This is my first time writing a review. I will highlights the negatives and positives of this story.

Lu Jinnian and Qian Hao are childhood friends. It's the most common plot in romance novels.

Especially the MC have unrequited love to the ML. It's not bad or a good thing but it's so typical.

... more>> Due to unexpected events the ML and MC got an arranged marriage. There's a lot of reason for that but let's leave it like that.

One of the negativities of the story is the personalities of the characters.

Let's start with the ML, Lu Jinnian.

The story compliment Lu Jinnian as one of the most greatest actor in the history. Especially he leads a failure company into success.

Okay, for his personality of him. He sucks really big time seriously. He always hurt the MC, not only physically but emotionally. Actually he is the biggest jerk of all time in this story. Even though he has a lot of problems in his life, hurting the MC is unfair.

The next one is Qian Hao, she is categorize as a lady who trying her best to love the ML. Following him in the showbiz business because of so much love and that's not even healthy anymore. As they say love yourself more than others. The MC don't treasure herself so much even though she is being physically abused and r*ped by the ML, she still takes it. If I'm her I will divorce the ML for real.

For the other characters they are a fine gems, they have a better personality than the main cast.

The story has a lot of miscommunications and misunderstanding between the MC and ML. That is the downfall of this story. If one of them is brave enough every mess will be fix.

But who I am to judge. If there's no conflict, there's no story and that's much more boring.

There's a good side by the way, if you love masochistic genre. This will be suitable for you guys. And the masochistic scenes are really a lot until half if I'm not mistaken.

It's a good story if you are in the middle. But it takes time, I even read for almost 3 days and I'm still in this chapter. I even skip unimportant parts.
All in all if I will rank the story, 5 star as the highest. I will give 2 and half stars.

It's a good waste of time to read story but not a worth story to read again.

Please be reminded not all the story that's been advertise it's not so good, this is the best example. I thought this will be a good story and I will have fun reading it but I get tired and skip a lot while reading.

You will know if a story is good if you didn't skip any scenes and just want to read it as a whole. <<less

This is what happens when two tsundere characters fall in love. Neither can tell the other and its just endless excuses to explain away their actions as absolutely anything but love.

Its not meant as a comedy, but I actually found it a hilarious "comedy of errors." She wants to be in the same class as him so she studies really hard to bring her grades up. He wants to be in the same class as her so he purposefully fails the test. Now imagine circumstances like that for ten years.

I... more>> really love this type of story. Yes, its overly dramatic and everything could be solved if they just talked to each other, but that's what I like about it. I'm a sucker for a soap opera.

The chapters are really short, but I didn't start reading until it was already close to six hundred releases, so I haven't had any problems with that. Now that I've caught up, I'll probably wait to read after saving up 20 or so chapters. <<less

I come here after reading the manhua version because I want to read a more detailed version. Surely, the novel version is more depressing than the manhua version. I have to wait until 600++ chapters until MC and ML have their happy ending. Fortunately, each chapters aren't long so I could finish this novel relatively fast.

MC and ML's love story is actually quite beautiful. Imagine, loving each other for 13 years without wavering, not many could accomplish that in a real world. But it doesn't mean that I'm satisfied with... more>> all the things that happened in this novel. On the contrary, I also have my dissatisfaction, like:

Spoiler
    • ML's abusive behaviour towards MC when he still thought that MC loved his brother, Xu Jiamu. I know that ML was frustrated but still that's not how you treat the woman you loved. If you loved her, you won't bear to hurt her, let alone abuse and ra*e her. Later, he became henpecked husband after getting together with MC but I still couldn't forget his past behaviour towards MC.
    • MC was clearly not a pushover. She could stand up when she was bullied but I don't know why she was so meek in front of ML. Yes I know she loved him but she shouldn't let ML abused her and trampled over her dignity.
    • Xu Jiamu was no better than ML. She kept Song Xiangsi as his mistress for 8 years without any intention to make it official because he wanted to marry someone equal to his status (what a je*k). But when Song Xiangsi wanted to end their ambiguous relationship, he got angry and even slapped her. Of course later he regretted his treatment towards Song Xiangsi and it's almost too late. Fortunately he repented himself and Song Xiangsi still loved him so they could be together.
    • At first, I hate Qiao Anxia because her action led to so many unfortunate events in MC and ML's life. She misled Han Ruchu (Xu Jiamu's mother) and made her think that Jiamu loved MC so Han Ruchu would choose MC as her son's fiancee over her. Because of it, Han Ruchu sabotaged ML's confession to MC and made them missed each other for 5 years. She also sabotaged MC's pregnancy that led to her miscarriage. When ML tried to confess again, Han Ruchu pushed MC down the stairs and made ML thought that MC didn't want him. Qiao Anxia also contributed to ML's misfortune in this event because she didn't want to disclose MC's whereabout and made ML left in despair. When MC and ML finally got together, I'm so furious because Qiao Anxia actually had an audacity to be angry at MC (Qiao Anxia was once obsessed with ML but ML ruthlessly rejected her). But later after she saved MC and apologized to her, I'm not angry at her anymore. In fact, I found her very pitiful because she couldn't have a child for the rest of her life after getting stabbed by Han Ruchu. Also, her ending was so abrupt unlike other characters.
    • Han Ruchu was vicious but she's not the only one who's guilty (aside from Qiao Anxia of course) in the series of unfortunate events in our lead's life. The other guilty party was Xu Wanli (Jiamu and ML's father). He was the one who started it all by being an unfaithful husband in the beginning of his marriage. After knowing about ML's existence, he refused to take any responsibility and even treated him like a stain in his perfect life. I know Han Ruchu treated ML like an eyesore but she shouldn't blame ML because he didn't ask to be born. She should resent Xu Wanli and exact her revenge towards him instead of ML. In the end Han Ruchu got her own contribution but Xu Wanli left unpunished.
    • Why the author kept calling ML's assistant as "the assistant"? He clearly had a name (I also forgot his name because the author only mentioned his name once in a while). I don't know if this is a problem from the author or the translator.
    • Another guilty party that left unpunished was Lin Shiyi. She did many bad things to MC but she's still alive and kicking like a c*ckroach in the end of the story. Where's her retribution?

I read the manga long time ago. And I honestly feel this story was somber and I did't enjoy it much. There are a lot of loophole and misunderstanding for years which is unbearable. If only they have good communication, everything will be solved in 1 day. What a waste of time, they spent years apart only for what? Hurting each other and hurting yourself? S*upid.

The story is about not having courage to verbalize their love for each other and a lot of misunderstandings. However, it took 600+ chapters before it got eventually resolved. The 200+ chapters, their relationship got better then it got worse because of more misunderstandings. This story has got a lot of angst, even the story with the brother has got a lot of angst, although he deserved it. This is just too frustrating but at the same time sweet. The sweetness is over the top and ALMOST made up for... more>> the angst.

Spoiler

Especially when they decided to get married again. The sweetness just overflowed. I really really like their interaction when they got married again.

But still, so frustrating!!! <<less

One of the best romance webnovels I've read so far. Out of the author's other novels, I think this one is the best. The romance between ML and FL is rocky at first but becomes very endearing and heart wrenching later on. Misunderstandings, 13-year long love, and unconditional romance, that stuff is just right up my alley, but it might not be up yours. A lot of people think the FL is too much of an annoying pushover but I think she's a strong female character for facing her current... more>> circumstances and loving the ML no matter what. It's beautiful

The first few chapters will make you sob. Actually more like first few hundred chapters. But it's so worth the wait, and the romance is so gut-wrenching, I love it. Maybe I'm a masochist, but I thrive off the heartache in this novel. <<less

This story is truly "wonderful"

The ML "loves" FL so much tht from time to time he HAS to leave some blue/green marks on her body and he especially "likes" her neck so much tht every time he "holds" it she is nearly strangled to death everytime. He can't live without her flesh so the poor guy has to take some flesh off of her with the help of his teeth from time to time. Since childhood our "pitiful" ML had an inferiority complex so he HAS to physically abuse his... more>> rich wife for self satisfaction.

Also the country where this story takes place is amazing. Guy's like our ML would die to protect this type of country where they are the kings and can do whatever they want. You know if these type of guys where in my country they would also be received with much "hospitality" but the only diffence is tht they would be invited to prison for some tea. There they would be served tea for decades.

✌Peace✌

Don't get influenced with bad things.

Physical/Mental/s*xual abuse/harassment is a heinous sin/crime <<less

I've read this novel for the second time now.

Somehow, what I love about the story was how it can really happen in real life. Cheesy, yes.

My heart aches for the MC, but do have patience in reading this, overall it was really a good read. Great plot with the right twist and turns.

Emotions here and there.

All worth your time.

It's kinda bittersweet story... About first sight love... The ML at the start of the novel kinda cruel... Although he loved the FL but he didn't show it at first.. slowly the progress we see how much the ML loved the FL and FL loved the ml... It just a bit unjust for the FL cousin the get her karma... Its all just because of misunderstanding...

Overly long-winded, characters are very annoying because the plot armor keeps making them seems like aliens or ret*rds to keep the story going. Ending is kind of ok. Would not read again, given the chance to forget this whole story.

How can you bare to hurt someone you love? Because you're hurting?

There's really no trust between the two leads. Not good of a plot, it's only frustrating to see a problem that can be solved in a day to be dragged to years. If it's in real life, it will only take months to end the relationship.

A 4 star and not a 5 star because I felt the plot went in circles. This novel is your bonafide teenage romance angst novel. let me say that again. teenage. romance. angst.

teenage.

romance.

... more>> angst.

teenage.

romance.

angst.

teena-

you get the point. and I gobble up these kind of angsty novels. so this would have been a good read for me except it dragged on for far too long. again that is where the 1 star disappeared to. the draggy plot gobbled it up, sorry. ¯_ (ツ) _/¯ [going off of what clurnzs said, "patience is a virtue for this novel"]

being me, I probably sKiPPeD 60~300 chapters. hehe. however, once the turning point sets in place, it's a very fun ride as the story peaks. very angsty too. yUM. and the ending...

In my reviews, unless it's full out torture and abuse/other horrific actions by a character that isn't justified by their background story that would at least explains something, I won't write a warning about it. the ML in this book did cruel and seriously s*upid things to the MC, but I think more than the physical abuse he did it was more of a crime of emotional abuse. and I also believe the MC did her fair share of emotional abuse, even if it's the crime of obliviousness.

ok I'm not gonna lay my thoughts on whether MC deserves ML or ML deserves MC. they both had their faults, and that made them both s*upidly human. what do you know. hAhA. <<less

PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE for this novel.

When a misunderstanding leads to more misunderstanding due to miscommunication and self-destruction.

The two leads do not talk and assumes everything on their own. They love each other for years but still took the road of a pessimist, no-one-loves-me, blah blah blah... Yeah right, if you do not have patience for a couple that love each other to death but assumes the other does not love him/her back, then do not even think about reading this.

I tried reading another novel from this author but meh... more>> once is enough for this type of novel. I’m not fond of this type of story but its like a new and fresh genre for me when I encountered this.

I read this when this novel is still ongoing. I am not sure why I persisted reading back then as I am recalling it now. I just want to see how every misunderstanding would be cleared. Maybe thats how I persisted.

This was the first romance novel I have read completely. <<less

If you look for a fast-paced novel that can rapidly bring you fluf, this is not the right novel. But if you have the courage to struggle along the MC and ML and don't mind waiting for a long time to see how they finally are able to achieve hapinness, then you can get on this emotional rollercoaster.

Prepare to cry, because reading this novel will make you suffer. The story of two people deeply in love with each other but who keep missing each other once and again, due to... more>> misunderstandings created by themselves or those around them. It really makes you go mad how easily they would be able to clear all misunderstandings if they were to speak up and be sincere, but whenever they try to be brave there's always something interrupting and in the end it cannot be solved.

At some points of the novel, I've felt heartbroken and cried many times, but if you are able to endure it then you'll be rewarded with chapters that will make you smile and want to reread them again and again. Once the truth of their feelings is revealed bit by bit, the sweetness it exudes will compensate for all those previous tears, and seeing how they open up to the other and how similar their thinking has been for all these years is really sweet. Once our couple has already reached their HE, prepare to spill some more tears with the supporting characters stories, none of them have it easy. <<less

Err... where do I start? Lol. I'm giving this a 3.5 or 4. At firat I don't like it because there's a lot of angsty and misunderstanding going on between the FL and the ML. Plus a lots and lots of scheming. But at the end it was quite fluffy and cute and also it has like side stories with Anxia and Jiamu's step-brother.

I love this story (this is my favorite) this is my 7 time reading this story (only 4 times from beginning to end). I know lots of people will hate the ML for the first 200 or so chapters, I remember I stop reading this story for like a week or so after I finish the first few chapters because I hated the ML but I decided to give it a try because I couldn’t find anything else to read and oh boy best decision ever☺️. I love this... more>> story and love how they confess their love SHMILY or 520 they loved each other so much but they couldn’t say it and that’s what makes this story so good the misunderstanding that they had is the whole plot of this story but I never get bored of reading how much they loved each other to the point they were scared to say it, that might sound like a turn off but is something real that happens all the time to people, I was reading the comments how it had so many negatives and how they had a big communications issues that they should be adults and talk bla bla bla 😒

Spoiler

but when they were young she was timid and he was “not worthy of her” and when he wanted to confess his father’s wife told him she loved someone else and what her cousin do didn’t help. Also is not like he is going to go and say I love you to his brother’s wife (not really his wife). Best part ever is when she took revenge for him and for their unborn baby and then goes and tell him what actually happen on the day they where going to meet but she ended up falling from the stairs, even better he flights all the way back from America because of how happy he was 🥰

this story has so many sweet scenes. Just saying I really want a husband like him and when I find him I will definitely play Rock, Paper, Scissors with him ❤️ <<less

I haven't finished the story yet by the time I'm writing this, and I have no plans to ever finish reading it.

This story made me give up. No story has ever made me give up on reading them completely. I am very patient even if the novel is painful in a way that hurts my brain, not my heart.

But this story is amazing, it made me give up. Before I tell the bad things, I'll tell good things first.

The story was new to me at first. I was excited when... more>> I was reading this because I thought it's new. The male lead, Lu Jinnian, is actually an illegitimate child and not some young master of an unbelievably rich and influential family. He was also softer than other male leads when he was young.

Spoiler

He would spend his savings for Qiao Anhao even if he is poor. I like how he sacrifices so much for Qiao Anhao. I like how he wanted to be a rich man to dote on Qiao Anhao in the future. I like the way Qiao Anhao's face will be red when Lu Jinnian is around. Then, the misunderstandings came. Alright, it's reasonable to give up on Qiao Anhao when faced with the pressure from your family and the feeling of being indebted to his half-brother.

[collapse]

It's frustrating how the series of misunderstandings led them to be apart from each other when they are so close to being together! But then the kind Lu Jinnian suddenly became so bad in my eyes. He abuses Qiao Anhao sexually. What right does he have? They aren't a couple, not even legitimately married. Does he have Anhao's consent? Okay, Anhao likes it because she took the initiative of climbing on his bed. But I refuse to believe that what Lu Jinnian does to Qiao Anhao is an act of love! After satisfying himself, he just turns around and leaves Anhao! He doesn't care about Anhao, I refuse to believe that Jinnian really loves Anhao.

I skipped to the end of this story just to see what happens in the end. The story was predictable. I knew that Jinnian and Anhao will reconcile, get married properly in the end, and have kids. I don't know whether the Lu family of this story will accept it but they probably will be mad. I know that the girl surnamed Song and Lu Jinnian's half-brother would end up together the moment the Song girl said that the person she loved is dead.

This story isn't enjoyable, it's tiring to read. The story is too slow, and I don't get why they can't solve their misunderstandings so easily. I don't feel the love from the couple. To those who finished the story, wow you are amazing! You deserve a round of applause. To those who like the story, I won't judge you.

I just can't finish it anymore, so this is all based on the current chapters I've read. I don't find the story worthy of my time anymore. <<less

Can't do half stars, but would probably give this a 3 and half starts because, honestly, it made me want to rip my hair out until chapter 300 or so (maybe sooner, can't exactly remember when it took a turn for the better). If you can hang on till then it gets much better. Plus side is the chapters are somewhat short, especially at the start, so it doesn't take that long to get to the better parts.

The whole novel is based around the misunderstandings of the main couple. Each... more>> thinks the other is in love with someone else and refuses to make a move on them because they don't want to be rejected and/or want the other to be happy so give up before confessing. During the fake marriage the ML was a total jerk and the MC was a giant pushover.
Spoiler

Really, who would go back to the dude after he rather violently r*ped her several times??

[collapse]
However, once they get out of the fake marriage and start going after each other it gets much better. The main couple acts so sweet with each other it nearly gave me cavities.

As for the secondary couples, one story I liked and the other I felt was rushed/forced. The relationship with the ML's half brother I enjoyed reading. He was a total jerk to his mistress/girlfriend when the author started writing about them, but it became really heartbreaking when they split up.
Spoiler

He thought she aborted their child, made a grave for the baby, and would visit the grave and cry about how much he missed both the baby and the mother. Granted, I also felt sorry for her before they even split up because of how much of a clueless jerk he was.

[collapse]
MC's cousin got stabbed protecting MC which ended up damaging her lady parts and making it almost impossible for her to get pregnant. She knew this from the start and kept getting treatment for years (8 I think?) trying to fix the problem. All the while her husband had come to terms with not having children even though he really wanted them. MC's cousin finally had what I guess was a breakdown and tried to get her husband to sleep with someone else who liked him so she could divorce him and he could have a "complete family." Plan, of course, failed and husband came home to comfort wife. Then they adopted a child.

What bothers me is that from breakdown to adoption happened in the span of one short chapter. It just felt so rushed compared to the other secondary couple. Plus, there is no reason that they couldn't have adopted earlier and still tried to solve her infertility issues. Everything about this couple just seemed so half done, it would have almost been better to leave the relationship out of the story.

Overall, I would say it is worth reading if you can struggle through the frustrating start. <<less
