Being a Supporting Female Character at An All Boy’s High School (Transmigration)

When Pei Jin awoke, she discovered that she had transmigrated into the novel she had been reading just before she fell asleep, “All Handsome Men’s Highschool.”

While the female lead had justifiably attended the all boy’s school in place of her sickly and weak older brother, her infiltration as a supporting female labeled her as a pervert.

In order to not ruin her reputation, Pei Jin tightly wrapped up her female figure and cautiously waited for graduation.

However, on the road of disguising herself as a boy, her roommate, the demon king, constantly made trouble for her.

If the demon king wasn’t yelling, “Peipei, I forgot to grab my briefs, help me get them”, then he was teasing her, “Peipei, how come your body smells so nice, just like a girl’s.”

When talking about unpleasant topics at the boy’s dormitory, in order to appear more friendly, Peipei could only persevere and speak obscenely with the big demon king.

It was all perfect.

Peipei had always thought that her disguise was flawless, but after a conversation one night, her demon king of a roommate suddenly got onto her bed and tightly grabbed her wrist, smiling casually, “Peipei, you’re really treating me as if I’m blind?”

Peipei, “(⊙o⊙)…Meow Meow Meow?”

“Teasing me every day, are you acting like I’m dead?”

Peipei: “I’m not, I didn’t, I just want to get along well, don’t talk nonsense!”

The demon king’s lips lifted into a smile, “You were too young before, so I was reluctant to touch you, but now…… I will never let you go.”

Reading Tips:
1. Don’t care about logic, because there is no logic.
2. The Male Lead is a demon king, the Female lead is a little sweetheart.
3. The character’s world perspective does not represent the author’s.

Hello, I am the translator for this story. This will be a lengthy review due to the recent popularity of this novel.

To preface, this novel certainly has a very interesting premise, a cross-dressing girl at an all boys' high school is a story plot that is quite generic, yet each story brings it's unique twist. However, disclaimer: This story does not have much drama, the purpose of its creation was to appeal to a maiden's desire for young love, and is generally catered toward a demographic of young, teenage... more>> girls, like the 'shoujo' category in Japanese Manga.

The basis of my review will reflect three parts: Story purpose (with adherence to it's genre), Characterization, and Plot.

A. Story Purpose:

The writer does a phenomenal job doing what the story was meant for, which is a simple, sweet and very cliche story for every romanticist. There are several points throughout the story where you will feel your heart flutter in delight from the sweet interactions between Peijin (FL) and He Xun (ML). The entire thing is pure fluff, and jam-packed with many scenes depicting what we, well I, wished to experience when dating during my teenage years.

Three instances I physically squealed out loud:

    • Chapter 10: Peijin cooks birthday noodles for He Xun after discovering his unfortunate family situation, it was the second time in his life he had ever received such a gift.
    • Chapter 18: The Classic: There was only one bed, and two of them trope, where the two end up stranded at the beachside and manage to find one vacant room at an overbooked hotel, they sleep together (gasp) and end up cuddling.
    • Chapter ~20: After Peijin receives a gift from a young schoolgirl she has managed to unknowingly charm during her time as a guy, He Xun gets jealous and purposely tries to one-up the girl's gifted homemade fruits and sweets by doing it himself. However, he's never done housework a day in his life.

I will stop here, I do not want to spoil the far sweeter scenes afterwards.

The story is very nostalgic, it reminds me of when I would watch what is now branded as the 'original' shoujo shows such as Ouran High School Host Club, or Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama, and takes inspiration from the scenes there.

B. Characterization:

The story's character development is a bit... complicated, but also very, very simple.

Since the story's purpose is centered around such a cliche plot, so you must except the unoriginality the characters will display.

Example: Peijin, Female Lead

She's very, very sweet, and quite a worry-wart, however this may make her seem like someone who has a personality as bland as one of those standard wood doors. Others may be put-off and see this character as boring or undesirable, but I do not quite see it the same way. A caring person is a worrywart at heart, and that is very apparent in Peijin's case, she's been transmigrated into a new world and can only rely on He Xun's untouchable status in an archetypal hierarchical high school.

Perhaps I am biased as a translator, but to me, even if the author does not deeply characterize her, she is sweet-heart whose personality perfectly balances out the ML's (He Xun).

Example: He Xun, Male Lead

He's a unique character, but also at the same time, also just as cliche. While he's the typical 'wealthy bad-boy with a troubled background, his true nature juxtaposes that. I really like He Xun's personality, it's sort of gap moe. He is fiercely loyal for those who care about him, and holds a high sense of responsibility for himself, making him turn out to be someone that one couldn't help but rely on. However that sort of reliability can come to your detriment if you feel responsible for everything someone you care about does, especially if they continuously ask for your help, case in point:

He Xun's Personality:

    • One of He Xun's old friends were known for being a player, which was a way he was trying to validate his own masculinity. Something terrible had happened as a result of his friend's ways, which he covered up because his friend begged for his help. He Xun's feelings of familial abandonment and alienation has probably led him to rationalize his friends behavior purely because he is afraid of losing people, however Peijin calling his friend out, seemed to give He Xun a way out of the toxic relationship.
    • He genuinely undergoes a sort of transformation during the time he and Peijin are together, at the start he does the generic "I don't feel feelings, I'm so aloof" thing, and tries to be a "man" by stating his intentions to never do housework or coddle a woman. He is a liar. Additionally, he seems to become more open with his emotions after being pampered by Peijin, which is apparently is something he's never experienced before.

He stands out among other ML's because he's been respectful since Day 1, always there to back up the FL and never criticizing her (unless he's complaining about how emasculated her behavior is). Their interactions up to the point of the 'real romance' (after he figures out her gender and they can openly date), is sweet, and he is never overbearing or terribly possessive.

Demon King Nickname:

    • Near the end of the story, he pummels the original story's ML because he tries to harm Peijin (FL)
    • He almost lurks, lurks, in the shadows waiting for someone to hurt who he cares about, and then he'll silently remove of them.

Couple? Classic, Sweetheart melts the ice-cold, aloof Demon King.

C. Plot:

The plot is very smooth, with conflicts receiving a resolution (aside from the long-term conflicts) almost within 1-2 chapters. It seems that the minor conflicts are meant to serve as the main way for the author to introduce opportunities for the main couple to interact, which is understandable, that is a plot device after all. For those looking for a calculating MC, with a dramatic story, sorry, this is not it. I've reiterated it, but this is a fluff story.

I feel like one of the advantages to that this leaves little room for plot holes, but it also makes the novel feel very unfulfilling.

Peijin (The Fl's) gender reveal:

Oh Peijin falls, but thankfully it didn't go to the full extent the original Peijin had. When He Xun finds out that she's a girl, it's probably one of the most logical ways possible, her period. However he keeps it a secret, aside from telling his close friend, and waits until she transfers schools to transfer after her, and show her that he knew all along. It was anticlimactic in my opinion, but logical.

Overall, I came here looking for a way to give myself a heart attack and I gave myself one. A+, 4.5/5.0, listed below are my complaints.

Personal Complaints:

    • I do wish we got to see more interaction between the 'bro trio' that He Xun is in, I wanted to see more of the 'found-family trope' instead of having the other characters serve to highlight the main couple's interactions.
    • Yes, I did want to see a fight between the original story's FL, Xia Ying, and our FL, Peijin, but after learning Peijin was such as sweet person, it dawned on me that it was impossible.
    • The last ~15 chapters of the story were very cute, but I wonder if the author could've done a 'trope with a twist' that they did with He Xun to resolve the long-term story issues.
    • Story so sweet it gave me diabetes, I want my medical bills paid.

Ah, shameless plug: if you have any similar stories, please leave me a message on my website or here. <<less

I don't know how to use the spoiler thing so read at your own risk...

I liked this novel very much. At first the thing that got me reading was their interactions and the fact that I liked the MC and ML pretty much. I thought that the past of the ML would be pretty dark but it wasn't so and that was kinda refreshing.

Later I just wanted He Xun to find out the truth but it developed in a way that I didn't expect and he said 'if they are... more>> a woman then I will be their man and if they are a man then I will be top' they=MC. That was when I decided to definitely read this to the end. But I think from the part where she transferred schools it started to decline, mainly the MC, in regards to her interactions with the ml. It felt like she wasn't the same as when she was in disguise. I guess it's normal but if left a bitter aftertaste.

At the beginning it was almost on pair with 'Transmigrating to become the boss's little fairy' in the top of my list, but it didn't make it. Overall it was a very good read, enough to make me squeal and toss around. <<less

I don't get why people would just automatically rate a one-star on a novel that just barely started. It hadn't even been 30 mins and you just rated it one star for no reason?? I had to give the story some justice here.

Just by reading the first few chapters, it seems very promising. Just by reading the summary, I can tell it's going to be a very fluffy story. I have high hopes for this one.

I can feel the clichéness a mile away, but I bet this is one of... more>> the novels where it's a very nice read with tons of fluffy cuteness.

The translation is great too! Thank you for picking this story up!!! (๑•̀ㅁ•́๑) ✧ Edit:

a lovely read. I really like how there is almost no conflicts, and even if there was, it was resolved immediately and no misunderstandings. He Xun is such a boyfriend material kyaaa~ (≧∇≦)

I had wondered how the author was gonna resolve the gender reveal, but it actually went smoother than I thought it would be.

I'd say this is a nice, short cute novel. Although it's not very original, it's a simple fluffy read. 10/10

This was so freaking cute!! I had a huge smile on my face reading it.

The main couple is really sweet. There's some interesting lil aspects with this undercover girl in an all boy school. Minor drama (super happy about this!) And there's teenagers actually acting like teenagers especially the males in this novel.

I definitely recommend this for a light, fun read.

i love the ml, he doesnt hesitate to do what he wants to do and follows his hearts desire. When he found out that his feelings for FL might be a little different than friendship, he didn't hesitate to chase her (moderately so that he doesn't scare her away 😂)

plastic friendship and true friendship, both were shown here. Even though at first the FL was shown as really timid over time she really shines and grows courageous, also thanks to the new friends that she makes

really a good story... more>> that you should consider reading

might I say it again that ML is real damn cute and adorable!!! (Well at least for me lol) <<less

Aaaaaaaa I love this so much!

Its one of those (rare) transmigration stories that are actually realistic. Like how she's a girl so when she got into another body that needs to be in disguise, she could fool normal people's eyes but her disguise is obviously not perfect as her character is surrounded with guys, in which she isn't used to. And the ML! Omg I feel like its really rare to find such likeable male lead in this type of stories as most of them are the cold, arrogant or... more>> smthng type of person. But here aaaA I don't want to spoil anymore but he's really respectful! Tho he is starting to show just a bit of possessiveness ever since he realized his feelings for her but his personality is way much better than other typical yandere MLs out there. <<less

Fluffy feel-good story. Every small conflict is resolved within 1-2 chapters. The plot is minimal and the characters aren't anything special but He Xun (ML) deserves a special mention. I like his attitude: If someone is kind to him, he will reciprocate; If one of his friends is doing something morally questionable, he will talk to them and try to advise against such behaviours; If he falls in love, he doesn't shy away from his feelings but neither does his IQ & EQ drop (like other MLs that switch to... more>> cookie-cutter overbearing president, lock-you-in-a-dark-room-if-you-deny-me types). If anything, falling in love makes him more aware of his roommate's odd behaviour and he helps her keep up the ruse. <<less

It was an easy and cliche read. There's no earth defying antagonist or something, just your lovey dovey young couple loving each other.

The crossdressing plot is just a smooth ride, no misunderstanding at all.

Almost all chars are goody two shoes. So-so villains ?

3.5/5 story

5/5 translation

I think, I'm used to the hard ass and face slapping MCs ? So this one is not so good for me.

Light and fluffy; a short read. The female and male leads have great chemistry and the story isn’t too complicated. A good read if you have free time. This is a solid 3.5, enjoyable yet, nothing absolutely memorable. Definitely give it a try if you like the ‘transmigration-into-a-book’ theme.

For me this is a bit shallow read.

MC/PeiJin, she is okay but idk is it because it only has 80ish chapter that I feel she lacks depth. Just your basic girl actually, kind, helpless and pretty. Most of her mess basically got cleaned by her bf (ML) 's power. But in some part like cutting off toxic friends she is at least decisive.

As for ML, you know the drill just watch some gender bender drama or novel. The only exception was ML is at least nice to MC from the... more>> start not a big jerk in the beginning.

The plot? Cliché gender bender plot to the boot. You can take out the transmigration part actually, it's not really important anyway.

But cliche-ness also comes with familiarity. I cant hate this or love this cause I grew up liking this but it failed to deliver originality. <<less

I rarely (if ever) rate a novel five stars, but I think this one deserves it. Although it only has twenty-five chapters so far, the translator looks very promising and updates seem to come at a decent pace. Before I get started, I wanted to thank the translator first! They're truly one of the best translators I've ever seen, if not the best. So diligent, hard-working, and smart. The little notes they add at the end of a chapter/throughout a chapter are adorable, as well. OK, now to the review!

This... more>> novel has a lot of redeeming qualities! First off, there's a blooming romance, and because it takes place at school, it gives off that sense of puppy love, a cute kind of romance rather than a rowdy one, like most novels nowadays. But that doesn't make the novel uninteresting! Every chapter and scene is there for a reason, and none of them are simply "fillers." In some way or the other, they all contribute to the overall theme and plot. Another characteristic I appreciate is the innocent coming-of-age qualities this novel exudes. There's a lot of "brotherhood" featured throughout the twenty-five chapters I've read so far, and each character is realistic and fun to read about in their own way. It's not emphasized, but if you pay enough attention, you can see the purity of the characters and their own growth. Last, but definitely not the least, I'm simply in love with the male lead. He's a rare species for sure, because the way he's described surpasses all norms of the Typical Male Lead. Aloof and disconnected, but not insensitive or loser-like. Popular and good looking, but not personality-lacking or needlessly rude. To put it short--he's very likable.

If you're thinking about reading this novel, I only have one tip for you, and it's one that the translator included as well, so you probably won't forget it so easily. Don't try to make sense of everything! It's not entirely confusing but sometimes you'll want to stop and recap, and I advise that you don't. Just don't! It's a light read, so keep it that way. <<less

It's a good read with just minimal problems. Don't worry about the conflict since it was easily resolve. The characters are just okay while the Main Couple are also okay (great?? Idk). The first part is about the MC trying to fit in while being cautious because of her gender. The last part is full on blast fluff.

This story could pass as an easy read. It could be part as a beginner's pack on reading Chinese novels.

Cheers to the translator and editor for picking this novel!

From the synopsis I was expecting an interesting story. While it deed seem interesting to me in at about 5 chapters, it got dull real quick because there really wasn't anything remarkable about the MC.

Although she really was just an ordinary person that happened to transmigrate, but she's always either stunned or frozen and seemed dimwitted. While being dimwitted can be cute, being over dimwitted isn't.

But what really got me to rate 1 star was chapter 12's ridiculousness. (Aside from MC's overall character set up.)

Skipping over the fact the MC is being hypocritical ;

Seriously? They've been brothers for years, Zhang Cheng didn't just become a player overnight. He's been fooling around for a while and they very obviously indulged it. Surely, in all those years they've been brothers, they must've learned of each other and bonded. They could've straightened up their brother or gave out pointers if they really found it so wrong much less indulge it through and through. Suddenly just because of one incident with Pei Jin whom they've been "brothers" with for less than 12 days, they split up??????? Like wdf??

But after all, I've only read 12 chapters. Maybe it gets better and interesting hence the high rating but I think I'll pass, the ridiculousness is too cringe for my taste. <<less

Definitely a fluff story, but it's pretty short (~58 chapters). If you're looking for a story where the main character transmigrates and absolutely destroys the original main character of the story, this is not it. In fact, it doesn't talk about the actual female lead much, the focus is on the couple for the most part.

I'd say the major downside of this story is the lack of character development (which is a characteristic of most stories like this). Some characters are barely introduced and others are developed slightly before becoming... more>> a big part of the story. But, since the story is so short, the conflicts and 'big parts' aren't really big parts (if that makes sense).

Overall, I think it's a good read. <<less

Really short to the point that it feels sort of rushed. But it’s still a good dose of fluff. Plot is very smooth, almost zero misunderstandings or conflicts. Not much character development, not much backstory behind the characters.

I would say the biggest flaw is that you don’t get that emotionally invested with the characters. But I don’t think that matters because I read this just to get some fluff, so it satisfied me.

First few chapters were a bit rough for me but I'm pretty good now.

She explains a bit of plot and eventually adjusts to the reincarnation/transmigration.

We start to learn a bit about ML and it's fairly interesting despite the tropes.

I'm looking forward to where it goes from here. Please keep up the good work koi30 :)

After I read the whole novel honestly you guys this is one of the best fluff I read so far after reading so many novels. If you read this novel you would not regret it because I like it so much. I want to go back to reading it properly again after getting translated. MC is an honest little girl and ML is a guy who can't believe in love and always says that girls only bring trouble however, when he falls in love he shows a bit of possessive... more>> but not excessive just moderate. He is also protective about her and help her solve some trouble and MC is not afraid to tell people that she has a boyfriend and even tell to the public that she love her boyfriend very much. Also they both always do PDA to the public. The end they have a daughter and she is very jealous of her daughter and honestly told him. They talk and when the earthquake happened his top priority in his mind is always her and he even forgot to save his daughter of course nobody died because the nanny came to carry her out. Also ML does not kiss the daughter anywhere on the face not even forehead, he only kiss on top of the hair because he said it's only exclusive for MC. <<less
