was indeed trying to work on their relationship but she was too shy (her parents died since she was young and she was treated a bit like an outsider in the house of her aunt).

Both of them were shy to share their feelings, they were trying to approach slowly, but that was increasing their distance. She wants to be in the same class as him so she studies really hard to bring her grades up. He wants to be in the same class as her so he purposefully fails the test.

That made them think that the other part was avoiding them, causing them to think that every action they made in the future, was not due to love or care, instead, hate or for their "public image". Working really hard to be with the other, but thinking that the other part hates them, they were really hurt and lost their confidence.

Ok, this is not a reasonable misunderstanding anymore, he has seen her crying but treated more even badly and ran away like a coward, the misunderstandings became really forced, this is just getting annoying. Will I have to wait till chapter +600-700 for their relationship to improve?

She was pregnant, her """"mother-in-law"""" was angry because the child was from the ML and secretly gave her some pills to kill their child, the child died, she wasn't aware of her pregnancy and abortion. Some time later, seeing that they still had some feeligs for each other, the mother-in-law made another scheme, twisting the story and making it sound like the ML didn't want their child and decided to forcefully abort it, the FM didn't ask him about it, never complained, just cried silently.

Author, I know that your intention is to make them really dumb and dense, but they are 28 years old adults, you made them smart for everything but not for relationships. There should be a limit, you cannot write so many s*upid things like that, this is way worse than a "Young Master" every 10 chapters in a Xianxia novel.

I am trying to give this novel a chance, but the vague beginning and the unlikable male character really grates on my nerves. The anger he shows towards the female MC seems so misplaced, new readers are not really sure what was the basis of his rage from even before their night of consummation. As for the female MC, she is constantly painted as a wilting flower whenever she is around him, rendering her completely unable to articulate coherent sentences. There is angst about her wondering he was so full... more>> of hatred for her, yet she cannot bring herself to ask him even after giving him her c*astity. I have an overwhelming urge to kick the crap out of the male character and gag him so that he has no choice but listen to the female MC for once.

Perhaps my opinion is skewed, having just read "Trial Marriage Husband" which features a completely opposite pairing to this. The difference in confidence and 'class' of the characters are quite drastic between these two novels. <<less

So far (as of chapter 109) it is pretty good and I am enjoying it. I don't know why there are so many 1 star reviews because I am really satisfied with this story. The translator, although new, does a good job translating the story and the author wrote an enjoyable piece. I rated it 5 stars because I have read up to the latest chapter in the manhua, and I absolutely love the story.

The novel is about Qiao Anhao, the main character of the story, who is married to... more>> Lu Jinnian, the male lead, and both have a hard time with the marriage. Anhao is just starting out in the entertainment field; Jinnian has been successful and owns a company with many A-list celebrities. Anhao is secretly in love with Jinnian and Jinnian thinks that Anhao is a sl*t who sleeps with him for acting roles. The novel alternates between their school days and the present to show what happened between Jinnian and Anhao.

The only annoying part of this story is:

all the misunderstandings that occur in the beginning (well at least I am assuming because I haven't read the whole story) and how Jinnian misunderstands the past and treats Anhao like shit.

Not a great story but if your favored genre is romance you'll suck it up and read it anyway.

In essence it's the tsundere white knight that always saves the damsel in distress. Unfortunately the knight and the damsel are rather annoying in their timidity.

If you enjoy long chapters that let you submerge into the story, you are in for a world of disappointment. The chapters are probably the equivalent to one page double spaced text. On top of that the first paragraph is usually a repeat of the previous chapter's... more>> last paragraph or a synopsis of it. I usually feel cheated when I read them.

The premise of the story is about two people who won't declare their love for each other - even though half the story is internal dialogue about how intense their everlasting love is. The concept is good for maybe the first 100 chapters but now it's just the author killing time.

Character development is practically non-existent. The author describes the main male lead as a very stubborn person for an excuse to keep his character static. He is a whiny somewhat annoying character who uses his family history to justify being blind and ungrateful to the good things in life. Well except for anything that involves the female lead. The female lead is marginally better. At least her actions evolve over time.

Physical contact is used to move the plot along. Some people may not be into that.

There are some not both party initiated but not really r*pe scenes. I'd classify it as unenthused. As of chapter 212 there is some movement between the characters towards a more amiable relationship.
